LEONARD J. DAVIS
Leonard J. Davis, age 79, of Maryville, died Friday, August 6, 2004, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Knoxville, and was preceded in death by his wife, Katheryn Davis and three sisters. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Davis of Oliver Springs; granddaughter, Melinda Brown; and sister, Geneva Clabough of Louisville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, from 6 until 7 p.m. at the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Dean officiating. There will be a private entombment on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at Grandview Cemetery. Smith Mortuary, 983-1000.
JAMES BRICKEY JOINES
James Brickey Joines, age 62, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Sunbridge Care and Rehab Center at Hillside in Kingsport. He was of the Baptist faith and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar R. and Martha Ann Long Joines. Survivors include: brothers and sisters-in-law, Karen and Ann Joines of Birmingham, Ala., and Robert and Jody Joines of Niota; two nieces and two nephews. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. MARGARET M. KIDD
Margaret M. Kidd, age 95, of Maryville, passed away Friday, August 6, 2004, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was a 58-year member of Fairview United Methodist Church, member of Blount Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and DAR. She was a past member of Blount County Republican Women. preceded in death by her husband, Clyde H. Kidd; parents, James Perry and Frances Caroline Davis McCarty.
Survivors include her children, Robert H. Kidd and wife Dottie, Peggy Lambert and husband John, Cynthia Teague and husband Ralph; sister, Clarice Duncan of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, John Lambert III of Knoxville, Jason Lambert and wife Renee of Charleston, S.C., Robin Spears and husband Bo of Maryville; step-grandson, Jud Teague and wife Cathy of Florida; great-grandchildren Sophia Lambert, Lucas Lambert, Harrison Spears, Mac Spears, Annmarie Teague, Jordon Teague; special niece, Frances Carpenter; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Chapel with Rev. Eldon Moore officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:00 a.m. Monday at Grandview cemetery for the interment. FRANKIE GARNER LINGINFELTER
Frankie Garner Linginfelter, born January 3, 1919, passed away August 8, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Thomas Linginfelter. She is survived by a loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ray Franklin of Alcoa; granddaughter Patty Bornhoff; and two grandsons, Tommy Franklin and his special wife April, Michael Franklin and his special friend Karen Murphy who helped with her care. Frankie is survived by one brother and four sisters, Theodore and Irene Garner, Johnnie Johnston, Faye Bryant, Mary Belle and Ralph Arrowood, LaVerne and Bobby Hitch, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the family home, 840 Goddard St. in Alcoa, or at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home on Monday between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at Grandview cemetery on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jason Brown and Rev. Joe Green officiating.

ZALEEN LOWE WHITLOCK
Zaleen Lowe Whitlock, age 82, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.H. and Pearle Lowe; sister, Marjorie Lowe; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Reagan Whitlock. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Kenneth M. Whitlock Sr.; son, Kenneth M. Whitlock Jr. of Louisville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. and Ann Whitlock of Maryville; three grandchildren, Derek, Kara and Sofie Whitlock; sisters, Patricia Lowe and Betty Leach, both of Johnson City; brother, Lewis Lowe of Sumter, S.C. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 9, 2004, at 8:00 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary. The family and friends will assemble at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, in Grandview cemetery for Interment service. MILDRED T. BARDILL
Mildred T. Bardill, of Maryville, died Friday, August 6, 2004, at St. Marys.
She was born in Cades Cove. She was a member of Piney Level Baptist Church, and attended Maryville First United Methodist Church. She worked for Parks Belk for many years, and was retired from Avis Rent-A-Car. She was Past Worthy Matron, Mary Blount Chapter 133.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Glenn M. Denton, parents Sam and Sally Tipton, brothers Arlie, Henry, Cliff, Wiley, and Gerald Tipton, and sister Nancy Wright, all of Maryville.
She is survived by her husband, E. Hugh Bardill; daughters, Glenda Denton and Rhonda Denton of Maryville; stepdaughters Patricia Hinton of Knoxville, Susan Montgomery of Houston Texas; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Loetta Williams of Maryville, brother, Rev. Don Tipton of Beech Island SC.
The funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Macht and Rev. Larry Carroll officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the entombment.

GEORGE E. ERVIN
George E. Ervin, age 87, of Etowah, died late Friday night, Aug. 6, 2004, at UT Medical Center. He was a native of Monroe County, former resident of Blount County for 35 years and McMinn County resident for the past 25 years. He was a retired barber.
Preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Sarah Casey Ervin. Survivors: wife, Pauline Rucker Ervin of Etowah; two sons and daughters-in-law, B.L. and Peggy Ervin of Maryville, Ray and Faye Ervin of Gainesville, Ga.; grandchildren and spouses, Penny and Larry Morelock, Scott and Sharry Ervin, Eddie and Robin Fritz, Teresa and Stan Edger and Sarah and David Miceli; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2004, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Rev. Jim McElhaney will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at Bordwine Funeral Home at 9 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2004, and proceed to Conasauga cemetery for the 10 a.m. committal service.

NANCY JEAN WATROUS WATKINS
Nancy Jean Watrous Watkins died at her home in Maryville, Thursday, August 5, 2004, after a lifelong battle with asthma. Born in Knoxville, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Louise Watrous; sister, Sara Watrous Appleton; son, James Chester 'Chuck' Watkins. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca 'Becky' Watkins; son and wife, Eddie and Elaine Watkins, all of Maryville; sister and husband, Mary Helen and Hubert Longmire of Andersonville; brother and wife, Ben and Alois Watrous of Pass Christian, Miss.; grandchildren, Ben and Lauren Watkins, Sara and Luke Wood, Ryan Watkins and Jeremy Watkins; great-grandchild, Briana Wood; cousins, Charles 'Sonny' Roth and Sara Frazer; several nieces and nephews. Nancy was a longtime member of St. John United Methodist Church in Maryville where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. At her request, no services will be held. J.R. BUCHANAN
J.R. Buchanan, age 77 of Happy Valley passed away Tuesday August 3, 2004 at his home. He was a member of Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired Park Ranger from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Service. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Dosha Hearon Buchanan; brothers, Marvin Leon 'Joe' Buchanan, and Luke Buchanan.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Hatley Buchanan; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Yolanda Buchanan, of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Ronnie Taylor, of Petros, TN.; step-mother, Annie Buchanan; granddaughters, Bethany Buchanan, and Linsay Buchanan; step-granddaughter, Emily Taylor; brother, Tom Buchanan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bert and Thelma Buchanan, Wayne and Carolyn Buchanan, all of Maryville, Leonard and Wanda Buchanan, of Locust Grove, GA, James and Lois Buchanan, of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Rich Novotny, of Cataula, GA, Rosemary and Jimmy Hannah, of Greenback, Hope and Jimmie Rapier, Lorraine and Tommy Ray, both of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.

DOROTHY MAXENE FOXWORTHY
Dorothy Maxene Foxworthy, 92 of Maryville went home to be with The Lord Jesus Christ and her loved ones on Wednesday August 4, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Florence Foxworthy; brothers: Russell, Robert, and Donald Foxworthy; special friend: Kay Sentell. She is survived by her sister: Margaret Weber of California; sister-in-law: Joan Foxworthy of Florida; many special nieces, nephews, and cousins; devoted friends: Nancy Sentell, Marie Haven, and Sandra Musland, and a loving church family at Maryville Evangelical Church. Miss Dorothy wanted to be remembered for the Christ she loved, who became her Lord and Savior on October 11, 1925. Eternal values were far more important to her than those gained on earth, and she was actively involved throughout her life in teaching Bible Studies, and Ministries at her church, missionaries, children's work, and supported numerous charitable causes. Miss Dorothy's life touched many of those at Maryville Evangelical Church, Broadway Towers, and Asbury Acres. The family and friends will meet at Magnolia cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Saturday for a graveside service with Rev. Mark Horn officiating. Anna Lou Jennings, age 95 of Maryville passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Green Meadow Church of God and a descendant of Metcalf Bottoms area of Cades Cove. preceded in death by husband, William Lee Jennings; daughters, Edith Jennings, Wanda Campbell; two infant sons; sisters, Lydia, Laura, Charlotte, Myrtle and Bessie; brothers, Glen, Mack and Johnnie; parents, John and Martha Maples. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Pink and Judy Jennings of Maryville, Rev. John O. Howard, age 88, of East Brown School Road, Maryville, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at U.T. Hospital. He was a member of East Maryville Baptist Church for over 65 years serving as a deacon and faithful supporter. He was also a member of Rockford Masonic Lodge and retired from ALCOA with 44 years of service. Mr. Howard was also a part-time farmer. preceded in death by: wife, Beulah Mae Howard; son, Steve Howard; infant daughter; mother, Lula McClanahan Howard; father, Harrison Howard; brother, James E. Howard.
