DOROTHY JEAN YEAROUT
Dorothy Jean Yearout, age 67, of Maryville, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Praise Temple Assembly of God. Dorothy was an avid gardener. She was a proud mom to her pets: dogs, Sam and Angel Baby; and cat, Patches. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jarvis and Dianna Yearout of Maryville; daughter, Vicky; grandchildren, Greg (Samantha) Hicks, John Yearout, and Scott Hicks; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Alexus, Jordan, and Kendall; brothers, Wally Davenport, Luther (Faye) Davenport, both of Strawberry Plains; and sister, Hazel Long of Knoxville.
Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Praise Temple Assembly of God, 1873 N. Wright Road, Alcoa, with the Rev. H. Wayne Simmons officiating. JOSEPHINE `JO' BISSETTE BASS
Josephine 'Jo' Bissette Bass, 83, died Monday, June 14, 2004 in Nashville, N.C. She was born in Nash County, June 8, 1921, daughter of the late J.N. Bissette and Sula Dew Bissette. Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her husband, Dagma Bass; and brothers, Harvey and Wallace Bissette. Surviving her are sons, Donald Bass and wife Clara of Nashville, N.C., Mike Bass and wife Jewel of Clinton, N.C.; daughters, Jo Ann Lewis and friend, Mike Shelby, of Raleigh, N.C., Kathy Deans and husband Donnie of Nashville, N.C., Wendy Bass and husband Milburn Beal of Maryville. Also surviving are sisters, Elmo B. Boswell of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Rae B. Williams of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Joseph Bass of Wilmette, Ill., Amy Jackson of Statesboro, Ga., Chris Bass of Creedmoor, N.C., Bobby Shatterly of Raleigh, N.C., Ben Bass of Clayton, N.C., Katie and Jessica Lewis of Raleigh, N.C., Greg, David and Amanda Deans of Nashville, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Dillon Bass, Sydney and Hannah Knobel, Ryan Bass and Emory Jackson. Joyce M. Borden, age 65, of Greenback, passed away Monday afternoon, June 14, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Member of Greenback Memorial Baptist Church. preceded in death by husband, Bobby L. Borden; daughter, Lynda Elaine Borden; parents, George and Gladys Fletcher; brother, Norman Fletcher.

WATKINS, JAMES 'CHUCK, ' 53, Cranbury, N.J., died Monday, June 14, 2004, at home. He was born and raised in Maryville. Sherri Beals, age 38, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004, at U.T. Medical Center. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Knoxville and was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Richard Hough.
Survivors include her husband, Brent Beals; daughter, Rachel Whitney Smith; mother, Harriet Bailey Hough; sister, Karen Knight; niece, Christa Knight; nephew, Brian Knight; aunt, Nina Pollard; father of Rachel Smith, Dennis Smith.
A member service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Second Presbyterian Church in Knoxville with The Rev. Dr. Arnold Lovell officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church following the service. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday at Magnolia cemetery in Maryville.

Verla D. Bell, age 89, of Lowell, Ind., formerly of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in Lowell, Ind. She was of the Methodist faith and was preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. Bell; son, Ray Bell; brothers, Obie Jenkins and Ray Jenkins; sister, Reva Jenkins White.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Obie K. and Deborah A. Bell of Cookeville; grandsons, Randy Bell, Marc Bell and Kevin A. Bell; and great-granddaughter, Ariana Skye Lempera Bell.
Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview cemetery for a graveside service with Dr. John Franklin officiating.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alcoa and Alcoa 25-Year Club. preceded in death by: parents, Elmer and Annie Conner, and sister, Hilda Johnston. William R. (Shorty) Guinn, age 78, of Maryville, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include: wife, Gypsy Triplett Guinn; son, Jerry Guinn; daughter, Sandy Bowers, son-in- law, Larry Bowers; grandsons, William Kindrick Bowers, Caleb Lee Bowers all of Maryville; sister, Mary G. Condry.

RODNEY DEAN KING
Rodney Dean King, age 68, of Maryville, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at his home. He was owner of Crown Automotive on Hall Road. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Marvin E. King Sr.; brother, Donald Lane King; and sisters, Carolyn Turner and Frances Cofer.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia (Ginger) Cottrell King; sons, Jerry C. King and wife Lisa, Rodney Dean King II; grandson, Joshua Caine King; brothers and wives, Gene and Mary Anna, Harold and Susan, Raymond (Buster) and Sandy; brother, Jerome King; sister-in-law, Dot King; and several nieces and nephews .
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Kimsey officiating. The body was cremated at his request.

Reva Parker Murphy, age 84, of Maryville died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Fairpark Healthcare Center. preceded in death by: first husband, Lester Parker, and son, Dickie Parker. Survivors include: husband, Leonard Murphy; son, Wade (Buddy) Parker of Maryville; daughters, Glenda Roberts of Maryville and Debbie Parker of Maryville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wade Murphy and Huell Murphy, both of Maryville, Wendell Murphy and "Clint" Murphy, both of Florida, Mac Murphy Jr. of Knoxville; sister, Louise Headrick of Maryville. EUGENE B. `NICK' NICHOLSON
Eugene B. "Nick" Nicholson, age 87, of Greenback, passed away Monday, June 14, 2004, at his home. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church in Greenback where he was a Sunday School teacher, was a 32nd Degree Mason, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, being one of the first groups of 'Sea Bees' serving in the Pacific and Atlantic. He was retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25-Year Service Club, a member of the Beekeepers Association, Vice-President of the Greenback Senior Citizens and a member of the Gingham Gang Band.
Mr. Nicholson was a member of the NRA since World War II and organized the local NRA, where he earned an award established in his name which is given yearly.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Jean; daughter, Carol Jane Hill; and great-granddaughter, Sarah Neubert.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Nicholson; grandchildren, Ray Hill of Knoxville, Rick and Julie Hill of Knoxville, Jim and Michelle Hill of Fredericksburg, Va., Beth and Jim Neubert of Knoxville, Nicole Hill; great-grandchildren, Mark and Kristin Hill of Fredericksburg, Va., Lauren, Rachel and Roby Neubert of Knoxville; son-in-law, Howard Hill of Knoxville; two stepchildren, Larry and Connie Gosnell and Gail and Jerry Fann; three step-grandchildren, Jason Gosnell, Gerri Lynn Cox and Joshua Gosnell; one step-great-grandchild, Natalie Cox.
A Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel followed by a funeral service with Rev. Alvin Patton officiating. A military graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Grandview Cemetery.
