Pearl Jeanette Young, 85, of Maryville, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Fairpark Healthcare Center. Mrs. Young was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church in Maryville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Odis Young; parents, Fred and Georgia Torbett; brothers, Henry Torbett and wife Reba, Arch Torbett, Edison Torbett. She is survived by her loving family, sons Kinsel Young and wife Shirley, Jerry Young and wife Loreeta; brother, Eslle Torbett and wife Sue; sister, Mary Cline; sisters-in-law, Christine Torbett and Lou Ann Torbett; grandchildren, Galen Young (Kim), Todd Young (Brenda), Errin Young, Tim Young (Amy); great-grandchildren, Graham Young, Colton Young, Loryn Young, Anthony Brubaker and Olivia Young. Mrs. Young is at Highland South where the family will receive friends Friday, June 11, from 6-8:00 p.m. Services will follow at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chuck Young and Rev. David Webster officiating. Interment will be Saturday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland South Memorial Park. Arrangements by Highland South Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations 573-7300.

JOYCE M. BORDEN
Joyce M. Borden, age 65, of Greenback, passed away Monday afternoon, June 14, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Member of Greenback Memorial Baptist Church. preceded in death by husband, Bobby L. Borden; daughter, Lynda Elaine Borden; parents, George and Gladys Fletcher; brother, Norman Fletcher.
Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Bill Jenkins of Maryville; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Cathy Borden of Greenback, Jerry and Peggy Borden of Greenback, Scooter and Vikki Borden of Greenback; grandchildren, Crissy Borden, Anthony Borden, Adam Borden, Ashley Borden, Lynda Borden, Kelsey Wolfe, Kaylee Wooten; step-grandchildren, Katie McCallister, Mary McCallister, Austin Stokes; six great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Fletcher; brothers, Wally Fletcher, Darwin Fletcher, Lyle Fletcher, all of Minnesota; several nieces and nephews.

JACKIE LEEANN HOLLIFIELD
Jackie Leeann Hollifield, age 24, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Hollifield; grandmother, Ruby Akins; and grandmother, Georgie Russell. She is survived by her children, Lindsay Hollifield, age 7, Blake Costner, age 2, and Jordan Hollifield, age 5 months, all of Maryville; mother, Kathy French of Maryville; stepfather, John Moss of Maryville; brothers and sister-in-law, Adam Hollifield and Heather Butler of Maryville, Jamie and Tammy Hollifield of Louisville, and Jerry Marotz of Knoxville; great-aunt and -uncle, Shirley and Jackie Morgan; uncles, Ronnie and Eddie Russell; aunt, Connie Sink; niece and nephew, Brittney and Dylan Hollifield; grandfather John Akins; grandfather, Charles Russell; and several cousins. Funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 20, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel with the interment to follow at Clark's Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

GWENDOLYN `GWEN' HUMPHREY
Gwendolyn "Gwen" Humphrey Lawson, age 59, of Maryville, passed away June 17, 2004. She was preceded in death by her grandparents who helped raise her, Milton "Boog" and Hazel Humphrey; stepbrothers, Bill Powell and Margaret and Carl Burchfield. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jack Lawson; daughter, Cheryl Lawson and roommate Jennifer Higdon; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Neil Goddard; parents, Grace and Marvin Powell of Maryville; special grandson who lived with them, Jared Lawson; and loving granddaughter, Megan Isom. Other survivors include: special aunt who was like a sister to her, Brenda Croft and husband Rev. Darrell Croft; Deloris Garrett and husband Sanford; uncles, Randell Humphrey of Maryville and Bill Humphrey of Colorado; stepsister, Betty McBee and husband Buck and their son Jeff McBee; Sue Rhinehart and family; special cousins, Mike and Rick Croft, Angie Green, and Pam Franklin; and special friends, Joyce Tipton and Melissa Benson. At the request of the deceased, Mrs. Lawson was cremated and no services will be held. Arrangements provided by Miller Funeral Home.

NELLIE SING JOHNSON
Nellie Sing Johnson, age 89, of Maryville, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Asbury Place of Maryville. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Wade K. Johnson; parents, Henry and Flora Sing; sister, Mae Hicks; and brother, Robert Sing. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. and Meralene Johnson; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Dale McCammon, Judy and Bill Clabough, and Jane and Hugh Hardman, all of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, John and Dortha Sing; sister-in-law, Lucille Newman of Knoxville; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nellie and J.A. Newman of Maryland; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Ann Robins officiating. MARY ALICE HITCH KIRKLAND
Mary Alice Hitch Kirkland, of 392 Kirkland Lane, Greenback, passed away 3 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at her home. Daughter of the late James and Hazel Hitch. She was of the Methodist faith. Retired medical technologist.
Survivors: husband of 44 years, Richard Kirkland; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristen and Jeff Mitchell, Kimberly and Tory Perdue; son, Don Kirkland; grandchildren, Allison and Chayse Mitchell, Ian Perdue, all of Greenback; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Bill Bledsoe of Maryville, and Linda and Al Shaw of LaMesa, Calif.; one niece and two nephews.
Memorial service 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Bierley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Tommy Self and Rev. Ron Sabo officiating. Interment service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Bierley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville. 523-2173.

EDITH ELIZABETH ELROD MILLS
Edith Elizabeth Elrod Mills, age 78, of Alcoa died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Brakebill Nursing Home. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Alcoa. preceded in death by: parents, Reece and Mary Jane Elrod; sister, Ruby Bullock Hensley; brothers-in-law, Harold Bullock and James W. Cope. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, David and Brenda Mills of Houston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Deidre and Dr. Mitchell Dickson of Knoxville; grandchildren, Bruce W. Mills and wife Kristine, Lauren and Jessica Mills, all of Houston, Texas, Zackary and Kyle Dickson of Knoxville; sister, Beatrice E. Cope of Lynch, Ky.; nephew, Rick Bullock and wife Tammy and their child Tiffany; nephew, Dr. Jack W. Cope; niece, Rebecca Boggs and husband Daniel and their children Ethan and Hailey. BRETT D. MURRELL
Brett D. Murrell, age 41, of Maryville died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Fort Sanders NHC. He was a 1981 graduate of Maryville High School and attended the University of Tennessee and Cleveland State University. preceded in death by: mother, Bobbie L. Hammontree Yancey. Survivors include: son, Jacob B. "Jake" Murrell of Louisville; father and stepmother, Dwight and Druecilla Murrell of Maryville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kent and Stephanie Murrell of Maryville and Ricky and Annette Murrell of Maryville; step-bothers, Kevin Perry of New Orleans, La., and Mike Perry and wife DeeDee of Friendsville; very special friends, Mike and Laura Davis, Paul and Misty Perry, John and Donna Wallace and many other friends. Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 19, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary. EVERETT C. POST
Everett C. Post, 606 Garfield St. Alcoa died peacefully in his sleep at approximately 2:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004. Born July 21, 1915, in Nyack, N.Y. Retired from Getty Oil Company as an automotive research engineer. Served the Lord for many years at Northside Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Fla. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruth Evelyn Post; two sons: Rev. Roger Post of Alcoa and David Post of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren. He was cremated, and no services are scheduled. Memorial Funeral Home of Maryville in charge of arrangements.

FRANCES L. CONNER
Frances L. Conner, age 81, of Alcoa, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Blount Memorial Transitional Care Unit. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alcoa and ALCOA 25-Year Club. preceded in death by: parents, Elmer and Annie Conner; and sister, Hilda Johnston. Survivors include: brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Mary Conner of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three nieces and two nephews. Family and friends will assemble at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the graveside service and interment. EVERETT ALVA HENRY
Everett Alva Henry, age 88, of Maryville and a longtime resident of Blount County, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, in Vero Beach, Fla. He was born on April 25, 1916, in Sevier County, to the late Horace H. and Lilly (Lindsey) Henry. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Army where he was stationed in Panama. Mr. Henry was also a member of the ALCOA 25-year club. preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gaynelle Sharpe and Sara Henry; one grandson; brother, Clifford Henry. Survivors include wife of 64 years, Mary F. Henry of Vero Beach, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles E. and Rose Henry of Wellington, Ohio, George A. and Margie Henry of Maryville; daughter, Grace M. Henry of South Vienna, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah A. and Tom LaPlant of Vero Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Elva Reneau of Orlando, Fla. Funeral service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Smith Mortuary. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2004, at Grandview Mausoleum for the entombment with Rev. AL KUNTZ
Al Kuntz, age 55, of Greenback, died Saturday, June 12, 2004. He was a member of Axley Chapel Methodist Church. Al also served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated husband, father, and papa. He was a member of BMW Riders Club and enjoyed boating, motorcycle adventures and flying. He was a Biomedical Engineer Manager at Modern Biomedical & Imaging, Inc. and President of Infinity Enterprise. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Christina (Tina) & John Hargis of Maryville and Annette & Stephen Coleman of Maryville; grandchildren, Blair & Adam Hargis; parents, Donald & Ila Kuntz of Ill.; brothers, Roger and Kevin Kuntz, both of Ill.; special friends, Jim Wogan and Ray Sanders. Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2004, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Doug Halsne, Rev. Dan Chambers, and Rev. Lewis Ketron officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2004, at Grandview Cemetery. JO ANN KUNTZ
Jo Ann Kuntz, age 55, of Greenback, died Saturday, June 12, 2004. She was a member of Axley Chapel Methodist Church in Greenback. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and 'nana.' She was also a member of the BMW Riders Club. She enjoyed landscaping, boating, motorcycle adventures and flower gardening. She worked at First Tennessee Bank. preceded in death by: father, Dwight Krischel. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Christina (Tina) & John Hargis of Maryville, Annette & Stephen Coleman of Maryville; grandchildren, Blair & Adam Hargis; mother, Lillian Dorff of Ill.; sister, Janet Dunevant of Texas; special friend, Mary Wogan, and many other special friends. JAMES `CHUCK' WATKINS
James 'Chuck' Watkins, 53, of Cranbury, N.J., passed away on Monday (6/14/2004) at home.
Born in Maryville, Tennessee, Mr. Watkins was a resident of Cranbury since 1995.
Mr. Watkins was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. He was a Flight Medic at the University of Tennessee Hospital. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force as an Operating Room Nurse and Clinical Nurse, where he received the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Air Force Training Ribbon, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon. For the past six years, Mr. Watkins was a Divisional Sales Manager for PDI, Inc. in Upper Saddle River, N.J.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cranbury, and also the President of the Cranbury First Aid Squad.
He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Watkins; his children, Ryan Watkins of Hamilton, N.J., Jeremy Cole Watkins of Cranbury, Michael Kervan and his wife Gina and granddaughter, Alexis Leigh Kervan, all of Cranbury, and Kimberly Kervan of Grand Rapids, Mich.; his father and stepmother, James Edward and Martha Watkins of Louisville; his mother, Nancy Watkins of Maryville; one brother, Edward Watkins; and one sister, Becky Watkins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (6/21/2004) at 10:30 a.m. at the A.S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, N.J. Rev. John M. Foster, Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Cranbury, will be officiating.
Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday (6/20/2004) from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made in Mr. Watkins' memory to the Cranbury First Aid Squad, 68 Maplewood Avenue, Cranbury, NJ 08512; Princeton Hospice, 208 Bunn Drive, Princeton, NJ 08540; and/or the Cancer Institute of New Jersey at RWJ University Hospital at Hamilton, 2575 Klockner Road, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.

WILLIAM ROBERT WOODWORTH
William Robert Woodworth, age 69, of Maryville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 14, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church. preceded in death by: daughter, Cheryl Anne Woodworth; parents, William and Violet Woodworth. Survivors include: wife, Delores Woodworth; son, Robert (Bob) of Maryville; brother, Rev. Richard Woodworth and wife Sharon, of Decatur, Ill.; uncle, Alvin Themander of Chicago, Ill.; brothers-in-law, J.D. and Greg Hancox; sister-in-law, Shirley Guglielmello and their families; a number of nieces and nephews; special pet, golden retriever, Meika. Private entombment for family and friends will be at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Richard Woodworth and Dr. Allen Raines officiating. Memorial donations may be made to: Everett Hills Baptist Church, Animal Welfare of your choice, or Blount Memorial Hospice.
