Joyce Cecelia Tate Gathers, of Alcoa, TN, departed this life, February 27, 2004 at UT Medical Center.
She was the youngest of four children, born to the late Mrs. Edith Tate.
Faithful member of Robinson Chapel Church, where she served in many capacities. She was an avid Sunday School student, choir member, mid-week Bible study and prayer participant; member of CPW.
Graduate of Charles M. Hall High School, class of 1958.
Preceded in death by mother, Edith Tate and husband, James Gathers, Sr.
Survivors, devoted niece, Dana L. Jordan, Alcoa, TN; sister, Shirley (James, Tobey) Henry, Alcoa, TN; Godchildren, Ina Mayes, Lebanon, TN; Iven Mayes, Alcoa, TN; step-children, James Gathers, II and Steven (Madeline) Gathers, Buffalo, NY; Lydia Gathers, Calif., Clarissa (Aaron) Barmore, Buffalo, NY; aunt, Viola Dowdle, Alcoa, TN; nieces, Danna (Harvey) Evans, Lavergne, TN; Mary Ferguson and Phyllis Hardin, Maryville, TN; Loyce (David) Mayes and Judy (Terry) Knighton, Jean Tate, Alcoa, TN; Donita Williams, Lebanon, TN, Yolanda (Robert) Sullivan, Gallatin, TN, Kindra Evans, Antioch, TN, Sonya Kennedy, KY; nephews, Curtis (Caroline) Tate, Alcoa, TN; Rudolph (Tanya) Tate, Brooklyn, NY, Darrell Tate, Randy Tate and Andre Earles, Alcoa, TN; sisters-in-law, Joyce and Katheline, Tate, Alcoa, TN, Willa Mae Penny, Brooklyn, NY; many cousins to include Kim (James) Marable, Karla George, Maple Shade, NJ, Marteace George, Huntsville, AL, Aundrae (Karen) George; devoted friends, Ralph and Phyllis Hernandez, Brooklyn, NY, Georgia Gregory and Hattie Scott, Knoxville, TN; the Robinson Chapel Church Family; and a host of others nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends.
Body may be viewed at Bethel Baptist Church, 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday. Funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Friday at Bethel Baptist Church, Rev. Ralph Miller, Jr., officiating, assisted by other ministers.
Interment Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery.
Body may be viewed 2:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.

EARL EDWIN GREEN
Earl Edwin Green, 88, of 800 W. Ridgeway Street, Ridgeview Apartments, Clifton Forge, VA., died Saturday, February 28, 2004 at Liberty House Nursing Home, Clifton Forge.
He was born on April 6, 1915, in Low Moor, Virginia, a son of the late Frank and Ollie McCoy Green.
He and his wife were owners of G & E Electric in Clifton Forge, he was a college instructor at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, Clifton Forge, and was a long-time member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church.
Mr. Green is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry L. Green and wife Susan of Maryville, TN., and Reverend Terry L. Green and wife Eleanor of Richmond, VA.; four grandchildren, S. Leigh Green of Johnson City, TN., David T. Green of Maryville, TN., Charles E. Green of Maryville, TN. and Brent D. Green of Winston-Salem, NC.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Gertrude Howard Green.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from the Clifton Forge Baptist Church in Clifton Forge with the Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, 511 McCormick Blvd., Clifton Forge, VA. 24422.

PATSY J. HALL
Patsy J. Hall, age 59, of Maryville passed away Tuesday, March 02, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Mountain View Church of Christ. preceded in death by parents, Ben and Violet Clark Hall; and sister, Shirley Swicegood.
Survivors, brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Lil Hall of Maryville, Joe and Janice Hall of Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Wayne Brewer of Maryville; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Carol Heatherly of Friendsville and Rose Swicegood of Maryville; all the many friends at Mountain View Church of Christ. Special thanks to all the nursing staff at Blount Memorial Hospital and TCC also Dr. Leyen and Dr. Griffitt. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Pastor Benic Hampton officiating. Interment service 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Kagley's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

STEVE `TWINKLES THE CLOWN' MILLSAPS
Steve 'Twinkles the Clown' Millsaps, age 56, 242 Slagle Road, Elizabethton died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at his residence following a brief illness. A native of Blount County, TN, he was the son of the late Reuben and Noel Mae McGaha Millsaps. He was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ. He was owner of Star's Big Top Amusements.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Millsaps, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Leanna and David Poteat, Jonesborough; two grandchildren, Adam and Lindsay Poteat, both of Jonesborough; two brothers, Derrell Millsaps, Michael Millsaps, both of Maryville, TN; several nieces also survive.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Mr. Eddy Craft, Minister officiating. Music will be under the direction of Elizabethton Church of Christ Singers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to the funeral service.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at Centerview Church of Christ Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Millsaps, Derrell Millsaps, David Poteat, Adam Poteat, Bob Wright, Michael Keen, R.J. Wilson, Mike Russell, Tyler Malone and Carl Cole. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. JAMES `JIM' H. OVERTON
James (Jim) H. Overton, age 57 of Melissa Lane, Maryville passed away Monday March 1, 2004 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, Knoxville. He graduated from Norris High School, Norris and The University Of Tennessee in electrical Engineering. He retired from TVA. A member of the Chapter A2 Goldwing Riders Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Carolyn Overton; mother-in-law, Anna Ruth Stooksbury. Survivors include wife of 37 years, Joyce; children, Eric Overton and wife Nichole of Maryville, Karen Lewis and husband David of Louisville; grandson, Jordan Lee Overton; and granddaughter, Anna Sarah Lewis; sisters, Kay Weaver and husband Jim of Wallis, TX, Patsy Hammond and husband Bill of Clinton, TN; nieces and nephews, Kim Spears and husband Bobby, Rusty and Ashley Weaver all of TX, Jimmy Hammond and wife Crystal of GA, Whitney Hammond and wife Melissa of Nashville, and Amy Smith and husband Joe of Clinton; several great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at Middlesettlements United Methodist Church in Maryville from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be March 4, 2004, Thursday, at 11:00 a.m., at Middlesettlements Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Black from Maryville will be officiating. Pallbearers are members of The Rose Marie Sunday School Class. HERMAN A. PHILLIPS
Herman A. Phillips, age 71, of Maryville, formerly of Flint, Michigan, passed away 7:20 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born in Tellico Plains, Tennessee. He was a Mason in good standing at the Montrose, Michigan Lodge.
Survivors: children and spouses, Thomas and Irene Phillips, Romeo, MI, Ronald and Tracy Phillips, Alexandria, VA, Sarah and David Morris, Napoleon, MI; grandchildren, Ellen Nicole Phillips, Grayson Lee Phillips, Alyson Amanda Phillips, Reggie Daniel Morris, Alexander Thomas Phillips; brother, J.T. Phillips, Tellico Plains; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by wife, Virginia Blackburn Phillips.
Funeral 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Jim Bishop officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37909. Family will receive friends 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Tellico Plains.

JAMES WILEY WHITEHEAD
James Wiley Whitehead, age 53, of Maryville passed away Sunday, February 29, 2004, in Chatsworth, GA. preceded in death by parents, Wiley King Whitehead and Della Mae Franklin Whitehead; brothers, Thurman Whitehead, Charles Whitehead, and John Whitehead; and sister, Jean Garland. SURVIVED by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Marise and Inez Whitehead of Maryville, Rev Harold and Shirley Whitehead of Maryville, Alfred and Joan Whitehead of Maryville, Mayford and Lil Whitehead of Maryville, Will and Norma Whitehead of Maryville, and Keith and Betty Whitehead of Maryville; sisters, Selma Hall of Maryville, Dollie Whitehead of Knoxville, and Gracie Simons of Maryville; and, several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at Miller Funeral Home - Cedar Chapel on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at 8:00 p.m., Rev. Rex Everett officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Chilhowee Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Tallassee. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

MCMILLAN, FRED WAYNE, 54, South Knoxville, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Survivors: common law wife, Dinah Dew; sons, Matthew McMillan and Carlos Dew of Knoxville, Michael McMillan of Chattanooga. He was cremated and a private memorial service will be held. Arrangements by Dotson Funeral Home, Wildwood.

OGLE, CLYDE OLIVER, 52, Maryville, died Friday, March 5, 2004. Survivors: mother, Ellen Ogle; brother, Conley Ogle; sisters, Anna Lee Brewer, Carolyn Cuthbertson. Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Red Bank Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

SHIELDS, PLEASANT CALVIN, 85, Maryville, died Saturday March 20, 2004, at home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Memorial Funeral Home.

HUEY, PAUL, age 85, of Alcoa passed away Sunday morning, March 21, 2004, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

JOHNSON, KAMAU AMIRI, infant, passed away Sunday morning, March 21, 2004, at University of Tennessee Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville.

MCCANN, GERALD, age 79, of Maryville, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Mr. McCann is being sent to Bailey Funeral Home in PeaPack N.J. for all funeral arrangements and interment. Local arrangements are being made by Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

WILLIAMSON, RUFUS, 94, Maryville, died Friday, March 19, 2004, at the family home. He was retired from ALCOA after 35 years of service.

MARIAN M. BAXTER
Marian M. Baxter, 76, died Monday June 8, 2004 at her residence in Muncie, Indiana. She graduated from Everett High School and attended Knoxville Business College. A member of Shawnee Heights Baptist Church in Muncie.
She was preceded in death by parents, Jewell and Nellie Teffeteller Copeland; brothers, Max F. and Arnold Copeland. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Paul T. Baxter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jewell and Vivian Copeland, Jr. of Houston, TX. and Norman and Nora Copeland of Muncie, IN; sisters, Jeanette Baker of Greenback, Margaret Cooper of Apex, NC., and Patricia Hembree of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Francis and Frank Yarnell, and Carolyn Nell and Lew Lang all of Maryville; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 12, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Harden officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, June 11, 2004 between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
