MABLE B. MARTIN
Mable B. Martin, age 84 of Walland, passed away Friday, March 5, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Rocky Branch Road. Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Joan & Carl Hubbard of Charlotte, TN; 3 grandchildren, Loria, Karen & Connie; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Georgia Edith Ogle of Walland; several loving nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2004 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary with Rev. PHYLLIS ANN SIMERLY HEADRICK
Phyllis Ann Simerly Headrick passed away quietly at the residence of her son Mark, Thursday March 4, 2004. She was surrounded by her family and she concluded her fierce battle with cancer that had spanned three and a half years. She was born Nov. 27, 1937, in Blount County Tennessee to Hobert and Mayme Valentine Simerly. She graduated from Walland High School in 1957 and married
Don E. Headrick. The couple moved to Florida before settling in Georgia. She devoted her life to her husband and family who will always remember her quick smile, gentle spirit, determination, generosity and laughter.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Don E. Headrick and Mother, Mayme Valentine Simerly.
Survived by her father Hobert L. Simerly of Maryville Tennessee. Daughter Mrs. (Gayle) Allen Brown of Winder Georgia. Son Mark E. Headrick of Hoschton Georgia. Son and Daughter-in-law Mike and Melissa Headrick of Hoschton Georgia. Grandchildren Brandi and Dustin Brown, Josh and Amber Headrick. Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Richard and Flora Simerly, Wendell and Euretha Simerly of Maryville, Jack and Pam Simerly of Knoxville. Many Nieces and Nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 6th at Carters Funeral service in Winder Georgia from 6-9 PM. Funeral will be Sunday at Carters in Winder at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Bethabra Baptist Church in Winder. Pastor Greg Long of Pleasant Grove Baptist church will officiate.
TILLMAN J. (TILL) KELLER
Tillman J. (Till) Keller passed away at the family home Thursday evening, March 4th. He was born in Toone, Tennessee on August 31, 1910, the 1st son of Tillman J. Keller, Sr. and Abigail Marsh Keller. Till moved to Knoxville in 1928 and attended the University of Tennessee from 1928 to 1933. He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity and was elected to several offices. Till began his first business, a grocery store he named Keller's Shopping Center on Beaumont Avenue in 1939. In 1946 he continued his business career by founding Institutional Jobbers Company, one of the first broad-line foodservice distributors in the United States. This is now the IJ Company (Knoxville, Johnson City, Valdosta, GA, and Tallahassee, FL). Till and his brothers founded Kelsan, Inc. in 1950. These businesses remain family owned and operated as the Keller Group and currently have over 1100 employees in Tennessee and surrounding states. Till Keller truly loved business, especially 'trading' -- it was his passion.
Till also enjoyed a lifelong love of farming and owned and operated Lea Lakes Ranch in Grainger County as a farm and cattle ranch from 1950 to the present. Till traveled extensively for the food service industry and also helped pioneer many of its practices. His worldwide travels were a great source of entertaining stories for his family and friends.
Till was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Helen Kennedy Camp Keller, in April 2000 and William M. (Mike) his youngest son in May 2003. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tillman (Tim) J. and Vicki Keller and daughter-in-law, Mary Keller. Five grandchildren also survive him and they include: Ashley Keller Swaffield and husband, James; Vincent Keller and wife, Sheila; Amanda Keller; Justin Keller; and Blaine Keller. Till's great-grandchildren are Tillman and Heidi Keller, Henry, Cole, and Willowdeen Swaffield. Other survivors are sisters Sarah Wood McNeil of Knoxville and Ruth Clutts of Bartlett, TN; brothers, Marvin Keller of Knoxville, and Joe M. Keller of Toone, TN; nephew, Hall McNeil of Knoxville and several other nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 11th in the courtyard at St. John's Cathedral. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to St. John's Cathedral. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the great hall. Arrangements by East Tennessee Mortuary Service, 539-2458.
Roberta Stepp Callinan
Roberta Stepp Callinan passed away February 28, 2004 at her home in Boston, MA where she had lived for many years. She graduated from Maryville High School and attended U.T. for some years and then Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Martin Callinan; her mother, Lucile Weiss; brothers, Robert Stepp and William Stepp and their wives; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 6 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Smith Mortuary and funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Smith Mortuary with the Rev. Eddie Collier officiating.
Following the ceremony, burial will be at West Miller's Cove cemetery in Walland.
PAUL JAMES DYER
Paul James Dyer, age 59, of Maryville passed away Wednesday morning, March 3, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. preceded in death by his parents, Paul James, Sr. and Savannah Turpin Dyer. SURVIVED by his wife, Brenda Finchum Dyer of Maryville; sons and daughter-in-law, Paul Jay and Angel Dyer of Maryville, and Jeffrey Travis Dyer of Maryville; two grandchildren, Shelly and Justin Dyer of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Luke Ledbetter of Alcoa, Dorothy and Jim Hill of Maryville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Becky Dyer of Rockford, David and Valarie Dyer of Maryville, and Danny and Rose Dyer of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 05, 2004 at Laurel Bank Cemetery, Rev. Clarence Richardson officiating. Interment will be immediately following the graveside service at Laurel Bank Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
INA WALKER KING
Ina Walker King, age 86 of Gardner, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Ottawa Community Hospital in Ottawa, IL. Born April 30, 1917 in Sevier County to the late John H. and Mary (Trotter) Walker. Ina was raised and educated in rural Sevier County. She married
Hoyel Sherman King December 22, 1939 and became a housewife and homemaker. In 1947 she and her husband moved to rural Kirksville, MO, where they lived for 20 years before moving to the Braceville-Gardner area in the mid 1960's. Sherman passed away June 24, 1983. Ina was a niece of the famed Walker sisters of Little Greenbriar, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. She researched and published a 'Who's Who' book about her family genealogy. She was a member of First Families of TN, an organization of descendants from families who settled in TN prior to statehood in 1796. Ina loved writing poetry and has had several poems published. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, crafting, and gardening. Ina was a former 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Headrick's Chapel in Sevier County and attended the Church of Hope in Gardner. She was involved with the Senior Citizen Center and the Rebecca Circle church group both in Gardner.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ernest and Lila Walker, George Walker, Roy Walker and Mattie Walker; seven sisters and four brothers-in-law, Ethel and Mack Maples, Minnie and John Maples, Pearl and Shannon Kirby, Marvin Trentham, Lucy Tallent, Edith Walker, Irene Walker; and an infant sister.
Survivors: children, John (Zelda) King, of Braceville, IL, Thelma (Lawrence) Buck, of South Wilmington, IL; grandchildren, Robin (Steve) Howard, of Wilmington, IL, Mark (Bobbi) King, of Gardner, Angela (David) Bexson, Sheri (William) Simms, Clayton (Heather) Buck, all of South Wilmington, IL; eight great-grandchildren, Trevor and Trent Howard, John Lawless, Kylie and Tori King, Cassi and Kristen Bexson, and Katie Simms; brother, Fred Walker, Wears Valley, TN; sister, Myrtle Trentham, of Loudon, TN; sister-in-law, Rowena Walker; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hickman officiating. Interment will follow in Mattox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mattox cemetery Fund, Cotter Circle, Sevierville, TN 37862. RUBY ULEEN PATTON
Ruby Uleen Patton, age 62, of Maryville passed away Wednesday night March 3, 2004 at Colonial Hills Nursing Home, after battling a long illness. preceded in death by parents, Willie Welch and Maude Campbell Welch; granddaughter, Sierra Brooke Ledbetter; sisters, Velma Bowers and Hazel Swanson; brothers, Lloyd Welch, Grady Welch, Gregory Welch and Billy Jr. Welch. She will be sadly missed by a loving and devoted husband of 44 years Charles E. Patton; daughters and son-in-law, Connie Patton and husband (like a son) Robert Ledbetter and Pamela Millsaps all of Maryville; grandchildren, Channing Ledbetter, Natasha Atkins Thomas and husband Jason all of Maryville, Curtis and Christopher Clark of Knoxville; sisters, Garnet Rose and Nona Welch both of Maryville, Christine and husband James V. Hall of Tellico Plains; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Abbie Millsaps Patton; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. MYERS, HERBERT F., 79, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at St. Mary's Warrick Hospital in Boonville, Ind. He was retired from the Warrick County Co-Op. Survivors: wife, Helen (Sasse) Myers; son, Robert Myers of Maryville; daughters, Patricia Romig of Tallahassee, Fla., Rebecca Starke of Evansville, Ind., Mary Lou Peyton of Evansville, Karen Myers of Tallahassee and Laura Engel of Chicago; sister, Mary Townley of Boonville; brother, Bill Myers of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren. Services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Bradley's Colonial Chapel in Boonville, continued at 10 a.m., at the St. Clement Catholic Church in Boonville with burial in the St. John's Catholic cemetery in Newburgh, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus prayer service.

John E. French, III, age 48 of Friendsville, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Loudon Health Care Center. He was preceded in death by his father, John E. French, Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Edith French of Friendsville; daughter, Stacy; son, John E. French, IV; 4 grandchildren; sister, Patsy French; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Billy Linginfelter, Linda and Chuck Waters; several nieces and nephews; special friend and care giver, Amy Whitehead; special friend, Wendell Curtis.

Harriet Melissa Cooper Powell, age 77, widow of Lloyd Powell, of Etowah, formerly of Monroe County, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, March 3, 2004 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. Daughter of the late John and Dora Cooper.
Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Harlon LeQuire, Greenback, Nancy and Bud Gilles, Athens, Phyllis Thomas, Dora and James Yoder, all of Etowah, Freda and Benny Evans, Englewood; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Etta Turner, Mohawk; several nieces and nephews.

Jerry E. Richardson, age 56 of Ohio, formerly of Maryville, passed away Monday, March 1, 2004, at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry E. Richardson.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Moore Richardson; fiancee, Joie Sloan; daughter, Amy Durham and husband, Justin; granddaughter, Ava Durham.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at St. John United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Longmire officiating. The entombment will follow in Sherwood Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Friday at the Church.
