FLOSSIE RIO WILLIAMS Flossie Rio Williams, age 98, formerly of 215 Pierce Street, Elizabethton, died Monday December 8, 2003 at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late A.B. and Loretta Frazier Williams. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton. Mrs. Williams was a retired school teacher after 44 years of service. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Williams Sr., a son, Clyde Williams Jr., and a infant son, Lloyd Edward Williams. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Katie Williams, Elizabethton, Gary and Sylvia Williams, Elizabethton, a daughter, Nona Sue Williams, North Miami Beach, FL, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one sister, Violet Branch, Elizabethton, several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Orville Stokes officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 11 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Mrs. McInturff was also a former employee of Bemberg Corporation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert McInturff, 1988, two brothers, Herman and Harold Malone, one sister, Juanita Malone, and a special friend, Dewey Collins. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Neer and Ethel Greer Oaks. She was a member of St. John Free Will Baptist Church. She had retired from Cloudland Elementary School in 2002 as a cook. She was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Oaks and five sisters Oda Johnson, Hazel Hayes, Elva Birchfield, Alice Beeler and Lola Church. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, R.J. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late John and Flossie Phillips Shell. He was a member of Keenburg Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother, L. J. Shell and four sisters, Grace Age, Mae Tipton, Charlotte Fazelle and Nell Whitehead. Survivors include two sisters, Berlyn Pardue of Augusta, GA, Dorothy Guinn, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral services for Luther Shell will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 26, at Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Rev. Erby M. McKinney, age 79, 151 Marion Branch Road, Elizabethton, TN, went home Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Mitchell Co., NC, he was the son of the late Hebert and Biddie Buchanan McKinney. He was a member of Doe River Baptist Church. Rev. McKinney was a graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute. Rev. McKinney was a retired minister and had pastored at several churches in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina for 48 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II in the South Pacific. He was preceded in death by an infant son, one brother, Wilkie McKinney and one sister, Ruth Green. Obituary for Richard L. Minton Richard L. Minton, age 72, of 513 Bunker Hill Road, Bluff City, TN, died Saturday January 24, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Minnie Blevins Minton. Mr. Minton was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Bluff City and retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 21 years of service. He was a 21 year U.S Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Minton was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife Frances Harrison Minton, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Renee Minton, Bluff City; Four Grandchildren, Cory Minton, Courtney Minton, Nick Minton, and Cody Minton, all of Bluff City; one brother, Kenneth Ray Minton, Bluff City; one sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Tom Lovelace, Hampton.
