JOEY PENDLEY Joey Pendley, age 38, 108 Crabtree Road, Roan Mountain died Monday August 25 2003 due to injuries received in a accident. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC. He was the son of Lorraine Huskins, Newland, NC, and the late Jack Ray Pendley. He was co-owner and operator of Pendley Paving Co. Mr. Pendley was also a coach for Cloudland Pee-Wee Football. Survivors include his wife Heather Dawn Pendley, of the home, three sons, Joseph Ray Pendley, Joshua Donald Pendley and Jayden Jack Pendley all of the home, four brothers, Larry Jack Pendley, Los Angeles, CA, Steve Pendley, Spruce Pine, NC, Chucky Pendley, Spruce Pine, NC, Billy Ray Pendley, Spruce Pine, NC, two sisters, Susan Willis, Spruce Pine, NC, Tammy Willis, Bakersville, NC, several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews and cousins also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Roy Messer and Rev. Richard Sheppard officiating. OBITRUARY AND FUNERAL NOTICE: KATHERINE D. SENTER Katherine D. Senter, formerly of 1204 Michigan Avenue, Elizabethton died Sunday, October 5, 2003 at the Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, following an extended illness. A native of Knoxville, TN she had resided in Elizabethton over 60 years. She was the daughter of the late James W. and Irene Gilbert Dance. Mrs. Senter was a member of First Baptist Church, Elizabethton, The John Carter Chapter of the D.A.R., the Chamber of Commerce and was a retail merchant. She and her husband, James Kyle Senter, who died January 1, 1996, formerly owned and operated Kyle’s Corner, Pine and E Street, Elizabethton. She was preceded in death by one sister, Inez Clemons Wahl; four brothers, Gilbert Dance, John Dance, Joe Dance and James Dance. Survivors include one sister, Helen D. Tate, Elizabethton, four nieces, Carolyn T. Dugger, Elizabethton, Joi Dance West, Johnson City, Bonnie Thornton, Louisville, KY and Kathy Gallaher, Kawkawlin, Michigan, two nephews, Ed Dance and John Dance both of Johnson City. DALLAS M. LOWE Dallas M. Lowe, age 63, 1435 Broad Street, Elizabethton died Friday, August 22, 2003 at his residence. A native of Elizabethton he was the son of the late Earl and Hallie Echols Lowe. He was a member of Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired employee of T.V.A. as a pipefitter. He was a member of Pipefitters Union Local #538. Mr. Lowe was a 1959 graduate of Unaka High School, was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a loyal supporter to Unaka High School basketball and football programs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Lowe. Survivors include his wife, Jean Lowe, of the home, four sons and three daughters-in-law, Forrest Lowe, Elizabethton, Bobby and Vickie Winters, Elizabethton, Keith and Stephanie Richardson, Knoxville, Ritchie and Vickie Burrow, Elizabethton, one grandson, Caleb Richardson, Knoxville, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Raymond Lowe, Shona and Lois Lowe, all of Elizabethton, sister, Frances Davenport, Elizabethton, sister-in-law, Shirley Nicholson, Elizabethton, several nieces and nephews also survive. POLLY JAMES JOHNSON Polly James Johnson, 201 W. Mill Street, Elizabethton died Friday, August 22, 2003 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Boone, NC, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Callie Miller James. She was of the Baptist faith. She was owner/operator of Besty Beauty Salon, and had been instructor for Paul’s School of Hair Design. She was a member of National Hair Dresser Association, she was also a member of Order of Eastern Star #163. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Johnson, two sisters, Lahoma Taylor, Margaret Greenwell, two brothers, Jesse James, and Vilas Miller. ROBERT C. MEREDITH Robert C. Meredith, age 91, 709 West “H” Street, Elizabethton died Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at James H. Quillen Veterans Medical Center Nursing Home following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late William Robert and Minnie C. Garrison Meredith. He was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church. He was a retired supervisor from Bemberg. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served during World War II, during his enlistment he received two bronze stars and one silver star. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veda Treadway Meredith, four brothers and five sisters. Survivors include one sister, Ruby Donnelly, Orlando, FL, several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Howard Messer officiating. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William L. and Anna Bell Shell. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and a former employee of the Mother Parts. Mr. Shell was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Herman Shell in November 10, 1999. Survivors include: One daughter, Carole A. Brookshire, Elizabethton; one son and daughter-in-law, Norris and Sharon Shell, Elizabethton, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Ruth Milam Rouse, age 94, formerly of 137 Ruby Ave., Elizabethton, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the home of a daughter, Helen Tester, 4001 Navaho Dr., Johnson City following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, Mrs. Rouse had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was the daughter of the late T.A. & Mae Ray Milam. Mrs. Rouse was a member of Doe River Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death on January 10, 1983, by her husband, Benjamin P. Rouse; a son, Wade Rouse; two sisters; four brothers; two great grandchildren & two sons-in-law. Survivors include two daughters, Helen Tester of Johnson City and Jean Campbell of Elizabethton; a brother, Charles Milam of Johnson City; two sisters, Pauline McJunkin & Sue Campbell both of Elizabethton; four grandchildren & spouses, Ruth & Rev. A native of Sykesville, Maryland, (Howard County), but he had lived in Carter County for the past 24 years. He was the son of the late Charlie Egolf and the late Blanche Buckingham Egolf Penn. He was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church. Mr. Egolf was a retired employee from Vaughn Furniture, Johnson City, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Faye Egolf and one brother Lewis Egolf. FRANK R. RICHARDSON Frank R. Richardson, age 77, 1503 Squibb Dr., Johnson City, died Monday, September 22, 2003 at North Side Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late R.D. and Irene Oaks Richardson. He was a member and former Deacon of First Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton. Mr. Richardson was a former Carter County Deputy Sheriff in the 1950's and went to work with the Tennessee Highway Patrol in the 1960's, from where he retired as Lieutenant after serving 26 years. He was a Deputy Court Bailiff with the Washington County Sheriff Department, he was also a current Washington County Commissioner having served for over 10 years. Mr. Richardson was a foreman of the Washington County Grand Jury. He was a member of the Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486 F. & A.M. 32 Degree Mason and Scottish Rite. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Donnelly. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sue Campbell Richardson, of the home, one son, Kelly Richardson, Johnson City, three brothers, Dennis Richardson, Roanoke, VA, Ray Richardson, Donald Richardson, Thomas Quinton Richardson, all of Elizabethton, several nieces and nephews also survive.
