Judkins

63 year old Violet Mae Judkins of Smithville died Saturday at her residence of a short illness. She was a homemaker and a member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Jaco-Judkins cemetery in the Jefferson Community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Opal Jett Henciear; and a son, Allan Judkins. She is survived by her husband, John A. Judkins of Smithville. Two sons, Edward and John A. Judkins, Jr. of Smithville. A daughter, Elsie Judkins of Smithville. A step-daughter, Tracie Applegate of Monticello, Indiana. Eight grandchildren, Eddie Lee, Amanda and Lydia Judkins, Shelly and Brandy Newby, Jacob, Nikki, and Deborah Applegate. One great granddaughter, Megan Judkins. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.

Wells

72 year old Ruth Wells of Smithville died Tuesday night at Centennial Medical Center of an extended illness. She was a restaurant owner and a member of the Church of God. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Donnie Kelly will officiate and burial will be in the Bonham Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Wells; a daughter, Debra Wells; parents, Wilson and Mettie Lee Moore Staley; brothers, Dale and Dan Staley; and sisters, Rubye Caldwell and Josie Puckett. She is survived by a son, Wayne Wells and his fiance Yvonne Boyd of Columbus, Ohio. A sister, Sue Ramsey of Smithville and several nieces and nephews. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Broussard

92 year old Ruth Lee Walls Broussard of Louisiana died Saturday. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Maxwell will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. She was a retired employee of J.C. Penny. Broussard was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Broussard; her father, Thomas Walls; her mother, Penelope (Neppie) Walls; step-mother, Bethel Walls; sister, Bettie Walls Cassidy; seven brothers, Frank Falson Walls, William Thurston Walls, James Monroe Walls, Ellie Heard Walls, Thomas Henry Walls, Don Repsie Walls, and Davis Eugene Walls. She is survived by three sisters, Martha Helen Webb, Marie and her husband Richard McLemore, and Emily Delores and her husband Beecher Howell. Four daughters, Florene Redmon Sanders, Virginia Ruth Redmon and her husband Larry Maxwell, Neppie Sue Redmon and her husband Clyde Albritton, Betty Kathryn Redmon and her husband William (Butch) James. Eleven grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Clemons

73 year old Roosevelt Clemons of Lebanon did Wednesday at University Medical Center. He was a DeKalb County native, a retired employee of TRW Ross Gear, a member of the Fairview Church, and a member of the Lebanon Senior Citizens and Northwood Ancient Craft Lodge #551 F &AM in Madison Heights, Michigan. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon. Michael Christian will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens in Smithville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Byrd and Ethel Holland Clemons and two brothers, Lionel and Fayron Clemons. He is survived by his wife, Jane Sullins Clemons. Two sisters, Janie Foster of Lebanon and Katie and her husband Morris Lafever of Cookeville. Three brothers, Arvil Clemons of Crossville, Byrd and his wife Ruby Clemons, Jr. of Silver Point, and Arthur and his wife Diane Clemons of Knoxville. Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A Masonic Chapel Service will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon. The family requests that memorials be made to HOPE Builders at the Fairview Church.

Chalfant

63 year old Marilyn Kay Chalfant of Smithville died Friday morning at DeKalb Hospital. She was a retired Texas Boot Manager, and a member of the Buckner's Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Ronald Whited will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. She was preceded in death by her father, Pete Lynch. She is survived by her husband, Don Chalfant of Smithville. Her mother, Evelyn Campbell. A daughter, Dawn and her husband Donnie Christian of Rock Island. A son, Donny Paul and his wife Carmella Chalfant of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Lou Christian of Rock Island and Axyl Kane Chalfant and Elizabeth Ann Chalfant both of Smithville. A sister, Linda and her husband Danny Thomas of Linton, Indiana. A niece, Dana Thomas of Indianapolis. A nephew, Doug Thomas of Linton, Indiana. Several aunts and uncles also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.

Taylor

78 year old Kathleen Taylor of Smithville died Thursday at Hickey's Residential Home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jerry Smith will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. She is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Tommy and Vivian Garrison and Sam and Mitzi Taylor all of Smithville, Dowell Parks of Kentucky, and Rick and Sandy Parks of Michigan. One daughter, Annetta Parks of Michigan. Six grandchildren. One brother, Bob Steele of South Carolina and one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Pete Carol. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. The family requests that all donations be made in lieu of flowers to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home for burial expenses.

Adams

53 year old Jim Adams of the Johnson's Chapel Community died Friday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was a retired employee of Save-A-Lot in Smithville. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Allen's Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Ronald Whited and Tim Ferguson will officiate and burial will be in the Bonham Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Barbara McKowan Adams and a brother Tom Adams. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Adams of Sparta. Two daughters, Becky and her husband Bart Taylor of Carthage and Allison Adams of Lavergne. Three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Mike Hargrove and Patti and Ronnie Claiborne all of Murfreesboro, and Amy and David Ward of Washington. Several nieces and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at the church. The family requests that donations be made to the Allen's Chapel United Methodist Church or to DeKalb Funeral Chapel in lieu of flowers.

Reneau

82 year old Mildred "MA" Evans Reneau of Smithville died Thursday night at DeKalb Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount View The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and burial will be in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Lula Ferrell Miller; husbands, Ervin Adcock and Willie Evans; three brothers, Oliver, Tom, and Aubrey Miller; and a sister, Margie Washer. She is survived by her husband, John Reneau; one daughter, Jean Hooper Clendenon; one son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Wanda Adcock all of Smithville. Two sons by a previous marriage, Eugene Evans of Alabama and James and his wife Ruth Pirtle of Smithville. Twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. One brother, James "Doober" Miller and a sister, Dorothy Vanatta both of Smithville. Many nieces, nephews, and special friends survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m.

Herman

61 year old Bobby Richard Herman of McMinnville died Wednesday morning in an automobile accident in DeKalb County. He was a Warren County native, a member of the Smyrna Church of Christ, a truck driver and tow motor operator for Keebler Bakery. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Johnny Clayton and Robert Jefferies will officiate and burial will be in the Smyrna Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billye Stepp Herman; his parents, John and Daisey Herman; and sisters, Frances Turner and Carol Ann Herman. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley and Jason C. Tubbs of McMinnville. A sister, Kathy Reeder of Smithville. Three brothers, John E. Herman of McMinnville, Kenneth R. Herman of the Dibrell Community, and Jacky L. Herman of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews. A sister-in-law, Shirley Denton of McMinnville. Two brothers-in-law, Fred Stepp of McMinnville and Bill Step of Jacksonville, Florida. A step grandchild, Jason Clay Tubbs III of Kentucky. Life long family friend, Tracey McBride Hutchins of McMinnville. High Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

The funeral for 84 year old Foil Estes Jones will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Crestlawn Funeral Home in Cookeville and burial will be in the Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery. A native of Smithville, Jones is survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lester and Virginia Huddleston of Cookeville, George and Helen Palmer, of Michigan, and Mack and Glenda Palmer of McMinnville, and Bobby and Sarah Palmer of Cookeville. Sister-in-law, Ruth Palmer of South Carolina . He was preceded in death by his parents, Yuel and Ida Jones, his wife, Beatrice Sissie Jones, and a brother and sister. Crestlawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
