Phillips

41 year old Walter Louis ( Big Walt) Phillips of Smithville died Sunday morning of an extended illness at Baptist Hospital. He was a factory worker and a member of the Northside Church of Christ. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burnes Lyons will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Monica Daniel Phillips of Smithville. Two children, Walter Chase and Hannah Danielle Phillips. His parents, Walter C. and Louise Phillips of Smithville. A brother, Bobby and his wife Brenda Hunt of Nashville. Two sisters, Cecilia Phillips of Smithville and Juanita and her husband Troy Lusk of Manchester. Two nieces, Tina Young of Sparta and Fah Louise Hadley of California. Devoted nephew, Donald Lusk of Smithville. Three other nephews, Corey and Trevor Young of Sparta and Zachary Hadley of California. Four uncles, Billy Phillips, Sr. of Smithville, William and his wife Melissa Griffith of Nashville, John F. and his wife Shirley Griffith of Lebanon, and Jimmy and his wife Elaine Phillips of Maryland. Three aunts, Minnie and her husband William Hurd of Smithville, Theo Phillips of Nashville, and Sammie Wynn of Nashville. Devoted God-sister, Dorothy Hayes of Smithville. Mother-in-law, Holly Barnes of Smithville. Brother-in-law, Matthew Daniel of Smithville. Grandfather-in-law, Malcolm Lee of Dowelltown and devoted cousins, friends, and in-laws also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Public viewing will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with family visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel in lieu of flowers.

Turner

88 year old James F. Turner of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Hospital. He was a farmer, factory worker, and a member of the Bethel Methodist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Royce Martin and Wilson Williams will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Gladys Parker Turner; four brothers, Charles, J.C., Jack, and Edward Turner; and a grandson, Trey Hicks III. Survivors include his wife, Jodie Underwood Turner of Smithville. One daughter and son-in-law, Evon and Jim Hicks of Cookeville. One son and daughter-in-law, Hugh Riley and Bennie Lou Turner of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Lee Hicks of Boston, Jim Bob and Conethia Turner of Smithville, and Meredith and Jerry Cantrell of McMinnville. One great grandchild, Treyton Cantrell of McMinnville. Four sisters, Audrey Webb of Smithville, Betty Jean Conrad of Michigan, Mary Ellen Couch of Manchester, and Helen Todd of Readyville. One brother, Ernest Turner of McMinnville. Two sisters-in-law, Donice Turner of Kentucky and Blanche Turner of Manchester. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Cantrell

90 year old James Webb Cantrell of McMinnville died Wednesday of an extended illness at NHC Healthcare Center. He was co-founder and co-owner of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with Tommy Love in March 1950. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church, member of the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association, Lion's Club, Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, Stones River Region A.A.C.A and various clubs, and he sold caskets for the Bland Casket Company for fifteen years. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell and Cope Funeral Home in McMinnville. Nester Stewart will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Grover F. Cantrell and Martha Potter Cantrell. Six brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Doris Powell Julian Cantrell of McMinnville. Daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and David Aycock of McMinnville and Sandra and Larry Rigsby of Murfreesboro. A step-daughter and her husband, Wanda and Joe Taylor of Auburn, Kentucky. A sister, Evelyn Ruth Cantrell Parsley of Warren, Michigan. Grandchildren, Michelle and her husband John David Todd of Murfreesboro, Greg and his wife Cynthia Taylor of Cookeville, and Melissa Rigsby of Murfreesboro. Step-grandchildren, Harry Bryan of El Paso, Texas, Lee Ann and her husband Jay Long of Erie, Pennsylvania, Adam Aycock of Freesburg, Virginia, and April Bryant of Cleveland, Tennessee. Four great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell and Cope Funeral Home in McMinnville is in charge of the arrangements.

Johnson

38 year old Carolyn Louise Johnson of Smithville died Wednesday from injuries in a motor vehicle accident. She was a homemaker and a non-denominational Christian. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Dr. Ronnie Pierce will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Sharder and her step-father, Latin Bunch. Survivors include her husband, David Johnson of Monterey. A son, Jason Moore of Smithville. Two daughters, Amanda and Felicia Moore of Smithville. Her mother, Carol Bunch of Big Sandy; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Wilma Johnson of Monterey. One sister, Carrie Crosit of Big Sandy. The family has requested that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Wright

90 year old Mrs. Frankie Bradley Wright of Alexandria died Sunday at Carthage General Hospital. The body is at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria where the funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. James Owen will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Memorial cemetery in Alexandria. She is survived by a daughter, Judy Smithson of Alexandria. A son, Jackie Louis Wright of Watertown. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A brother, Dewitt Bradley of Carthage. The family will receive friends at the Avant Chapel on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m. Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Kephart

90 year old Mrs. Grady B. Kephart of Alexandria died Sunday at her home. She was a Smith County native. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Phillip Dougan will officiate and burial will be in the Harpeth Hills cemetery in Nashville. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harv and Sudie Thompson Hensley; her husband Emmitt Lewis and a son, Terry Lewis. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Williams of Alexandria, Kathy and her husband Bubba Holloway of Bon Aqua, and Patricia Ann Frame of Nashville. Two sons, Eddie Kephart of Nashville and Bobby and his wife Donna Kephart of Manchester. Eighteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. A half sister, Beatrice Byrd and a step-son, Tracy Kephart. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that contributions be made to the family toward final expenses in lieu of flowers.

Barnes

66 year old Hobart David Barnes of Alexandria died Sunday at his residence. He was a DeKalb County native, a carpenter and a farmer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Upper Helton Baptist Church where he was a member. Thurman Seber will officiate and burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Barnes and Ruby Lawrence Barnes; his first wife, Jimmie Mai Barnes; and brothers, Lonnie and George Barnes. Survivors include his wife, Linda Barnes. A daughter, Sharon Hendrixson of Alexandria. A son, James David Barnes of Alexandria. A brother, J.D. Barnes of Crossville, and two sisters, Louise Anderson of Watertown and Bonnie Lee Turner of Smithville. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

Culver

61 year old Gladys Lucille Culver of Sparta died Friday of an extended illness at Saint Thomas Hospital. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Little Salt River cemetery in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lucille Loretta Krick Myers; a sister, Norma Shoultes; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Myers. She is survived by her husband, Larry Culver of Sparta. Four children, Larry G., David, Kimberly, and Michael Culver all of Sparta. A brother, George "Bill" Myers and seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Shaun, Loretta, Dyman, Joseph, Matthew, Dymon, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday from noon until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Knowles

35 year old Paulette Yvonne Knowles of Smithville died Monday night in a car accident near Sligo. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Gary Scott will officiate and burial will be in the Highland cemetery in Sparta. She is survived by a son, Billy Knowles, Jr. and a daughter and Sasha Suzanne Knowles both of Smithville. The father of her children, Billy Lee Knowles of Sparta. Her mother and step father, Beth and Roy Gann of Readyville. Her father, Paul Nash of Cookeville. Two brothers, Donnie Tayes of Baxter and Shannon Tayes of Smithville. Her step-parents, Don and Becky Tayes of Nashville and the children's grandparents, Bill Knowles and Sue Hunter. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.

Snow

82 year old Wiley James Snow of Smithville died Monday at his residence. He was a Masonry Contractor and a member and deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church. Snow was also a World War II veteran, member of Liberty Lodge #77, Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason, Shriner, member of the American Legion, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. B.J. Thomason and Jason Lohorn will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Virgie Mangrum Snow; a brother, Howard Snow; two infant brothers, Carl Jackson and Willie Lee Snow; and a sister, Frances Poss. Survivors include his wife, Emogene Cantrell Snow of Smithville. Six children, Brenda and her husband Donald Puckett, Joyce and her husband Jimmy Poss, Deborah and her husband Kenneth Magness, Denise and her husband David Rutland, Dwain and his wife Cathy Snow, and Jeanna and her husband Troy Bain all of Smithville. Two brothers, Robert and his wife Mary Snow of Smithville and Edgar and his wife Nora Snow of Knoxville. Four sisters, Joanna Moore of Smithville, Elizabeth Edwards of Lebanon, Eleanor Burns of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mary and her husband Gene Morgan of Cookeville. Fifteen grandchildren, Shawn, Randall, and Brian Puckett, Tony Poss, Tonya Hattaway, Kenderly Cripps, Ryan and Nathan Magness, D.J. Rutland, Trista Armour, Eric and Andy Snow, Misty Gingerich, T.J. Bain, and Dalton Bain all of Smithville. Fourteen great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. A Masonic Service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.
