Mears
79 year old John Mears of Woodbury died at his home on Thursday of a short illness. He was a retired farmer, Cannon County native, World War II U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the Mount Aarat Church of Christ. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home and burial will be in the Center Hill Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradley Mears and Ida Bell Higgins Mears and a step-son, Charlie Mathis. He is survived by his wife, Nannie Bell Mears of Woodbury. A step-son, Robert Mathis of Woodbury. A step-daughter, Mazel Mathis of Woodbury. A brother, Clarence Mears of Woodbury. Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation starts Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and continues until the funeral on Sunday.

John Martin Reynolds of Dowelltown died Monday evening at his home of an extended illness. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Reynolds of Dowelltown. 87 year old Clara F. Colwell of Smithville died Monday at Baptist DeKalb Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Brethren in Christ. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Steffee and Trent Colwell will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hessie Elkins Summers; her husband, Abe Colwell; five sisters, Martha Summers, Cora Williams, Betty Calhoun, Jean Caldwell, and Lorene Redmon; and one brother, Jack Summers. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and James Dunn of Smithville, Ella Rhea and Tommy Hale of Watertown, and Sandra and Roger Kirby of McMinnville. Two sons and daughters-in-law, Len and Brenda Colwell of Smithville and Austin and Gracie Colwell of Smithville. Ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. One sister, Hazel Emberton of Smithville and several nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday until the time of the funeral.

93 year old Vallie Rebekah Cantrell of McMinnville died Monday at River Park Hospital of an extended illness. She was a DeKalb County native, a homemaker, and a member of the New Bybee's Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home. Tim Lewis and Terry Watts will officiate and burial will be in the New Bybee's Chapel Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lachlan Cantrell; a daughter, Nadell Grissom; two sisters, Pauline Baumwart and Shellie Mayfield; and three brothers, James Arthur Martin, Grady Martin, and Harim Martin. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Melba and Arnold Watts of McMinnville and Nadean and Jimmy Taylor of Dowelltown. A sister, Eloise Massie of Amarillo, Texas. Five grandchildren, Terry Watts, Rhonda Newby, and Gayle Caldwell all of McMinnville, Tim Watts of Manchester, and Jan Taylor of Smithville. Six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter also survives. The Cantrell family will receive friends Monday until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. 99 year old Linnie H. Fuson of Knoxville died Saturday at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. She was a member of the Woodbine Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Nashville. A graveside service will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens weather permitting. If not then services will be held at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Eugene Thompson will officiate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Florence Brock Hooper; siblings, Vallie, Benton, and Dubbie (Judkins); her eldest son, Ralph Fuson, Sr.; and her husband, Lemuel Fuson. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Joan Fuson of Louisville, Kentucky; Jack and Ruth Fuson of Knoxville; nine grandchildren, Ralph Fuson, Jr., Sam Fuson, Jr. Mark, Lonnie, Melissa, Keith, Kent, Dawn, and Brock Fuson; and three nieces, Idell Spann, Violet Fuson, and Eulaliah Vaughn.
