Joan Faye Fitts

72 year old Joan Faye Fitts of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired factory worker and a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Byron Fitts; her parents, Haskel and Loretta Slatton Young; two brothers, Morris and Gene Young and a sister, Joy Leighty. Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Knopp of Smithville. Two sons, Ricky Fitts of Smithville and Jeremy Fitts of Nashville. Three grandchildren, Carrie Talley of Alexandria and Kayla Edwards and Derrick Fitts both of Smithville. Two sisters, Betty Sue Herndon of Smithville and Patricia Ann Sain of Hermitage. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Louise Medlen Jacobs

90 year old Louise Medlen Jacobs of Smithville died Thursday at NHC of Smithville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren C. and Leatha Jones Medlen; her husband, Bill Leon Jacobs; two brothers, Fred and Howard Medlen; and a sister Irene Medley. Survivors include a son Shawn and his wife Karen Jacobs; a granddaughter, Caitlin Jacobs; and a step-grandson, Justin Nokes all of Smithville along with several nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to the Byrd L. Jones cemetery Fund, in lieu of flowers.

Roy D. Williams

69 year old Roy D. Williams of Christiana, Tennessee and a native of Liberty died Thursday at his residence. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Smyrna and a retired employee of Trinidad-Benham, Inc. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Jennings and Ayers Chapel in Murfreesboro. Carl Saddler will officiate and burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ola Mai Dedman Williams and a daughter, Venus Williams. Survivors include his wife Joann Waggoner Williams of Christiana. Two daughters, Annette and her husband Kenneth Warrick and Janette and her husband Steve Dykes all of Murfreesboro. Two brothers, John Edward and his wife Doris Williams of Smithville and James Williams of Smith County. Two sisters, Marie Rucker of Alexandria and Louise Swinea of Hartsville. Grandchildren, Ray Warrick, Nathan Warrick, Kyle Dykes, and Hanna Warrick. The Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home in Murfreesboro is in charge of the arrangements. Beulah Greer Evans

89 year old Beulah Greer Evans of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was a retired nurse and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church at Dowelltown. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bill Robertson and Elmer Ellis, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Beulah Tramel Williams and two husbands, Jesse E. Greer and W.T. Evans. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Carroll Greer of Goodlettsville. Two daughters and a son-in-law, Sue and Elmer Ellis, Jr. of Temperance Hall and Becky Hobbs of Smithville. Eight grandchildren, Donnie, Ronnie, and Connie Greer, Tammy Herrington, Jeff and Jamie Ellis, Amanda Goodwin, and Marla Beshearse. Seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Ann Adcock

61 year old Betty Ann Adcock of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sink Creek Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Wendell Judkins will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Woods and Minervia Durham Peoples; a daughter, Lori Smith; sisters, Ruby Bates, Margaret Martin, and Minnie Jo Hattaway; and brothers, Leon Peoples, Sampson Peoples, and Harvey Neal Peoples. Survivors include her husband, Joel Adcock of Smithville. Two daughters, Connie Denise and her husband Tony Bailey of Alexandria and Sherry Wynette and her husband Joe Judkins of Smithville. Grandchildren, Leslie Bailey and Jordan Judkins. Brothers, Harold Peoples and David Peoples of South Pittsburgh and sisters, Mary Lou Campbell of South Pittsburgh and Imogene Ellision of Atlanta, Georgia. Richard Allen "Rick" Senecal

65 year old Richard Allen "Rick" Senecal of Smithville died Tuesday at his residence. He was an active member of the New Home Baptist Church and a retired electrician with the City of Lakeland, Florida. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Josh Hale will officiate and burial will be in the New Salem cemetery in New Salem, Kentucky at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Irma Croteau. Senecal is survived by his wife, Marilyn Joan Vinson of Smithville. A daughter, Dawn Martin of Massachusetts. Step-children, Charles Stephen and wife Julianna Johnson of Kings Mills, Ohio and Cynthia Lynn Johnson and husband Dan Stroup of North Carolina. Grandchildren, Tiffany and Nicholas Martin of Massachusetts, and Ashley and Samuel Johnson of King Mills, Ohio. A brother, Ronald and wife Karen Senecal of New Hampshire. Several special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to the New Home Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Lighthouse Christian Camp, in lieu of flowers.

Junior Keith

86 year old Junior Keith of Smithville died Saturday at Vanderbilt Hospital. He was owner and operator of Keith & Son Trucking. He was also a member of the Mount Moriah The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tim Pelham and Tim Pack will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Ararat Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvia and Hattie Wooden Keith; grandchild, Leslie Knott; six brothers, Robert, James, Lovell, George, Tom, and John Keith; and a sister, Bonnie Tramel Childress. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine McGee Keith of Smithville. A daughter, Joan and husband Danny Washer of Smithville. A son, Jimmy and wife Linda Keith of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Lori and Tim Panter, Jennifer Knott, Adam and Amanda Washer, Andrew Keith, and Nicholas Keith all of Smithville, and Ross Keith of Knoxville. Five great grandchildren, Jacob Pedigo, Hannah Panter, Justin Poss, McKayla Poss, and Haylie Washer all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

84 year old Anna Elizabeth Scott of Cottontown and formerly of DeKalb County died Sunday at her residence. She was born in DeKalb County, a retired factory worker, and a member of the Fullers Chapel Methodist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Javin Lawson, Thomas Hale, and Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Belvie Herman Hale; her husband of 50 years, David D. Scott; two brothers, James "Big Stoop" Hale and Kenneth Hale; and two sisters, Ofallon Malone and Morene Scott. Survivors include children, Bruce and wife Michelle Scott of Cottontown and Beverly and husband John Cannady of Colonial Heights, Virginia. Grandchildren, Derek Cannady, Blakely Cannady, and Jordan Cannady of Virginia and Justin Scott of Cottontown. Sisters and brothers, Inez Anderson, Willette Hale, Jack and wife Aundra Hale, and Betty and husband Charles Clayborn all of Alexandria. A sister-in-law, Frances Hale. Burial will be in Salem cemetery at Liberty Survivors include his wife Debbie McDowell Oberdorf of Liberty; daughter: Stacey and husband Paul Harvey of Mt. Juliet; step-son: Charlie and wife Cassie Madison of Mt. Juliet; father: William Oberdorf Sr.; sister: Leslie and husband Kenny Ryder; godchild: Rachel Marie Hudson; special family friends: Mariann and Richard Hudson and Ed Good. He was preceded in death by his mother Mittie Oberdorf.

Mildred Hillis McClain

85 year old Mildred Hillis McClain, a Vervilla Community resident and Van Buren County native died Wednesday at her residence following an extended illness. A homemaker and member of the Pleasant Knoll Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late James Robert "Jim Bob" and Lena Hillis. Her husband Clifford Franklin McClain preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, James Willard and Pauline Hillis and brother-in-law, Thomas H. Tolbert. She is survived by one sister, Wilma Tolbert of Nashville; brother and sister-in-law, William Loyd and Dorothy Hillis of Fairborn, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Richard and Faye McClain, Nancy and Steve Helton and Phillip and Fredia Reynolds all of Morrison, Iona and David King and Frank and Sharon Reynolds both of McMinnville, Phyllis Reynolds of Calhoun, Georgia, Kay and George Thaxton of Viola, Ann Womack of Manchester, Harrell and Gwen Tolbert of Smithville, Tommy and Melissa Tolbert of Nashville, Betty and Larry Underwood of Huber Heights, Ohio and Debbie Hillis of Fairborn, Ohio; aunt, Elizabeth Hillis of the Rocky River Community; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville with Jerry Finney and Harrell Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Morrison Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at High's.
