Justin Dale Waggoner

54 year old Justin Dale Waggoner of Sparta died at his residence on Friday. He was a factory worker, employed at the Smithville Shirt Factory and later at Federal Mogul. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. Frank Davis will officiate and burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Omaze Lee Waggoner. Survivors include his wife, Melonia Waggoner of Sparta. Four brothers, Carson and wife Linda Waggoner of Lebanon, Gene and wife Linda Waggoner of Liberty, Jerry and wife Leann Waggoner of Smithville, and Tony Waggoner of Smithville. Three sisters, Sue and husband Bill Johnson of Lebanon, Marie and husband Doyle Washer of Smithville, and Angela and husband Billy Wayne Tisdale of Smithville. William W. (Bill) Merriman

78 year old William W. (Bill) Merriman of Smithville died Saturday at NHC of Smithville. He was a retired farmer and a Freewill Baptist. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dillard Johnson and Donnie Kelly will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Annie Underhill Merriman; his wife, Johnnie Mary Colwell Merriman; six brothers, Lillard, Hervie, J.E., Tom, Oliver, and Jack Merriman; and five sisters, Lillie and Gracie Murphy, Louise and Lee Bratcher, and Parlie Merriman. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Hugh Willingham; two sons, Mitchell Merriman and Steve and his wife Judy Merriman; seven grandchildren, Martin and Delia Willingham, Brittany, Adriana, Dallas, Jake, Joyce, and Steve Merriman; three great grandchildren, Hailee, Austin, and Annabelle Merrriman; and a brother, Joe Merriman all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, in lieu of flowers, to help with funeral expenses.

Lisa Diane Ferrell

45 year old Lisa Diane Ferrell of Smithville died Monday at Centennial Medical Center. She was a member of the Church of God, a mother, and a homemaker. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie and Daisy Ferrell, Carmen and Louise Hendrixson, and mother-in-law, Wilma Ferrell. Survivors include her husband, Wade Ferrell of Smithville. Children, Shaun, David, Zack, Hannah, Rachel, Emiliee, and Collin Ferrell. Parents, Water and Faye Ferrell of Smithville. A brother, Davey and wife Jessica Ferrell of Smithville. Special friend, Rebecca Brewer. Father-in-law, Ellis Ferrell of Smithville. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marshall and Beverly Ferrell, Frances and Ricky Martin, and Darnette Hibdon all of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Alta Washer Fitts Payne

90 year old Alta Washer Fitts Payne of Alexandria died Saturday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. She was born on Walkers Creek, the daughter of the late Haley Taylor and Grover Washer. She worked for many years at the Alexandria Shirt Company and retired from Hartmann Luggage Company. She was a member of the West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Ben Simpson will officiate and burial will be in the New Hope cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, John T. Washer, James W. Washer, William L, Washer, Frances Hunt, Christine Bragg, and Elizabeth Christian. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ruby G. Fitts in 1967. She later married Charles Payne and he preceded her in death in 2003. A son, James. T. Fitts preceded her in death in 1995. She is survived by six children, Joe G. and wife Lucille Fitts of Temperance Hall, Stephen and wife Jona Fitts of Brush Creek, Mary Ray of Brush Creek, Patricia and husband Buddy Bain of Alexandria, Brenda Wooden of Alexandria, and Barbara and husband Tommy Ray of Gordonsville. Daughter-in-law, Gladys Fitts of Brush Creek. Seventeen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Sisters, Molly Nolen of Hickman, Dorothy and husband Willie Bass of Mount Juliet, and Marie and husband Billy Hatcher of Mount Juliet. Sister-in-law, Ruth Washer of Gordonsville. Avant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Delcie Mae Ervin

87 year old Delcie Mae Ervin died Saturday at her daughter's residence. She was born in DeKalb County and a homemaker. She was also a member of the Pentecostal faith. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic. Ricky Mitchell, David Snowden, and Alfred Basham will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View cemetery in McMinnville. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lee and Etter Green Bain; husband, Robert Ervin; children, Geneva McClellan, Arthur Ervin, Peggy Adamson, and Margaret Smith; a grandson, Douglas Smith; brothers and sisters, Hurbert Bain, Bobby Bain, Rubin Bain, Lonnie Bain, and Minnie Farless. Survivors include children and their spouses, Paul Ervin of McMinnville, Emma Jean and Carl Poss of McMinnville, Janet Neal of Smithville, and Linda and Tony Fults of McMinnville. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. God daughter, Tammy Pepper Bell and God son, Ricky Mitchell. High Funeral Home in McMinnville is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon Bibles.

Hoyte Cantrell

76 year old Hoyte Cantrell of Smithville died Sunday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a farmer. The family has chosen cremation. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mattie Adcock Cantrell; brothers, Gene Cantrell, Carl Cantrell, John Cantrell, and Joseph Cantrell; and sisters, Katy Cantrell, Josie Shehane, and Macon Haas. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Ernestine and Eddie Young of Smithville; Sister-in-law, Faye Cantrell of Smithville; special niece, Melba Vinca of Smithville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Minnie Mai Pascal

64 year old Minnie Mai Pascal of Smithville died Sunday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Christian and a former shirt factory worker. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Howard and Margie Rae Gibbs Reynolds. Survivors include her husband, Shirley Austin Pascal of Smithville. Four children, Patricia Ann Taylor and Joe David Taylor of Wilson County, Brenda Sue Tucker Napier of Smithville, and William Edward Taylor of Kentucky. Three grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Tucker, Brandon Dewayne Tucker, and Mark Fish, Jr. all of Smithville. Six great grandchildren. Two brothers, William Howard Reynolds, Jr. and Jimmy Lee Reynolds. Two sisters, Geneva Elizabeth Jewell and Becky Jones. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Wally Whalen

90 year old Wally Whalen of Alexandria died Thursday at his residence. He was a member of the Prosperity Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Chief Petty Officer in the Signalman Corps. Whalen also retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982 and farmed in Alexandria since his retirement. The funeral will be Monday at 7:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Thurman Seber will officiate and burial will be in the Middle Tennessee Veterans cemetery with Military Honors on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until the service at 7:00 p.m. Whalen was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Robert and Sarah Ellen Hollar Whalen; and a son, Wallace Lynn Whalen. Survivors include his wife, Ann Whalen of Alexandria. A daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Mike Page. A step-son, Kevin Chappell. Sister-in-law, Donna Warner of Calhoun, Kentucky. Sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Brenda and Pete Scott of Owensboro, Kentucky. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Pauline Cantrell

92 year old Pauline Cantrell of Smithville died Wednesday at Southern Hills Hospital. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Steve Allen will officiate and burial will be in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ada Lyles Colwell; husband, James Woodrow Cantrell; a son, Larry Cantrell; two sisters, Delan and Nadine Cantrell; and two brothers, Clarence and Herbert Colwell. Survivors include two daughters, Faye Robinson of Nashville and Judy and husband James Patton of Smithville. One son, James and wife Kathy Cantrell of Smithville. Twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Fowler Lee Ramsey

78 year old Fowler Lee Ramsey of Smithville died Wednesday at Centennial Medical Center. He was a retired truck driver with TDOT and a member and deacon of the Peoples Pentecostal Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Robert Presley will officiate and burial will be in the Boma cemetery in Baxter. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bell Ramsey; parents, Bill and Viola Ramsey; a daughter, Kathy Bilbrey; a grandson, Barry Lee Stone Ramsey; a sister, Hazel Alexander; and a brother, Willie Ramsey. Survivors include a daughter, Janie and husband Ricky Fults of Liberty. One son, Stoney Ramsey of Smithville. Five grandchildren, Virginia and husband Robert Oaks of McMinnville, Brandon Maynard of Nashville, Michaela Bilbrey of Smithville, Wesley Fults of Liberty, and Crystal Madewell of Baxter. Six great grandchildren. Special companion, Frankie Carroll of Smithville. Two sisters, Jessie and husband Doyle Christian of Woodbury and Jeanie and husband Curtis George of Woodbury. Three brothers, Ray Ramsey of Sparta, Jimmy and wife Judy Ramsey of Liberty, and Charlie Ramsey of Nashville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
