Phyllis Jeanette Turner

63 year old Phyllis Jeanette Turner of Alexandria died Monday at Alive Hospice in Nashville. A homemaker, she was born in Shelbyville. The funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Jackie Gaddes will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Jeanette Berry; her father, William David Stephenson; and a brother, Donnie Stephenson. Survivors include daughters, Julie and husband Dooner Tarpley of Statesville, Erica Phillips of Alexandria, and Tara Turner and Mark Fish of Watertown. A son, Charles Turner of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Victoria Woodard, Katie and Luke Turner, Christie Hopper, Kayla Watzlavick and James Berry, Trevor and Dalton Tarpley, Rollin Fish, Cole, Carly, and Cara Phillips. Great grandchildren, Tristan Hopper, Madison Corley, Drake Watzlavick, and Maddox Woodard. Mother, Virginia Stephenson of Donelson. Brothers, Doris Stephenson of Stewart and Mike Stephenson of Donelson. Sisters, Linda Simmons of Westmoreland and Barbara Aaron of White House. Nieces and nephews also survive. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

Eugene Spencer Vaughn

85 year old Eugene Spencer Vaughn of Smithville died Sunday at Smith County Health Care Center. He was a Baptist, a machinist, and he served in the U.S. Navy. A memorial service will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. David Mahan will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until the service at 1:00 p.m. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, James Woodfin and Beuna Spencer Vaughn and two sons, Byron Reece and Steven Lane Vaughn. Survivors include children, Deborah Smith of Madison and David Vaughn of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Gretchen Evirs and Cory Vaughn. Three great grandchildren, Graham, Emily, and Ethan Evirs. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Peggy Faye Wright

72 year old Peggy Faye Wright of Cottontown died Friday at Centennial Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dan Gulley and Tim Woodward will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Homer Wright and Richard Lempicki; and parents, Neal and Helen Wherry Hutson. Survivors include four children, Leigh Ann Stamps and husband Mark of Hendersonville, Linda Jones and husband Bradley of Cottontown, Kevin Wright of Hendersonville, and Bart Lempicki and wife Beverly of Cottontown. Ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two sisters, Pat Barrett and husband Gordon of Lascassas and Brenda Wills and husband Phil of Cross Plains. Two brothers, Gary Hutson and wife Nancy of Ridgetop and Clif Hutson and wife Fran of White House. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Survivors include her husband, Jeffery Womack of McMinnville. A daughter, Rebecca Lance of McMinnville. One son, Alton Womack of McMinnville. Parents, Kelly and Judy Neal Pollard of McMinnville. One sister, Jessica and husband Robby Black of McMinnville. One brother, Eric and wife Stacey Pollard of Smithville.Maternal grandmother, Goldie Pollard. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Billy Joe Madden

34 year old Billy Joe Madden of Smithville and formerly of Nashville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was self employed and a Baptist. The family has chosen direct cremation. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Street The Baptist Church. Jack Patterson will officiate. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard L. Madden, Jr. Survivors include his fiance, Marina Cornett and special daughters, Meagan Madden and Makayla Cornett all of Smithville; mother, Carol Walker Benton of Murfreesboro; two brothers, Edward Ball, Jr. of Antioch and James Ball of Ohio. A sister, Debra Fitzwater of Washington. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Benjamin Eugene Cole

44 year old Benjamin Eugene Cole of Indian Mound Road died Wednesday at his residence. Cole was born in White County to Faye Knowles Cole and the late Benjamin "Ben" Cole. He was an electrician and plumber. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by a son Jacob Lucian Cole. Survivors include his wife Cindy Howell Cole of Sparta A son: Benjamin Cole of Rickman. A granddaughter: Sierra Walker. A grandson: Jacob Lucian Stewart. His mother: Faye Cole of Sparta. A brother: Bryan Cole of Sparta. Father & mother-in-law: Dewey and Dorothy Cole. Brothers-in-law: Greg and Junior Howell. Several good friends and extended family. The funeral service will be 1:00pm Friday at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta with burial in Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6:00 pm Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home. Ronnie Taylor and Joe Neal will officiate.

Jimmy McDonald Martin

76 year old Jimmy McDonald Martin of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist and he served in the U.S. Army. Martin was retired from the City of Smithville and was a lab tech at DeKalb and Stones River Hospitals. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mike Clayborn will officiate and burial will be in Salem cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 10:00 a.m. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, William Floyd and Miltada Mai Clayborn Martin and two brothers, Dawes and James Martin. Survivors include a daughter, Penny Martin of Smithville. Two sons, Tim and wife Faye Martin and Greg Martin all of Smithville. Seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Eugene Arnold

70 year old Kenneth Eugene Arnold of Smithville died Saturday, February 11 at his residence. The funeral will be Friday, February 24 at 10:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the service at 10:00 a.m. Brad D. Driver, Pam Baines, and Michael Hale will officiate. Arnold was a member of the Indian Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was also a retired factory worker. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Eunie Pearl Williams Arnold; a brother, Vestrell Arnold; and a sister, Dora Lawson. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Barbara Dean Arnold of Smithville. A brother, Jimmy A. and wife Mildred Arnold of Smithville. A sister, Wilma Joan and husband George Hamilton of Smithville. Nieces, Opal Faye Glover, Peggy and husband Marty Merriman, and Pam and husband Michael Baines.

Louise Vaughn Hendrixson

91 year old Louise Vaughn Hendrixson of Dowelltown died Saturday at NHC of Smithville. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Snow Hill United Methodist Church. Royce Martin will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Snow Hill United Methodist Church and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Hendrixson was born in Warren County, daughter of the late Elijah and Effie Cope Vaughn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Hendrixson and brothers, Beecher Loring Vaughn, Reed Aulton Vaughn, and Bernice Ward Vaughn. She is survived by a son, Gwenn Michael and wife Sharon Hendrixson of Dowelltown. Daughters, Jimmie and husband Clarence Davenport of Liberty and Janie Oakley of Dowelltown. Brother, Jewell Vaughn of McMinnville. Grandchildren, Donna Bennett, Diana Bennett, Daryl Davenport, David Davenport, Devin Davenport, Dawn Jackson, Dana Callis, Mike Oakley, and James Michael Hendrixson. Seventeen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Snow Hill United Methodist Church. Family Heritage Funeral Home in Gallatin is in charge of the arrangements.

55 year old Wanda Alice Vanatta of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church. The family has chosen direct cremation. There will be no visitation. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.A. and Frances Vanatta and a brother, Darrell Vanatta. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Rigsby of Smithville. Three daughters, Gayle and husband Phillip Thomas of Smithville, Trina Bullard of McMinnville, and Heather Ingram of Cookeville. Two sons, Christopher Rigsby and Aubrey Rigsby of Smithville. Six grandchildren. One sister, Shelia Lucy of Indiana and step-mother, Jo Carter of Franklin. 85 year old Dr. J.K. Twilla of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a long time doctor in the DeKalb County area and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was also a member of the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Green will officiate and burial will be in Town Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 1:00 p.m. Dr. Twilla was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Leonard and Rosa Jon Twilla. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo Twilla of Smithville. Two sons, Neil Alan Twilla and John Kevin Twilla of Murfreesboro. Two grandchildren, Kevin and wife Desirae Twilla of Harrogate and Keli and husband Jared Davis of Smithville. Sister, Rose Mary and husband John Jarvis of Sparta. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has requested NO FOOD at the funeral home and NO FLOWERS. Donations may be made to the Lighthouse Christian Camp and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
