Walter James Grissim

86 year old Walter James Grissim of Liberty died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center. He was a Baptist, factory worker, and he was retired from the military. He served in the U.S. Air Force. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Wilson Williams and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita Grissim; and brothers and sisters. Survivors include children, Jimmy and Connie Grissim and Danny Grissim all of Murfreesboro, Patricia Grissim of Texas, Robert and Tammy Smith of Alexandria, Steve Gunter and Lois Horn of Smithville, and Joe and Penny Gunter of Woodbury. Grandchildren, Josh Gunter, Jason Gunter, Nick and John Smith, and Jennifer and Tina Gunter. Great grandchildren, Zachary and Ricky Gunter, Austin and Katlyn Smith, and Rebecca Gunter. A sister, Robbie Grissim of Lebanon. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

William McKinley Jones

76 year old William McKinley Jones of Liberty died Monday at his residence. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at Cummings Sign Company. He had also served in the National Guard. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member. Junior Ellis and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Troy L. and Ova Belle Martin Jones; sisters, Hazel Caplinger, Gladys Slagle, and Margaret Hendrixson; and a brother, Jim Jones. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Marguerite Jones of Liberty. A daughter, Teresa and husband Mark Adams of Franklin. Grandchildren, Lauren and husband Daniel Harrington of Nolensville and Logan Adams of Franklin. A brother, Troy and wife Sally Jones of Liberty. Sister, Nellie Pezanni of Whitehouse. Sister-in-law and husband Ruth and J.B. Taylor of Alexandria. Sister-in-law, Linda and husband Fred Stanley of Nashville. Brother-in-law, Winky and wife Jane Tramel of McMinnville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Cleveland West

52 year old Gary Cleveland West of Smithville died Monday at his residence. He was an employee of Tenneco. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Elsa Cain West; two sisters, Shirley Simpson and Peggy Swan; a brother, Greg West; and two nieces, Bobbie Pedigo and Natasha Helms. Survivors include a son, Troy West of Dowelltown. One brother, Tom Barker of Michigan. Two sisters, Patty and husband Logan Hullett of Smithville and Melody and husband Glynn Pedigo of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donations can be made to the funeral home in memory of Gary, in lieu of flowers.

Ben Barry Ferguson

65 year old Ben Barry Ferguson of Smithville died Tuesday at his residence. He was a retired iron worker and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be Sunday, December 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Green will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, December 2 from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kyle and Eva Lavergne Ferguson. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Renee Ferguson of Smithville. One daughter, Kyra and husband Ronald Vance Walker of Smithville. Two grandchidren, Maggie Elizabeth Robinson and Willow Grace Walker. Two brothers, Terry and wife Allison Ferguson of Ohio and Rusty Ferguson of Arizona. One sister, Renada and husband Dan Liddle of Ohio along with numerous nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In addition to flowers, donations made be made to the Joe Black Effort for animals and the Lighthouse Christian Camp.

Diane Pearl White

61 year old Diane Pearl White of Smithville died Saturday at the Palliative Care Unit of Vanderbilt Hospital. She was a Baptist, a Machinist at Federal Mogul, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at AmVets, and a Local 327 Union Member and Teachers Credit Union. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. No burial will be held. The family has chosen cremation after the funeral service. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. White was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Dick" and Novella Pearl Johnson Smith; sister, Joanne Allison; and two brothers, Robert Earl Smith and Garland Smith. Survivors include her husband, Charles White; a son, Eddie and his wife Jennifer White; and three daughters, Charlene White and her fiance David Watkins all of Smithville, Mary Spangler of McMinnville, and Shelia and husband Paul Clayton of Utah. Seven grandchildren, Jessie Clayton of Utah, Charles "CJ" McCutcheon of Smithville, Matthew, Savannah, and Sarah Grace White, Kristyn and Madison Spangler of McMinnville. One brother, Paul and wife Beverly Smith of Nashville. Three sisters, Betty and husband Eugene Day of Nashville, and Mary "Liz" Agee and Deborah Tramel of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Aubrey Eugene Driver

63 year old Aubrey Eugene Driver of Smithville died Saturday at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was a Methodist and a nurseryman. A memorial service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Don Elledge and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Driver was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Mammie Redmon Driver. Survivors include his wife, Susan Driver of Smithville. A son, John Gregory Driver and companion Darlene Bain along with sons, Wesley and Tyler of Smithville. Granddaughter, Marly Brooklyn Driver of Smithville. Great granddaughter, Karly Addison Smith of Smithville. Brother, Joe Wayne and wife Sue Driver of Smithville. Sister, Brenda Kaye Lattimore of Smithville. Uncle, Ernest and wife Linda Redmon of McMinnville. Several special nephews, cousins, and friends survive. Dr. Thomas C. Parker

88 year old Dr. Thomas C. Parker of Lebanon died Wednesday morning at University Medical Center. Born in DeKalb County, he was the son of the late Alvie and Kate Curtis Parker. He was a 1942 graduate of Smithville High School, attended MTSU and graduated dental school in Memphis in 1949. Dr. Parker practiced dentistry in Watertown for over 33 years. He served 3 yrs. in the South Pacific during World War II with the U.S. Navy. Dr. Parker was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hayes Parker; a son, Joe Thomas Parker and his wife, Cynthia; and granddaughters, Emily and Rachel Parker all of Lebanon. The funeral service will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. till the service time on Friday. Burial will be at the Wilson County Memorial Park in Lebanon. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

Carroll "John" Clemons

65 year old Carroll "John" Clemons of Alexandria died Wednesday morning at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. Born in Putnam County, he was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Clemons; his father, Luther Clemons and brothers, Daryl and James Lynn Clemons. Carroll is survived by his wife, Linda Cook Clemons of Alexandria. Daughters, Joyce and husband Ronald Kelly of Brush Creek and Stephanie McGee. Grandchildren, Brady and Caleb McGee, Reilly, Makenna and Ryan Kelly. Great granddaughter, Lyren Clark. Mother, Stella Dyer Clemons of Sparta. Sisters, Wanda Kelly of Cookeville and Mary Sue and husband Steve Hillis of Rock Island. Mother-in-law, Lottie Cook. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Don Rigsby will officiate and burial will be in Salem cemetery at Liberty. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. till the service time. Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jonah W. Thomason

60 year old Jonah W. Thomason of Woodbury died Wednesday at his home. He was born in DeKalb County. Thomason was a member of the Sunny Hills Baptist Church and a machine operator at Tenneco. The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. John Jones will officiate and burial will be in the Blues Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thomason was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomason and Vivian George Thomason; sisters, Faye Simmons, Patsy Thomason, and Wanda Jenkins; and brothers, Billy and James Thomason. He is survived his wife of 40 years, Jean Parsley Thomason of Woodbury. A son and daughter-in-law, David and Sybil Gunter of McMinnville. Two grandchildren, Amy Campbell and Shane Gunter of Warren County. Great grandchildren, Tristen Gunter and Leila Gunter. Sisters, Betty Certain, Janice Pollard, Virginia Jones, and Louise Jones all of DeKalb County. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John Michael Farler

55 year old John Michael Farler of Dowelltown died Sunday at Centennial Medical Center. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until the service at 6:00 p.m. A carpenter, Farler was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jimmie Cripps Farler. He is survived by a daughter, Danielle Farler of Liberty. The family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers.

Jimmy Wayne Chapman

52 year old Jimmy Wayne Chapman of Smithville died Friday at his residence. He was a contruction worker and a member of the Malone's Chapel Baptist Church. A graveside service will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Brush Creek Cemetery. Jack Patterson will officiate. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Sue Chapman; grandparents, Jim Grady and Lillie Mae Chapman and Gent and Velvo Cantrell. Survivors include his wife, Ann Chapman of McMinnville. Companion, Melissa Teachman of Smithville. Four sons, Timothy Chapman and Johnny and Des Chapman of McMinnville, Jerry and Pauline Chapman, and Jeremiah Teachman of Smithville. One daughter, Julie and husband Mike Van Dyne of McMinnville. One sister, Lisa and husband Kevin Cox of Alexandria. One brother, Richard Chapman of Alexandria. Four grandchildren, Anthony Murphy, Michelle and Sapharie Chapman all of McMinnville, and Jonathan Chapman of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has requested that donations please be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with burial expenses, in lieu of flowers.
