Stacey Bain Powell

35 year old Stacey Bain Powell of McMinnville and a native of Smithville died Saturday at her residence. She was a surgery technician and a member of the Locust Street Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale and Jeff Page will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thurman Napier, Alton Bain, and Willie Mai Cantrell. Survivors include her husband, Gary Kip Powell of McMinnville. A son, Gary Dayne Powell of McMinnville. Parents, Carol and husband A.J. Bain and Kenneth and wife Debra Bain all of Smithville. Brothers, Dusty Bain and Kenny Lee Bain both of Smithville. Maternal grandmother, Donna Napier of Smithville. Step-sisters, Nelda Bandy and Nena Cantrell both of Smithville. Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Elaine Powell of McMinnville. Two brothers-in-law, Garrett and Ren Powell both of McMinnville. Several nieces and nephews survive & several aunts and uncles.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers.

Dan Mitchell Fite, Sr.

65 year old Dan Mitchell Fite, Sr. of Dowelltown died Friday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist, member of the American Legion Post #122 and he was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Fite was also a construction worker for Johnson and Johnson. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mike Gay and Mike Clayborn will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Fite was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Hazel Gifford Fite; a son, Shannon Atnip; a brother, David Fite; and two sisters, Betty Humphrey and Kay Mosley. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda Fite of Dowelltown. Two sons, Danny and wife Wilma Fite of Kentucky and Mitchell Fite of Dowelltown. Two daughters, Luanna Bickett of Ohio and Tina Trigueros of McMinnville. Nine grandchildren, Bradley Fite of Kentucky, Alex Trigueros of Dowelltown, Blake Fite of Kentucky, Thomas Trigueros of Dowelltown, Issac Atnip of Smithville, Braydon, Brody, and Abbey Bickett of Ohio, and Katie Anip of McMinnville. One brother, Michael and wife Betty Fite of Ohio. One sister, Janet and husband Dale Brandenburg of Ohio. Five sisters-in-law, Margie and husband Gary Williams of Alexandria, Betty George of Dowelltown, Gail and husband Marlon Bain of McMinnville, Paulette and husband Bobby Parker of Gassaway, Tammy and husband Frog Estes of Smithville. Two brothers-in-law, Roy Atnip of Smithville and Michael and wife Frances Saylors of Smithville. Special son-in-law, Gelber Trigueros, John and Nolan Scott of Smithville, and Jerry and Pearl Kirby of Woodbury. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends all survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Grace Cronce Rush

89 year old Grace Cronce Rush died Friday in McMinnville. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Alger and Amelia Cronce.
Rush enlisted in the U.S. Navy "Waves" during World War II and served as a Petty Officer Second Class at Fleet Post Office San Francisco. She was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal for her service as part of our country's "Greatest Generation". Following the war, she returned to Milwaukee until she joined Trans World Airlines in 1946. She was one of the first classes of TWA stewardesses who were not required to be registered nurses. Rush was based by TWA in Los Angeles, California where she met her future husband, H.J. "Dick" Rush, who was also a Navy veteran of World War II.
Grace and Dick were married in 1949 and moved to New Jersey where he was stationed as a flight crew member for Eastern Airlines. They transferred to Miami, Florida in 1951 where they made their home until they moved to Hendersonville in 1963. Rush was an active member of the Lutheran Church and was one of the founding members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Gallatin. Rush was also a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McMinnville.
Rush is survived by her husband, Dick; her three children, Douglas of St. Louis, Missouri and his wife, Janette Lohman; Stevan of Naples, Florida; and Gregory of McMinnville and his wife Susan; and four grandchildren, Britney, Brie, William, and Melanie.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gallatin. Burial will be in the Middle Tennessee Veterans cemetery in Nashville. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at 10:00 a.m. at the church. The family requests that donations be made to the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 4083 Yager Road, McMinnville 37110, in lieu of flowers.

Mae Elizabeth Lattimore

71 year old Mae Elizabeth Lattimore of Smithville passed away Thursday night at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James D. Lattimore. The funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. A complete list of survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced later by DeKalb Funeral Chapel

Rickey Ashford

52 year old Rickey Ashford of Liberty died Wednesday at his residence. Born in DeKalb County, he was a carpenter. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Wilson Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Hale Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen Allen Ashford and Geraldine Smith; a daughter, Gidget Deshealea Ashford Patterson; and a sister, Tina. Survivors include a son, Allen Ashford and fiance' Tavia Keith. A daughter, Dana and husband Chris Stanley. Grandchildren, Caleb, Harlee, Seth, Zack, Dakota, Brady, Emma, Cody, Racheal, and John John. Brothers, Eddie Wayne and wife Kathy Ashford, Willie Ashford, and Richard Ashford. The family has requested that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to Anderson Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

92 year old Carter Glen Davenport of Liberty died Wednesday at his residence. Born in DeKalb County, he was a carpenter, member of the New Hope Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Dewey Dyer and Ronnie Smith will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Davenport was preceded in death by his parents, Carter B. Davenport and Willie Macon Foutch; sisters, Hilda Luciel and Ruth Marie; brothers, Lonnie, Cordell and John Henry; brother-in-law, Howard Granstaff; and daughter-in-law, Betty Davenport. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lucille Mathis Davenport. Children, Larry Glenn Davenport of Alexandria, Mickey Don and wife Jennifer Davenport, Hugh Dwain and wife Teri Davenport, and Leanne and husband Jimmy McGill. Grandchildren, Wesley, Brian, Jr., Chris, Heather, Timothy, Benjie, Brad, Jennifer, Matt, Brandon, Rachel, and Micah. Great grandchildren, Travis, Autumn, Alan, Jackson, Gabriel, Lane, Lydia, Isaiha, Aniah, Ellie, Nolan, Emmy, Rellon, Andrew, and Mahala. Brother, Clarence and wife Jimmy Davenport. 81 year old Rubye Margaret Rigsby Cook of Smithville died Monday at her residence. She was a Baptist and a retired inventory clerk with DAB Industries. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther "Dude" and Sallie Pack Rigsby; her husband, Billy J. Cook; and three brothers, Elijah, Elzie, and Grady Rigsby. Survivors include daughter, Vickye and husband Jay Smith of Liberty. One granddaughter, Jayme Smith of Franklin. One grandson, Jason Smith of Murfreesboro. Two brothers, Willie Lee and wife May Rigsby and Jackie and wife Frances Rigsby all of Smithville. One brother-in-law, Jack and wife Matilda Cook of Alexandria. Four sisters-in-law, Jean Cook of Alexandria, Kathryn Cook of Nashville, Carolyn Cook of Hermitage, and Irene Durso of Florida. Eva Dean Wright

87 year old Eva Dean Wright of Cookeville died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville.
Mrs. Wright was born in Warren County, daughter of the late Virgil (Jones) Cantrell and Rufuss Cantrell. She worked as a bookkeeper with GTE of Cookeville for over 15 years before her retirement. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Mrs. Wright is survived by daughters: Tenille Rowland & Paul of Smithville; Julie Franklin & Billy of Cookeville. Grandsons: Daniel Stanley, Seth Stanley, Caleb Stanley & Zach Rowland all of Smithville; Cody Batson & Jared Batson both of Sparta. Niece: Deborah Kurk & Alan of Knoxville. Nephew: Ronald Pelham of Knoxville. Niece: Johnnie B. Pelham-Hurd of Sparta.
She was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband Johney V. Wright, her parents, brother Bill Cantrell, sister Georgia Pelham and a great nephew James Hurd.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Freddie Harding officiating. Burial will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial. Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-8 p.m and on Thursday from 10 a.m-1 p.m at the funeral home.
Crest Lawn Funeral Home-Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.

Peggy Granstaff McClanahan

76 year old Peggy Granstaff McClanahan of Alexandria died Wednesday at the Summit Medical Center in Nashville.
Mrs. McClanahan was born December 10, 1936 in Brush Creek, TN, the daughter of the late Foley and Margie Courtney Granstaff. She was also preceded in death by Brothers; John Granstaff and Don Batey. She was a 1955 Graduate of Gordonsville High School. Peggy was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She was a member of the Brush Creek Church of Christ.
Mrs. McClanahan is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Billy McClanahan. Daughters; Robin Watson of Alexandria, TN, and Traci McClanahan of Alexandria, TN. Grandson; Logan Watson. Granddaughter; Courtney Watson. Sisters; Darlene Batey, and Faye (Rick) Fristch. Brother; Terry (Toni) Batey.
Funeral Services are scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 2:00PM at Avant Funeral Home with Glenn Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery
Visitation with the McClanahan family will be held on Saturday from 3PM to 8PM and again on Sunday from 10AM until service time at 2PM.
