Warren Melville Howe

80 year old Warren Melville Howe of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Protestant and a retired pharmacy sales executive. The family has chosen direct cremation. No visitation will be held at the funeral home. Howe was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sarah Howe; a son, Dave Howe and a brother, Bob Howe. Survivors include his wife, Mickey Howe of Smithville. Three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Jane Howe of Old Hickory and Rick Howe and Brad Howe of Florida. One daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Rick Rocha of Florida. One step daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Gary Fuson of Smithvile and three step sons and daughters-in-law Roy and Sherry Smith of Smithville, Keith Smith and Kathy Chaffee and Mark and Peggy Smith all of Michigan. Twenty one grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Martha Allene Cripps Keith

Martha Allene Cripps Keith - age 95 of White House, Tennessee passed away Friday, April 26, 2013. Born in Smithville, Tennessee Wednesday, December 19, 1917 she is preceded in death by parents Livie & Pearl Elledge Cripps; husband, Wilson Keith, brothers, Ray & Carl Cripps; sisters Hilda & Josephine Cripps.
Mrs. Keith worked 13 years at the Goodlettsville Dairy Queen; enjoyed growing her flowers; was a member of Temple Baptist Church in White House; she is survived by her daughter, Jane Robertson; sisters, Opal (Clyde) Jones, Opha Turner, Corinne Clark, Doris (Gene) Rowland; brothers, Tom (Georgia) Cripps, Lloyd (Jessie) Cripps.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. H. D. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Terry Cripps, Jerald Cripps, Mike Jones, Mike Marks, Gary Whittaker, Tim Bowles, Ricky Turner, Mark Paul.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sherry's Run, P O Box 8, Lebanon, TN 37088 pr Vanderbilt Children's Hospital Nashville, TN.
Family and friends will gather to remember Mrs. Keith at a visitation Monday, April 29, 2013 from 2:00 until 8:00 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 1150 South Dickerson Rd. Goodlettsville, TN 37072

Felicia Suzzette Cantrell

50 year old Felicia Suzzette Cantrell of Smithville died Thursday at her residence. She was a member of the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church and an employee of Federal Mogul. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Elder Ricky Arnold will officiate and burial will be in the New Bildad Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. Cantrell was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Cantrell, Jr.; her father, Maxi Shehane; a brother, Melvin Shehane and a half-brother, Anthony Ferrell. Survivors include her son and his Fiancee, Josh Cantrell and Shanea Nixon of Smithville. Daughter and son-in-law, Cristy and Jonathan Spears of Smithville. Grandchildren, Kaleb and Ethan Spears of Smithville. Mother, Ruth Cantrell of Smithville. Sisters, Barbara Bates and Sarah Rogers both of McMinnville. A brother, Ricky Shehane of Smithville and a half sister, Karen Stacey of Montana. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Gladys L. Driver

96 year old Gladys L. Driver of Liberty died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a DeKalb County native, a Methodist, and homemaker. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Freddie Savage and Freddy Curtis will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from noon until the service. Driver was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Curtis and Sarah Ann Neal Curtis; her husband, Odell Driver; a brother, Johnny H. Curtis; sisters, Mary Cason, Mattie Francis Malone; and one son-in-law, Howard Richardson. Survivors include a daughter, Margie Leette Richardson of Milton. Grandchildren, Kimberly and husband Clint Harper of Galax, Virginia, Sharon and husband Mark Hunter of Athens, Texas; and Mike Richardson of Milton. Great Grandchildren, Derek Harper of California. Adam Komandoski, Justin Komandoski, Olivia Komandoski, and Jade Hunter all of Athens, Texas. Brothers and sisters, Jimmy Curtis and Ralph and his wife Faye Curtis all of Alexandria, Roy D. and wife Linda Curtis of Watertown, and Gracie Henley and Amy Johnson both of Alexandria. Several nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Willard Woodrow Johnson

Funeral services for 91 year old Willard Woodrow Johnson of Baxter, will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with eulogies provided by his family. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Johnson died Thursday morning in NHC of Sparta.
Johnson was born in Baxter to the late William Louis and Mary Lula Johnson Sr.
After serving in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, Willard along with his brother J. T. Johnson started Johnson’s Nursery in Baxter in 1946. Their father, the late W. L. Johnson started the Baxter Nursery in 1918. In 1949, the Johnson brothers built the first glass-covered green house between Nashville and Knoxville. They were the first in the state to root Japanese Hollies and Taxus yews in a greenhouse. Willard’s son, Chuck Johnson started his retail center in Cookeville in 1968. Chuck with his wife Sarah and two sons now operate the Johnson Nursery and Garden Center in Cookeville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Palk; two sisters, Florence Martin and Elizabeth Cullen; and five brothers, Dr .Louis Johnson, Jr., Hubert Johnson, Bernice Johnson, John Thomas Johnson Sr., and Harold Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years Agnes Yates Johnson (whom he married May 28, 1940 in Albany, Kentucky); son and daughter-in-law, Charles “Chuck” W. and Sarah Johnson of Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Dr. Ray Troop of McMinnville and Louise and Richard Charles of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Jennifer( Dr. John) Little of Knoxville, Charlie (Rebecca) Johnson, David (Susan) Johnson all of Cookeville, Russell ( Michelle) Palk, and Beth Palk all of Franklin, TN; 12-great grandchildren, John Grant, Matthew, and Sarah Frances Little; Conner and Cooper Palk; Callaway, and Abbey Palk; Leah and Foster Johnson; Anna, Emma, and Will Johnson.
Johnson’s family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until service time at the Baxter Chapel.
The Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Thelma Webb

79 year old Thelma Webb of McMinnville died Monday at River Park Hospital. She was retired from Smithville Manufacturing. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Kenneth Clayton will officiate with burial in Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the service at 2:00 P.M. She was preceded in death by her husband Smith Webb; parents, Roy and Nannie Adcock Walls. Grandchild, Tony Edge; four brothers, Clarence, Gene, Tommy and James Howell Walls and two sisters, Ann Farless and Janie Woodlee. She is survived by three daughters, Deloris Edge, Nancy Womack, and Renna Garrett, all of McMinnville. Two sons, David Puckett and Charles Webb, both of McMinnville. Twelve grandchildren, Tammy Edge, Jimmy Martin, Jr. and Paul Martin all of McMinnville, Johnathon, Jeffery, and Brandon Puckett, all of Smithville; Jacob and Levi Garrett, both of Cookeville; Jennifer Summers of Smithville; Amanda and Jaylen Garrett, both of McMinnville, and Julian Webb of Smithville. Nine great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Phillip and Dan Walls both of Smithville, and Bobby Walls of Delaware. Five sisters, Ellen Clayton, Verna Green, Kathy Scott and Rita Walls, all of Smithville, and Wanda Hollis of McMinnville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Miles Daniel Shepard, Jr

92 year old Miles Daniel Shepard, Jr. of Smithville died Monday at NHC of Smithville. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was previous owner/operator of Simsberry Ford in Simsberry, Connecticut. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in the Young-Bend cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Shepard was preceded in death by his parents, Miles, Sr. and Ethel Shepard. Survivors include two daughters, Susan and husband Thomas Lord and Wendy and husband Phillip Wise. Seven grandchildren, Scott and wife Angie St. Pierre, Sean Griffin, Heath and wife Jeanie Griffin, Rachel Griffin Bull and husband Brad, Brett Wise, Shane Lord, and Chandler Wise. Ten great grandchildren, Aaron, Collin, Easton, and Adalyn St. Pierre, Faith, Cole, and Kendyl Griffin, Lexie Bull, and Olivia Bull and Krista Owens. Dolores Reynolds

82 year old Dolores Reynolds of Alexandria died Sunday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a DeKalb County native, a restaurant owner, and a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Malone and Lucille Oakley Malone. Reynolds is survived by her husband of 68 years, Henry Wade Reynolds. Children, Bobby Sherrell and wife Caroyln Reynolds of Alexandria and Jeff and wife Barbara Reynolds of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Dana and husband Matt McKinney of Alexandria, David and wife Monica Reynolds of Alexandria, Jeffrey David and wife Danielle Reynolds of Smithville, and Tim and wife Jenna Reynolds of Smithville. Great grandchildren, Cadence Reynolds, Tatum Reynolds, Dallas Reynolds, Kelby Milton, Kinsey Cooper, and Levi Reynolds. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Doris Marie Hale Johnson

70 year old Doris Marie Hale Johnson of Smithville died Saturday at her residence. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and a homemaker. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tommy Taylor and Bernard Houk will officiate with burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. and Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the service at 2:00 P.M. She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Mary Elizabeth "Bettie" Taylor Hale; three brothers, Walter Roy Hale, Floyd Hale, Jr. and Robert T. Hale. One sister, Robbie Tramel; Brothers-in-law, George Tramel and Leamon Johnson. She is survived by her husband Elmus Johnson, Two sons, Jayson and Meshia Johnson, and Brad Johnson. One Grandchild, Karen Johnson. One sister, Joe and Aubrey Wright. Four Sisters-in-law, Willette Hale, Joyce Hale, Peggy Hale, and Jessie Johnson. One Brother-in-law, Kenneth and Mildred Johnson, all of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp.Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
