William Carl Holmes

William Carl Holmes, age 82, passed away on July 13, 2013. Mr. Holmes worked at TRW/RossGear and was a member of the Crossville Church of God. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon on Monday from 4-8 p.m. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Gene Burgess and Brother Danny Sellars, is 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Interment in Dixon Springs Cemetery, Carthage TN immediately following the service. Pallbearers: Jeremy Holmes, Paul Davis, Cole Lasater, Hunter Bane, Matthew Holmes, and Daniel Holmes. Honorary Pallbearers: Stanley Brown, Tony Brown, Austin Bane, Dylan Bane, and Jarred Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years: Brenda Crow Holmes; Children: Carol (Darrell) Petty, Gary (Carmen) Holmes, Denise (James) White, Tim (Lydia) Holmes, Betty (Kirk) Lasater, and Lisa (Ronnie) Bane; brothers: Jimmy (Wanda) Holmes, W.J. (Alma) Holmes, and John Holmes; sisters: Diane (Jimmy) Smith, Beverly (Neal) Denton, Frances Martin, and Estelle Martin; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by son Eddie Davis, parents Jonah and Ruby Sircy Holmes, and siblings Paul Holmes, J.P. Holmes, Mayzelle Albritton, Mary Munsey, and James Shepherd Holmes.

Clyde "Tommy" Judkins

85 year old Clyde "Tommy" Judkins of Smithville died Monday at Raintree Manor in McMinnville. He was a Methodist and a retired employee of Powermatic. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 pm. at the DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mike Neal and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Judkins was preceded in death by his parents, Poper and Ruth Allen Lynam Judkins; his wife Betty Judkins; brothers, Troy and Glynn Judkins; and a sister, Ravanell Driver. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly and husband Tink Barnes of Smithville. One granddaughter, Heather and husband Keith Phillips of Franklin. Three great grandchildren, Molly, Phoebe, and Henry Phillips. One brother, Billy Roy and wife Billie Jean Judkins of Donelson. A sister, Maudell Womack of McMinnville. Two sisters-in-law, Wilma Judkins and Doris Judkins both of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Audrey Jean Summers

78 year old Audrey Jean Summers of Smithville died Sunday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jack Patterson, Mark Summers, and Bill Robertson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Summers was preceded in death by her father, Olen Patterson; her husband, Bill Summers and a sister, Nell Cantrell. Survivors include two children, Mark and wife Nan Summers of Waycross, Georgia and Malia and husband David Laird of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Jason and wife Trina Summers of Glennville, Georgia; Adam and wife Melody Summers of Chelsea, Michigan; Rachel and husband Daniel Guenther of Wayne, Michigan; Timothy and wife Hope Summers of Waycross, Georgia; and Jack Famulski of Smithville. Fifteen great grandchildren. Mother, Nadine Allen Patterson of Smithville. Two brothers, Jack and wife Judy Patterson and Harold and wife Sue Patterson all of Smithville. Two sisters, Billie Ann and husband Sam Odom of Smithville and Judy and husband Buddy Wade of Tallahassee, Florida. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A.Z. Ray

79 year old A.Z Ray died Thursday. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 11 a.m. until the service on Monday. The Celebration of Life, conducted by Wendell Judkins, will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hermitage Memorial Gardens .
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Grace Wright Ray; children: Davia (Roy) Williams and Tameria (Jeff) Shaver; brother: James "J.T." Thomas (Ollie) Ray; 3 granddaughters; 4 great-granddaughters; 7 step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Sylva and Lena Bell Farley Ray, sister Hazel Garman, brother Walter Ray, and grandson Zachary Holt.

Dr. Don Ray Krohn

84 year old Dr. Don Ray Krohn of Eugene, Oregon and formerly of Smithville died Friday at his residence in Oregon. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Krohn worked for many years as a physician in the Detroit area before working at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the University of Tennessee (Erlanger Hospital). The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Green will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jo Stevens of Smithville and four children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. 57 year old Delois Faith Thurman of Dowelltown died Saturday at her residence. She was a former waitress in the food industry. The family has chosen direct cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later time. Survivors include her parents, J.W. and Katherine Ward of Dowelltown. Two brothers, Jeff and wife Melissa Ward and Dewayne and wife Cindy Ward all of Smithville. One sister, Teresa and husband Ronnie Evans of Clear Water, Florida. One aunt, Erma Thomason of Smithville. Two nephews and one niece. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Eddie Smith, Jr.

41 year old Eddie Smith, Jr. of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a welder for the Yorozu Corporation. A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dry Creek Baptist Church. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Orbra Smith, Sr. and grandmother, Deloris Miller. Survivors include two children, Emily and Eric Smith of Michigan; mother, Victoria Deplace of Knoxville. Girl friend, Tammy Brown of Smithville. One sister, Tammi and husband Gaylon Gora of Smithville. Four nieces and nephews, Sasha and Michael Cervenka both of Knoxville, Natasha Cervenka of Murfreesboro and Marissa and husband Adam Tramel of Dowelltown. One great niece and five great nephews. John A. Palmer, Jr

79 year old John A. Palmer, Jr. of Gainesville, Florida died Saturday, July 27 in Florida. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired pharmacist. A graveside service was held Friday, August 2 at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Royce Martin officiated. Palmer was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Fuson Palmer. Survivors include a son, John III and wife Elizabeth Palmer of Florida and their son, Henry. One daughter, Janna and husband Evan Reid of Florida and their children, Jack and Evan. Pamela Sue Hitchcock

54 year old Pamela Sue Hitchcock of the Dibrell community died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. A Freewill Baptist, she was formerly employed at Star Manufacturing. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Crain Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard F.L. Middleton; a daughter, Margaret Ann Hullett; and sisters, Dorothy, Donna, and Barbara. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Larry Hurst of Sparta. One son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jacqueline Yates of Rocky River, Tennessee. Six grandchildren Trevor and Lilly Hurst of Sparta and Chloe, Zackery, Will, and Jase Yates all of Rocky River. Her mother, Eva Lois Driver Judkins of Smithville. Several brothers and sisters, Richard, J.C. Michael, Everitt, Billy, Delbert, Vernell, Ann, Terecia, and Frankie. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends also suvive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Leslie Howard Moore

70 year old Leslie Howard Moore of Rock Island, died Wednesday at his residence. He was born in Cannon County, Mr. Moore retired from the State of Tennessee with the Division of Property Assessment. He was a member of New Union The Baptist Church, has served as a minister in The Baptist Church Associations for 30 years, was a member of Short Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 373, and was an avid hunter. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents Orville Howard and Grace Cope Moore.
Survivors include his wife Gail Moore, sons Mark Moore, Rock Island, TN, Paul (Joann) Moore, Smyrna, TN, and Jonathan (Crystal) Moore, Rock Island, TN, and daughter Abigail (Eric) Wood, McMinnville, TN, grandchildren Jordan, Nathaniel, Anthony, and Hailey Moore, and Caleb and Aniston Wood, and brother Lynn (Helen) Moore, Rock Island, TN. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Eric Wood, Elder Brent Craven, and Elder Bryan Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at New Union cemetery in DeKalb County. The Moore Family will receive friends Thursday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again Friday from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
