Barbara Ellen Dost

A Memorial service for 83 year old Barbara Ellen Dost of Cookeville will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dwight Henry will officiate.
Mrs. Dost’s family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.
Dost died Sunday, September 15 at home in Cookeville, TN. surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 7, 1929, in Merrill, Michigan to the late Chauncey and Ruth Witchi Shebester.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew John Dost; son, John Dost; and brother, Joseph Shebester.
Barbara was gifted with a loving, kind, caring, compassionate, and accepting personality. She naturally thought of others first and put their needs ahead of her own. She was a blessing to her entire family.
She loved reading to take her away to exotic places, watching game shows to challenge her mind, and taking long walks with her family to enjoy nature and keep fit.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jim Loy of Smithville, Gail and David Gentry of Cookeville; sister, Mary Dost of Fair Play, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Dorothy Shebester of Crescent City, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and special pet dog, Harley.

Doris Ann Riddle

58 year old Doris Ann Riddle of Liberty died Wednesday at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. A DeKalb County native, Riddle was a homemaker and a member of the Prosperity Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. David Tramel and Jerry Harwell, Sr. will officiate and burial will be in Anderson Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, James Corley Anderson and her husband, Gerald Lee Riddle. Survivors include her life companion, David Graul of Liberty. Mother, Lavelle Anderson of Murfreesboro. Brother, Garry and wife Lori Anderson of Liberty. Nephews, Garry Anderson and Michael Anderson both of Liberty. Special nieces and nephews, Jamie and wife Holly Anderson of Smithville, Jaya and husband Jerry Harwell of Smithville, Shannon and wife Jessica Anderson of Smithville, and Tosha and husband Tommy Maynard of Smithville. Special great nieces and nephews, Caitlyn, Colten, Hannah, Emily, Tyler, Tanner, Mykenzie, Kayden, and Leah. Life companion's children, Tim and wife Brada Graul and their children, Jacob and Justen of Altoona, Alabama, Jeff Graul of Wetumpka, Alabama, Katrina Stewart and her children, Kami Graul and Dakota Stewart of Hartselle, Alabama. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Bobby Ray Mann

68 year old Robert Bobby Ray Mann of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was a construction worker. His request was to be cremated and no services to be held. Mann was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Geneva Summey Mann and a son, Johnny Mann. Survivors include three children, Patricia Rice of White Pigeon, Michigan; Bobbie Herrmann of Constatine, Michigan; and Michael Mann of Union City, Michigan. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A sister, Fredia Craft of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers in memory of Bob.

Barbara Elaine Tramel Beach

49 year old Barbara Elaine Tramel Beach of Smithville died Wednesday. She was the daughter of the late Luther D.C. Tramel and Nadine Bartlett. Barb was a member of the Webb's Chapel United Methodist Church and was Disabled. She is survived by her Son, Chad (Cassandra) Beach of Smyrna; 2 Brothers, Wayne Luther Tramel of Lakewood, TN and Jimmy Tramel of Brush Creek; 1 Sister, Margie Owens of Smithville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:PM Monday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Kenneth Clayton and David Tramel officiating. Interment will be in Snow Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2:PM until 9:PM and Monday 9:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM.

Robert William Tramel

71 year old Robert William Tramel of Smithville died Wednesday. He was the son of the late Charlie Luther and Lillie Mae Davis Tramel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kendal Hawkins; 2 Brothers, D.C. Tramel and Jim Roy Tramel; 1 Sister, Judy Tramel. Robert was a retired construction worker and a member of the Webb's Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his Wife of 35 years, Margaret Tramel of Smithville; 9 Children, Loretta Lynn Bales, Delores Johnson, and Teresa Ann Tramel all of Chattanooga, Darlene Yvonne Beach of Murfreesboro, Robert Jeffrey Tramel of the Philippines, Sandy Pauline Tramel of Kentucky, Sherry Williams of Smithville, April Lynn Davis Hawkins of Readyville and Travis Clint Tramel of Smithville; 21 Grandchildren and Several Great-Grandchildren; 2 Brothers, Paul Tramel and David Leon Tramel both of Smithville; 2 Sisters, Lou Bell Bain of Smyrna and Dorothy Ferrell of Jacksonville, FL. Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Monday, February 24, 2014 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Kenneth Clayton and David Tramel officiating. Interment will be in the Snow Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2:PM until 9:PM and Monday 9:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM.

James Harold (Tuffy) George

81 year old James Harold (Tuffy) George of McMinnville (Lucky Community) died Thursday at his residence. He was born January 10, 1933, in DeKalb County, TN, was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a farmer, and a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, teacher, and served on various church committees. Mr. George was preceded in death by parents James Andrew and Mary Cripps George, a sister Vernie Mae George, and brothers Ollie and John Robert George.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Jo Sanders George, daughters Karon (David) Wood, and Beth (Mike) Hamby, sister Rebecca Vaughn, and brother Hank George all of McMinnville, TN, grandchildren Derrick (Holly) Wood, Jason (Suzie) Wood, Steven (Stephanie) Hamby, and Laurel Beth Hamby, and great-grandchildren Dillan, and Alexus Wood, Kailey, Kody, and Kolton Wood, Austin and Tiffany Cantrell, and Abigail Hamby. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2014, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Donald Owens and Bro. Michael Carr officiating. Interment will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. The George Family will receive friends Friday from 4 PM until 8 PM and again Saturday from 10 AM until 1 PM at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Muscular Sclerosis Foundation.

Jo Ann Moss

81 year old Jo Ann Moss of Silver Point died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a retired Designer from General Motors. A graveside service will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Holly Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Helen Elizabeth Dyer Moss; her husband, Matthew Owens; and two brothers, Lee Moss and William Moss. Survivors include one daughter, George Ann and Lee Roy Ranney of New York. Two sons, Larry Skipp of Silver Point and Doug and Shawn Mary Skipp of Michigan. Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements

James "Buddy" Taylor

68 year old James "Buddy" Taylor of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was an avid fisherman, a former sheet metal mechanic and he attended the New Home Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Winnie Summers Taylor; a sister, Faye Lohorn; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Brenda Taylor; two children, Jeff and wife Kim Taylor and Jennifer Neal all of Smithville. Eight grandchildren, Elicia Taylor and husband Jonathon Puckett and Travis and wife Olivia Neal all of Smithville, Megan Neal of Rock Island, Casey Taylor, Olivia Taylor, Dalton Williams, Kati Williams, and Mason Taylor all of Smithville. Three great grandchildren. Twelve brothers and sisters, Ricky and Diane Taylor and Tony and Vickie Taylor all of Murfreesboro, Ronnie Taylor, Jerry Taylor, and Jimmy and Rita Taylor all of Smithville, Christine and Melvin Reeder, Linda and Alvin Armour, Peggy and Ralph Tramel, Judy and Ronnie Redmon, Darlene Jones, and Sandra and Cameron Dunn all of Smithville, and Mary and Jack Ludy of Smyrna. Two sisters-in-law, Linda and Jim Mabe and Joyce and Terry Young all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Johnny Edward Williams

73 year old Johnny Edward Williams of Smithville died Saturday Night at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Edgar & Ola May Dedmon Williams. He was retired from the City of Smithville and a Member of the Smithville Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Doris Williams; Brothers: Roy, Pete & J.B. Williams; Sisters: Aline Bates, Mattie Oleta West and Marie Rucker and his father in law Sam Hendrixson. Funeral Services will be held 2:PM Tuesday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Dan Gulley and Tim Woodward officiating and burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Monday 11:AM until 8:PM and Tuesday 10:AM until time of the service at 2:PM. Survivors include Mother-in-law Nina Hendrixson of Smithville; Sister-in-law Donna Hendrixson and Fiance Terry Mahle of Smithville; Niece: LaVaughnda (John) Baker of McMinnville; Great Nephew: Wesley Tatrow of McMinnville; Sister: Louise Sweeney of Hartsville; Brother: Brownie (Ann) Williams of Gordonsville; Sister-in-law: JoAnn Williams of Murfreesboro; Nieces: Teresa (Michael) French, Annette Williams (Kenneth) Warrick, Jeanette Williams.
