Harvey Odell Driver

94 year old Harvey Odell Driver of Alexandria died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a farmer, a Methodist, and a DeKalb County native. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Versia Scott Driver; a brother, Dawson Driver; and sisters, Lelia Mae Driver, Exum Chapman, and Beulah Malone. Survivors include his wife of 72 years Gladys Curtis Driver. A daughter, Margie Leette and her husband Howard Richardson of Milton. Grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Clint Harper of Virginia, Sharon and her husband Mark Hunter of Texas, and Mike Richardson of Milton. Great grandchildren, Derrick Harper of Virginia, Adam, Justin, and Olivia Komondosky, and Jade Hunter; a sister, Bessie Spencer of Dowelltown and several nieces and nephews. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Oreata Wilene Rowland

93 year old Oreata Wilene Rowland of Alexandria died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lower Helton Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Barry Whitaker and Frank Randolph will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ephriam and Claris Allen Cope; her husband, Robbie Rowland; and a daughter, Melinda Ann Rowland. Survivors include a son, Robbie "Donnie" and his wife Annette Rowland of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Andrea and her husband Shad Henderson of Holiday, Florida, Daniel and his wife Mai Rowland of Newport Richey, Florida, Jason Harris of Shelbyville, and Casey Rowland of Liberty. Two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Judy Oakley

64 year old Judy Oakley of Sparta died Friday at her residence. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Peeled Chestnut United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Tommy Davis and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, O.M. and Covita Burrus Jackson and one son, Darrell Oakley. Survivors include her husband, Joe Oakley of Sparta. Two sons, Joe Derek Oakley of Smithville and Daren and his wife Tabitha Oakley of Sparta. Three grandchildren, Kristen, Mara Jade, and Tavia Oakley. An aunt, Polly Park of St. Claire, Shores, Michigan and an uncle, Luther Burrus of Memphis. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Gerald R. Leasure

80 year old Gerald R. Leasure of New Hope Road, Alexandria died Friday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Eltis N. Brown will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Memorial cemetery in Alexandria. The Leasure family will receive friends at Avant Chapel on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lucy Leasure of Alexandria. Their daughter, Jeri Ann Parker of Alexandria. His six children, Gerald Leasure, Jr. of Diamond, Ohio; Harold Leasure of Livingston, California; William Leasure of Orlando, Florida; Howard Leasure of Canton, Ohio; Margaret Jane Leasure of Smithville; and Dennis Leasure of Smithville. Her six children, Robert Wright of Hohenwald; John Wright of Smithville; Judy Wright of Hohenwald; Dave Wright of Hohenwald; Cheryl Campbell of Liberty; and Kenny Wright of Livingston. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A brother, Calvin Leasure of Ohio. Sisters, Juanita Garner of Virginia and Rosemary Prante of Ohio. Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

George Alexander

77 year old George Alexander of Gassaway died Monday. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nova (Hollandsworth) Alexander; his father and step-mother, Martin & Helen (Scott) Alexander; his wife, Hazel (Ramsey) Alexander and two brothers, Samuel Alexander and Tom Alexander. Survivors include a special nephew, Kevin Alexander of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law, Velda Alexander of Murfreesboro; fiancee, Mae Ann Davenport of Readyville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie & Shirley Ramsey of Old Hickory, Shirley Ramsey of Gassaway, Jimmy & Judy Ramsey of Sycamore; and several nieces and nephews. Alexander was a member of the Gassaway Church of Christ. He was a retired employee of the Bank of Commerce. He worked for Smith Funeral Home in years past. Alexander was known as the "Mayor of Gassaway". He was active in all events in Gassaway, the Fire Dept. Breakfast & Supper, Gassaway Homecoming, 4th of July Celebration and Christmas activities. He was member of the Gassaway and Cannon County Senior Centers.Visitation will begin on Wednesday from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday at the Gassaway Church of Christ from noon until 9:00. Visitation on Friday will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Gassaway Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Gassaway Church of Christ with Gary Hancock and Bill Smith officiating. Burial will be in Beech Hill Cemetery. 92 year old Elsie Mai Tramel of Alexandria died Monday at her son's residence in Lebanon. She was a DeKalb County native, a homemaker and a member of the West Main Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Elizabeth Mullican Vandagriff; her husband Roscoe Tramel; brothers and sisters, Frank, Sam, Clyde, Garlon, Glenn, Vadie, Thelma, Dean, Ala Ray, James, and Alene. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Peggy Tramel of Lebanon. Two grandchildren, Paul and his wife Kim Tramel of Lebanon and Stephanie and her husband Brad McKeehan of Johnson City. Five great grandchildren, Jillian, Karissa, and Hannah Tramel, and Colby and Carlie McKeehan. A sister, Robbie and her husband R.H. Bond of McMinnville. Two brothers, Bobby Vandagriff and Boyd Vandagriff both of McMinnville. Several nieces, nephews, and special caregiver, Debbie Brisco also survive. 85 year old Ray Dunham of the Temperance Hall community died Sunday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. He attended the Long Branch Methodist Church and was a retired Iron worker and member of Iron Workers Local 492 of Nashville. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Floyd Massey will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Moses and Nola Foster Dunham; brothers, Othel and Ottis Dunham; and sisters, Sadie Webster and Amy Webster. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Dunham of Temperance Hall. Children, Ray, Jr. and his wife Wanda Dunham of Alexandria and Betty and her husband Joe Agee of Temperance Hall. Two grandchildren, Jonathan Agee of Temperance Hall and Johanna and her husband Andy Summers of Watertown. One great grandchild, Lucas Summers. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

William Hale, Jr.

82 year old William Hale, Jr of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a farmer and a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. David Carden will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ervin Hale; his father, William Overton Hale Sr.; sisters, Hallie Cassity, Prudie Pinegar, Julie Gregory, Ruby Ledox, Ruth Walls, and Barbara Billings. Survivors include his wife, Opal Hale; sisters, Evelyn Taylor and Martha Bloom; special hunting friends Jake Helem, Keith Kanard, and Herbie and Matthew Leftwich; and several nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Mount Herman Baptist Church.

Clarence Wayne Ray

66 year old Clarence Wayne Ray of Smithville died Sunday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ and retired from A.O. Smith. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Ricky Arnold, Malcolm Turner, and David Greene will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Bill and Earlene Prater Ray and a brother, Calvin Ray. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Ray of Smithville. A brother, Paul and his wife Christine Ray of McMinnville. A sister, Juanita and her husband Bob Cantrell of Morrison. Special nephew, Jeff Cantrell of Morrison. Niece, Melody and her husband Wayne Hackett of Mount Juliet. Nephews, Lynn and his wife Marla Cantrell, Greg and his wife Nancy Ray, Terry and his wife Pam Ray, and Timmy Ray. Special friends, Ronnie and Patsy Greene, Paul and Anna Parker, Robert and Faye Kirby, Clifford and Virgie Walker, Malcolm and Helen Turner, Curtis Duncan, and William Harris. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to the Multi-County Support Network for cancer treatment patients, in lieu of flowers.

28 year old Cory Lynn Judkins of McMinnville died suddenly Thursday at his residence. He was a Rutherford County native, and a sales clerk for Sears. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Madison Street Baptist Church, where he was a member. Jackie Matheny, Bobby Southard, and Alton Scruggs will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at High Funeral Home in McMinnville and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Christine Smith and his paternal grandfather, Nelson Judkins. He is survived by a daughter, Abigail Judkins of McMinnville. His parents, Larry and Phyllis Judkins of McMinnville. A brother and sister-in-law, John Kelly and Jaime Judkins of McMinnville. Nieces, Ashlyn and Adison Judkins of McMinnville. His maternal grandfather, Reverend Carl Smith of McMinnville. His paternal grandmother, Lounette Judkins of McMinnville. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
