Hubert Lee Whitworth

94 year old Hubert Lee Whitworth of McMinnville died Friday at his daughter's residence. Born in Lincoln County, he was a retired head produce clerk with Kroger, a former McMinnville City Alderman, and a member of the Rolling Acres Brethren in Christ Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Rosie Calpurine Koonce Whitworth; his wife, Odie R'Della Whitworth; a daughter, Carolyn Mayfield; a son, Hubert Lynn Whitworth; brothers, Alton, Lester, J.W. and Curtis Whitworth; and a sister, Olivia Slayton. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Ralph Tucker, Ernest Weber, and William McCormick will officiate and burial will be in the Shellsford Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Hoyte Hale of Smithville and Linda and Ronnie Huff of McMinnville. Sons, Kenneth Whitworth of Decatur, Alabama and Jamie Whitworth of McMinnville. Sisters, Dora Slayton of Fayetteville, Elvaree and Clifford Holley of Lewisburg, and Nina Ruth and Max Walker of Jacksonville, Florida. Grandchildren, Dathan and Sarah Beth Hale of Johnson City, Angela and Billy Osment of Smithville, Amy Melton of McMinnville, Tina and Jeff Lassiter of McMinnville, Darrin and Ladonya Whitworth of Decatur, Alabama, and Selena Belew of Birmingham, Alabama. Great grandchildren, Jackub and Josef Osment, Aubriana Melton, Erika and Allen Betschart, EmiLee Grace Lassiter, Grayson and Destany Whitworth, and Tate and Avery Belew. Two foster great grandchildren, Anabel and Alondra Lassiter. Son-in-law, Waymon Mayfield of McMinnville and special friends, Sally Barker and Lisa Crowe. McMinnville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Chad Jonathon Reeder

19 year old Chad Jonathon Reeder of Liberty died Friday in Cannon County. The funeral will be at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home on Monday at 1:00 pm with Michael Farr officiating. Burial will be in the Blackford Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00pm until 9:00pm and Monday from 9:00am til time of service at 1:00pm. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ray Reeder. Survivors include his father, Donald Reeder of Liberty. His mother, Sharlet Carioscia of Alexandria. Two brothers, Nick Reeder of Alexandria and Joey Carioscia of McMinnville.His paternal grandmother, Bertie Ruth Reeder of Smithville. His maternal grandparents, Tim and Joann Bradford of Smithville. His great grandmother, Ruth Ward. Special girlfriend, Angel Farless. His is also survived by several aunts and uncles. The family asks that donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses in lieu of flowers.

Angel Darnell Mahler

46 year old Angel Darnell Mahler of Johnson's Chapel died Wednesday at her residence. She was a Baptist and a teacher at LBJ & C Head Start. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Terry Little, Gary Farris, and Craig Mahler will officiate and burial will be in the Peeled Chesnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Lewis Johnson and father-in-law, Hubert "Coxie" Mahler. Survivors include her husband, Randall Mahler of Sparta. A daughter, Cathleen and her husband J.D. Humphrey of Walling. One son, Craig Mahler of Sparta. One grandchild, Jaxon Humphrey of Walling. Her mother, Nina Parsley Rhody of Smithville. A brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Rene Johnson of Smithville. Sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ronnie and Frances Mahler of McMinnville, Iven and Peggy Craven of Rock Island, and Joey and Donna Phillips of Sparta. Her mother-in-law, Katheen Mahler of Sparta and several nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to Justin Potter Library or to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.

David George Bennett

57 year old David George Bennett, DVM of Brush Creek died Wednesday at his residence. Dr. Bennett was born in Knoxville, the son of June Caprice Anderson and the late George Emerson Bennett. He was a graduate of Huntsville, Alabama High School, received his BS at the University of Alabama and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University in 1977, and returned to the Tennessee area to practice Veterinary Medicine. He was married in 1973 to Karen Elizabeth Ransom. He was a member of New Middleton Masonic Lodge # 249, F. & A.M. and the Brush Creek United Methodist Church. Dr. Bennett is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen Bennett of Brush Creek. Three Children: Melissa Ransom Bennett Schwerzler, her husband, CW2 Martin Schwerzler and their children, Cole and Sabrina of Fort Stewart, Georgia, Martha Bennett Given, DVM, and her husband, Chad Given, DVM of Nashville, and David George Bennett, Jr. and his wife, Michella and their children, Cora and Emerson of Brush Creek. His mother, June Bennett of Brush Creek. A sister, Pam Bennett Throne, her husband, Ken Throne and their children, Gordie and Brittany of Pleasanton, California. A Celebration of Life for Dr. Bennett will be held at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery. The Bennett family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. New Middleton Masonic Lodge # 249 will have a Masonic service at the Gordonsville Chapel on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. The Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

81 year old Harrison White Hobbs of Lowell, Indiana died Sunday at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was a Baptist and a retired heavy equipment crane operator. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Ella Ashford Hobbs; a grandchild, Patrick Koster; brothers, Arnold Hobbs and Sammy Hobbs; and a sister, Juanita Ferrell. Survivors include his wife, Ann M. Hobbs of Lowell, Indiana. Children, Debbie and her husband Jack Tauber of St. John, Indiana and Wilburn Hobbs of Lansing, Illinois. Grandchildren, Phillip Koster, Adam Hobbs, Joshua Hobbs, Andrew Koster, and Gregory Hobbs. Great grandchildren, Madison Koster, Mason Koster, and Hunter Hobbs. A sister, Oleta and her husband Bud Hale of Smithville. Brothers, John and his wife Josie Hobbs and Bill Hobbs all of Smithville. A sister-in-law, Johnnie Hobbs of Murfreesboro. Baby Boy Sosa

A graveside service for the stillborn infant of Lillian Elizebeth Sosa will be Monday, January 28th, at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Everyone will assemble at the cemetery for the service. The child was stillborn on October 26th.

Johnny Lee Williams

62 year old Johnny Lee Williams of King Ridge Road, Dowelltown died Saturday at his residence. He was a respiratory therapist and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. A private graveside service will be held and Dan Gulley will officiate. No visitation will be held with the Williams family. He was preceded in death by his father, William Dallas Williams and a sister, Virginia Nokes. Survivors include his wife, Joannie Williams of Dowelltown. Two daughters, Amy and her husband Patrick Cripps of Smithville and Shelli Williams of Murfreesboro. Grandchildren, Callie Cripps and Zoe Cripps. His mother, Mildred Williams. An aunt and uncle, Jewell and Earnest Davis of McMinnville. An uncle, Aubrey Williams of McMinnville. A nephew, Charles Nokes of Smithville. The family requests that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to a memorial fund in memory of Johnny at the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

82 year old Mattie Frances Malone of Alexandria died Saturday at the Boulevard Terrace Nursing Center in Murfreesboro. The body is at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria where the funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. Elder Barry Whitaker and Elder Frank Randolph will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Memorial cemetery in Alexandria. The Malone family will receive friends at Avant Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Leonard Saddler of Nashville. A granddaughter, Hana and her husband Joseph Fagan of Nashville. Brothers, Jimmy Curtis of Alexandria, Ralph and his wife Faye Curtis of Alexandria, Roy Dale and his wife Linda Curtis of Watertown. Sisters, Gladys Driver, Gracie Henley, and Amy Johnson all of Alexandria. A brother-in-law, Albert James Malone of Nashville. A sister-in-law, Willie Belle Harvey of Alexandria. Lorene Haley Eaton

91 year old Lorene Haley Eaton of Alexandria died Sunday at HQM of Nashville. She was a Cannon County native and a member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Don Elmore will officiate and burial will be in the Hearn Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service on Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie W. Eaton; a daughter, Margaret Ann Eaton; a son, John Ray Eaton; parents, John and Bonnie Haley; and brothers, Brownie and Demmon Haley. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Gannon of Donelson. A son, Billy Eaton of Watertown. A brother, Garvin Haley of McMinnville. Seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 67 year old Mary Frances "Josie" Shehane of Smithville died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center of Smithville. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mattie Lee Adcock Cantrell; her husband, Frank Shehane; two daughters, Katrina Bain and Peggy Frances Bain; four brothers, Carl, John, Joseph "Toot", and Gene Cantrell; and a sister, Macon Haas. Survivors include a daughter, Melinda Griffith and her Fiance Terry Strayn of Smithville. One son, Jason and his wife Laurie Bain of Alexandria. Twelve grandchildren, Candice and Jasmine Bain of Indiana, Michael Bain of Alexandria, Mindy Bain of Grant, Gena Bain of Temperance Hall, Nena Thomas of Smithville, Nathan Thomas of Alexandria, Ashley Ferrell of Smithville, Greg Cantrell of Lebanon, Courtney Bain of Smithville, Jessica Matthews of Alexandria, and Jeremy Matthews of Spencer. Three great grandchildren, Gracie Herrera and Tyler Gopar of Smithville, and Ashley Baker of Alexandria. One brother, Hoyte Cantrell of Smithville. Two sisters, Katie Cantrell and Ernestine Young both of Smithville and a special friend, Betty Jo Vaden of Alexandria. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
