Rebecca G. Clayton Brown Pedigo Beason

64 year old Rebecca G. Clayton Brown Pedigo Beason of Smithville died Thursday at her residence. She was a secretary with the UCHRA and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd McKinley Clayton; her step-father, Roy Melton Seals; and her grandparents, P.M. and Hattie Clayton, and Talmidge and Rebecca Myrtle Davis. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Timmy Clayton will officiate and burial will follow in the Snow Hill Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and James Burger of Kansas City, Kansas; Veronica and Jeff Baker of Middletown, Ohio; and Beth and Derwin Adcock of Smithville. Two step-sons, Darryl Brown II and his wife Debbie of New Jersey, and John Eric Beason of Florida. Her mother, Molly Edith Clayton Seals of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Christopher Shane White, Shay Nicole White and Joshua Thomas White, all of Kansas City, Kansas. Four great-grandchildren, Alexis Marie Howell and Damien Michael Howell, both of Missouri; Bryce Alexander White of Kansas City, Kansas; and Zacariah Jayce Baker of Arkansas. Two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Ellen Clayton of Smithville, and Perry and Dana Clayton of Crossville. Two sisters and a brother-in-law also survive, Brenda Trapp of Smithville, and Deborah and Tony Miller of Milledgeville, Georgia. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Bro. Hershell Ford

72-year-old Bro. Hershell Ford of the Short Mountain Community died Sunday at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was a member of Amity Baptist Church, and pastor of Wilson Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Laura Blair Ford; one son; Brad Ford, a brother, Henry Ford; and two sisters, Sallie Melton and Mary Daisy Gannon. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Leonard Herman and Nick Pelham will officiate, and burial will follow in the Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Survivors include his wife, Marie Cripps Ford of Woodbury. Two children and their spouses, James and Marilyn Hale, and Johnny and Donnell Ford, all of Woodbury. Four grandchildren, Chad and Breann Hale, Nick and Leslie Pelham, Taylor Ford and Callie Ford, all of Woodbury. Two great-grandchildren, Bella and Eli Pelham of Woodbury. Two sisters, Sara Moore of Woodbury, and Louise Smithson of Michigan. The family is asking in lieu of flowers, donations please be made to the Mt. Barbara Hicks Thomas

A memorial service for Barbara Hicks Thomas will be held on Saturday, July 19th, at 12:00 p.m. at Dowelltown Baptist Church. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. She is survived by three children, Amanda Shelton, April Hicks and Wayne Hicks. Two brothers, Jackie and Jessie Thomas of Smithville, and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Hale of Dowelltown and Mary Lou Hale of Smithville. Loretta Marie Watson

79 year old Loretta Marie Watson of McMinnville died Saturday at her residence in Warren County. She was retired from Smithville Shirt Factory where she worked as a seamstress. Watson was also a member of the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. and Greg Hibdon will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Clara Myrtle Jones Bratcher; her husband, John Watson; a brother, Paul Bratcher; and a sister, Rose Bivens. One grandson, Barry Melton. Survivors include three daughters, Patsy Helton of McMinnville, Rose and her husband Leonard Melton of Smithville, and Barbara and her husband Virgil Hibdon, Jr. of McMinnville. One son, Charles and his wife Carisa Watson of McMinnville. Seven grandchildren, Toni Herdman, Tina Helton, Brad Melton and his wife Jessica, Greg Hibdon and his wife Cheryl, Angela Brown and her husband Danny all of McMinnville, Crystal Waldron and her husband Dave of Murfreesboro, John Helton and his wife Tonya of Indiana. Seven great grandchildren, Brandi and Brook Herdman and Katy Helton all of Indiana, Matthew Hibdon, Brady and Baler Melton, and Alex and Abigail Brown all of McMinnville and William Waldron of Murfreesboro. One great great granddaughter, Ambria Leedy of Indiana. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends as well as one special niece, Ernesteen Cantrell. Annie Idell Hooper-Spann

83 year old Annie Idell Hooper-Spann of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired Librarian, a member of the Smithville Church of Christ, the Smithville Study Club and the Smithville Business and Professional Women's Club, and she helped organize blood drives. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dan Gulley and Tim Woodward will officiate and burial will be in the Cannady Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Ruth Johnson Hooper. Survivors include two sisters, Jewell Ellis of Florida and June Condrey of Virginia. Seven nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Pam Ball all of Smithville. William "Bill" Cantrell

70 year old William "Bill" Cantrell of Smithville died Thursday at the emergency room of DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Philippi Church of Christ, a U.S. Army veteran, and he was the owner of Republic Insurance of Smithville. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Burton-Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Beulah Ponder Cantrell; a sister, Jessie Nell Conley; a brother, Lawrence P. Cantrell; and a step-son, Christopher Jon Hillebrand. He is survived by his wife, Jane Scarlett Cantrell of Smithville. Children, William Edward Cantrell II and Nathan Cantrell both of Smithville, and Julia Cantrell of Cookeville. A step-son, Theodore Hillebrand of Virginia. A grandchild, Chloe Cantrell. Step-grandchildren, Rebecca Hillebrand, and Christopher John Hillebrand. Sisters, Ruby Ballard and Ruth Prinzville; and a brother, Frank Cantrell. W.C. Crook

84 year old W.C. Crook of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare Center. He was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in World War II, a Mason at Liberty Lodge, and he was a retired salesman at the American Battery Company. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Justin Terrell will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from noon until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewing Monroe and Jenny Alta Pittman Crook; sisters, Ruby Jim Skinner and Frances Jennings; and his first wife, Autrey Clayton Crook. Survivors include his wife, Doris Terrell Crook of Smithville. Children, Bettye Crook, Jerry and his wife Brenda Crook, Mitzi Ann and her husband Sammy Taylor all of Smithville, Penny Lou and her husband Jay Youngblood of Lascassas. Step-children, David and his wife Vicky Terrell of Smithville and Terry Terrell of Chattanooga. Grandchildren, Matthew Taylor, Jeremy Crook, Justin Terrell, Roth and his wife Jessica Terrell, John Terrell, Julie and her husband Charles Puryear. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Frances Adcock

92 year old Frances Adcock of Smithville died Monday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church, where she was active at the Wednesday morning prayer service. She was also a retired sales clerk at different department stores. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Rev. Terry Little will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford "Hoogan" Adcock; a son, Wayne Adcock; parents, W.L. "Dock" and Edna Summers Ferrell; sisters, Grace Webb and Myra Jones; and brothers, Ray, Robert, and Willie Ferrell. She is survived by a son, Ken and his wife Charlotte Adcock of Cleveland. A daughter-in-law, Judy Adcock of Livingston. Grandchildren, Ken Adcock, Jr and his wife Walailux of Georgia; Jonathan and his wife Anissa Adcock of Ooltewah, Amellia and her husband Richard Melton of Livingston, and Valerie and her husband Chris Boothe of Mississippi. Great grandchildren, Rebekah Adcock, Reese, Aleah, Eli Melton, and Sarah and Olivia Boothe. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the building fund of the Smithville First United Methodist Church.

84 year old Lorene W. Patton of Watertown died Sunday at the Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. She was born in DeKalb County and was a member of the Ramah Baptist Church. She was also a seamstress at Hartmann Luggage. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Stan Edwards will officiate and burial will be in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. Patton; a son, Boyd Lee Taylor; her father, Thurston Walls; her mother, Josephine Atnip; and three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon and her husband George Widuch of Hermitage. A son, Jerry and his wife Glenda Taylor of Watertown. Grandchildren, Jeff Taylor and Whitney and her husband Tony Parsley all of Watertown, Rachel and her husband Scott Cothran of Nashville, Daryl and his wife Tammy Taylor of Lebanon, Dewayne Taylor of Boaz, Alabama, Carla and her husband Dale Hollis Taylor of Watertown, and Vicky Taylor of Nashville. Ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren survive along with two brothers, Jimmy and his wife Jo Dean Atnip of Watertown and Junior Atnip of Smithville. A sister, Dean Thompson of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

95 year old Annie Lee Parsley of Smithville died Thursday at NHC. She was a retired Stanley dealer and a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Billy Hawkins, Jr. and Chuck Olson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent Lee and Josie Parker Barnes; husbands, McKinley Baker and Ammon Parsley; four brothers, Otis, Clifton, Solon and Luther Barnes; four sisters, Eller Carter, Janie Carter, Lorene Tramel, and Maudie Pack; and a daughter-in-law, Sarah Hawkins. She is survived by a son, Billy, Sr and his wife Dianne Hawkins of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Billy. Jr. and his wife Trudie Hawkins of Washington State, June Hawkins of Nashville, and Sandy and her husband Mack Harney of Smithville. Four great grandchildren, Sarah and Ben Hawkins of Washington State, John and Jessica Harney of Smithville, and dearest friend Tony Baker of Alexandria. Several nieces, nephew, and family also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
