Peggy Gail Turner

61 year old Peggy Gail Turner of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Tabernacle. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Garry McBride and Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lillie Martin Green; her husband, Wilson Turner; two sisters, and four brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Lynn and her husband Mike Jordan of Lavergne. Three grandsons, Ryan Turner, Weston and John Jordan all of Lavergne. Two sisters, Mary Pack and Margaret and her husband Russell Norton all of Smithville. Three brothers, John and his wife Robin Green of Ohio, David and his wife Diane Green, and Jay and Teddy Green all of McMinnville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has requested that donations please be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with burial expenses, in lieu of flowers.

Naomi Ruth Jones

67 year old Naomi Ruth Jones of Smithville died Monday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Chapel Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Steve Warren will officiate and burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lee and Ruth Hill Green; a daughter, Shelia Davenport; a grandson, Michael Pylant; four brothers, Tony Green, Shirley Green, Mark Green, and Shelton Green. Survivors include two daughters, Nellie Crotty of Smithville, Connie Sue Wagner of Sparta. Three sons, Victor Jones of Liberty, Glen and Lynn Jones of Smithville. Eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren. One brother, Gene Green of Alabama. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Bobby Cantrell

63 year old Bobby Cantrell of Lebanon died Tuesday morning at the Summit Medical Center at Hermitage. He was an employee of Prospect and a member of the Whorton Springs Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donald Owens, David Mahan, and Chuck Groover will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Nonnie Rhody Cantrell. He is survived by two brothers, James and his wife Geraldine Cantrell and Will Allen Cantrell all of Smithville. A sister, Mertie Ann and her husband Stan Williams of Hermitage. Three aunts, Mary Snow, Gladys Braswell, and Lena Rhody. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. House parents Mary and David Dempo of Lebanon. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to the Whorton Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, in lieu of flowers.

Mrs. Jessie Blackwell Pruitt

92 year old Mrs. Jessie Blackwell Pruitt of Smithville and formerly of Sparta died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Sparta. Burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Survivors include children, Janice Miller and her husband Willie, Inetta Taylor and husband Ron, Wanda Troglen, Brenda Fullerton and husband Scott, Waymon Blackwell and wife Mary, and Harold Blackwell and Jerry Blackwell. A brother, Elbert Griffin. Sisters, Maxine Banker and Ernestine Scoggins. Twenty eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Thurman Funeral Home in Sparta is in charge of the arrangements.

Tracy Darrel Cassity

37 year old Tracy Darrel Cassity of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was born in DeKalb County and was a construction worker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Junior Hibdon will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Smith; grandparents, Glen Smith, Tom Moore Cassity; and step grandfather, H.C. Duke. Survivors include his children, Christopher Cassity and Kristen Cassity; his wife, Marilyn Cassity; and his father, Bobby Cassity of Alexandria. Brothers, Jonathan "Rocky" Cassity and Josh Cassity of Alexandria. An uncle, Ricky Cassity of Alexandria. Grandparents, Ethel Lee Cassity of Alexandria and Lynn Duke of Smithville. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements. 41 year old Robert Wayne Davidson of Smithville died Saturday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral in Sparta and burial will be in the Bonham cemetery in DeKalb County. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Oaklawn Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Candida Davidson of Smithville. One son, Robert Wayne Davidson, Jr. of Smithville. His mother, Brenda Lou Higham of Sparta. His father, Asher Davidson of Sparta. A brother, Steve Davidson and his wife Sherry of Sparta. A sister, Priscilla Judkins of Smithville. A brother-in-law, Tony Culwell and his wife Lori and family of Smithville. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive. Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that contributions be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers.

90 year old Josie Marjorie Love of the Fountain Grove Community of Warren County died Wednesday at her residence. She was born in DeKalb County, a homemaker, and a member of the Viola Church of Christ. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Kevin Deason will officiate and burial will be in the Gardens of Memory. The Love family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zollie and Shirley Love Cantrell; her husband, James Landon Love; and her brothers, Norman Cantrell, Royce Cantrell, and Howard Cantrell. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Lee Brewer of the Fountain Grove Community. Grandchildren, Kristie Love Crouch of Murfreesboro and Suzanne Lynette Moore of Morrison. Great grandchildren Derek Alan Crouch, John Wiley Moore, and Shelby Love Moore. Sisters, Elizabeth Lafever of Atanta, Georgia, Rubye Cantrell of Smithville, Gladys Buck of Madison, Joyce Crosslin of Nashville, and Linda Hillis of McMinnville and brothers, Reed Cantrell and Gordon Cantrell both of McMinnville. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Cantrell McGuire. He is survived by his wife, Sue Turner McGuire of Nashville. One son, Richard Vandergriff of Old Hickory, and several cousins and friends. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

96 year old Doris Pearl Gard of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Allen Chapel Methodist Church. A graveside service will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Gard Cemetery. Tim Ferguson will officiate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ward and Rosella Loy Bonney; her husband, Cleo Gard; a son, Ronnie Gard; and a daughter, Karen Kay Gard. Survivors include a daughter, Sherri Gard; one son, Darwin and his wife Wanda Gard; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Gard all of Smithville. Eleven grandchildren, Denise Holcomb, Karla Warrick, Michelle Roller all of Smithville, Bill Gard of Murfreesboro, Tim Dixon and Lori Wall of Arizona, Wanda Kinnard of Cookeville, Kathy Neal of Smithville, Betsy Smith of Alexandria, Linda Thomas of Smithville, and Janet Cecil of Arrington, Tennessee. Thirty one great grandchildren. Seven great great grandchildren. One sister, Bob Westergreen of Iowa. There will be no visitation. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

92 year old Virgil Lee (Bud) Kirby of Smithville died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center. He was a retired maintenance worker for the DeKalb County School System and a member and deacon of the Mount Hope The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Savage and Dolly Cope Kirby; a sister, Ruetta Close; and a brother, Clyde Kirby. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Martella "Tee" Kirby. Three children, Doris Fuson, Deloy and his wife Diane Kirby, and Darrell and his wife Jewell Kirby all of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Teresa Johnson, Renee and her husband Brad Hennessee, Tarron and her husband Dale Johnson, Stephanie Kirby, Chad and his wife Shelia Kirby, and Chris Cantrell. Eight great grandchildren, Corey Williams, Jessica Bain, James Caplinger, Caleb Bain, Zackary Caplinger, Taylor Parker and Dallas Kirby, and Brylee Kirby all of Smithville. Two sisters, Jo Puckett of Smithville and Dale Reynolds of Hermitage. One brother, Edward and his wife Joyce Kirby of McMinnville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that donations please be made to the Mount Hope The Baptist Church and the Allen Hooper Scholarship Fund, in lieu of flowers.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bobby Muncey and George Roberts will officiate and burial will be in the New Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Emberton; brothers, Harvey, Dean, Jessie, and Charlie Emberton; and sisters, Virginia Young, Louise Hendrix, and Jo Barber. Survivors include his wife Helen Cantrell Emberton of Smithville and several nieces and nephews. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
