63 year old Jerrol Wayne Stults of Smithville died Sunday night at his residence. The funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and a complete list of survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced
later by DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

Hester Walker Warren

94 year old Hester Walker Warren of McMinnville died Wednesday of a short illness at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a housewife. The funeral will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Charles Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Blues Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Isaac Walker and Willie Reed Passons Walker; her husband, Jake Lane Warren; her son, Ernest Lee Warren; and her grandson, Steven Warren Stanley. She is survived by three sons, J.L., Norman, and Harold Warren all of Cannon County. Three daughters, Sepal and husband Rex Pedigo of McMinnville, Lucy and husband Steve Stanley of Smithville, and Carol and husband Aubrey Gunter of Short Mountain. Eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Paul Thomason

71 year old Paul Thomason of Dowelltown died Tuesday at his residence. He was a retired painter and a Baptist. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Hettie Thomason; a son, Doyle Thomason; a step-son, Bobby Pruitt; a sister, Rebecca Gingerich; and a brother, Frank Thomason. He is survived by his wife, Janie Winchester Thomason; two daughters, Joann and her husband Ricky Tramel and Sandra Snyder; one step-daughter, Barbara and her husband Thomas Easterwood all of Smithville. Three sons, Billy Pruitt, Jr. of Smithville, James D. and his wife Glenda Hale of Woodbury, and Jimmy Ray Hale of Nashville. Thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three sisters, Sue Trusty of Carthage, Peggy and her husband Doyle Keaton of Liberty, and Charlotte and husband Joe Hayes of Alabama. Two brothers, Joe and his wife Brenda Thomason of Dowelltown and Jess and his wife Carolyn Thomason of Indiana. Love--Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jake Montana Hoover

18 year old Jake Montana Hoover of Liberty died Sunday in an automobile accident at Liberty. He was born in DeKalb County, a student, and a member of Salem Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Mike Carpenter, Mark Wade, and Phil Dougan will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral at the church. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James O. Hoover; his great grandmother, Nevada Brennan; a great aunt, Donna Brennan; and an uncle, Russell Hogan. He is survived by his parents, Craig and Tammy Hoover of Liberty. A brother, Ryan Davidson of Liberty. Grandmothers, Patricia Hoover of Liberty and Donnie Wanger of Smithville. Uncles, Kim and Beth McDougal of Monticello, Florida, Jay Hoover of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Mitch McGilvra of Palm Bay, Florida. An aunt, Laurie and husband Doug Beals of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Cousins, Jason and Jacob McDougal of Monticello, Florida and James and Beth Beals of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Best friend, Justin Poteete of Liberty and the entire Salem Baptist Church family. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements. The family has requested that contributions be made to the family at the funeral home, in lieu of flowers.

Don Cantrell

71 year old Don Cantrell of Smithville died Tuesday night at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a member of Blue Springs Lodge #373, and the Whorton Springs Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Smithville Fire Department and a police officer for 35 years. Cantrell was also a truck driver with Smithville Freight Lines and ETA. A Masonic service will be held Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and the funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. James Williams, David Mahan and Michael Hale will officiate. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Sudie Cripps Cantrell. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sally Cantrell of Smithville. Children, Donnie and his wife Pat Cantrell, Gary and his wife Lisa Cantrell, Tammy and her husband Mark Ferrell all of Smithville, and Terry and his wife Tina Cantrell of McMinnville. Grandchildren Erica and Jason Bell, Elicia Cantrell, Travis and Adam Ferrell, Cody, and Daylon and Brooklyn Cantrell. Step grandchildren, Thomas and Savanna Russell, and Ashland Dillon. Great grandchild, Calliegh Cantrell. A sister, Lois and her husband Jim Williams of Gladeville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family has requested that donations be made to the Whorton Springs Baptist Church building fund, in lieu of flowers.

Gloria White Milligan

77 year old Gloria White Milligan of McMinnville died Monday at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury. She was born in DeKalb County. She was a retired employee of Mary's Green House, a former member of the Morrison Ruritan Club, and a member of Morrison First Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Jerry Brewer and Tommy Dye will officiate and burial will be in the Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at McMinnville Funeral Home. Mrs. Milligan was preceded in death by her parents James N. and Nancy Audrey Robinson Tittsworth, husband John C. Milligan, Sr., and sister Sandra Lorene Young. Survivors include her daughters Gloria Patricia McLoud and Melissa Sharpe and husband Charles, of Morrison; a son John C. Milligan, Jr. and wife Jenny of McMinnville; grandchildren Jason Douglas McLoud and wife Cindy, Tara Milligan and husband Patrick Graves, Lisa Milligan, Matthew Sharpe and wife Donna, and Monica Baker and husband Josh; great grandchildren Brad McLoud, Tayrin McLoud, Jesse C. Graves, Kaylyn Baker, Holden Baker, Kelton Baker, Sarah Sharpe, Cassie Sharpe, and Emma Sharpe, and special cousin and family Evelyn and Buster Wade and Sebrena and Trena of McMinnville. Bernard Richard Sramcik

91 year old Bernard Richard Sramcik of Dowelltown died Sunday at UMC in Lebanon. He was a retired supervisor with Uniroyal Tire Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vendle and Christina Sramick. Survivors include three daughters, Donna Parish and Brenda Plodzik of Michigan and Deborah Sramcik of Dowelltown. Two sons, Richard Breeding of Michigan and Roy Breeding of Dowelltown. Twelve grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. One brother, Paul Sramcik of Ohio. Two sisters, Wilma Clevend and Phillis Ptak of California. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will be announced later. The family has chosen direct cremation.

Harrison Donel "Toostie" Cook

80 year old Harrison Donel "Toostie" Cook of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church, the U.S. Air Force, and the Boilermakers Union #454. He was also a retired construction worker. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mike Carpenter and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Minnie Hall Cook; and brothers, Flossie B. Cook and Hoyte Cook. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Geraldine Hendrixson Cook of Smithville. Children, Gloria and her husband Steve Corbin of Lynchburg and Don M. and his wife Sandy Cook of Tullahoma. Step-son, Mike and his wife Melody Hendrixson of Florida. Grandchildren, Kelly Langdford, Jenny Breal, Jon Hendrixson, Sean Borne, and Lee Cook. Great grandchildren, Daisy Bondurant and Lilah Keaton Breal and mother-in-law, Elsie Hendrixson of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers.

James Edward LaFever

The funeral for 93 year old James Edward LaFever (better known as Ed LaFever) will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in the LaFever Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 7:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He is survived by his son, Richard LaFever. Four daughters, Joyce Ford, Penny Craighead, Barbara Cassilly, and Lisa Mackie. A sister, Willie Jo Thomas. The Baxter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Billy Joe Cowan

61 year old Billy Joe Cowan of McMinnville died Friday at his residence of an extended illness. He was a factory worker and a member of the Methodist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home in McMinnville. Greg Hibdon will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver B. and Erma C. Courtney Cowan. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Bianne and John Pennington of McMinnville. Two nieces and their husbands, Katrina Pennington and Rusty Thompson and Regenia Pennington and John Rovsek all of Atlanta, Georgia. Two great nieces, Abigail Thompson and Hannah Grace Rovsek. One uncle and two aunts also survive. Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home in McMinnville is in charge of the arrangements.
