79 year old Gladys Linder of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Steffee will officiate and burial will be in the Adcock Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 .m. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Linder; her parents, Alvie and Bertha Pedigo Ashburn; a daughter, Reba Fiffer; a son, Dolton Linder; three grandchildren, Mary Sue Hodges, Jerry Lee Taylor, and Bryon Linder; four brothers, J.B., James, Harley, and Silas Ashburn; and a sister, Willie Bee Moore. Survivors include a son, David Linder of Smithville. Three daughters, Patricia Linder of Smithville, Debora Anderson of Smithville, and Linda and husband George Bibby of Nashville. Eleven grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren survive along with a sister, Ruby and her husband Floyd Nokes of Smithville. Jean N. Alexander
83 year old Jean N. Alexander of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Baptist and a bookkeeper for Smithville Motors from 1958 until 1986. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Riverside cemetery in Woodbury. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alexander; her parents, Joe and Lera Tilfrod Northcutt; and a brother, Foster Northcutt. Survivors include two sons, Jim Alexander of Cookeville and Tommy and his wife Joyce Alexander of Smithville. One sister, Carol Banta of Smithville. Two brothers, Dixon and wife Isabell Northcutt of Brentwood and Charles W. "George" Northcutt of McMinnville. Four grandchildren, Jenny Elizabeth and Doug Lynch of Orlando, Florida; Rob Alexander of Smithville; David Alexander of Murfreesboro; and James Daniel Alexander of Smithville. Sisters-in-law, Edith Northcutt of Woodbury, Hazel Neely of Murfreesboro, and Waldean Mitchell of Murfreesboro. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jean and Richard Drury of Murfreesboro, John and Jane Alexander of Smithville. Daughter-in-law, Jan Alexander of Smithville. Nola B. Vandergriff
94 year old Nola B. Vandergriff of Smithville died Thursday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #477 and a real estate secretary/bookkeeper. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. B.J. Thomason will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Willie and Nola Ford Vandergriff; brothers, Walter Vandergriff and Valter Vandergriff; and sisters, Pauline Moon and Lois Vandergriff. Survivors include nieces, Nelda Sue Burklow, Carolyn and husband Kenneth Mullinax, Debra and husband Mitchell Rowland, Linda and husband Jerry Hassler, Vivian and husband Jimmy Hudson, and Sarah Dean and husband William Carew. Nephews, Wayne and wife Becky Vandergriff, Douglas and wife Shelia Vandergriff, Valter and wife Beth Vandergriff, and Thomas and wife Beverly Moon. 80 year old Billy Nixon of Smithville died Tuesday at Dekalb Community Hospital. He was a retired photographer for the U.S. Government and a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bill Robertson will officiate. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Finis and Jessie Jones Nixon; a sister, Yutharyee Leftwich; one brother, Huel Dee Nixon. Brenda Kaye Bell Ferrell
55 year old Brenda Kaye Bell Ferrell of McMinnville died Thursday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was born in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and was a unit secretary with River Park Hospital and a member of Bybee Branch Church of Christ. Mrs. Ferrell was preceded in death by her father Jack Bell and a sister Myra Lenore Bell. Survivors include her husband Troy Mitchell Ferrell of McMinnville. Her mother Myra Bell of McMinnville. A twin sister Glenda Faye Bell of McMinnville. Brothers Jack Allen Bell of Lenoir City and David Bryan and wife April Bell of Powell. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Tony Lawrence will officiate and burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. The Ferrell family will receive friends on Friday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
