Robert (Bob) Campbell

73 year old Robert (Bob) Campbell of Gassaway died Thursday at NHC Health Care Center of Murfreesboro of an extended illness. He was a Cannon County native, a member of the Clear Fork Methodist Church, a Mason of DeKalb Lodge #358, and he was a retired steam fitter and plumber. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Steve Kelly and James McDonald will officiate and burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 9:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Jessie Melton Campbell and a sister, Clara Hawkins. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jerris Hines Campbell of Gassaway. Four children, Robin Gunter, Mike and his wife Sharon Campbell, Jill Ellis, and Mark Campbell all of Gassaway and a sister, Kate Woods of Grants, New Mexico. Seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one great granddaughter also survive. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Susie Mai Miller

86 year old Susie Mai Miller of Bradyville died Friday at Stones River Hospital of Woodbury. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Timothy Pelham and Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will be in the Hale Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emily O'Conner Hale; her husband, Fred Miller; three brothers, Cappy, Delbert, and Willie Hale; and two sisters, Elmer Hobbs and Dovie Ferrell. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Joe H. Sissom of Bradyville. One son, Jackie Miller of Woodbury. Three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One sister-in-law, Juanita Hale of Liberty and several nieces and nephews. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Nina Reeder Phillips

66 year old Nina Reeder Phillips of Smithville died Wednesday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Royce Martin and Josh Phillips will officiate and burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vada Irene Reeder. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, William "Bill" Phillips of Smithville. Two sons, Randall and his wife Amelia Phillips and Marty and his wife Teresa Phillips all of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Josh Phillips of Nashville and Heath Phillips of Smithville. Four sisters-in-law, Norma Gunter, Mary Cantrell, and Jane Eller all of Smithville, and Faye Walker of McMinnville. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins survive along with two special friends, Joel Dawes and Joyce Robinson. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery Fund or to Lazarus House Hospice.

Luther W. Cantrell

87 year old Luther W. Cantrell of Smithville died Tuesday morning at DeKalb Community Hospital of an extended illness. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of the VFW and International Union Operators of Engineers Local 197, and he was retired from TVA and a retired night watchman for the City of Smithville. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Emma Sullens Cantrell; brothers, James Nathan "Goodle" Cantrell, Bethel Magness "Doc" Cantrell, and John Clifford "Sy" Cantrell; and sisters, Rachel and Thelma Cantrell. Survivors include his wife, Helen Fay Cantrell of Smithville; 2 sons, Wesley Cantrell of Murfreesboro; Bradley Cantrell of Miami, Florida; 1 grandson, Chad Cantrell and 1 great grandson. Two sisters-in-law, Freda and Frances Cantrell of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to either Justin Potter Library or to the DeKalb County Relay for Life in memory of Mr. Cantrell, in lieu of flowers.

Hilda Ray Patrick

87 year old Hilda Ray Patrick of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church, and the American Legion and Woodsmen of the World. She also supported her husband's military career all over the world for 30 years. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Arlington National cemetery in Virginia on September 11th at 9:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Aaron and Lillie Adcock Odom; two sisters, Ova Mai Vaughn and Dean Ceiszko; two brothers, Gentry and Elgard Odom and a daughter-in-law, Caryn Patrick. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Robert "Bill" Patrick of Smithville. A son, Richard Patrick of Texas. A granddaughter, Robin and Brian Patrick of Texas. Two sisters, Nona Dell Wheeler of Florida and Jean and Edwin Andereck of Cookeville. Three sisters-in-law, Dorthy Odom of Smithville, Margaret Ellen Thieme and Grace Louise Patrick both of California. One brother-in-law, Michael Allen Patrick of Arkansas. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that all donations please be made to the Smithville First United Methodist Church Building Fund, in lieu of flowers.

Bertha Rose McCullough

71 year old Bertha Rose McCullough of Alexandria died Saturday at the home of her daughter in Lebanon. She was a DeKalb County native and was retired from Wynns Precision where she worked for 28 years. She was also a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in the Flatwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William Garrison and Nannie Clara Watson Garrison; her husband, Ed Carson McCullough; a son, Jackie Grandstaff; a brother, James Garrison; and a sister, Elsie Mae McGregor. Survivors include four children, Debbie and her husband Gary Jones, John and his wife Darlene McCullough, and Susan and her husband Nathan Cox all of Lebanon, and Phil and his wife Alice McCullough of Florida. Nine grandchildren, Gary Jones, Jr. and Melanie Jones, Dusty and Luke McCullough, Mike and Rachel Smith, and Kelly, Katlyn, and P.J. McCullough. Six great grandchildren, Ashtyen, Chase, Brandon, Anthony, Paris, and Daltine. A brother, Hoyte and his wife Lucille Garrison of Alexandria. A brother-in-law, Jerry and his wife Connie McCullough of Lebanon. A sister-in-law, Willie Mae Garrison. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

Jena Matthews Hesson

52 year old Jena Matthews Hesson of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a housewife. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Robert Page and Richard Franklin will officiate and burial will be in the Cannady Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hesson, Sr.; her parents, William Junior Matthews and Betty Frances Davis Murphy; a daughter, Martha Sue Caldwell; grandchildren, Bobby Eric, Glendon Derrick, and Christian Hesson, and Jena Coronado; and sisters, Martha Todd and Patricia Ann Shoemake. Survivors include three children, April and her husband Martin Coronado, James Hesson, and David, Jr. and his wife Kathey Hesson all of Smithville. Brothers, James, Willie, William, and Roy Matthews, Randall Neal, and Doug and Terry Murphy all of Smithville. Sisters, Brenda Taylor, Helen Ervin, and Kathy Murphy of Smithville, and Pamela Hooten of South Carolina. The family has requested that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Mayes Woodlee

92 year old Edna Mayes Woodlee of McMinnville died Saturday at the Raintree Manor. She was a retired cafeteria manager at Warren County Senior High School and a member of the West Riverside Church of Christ. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Vernon Joines and Tim Woodward will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. "Bob" Woodlee; her parents, Oscar and Mary Pearson Mayes; a brother, George Mayes; and sisters, Lucille Blankenship, Carrie Blanks, Frances Bell, and Charlene Smith. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Earl Blair of Smithville and Gail Woodlee of McMinnville. Two brothers, Howard and his wife Joice Mayes and J.W. "Willie" and his wife Bobbie Mayes all of McMinnville. A sister, Betty Walker of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews also survive. Two brothers-in-law, Jesse J. Woodlee of Muncie, Indiana and Jewel Woodlee of McMinnville. High Funeral Home in McMinnvile is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity or to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.

Sherry Ann Galten

86 year old Sherry Ann Galten of Smithville died Wednesday afternoon at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Catholic and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. A memorial service will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Don Davidson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:30 p.m. Galten was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Frank Galten and her parents. Survivors include a son, Lawrence Galten of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Malia and Alan Galten of Arizona. Two great grandchildren, Sarai and Cy. A half-brother, Stanley Pojanowski of Minnesota and a nephew, Jim Pojanowski of Clarksville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family has requested that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to Freckles Friends.

89 year old Mary Charles Pistole of Murfreesboro and formerly of Liberty died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare of Murfreesboro. She was born in Liberty and she was a teacher and a member of Salem Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Don Mathis will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Lee and Intha Sissom Pistole; two brothers, Vesper and his wife Eva Pistole and Jimmy Pistole. Survivors include a brother, Alfred and his wife Virginia Pistole of Murfreesboro. Nephews, Al and his wife Caroline Pistole of Franklin and Jerry and his wife Judith Pistole of Cookeville. A niece, Patsy and her husband Tom Harris of Murfreesboro. Great nephews, Jerry Franklin and his wife Jane Pistole of Franklin, Jarrett and his wife Crystal Pistole of Liberty, John Pistole of Cookeville, Warren Pistole of Franklin, and Colt Harris of Murfreesboro. Great nieces, Rachael and her husband Chris Rainwater of Murfreesboro, and Elizabeth Graham Pistole and Natalie Pistole both of Franklin. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
