BULLS GAP -- Sarah Hannah Cope, age 84, Sneedville, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Ridgeview Nursing Home, Rutledge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tyler Cope, Sneedville; a son, Tyler Cope Jr. of Indiana; two grandchildren; four brothers; and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Dorothy) Seal, Sneedville, Mrs. Ben (Cleta) White, Bulls Gap, Mrs. Eddie (Annette) Winstead, Bean Station, Cheryl Glancy of California, and Mrs. Jerry (Rita) Denton, White Pine; sons, Dean Cope, Memphis, Clarance Cope and Wayne Cope, both of Rogersville, J.D. Cope, Bulls Gap, and Wade Cope of North Carolina; a brother, Taylor Mullins, Rutledge; 29 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Rev. Danny Lamb officiating. Gravesisde services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000, at the Holt Cemetery in Hancock County on War Creek Road.
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday prior to the services at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Mae Manis
Died: 06/13/2000
ROGERSVILLE -- Mae Manis, age 76, Rogersville, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, following a brief illness.
She attended Magnolia Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Betty Elizabeth Ward Watkins; two sons, Larry Eugene Manis and an infant son; two brothers, Orville and Marvin Watkins; and two sisters, Laura Ferrell and Martha Watkins.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Manis of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Bill Goins, Linda and Clinton Davis, all of Rogersville, Kathy and Gary Gott, Kingsport, and Lisa and Brian Shuffler, Elizabethton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Dee Manis, Church Hill, and David and Penny Manis, Rogersville; 15 grandchildren, Billy Goins, Bobby Manis, Michael Goins, Melissa Tankersly, Salena Cox, Kevin Lindsey, Brian Davis, Jonathan Harrell, Amber Harrell, Emily Manis, Chad and Charlie Hutson, and Brandon Shuffler; seven great-grandchildren, Landon Manis, Halie and Alaina Tankersly, Lauren and Allyson Lindsey, Mara Cox and Madison Davis; a sister, Sarah Moorelock, Rogersville, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2000, in the funeral home chapel with Revs. Ted Riner, Reed Mitchell and Carl Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
Shirley Hampton
Died: 06/20/2000
BOWDON, GA -- Shirley Anne Bryan Hampton, age 65, Bowdon, GA, formerly of Rogersville, died Friday, June 20, 2000, in Atlanta, GA.
She was a pharmacist for 38 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. Bryan and Bertie Bryan Greene.
She is survived by her husband, Edmond Hampton Sr., Rogersville; a son, Edmond Hampton II and wife Amanda, Atlanta; a daughter, Jennefer Vaughan and husband Ernest, Bowdon; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Eve Head and Emily Vaughan; grandsons, Will Head and Bryan Hampton; a sister, Jane Shanks and husband Doyle, Rogersville; a niece, Cynthia Stroud and husband Jeff; a great-niece, Jessica Stroud; and step-father, Jimmie Greene, Rogersville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Bowdon First United Methodist Church.

Daryl S. Freeman
Died: 07/02/2000
KNOXVILLE -- Daryl S. Freeman, age 75, Knoxville, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at home.
He was a faithful member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church and served as a deacon for 46 years. He was a scout master and member of the Order of the Arrow. He retired as a warrant officer from the 110th ACW Flight with 41 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Star. He was a well-known public accountant for over 30 years in Knox County. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Freeman; and a brother, Richard Freeman.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margurette F. Freeman; a son, David S. Freeman, Knoxville; a sister, Ina Freeman Davidson; brothers, Robert Freeman and Donald Freeman, both of Rogersville, and Lawrence Freeman of Florida; three grandchildren; and a very special friend, Hal Williams.
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held following Masonic rites at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2000, with Dr. Terry Kirby officiating. Military graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Rocky Hill Baptist Church.

ROGERSVILLE -- Debbie Kate Slater, Rogersville, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 15, 1910.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Slater; a son, Joe Slater; a daughter, Lola Slater; and a grandson, Gary Trent.
She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Slater, Rogersville, Hickman Slater, Spartansburg, SC, and Dennis Slater, Rogersville; four daughters, Mary (Slater) Trent, Nellie (Slater) Williams, and Charlotte (Slater) Stubblefield, all of Rogersville, and Scottie (Slater) Burchette, Baileyton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Rev. John Parrott Sr. officiating. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2000, at Dodson Creek Cemetery.

Stan Kozenskie

GREENEVILLE -- Stan Kozenskie, age 47, Greeneville, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Wellmont*Holston Valley Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident June 5, 2000.
He was born in Harrisburg, PA, and had lived in this area for over 25 years. He was a truck driver. He was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law and uncle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 2 1/2 years, Linda Shuler Kozenskie; three sisters, Carol Kreiner, Faye Kozenskie and Rosella Kozenskie, all of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Walter Kozenskie and John Kozenskie, both of Pennsylvania; special in-laws, Lon and Carol Shuler, Terry and Mary Templeton, Steve and Carolyn Lord, Phillip and Kathy Murray, Jack and Gladys Shuler; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2000, at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Friday with Rev. George Holmes officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2000, in the East Lawn Memorial Park.
Louis Rogers

KINGSPORT -- Louis Rogers, age 67, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Sunbridge Health Care Center.
He was raised and lived in Rogersville for a number of years and also in Morristown for a number of years. While attending church, he was of the Holiness faith.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Rachel Rogers; a wife, Bertha Rogers; son, Louis Rogers Jr.; two sisters, Ann and Lear Rogers; five brothers, Carl, Clyde, James, Charles and John Rogers.
He is survived by four daughters, Carrie Lee Davis, Kingsport, Kathy (Thomas) Collins, Rogersville, Doris Rogers, Kingsport, and Alfreda Womack, Rogersville; a son, William Louis Kyle, Morristown; a step-daughter, Shirley Allen, Morristown; three step-sons, George Simpson, Billy Simpson and Delmus Simpson, all of Morristown; two sisters, Rozella McKinney, Ft. Pierce, FL, and Mary Rogers Mascotte of Florida; 17 grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Kaylea Kinsler, Logan Hicks, Hinson Dukes, Courtney Gass, Micheal Collins, Sacchae’us Dukes, Aaron Lopez and Jayla Lopez. The family will receive friends from 2 - 3 p.m. at Powerful New Life Church of God In Christ with Elder Hugh Hale officiating.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000, at Powerful New Life Church of God In Christ, Kingsport. Burial will follow in Mitchell Crest Cemetery, Rogersville.

Mary K. Bridges

DAYTON -- Mary K. Bridges, age 60, Dayton, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at her home.
She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Lee and Frances Gordon Shockney; husband, George H. Bridges Sr.; and a daughter, Gale Hall.
She is survived by two sons, George Bridges Jr., Rogersville, and Larry Bridges, Mooresburg; a daughter, Tammy Waller, Dayton; two brothers, Charles Shockney, Baltimore, MD, and Robert Shockney, Savage, MD; two sisters, Barbara Wilson and Thelma Trimper, both of Baltimore; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000, at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery.
Roshell Frost

KINGSPORT -- Roshell "Frosty" Frost, age 74, Kingsport, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army/Air Force, and was retired from Holston Defense with 28 years of service.
He was preceded in death by two infant daughters; a son, Douglas Frost; parents, Willie and Alice Frost; brother, Edward Frost; and two sisters, Kathleen Frost and Pauline Linkous.
He is survived by his wife, Pansy Salyers Frost of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Wayne and Judy Powers; daughter-in-law, Brenda Frost; two grandsons and wives, Steve and Amy Powers and Kenny and Tina Powers; two granddaughters, Tabitha Frost Hart and April Frost; two great-granddaughters, Chanda Powers and Samatha Morrison; three great-grandsons, David Hart, Chase Powers, and Jeremiah Johnson, all of Kingsport; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and A.J. Davis, Church Hill; three brothers and sisters-in-law, harold and Rosie Frost, Rogersville, Sidell Frost, Surgoinsville, Bobby and Brenda Frost, Surgoinsville; a sister-in-law, Renate Frost; brother-in-law, Marvin Linkous; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Revs. John Parrott Sr. and David Powers officiating. Hawkins County Color Guard will conduct military graveside services 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Highland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000, prior to the services at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.
