CLETA (WILLETT) WADE CHASE SECHRIST
Mrs. Cleta (Willett) Wade Chase Sechrist, 85, of Cane Hill, AR, died Thursday, November 18 in Cane Hill. Burial was in the family plot at English Baptist cemetery in Avery, TX.

Mrs. Sechrist had been a real estate agent, a professional seamstress, and an internationally known dog breeder of Chinese Pugs. She was a noted gardener and was considered an excellent cook.

She grew up around the Brotherton, Spring Creek, Vines Ridge, and Muddy Pond communities of Overton County. She was the oldest of four children who lived.

Born April 25, 1919, in Algood, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Burris and Birtie Lee (Looper) Willett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Lawton Ford Wade and Dana Blanchard Chase; a brother, John Sidney "Charles" Willet; and a sister, Juneva Maud Middleton.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Edward Sechrist of Cane Hill; a daughter, Judith Wade Chase Anderson and her husband, Earl, of Tahlequah, OK; a sister, Ramona (Willett) Stewart Thomas and her husband, Dave, of Avery; and many nieces and nephews, Vicky Willett Hoffman, Johnny Willett, Shirley Willett, Randall ÒRandyÓ Willett, Dwain Willett, Sharon Middleton Schmale, Russell V. Stewart, and Rhonda Stewart Garrison, all of Texas.

OZELLA WARD
Funeral services for Miss Ozella Ward, 90, of Cookeville and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Hilham cemetery with Bro. Mike Tidwell and Bro. Kerry Duke officiating.

Miss Ward died Thursday, November 25 at Overton County Nursing Home. Retired from Union Carbide Plant in Oak Ridge, she was of the Church of Christ faith.

Born March 9, 1914, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. and Laura B. (Upton) Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Ward; and a sister, Beul Tidwell.

Survivors include a sister, Olen Maxwell of Hilham; a brother-in-law, Charles Tidwell of Gallatin; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Mike Maxwell, Christopher Looper, Brad Jolley, Gib Jolley, Kenny Johnson, and Matt Johnson.

ROY DONALD PHILLIPS
Funeral services for Mr. Roy Donald Phillips, 75, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in West cemetery in Cookeville with Rev. Billy Haney officiating.

Mr. Phillips died Monday, July 21 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He worked at Rath Meat Packing Plant and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and United States Navy.

Born July 30, 1927, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Jake and Mary (Carwile) Phillips.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Phillips of Livingston; a step-son, David Townsley of Lafayette, IN; a step-daughter, Diane George and husband, Bill, and Jackie Townsley, all of Livingston; two sisters, Pearl Crawford of Livingston and Ona Russell of Goodlettsville; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Richard Smith, Doyle Buell, Ben Goolsby, Harold Lynn, Kenneth Lynn, and Tommy Phillips.

ALVA MEREDITH "AL" SKELTON JR
Funeral services for Mr. Alva Meredith "Al" Skelton Jr, 85, of Nashville, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ronald Whited officiating.

Mr. Skelton died Friday, July 25 at Bethany Health Care Center in Nashville. He was a retired rural mail carrier for United States Postal Service, a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corp, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Livingston. He was also a member of the VFW, the American Legion, Overton County Lions Club, Fairgrounds Volunteer Fire Department, and Dale Hollow Chapter 1222 Experimental Aircraft Association. He started flying at age 16 and was a ham radio operator.

Born May 21, 1918, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Alva Meredith Skelton Sr. and Annie (Turner) Skelton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Elise Skelton; and a son, Ronald Skelton.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Teresa Skelton, Fayetteville, GA; daughter by love, Debbie Reeves and husband, Jerry, of Antioch; a granddaughter, Monica Eleece Jones and husband, Jesse, of Cottontown; two grandsons, Craig Skelton of Fayetteville, GA, and Matthew Todd Roberts of Antioch; and a brother, Carl W. Skelton of Audubon, PA.

Pallbearers were E.B. Gray, Johnny Halfacre, Jerry Dale, Benny Buck, Craig Booher, Carl Allred, Gary Bilbrey, Roger Carr, and Jerry Sadlin, all members of Dale Hollow Chapter 1222 Experimental Aircraft Association.

Honorary pallbearers were the remaining members of Dale Hollow Chapter 1222 Experimental Aircraft Association and the menÕs Bible class at First United Methodist Church in Livingston.

LENORA MAY YEAGER
Mrs. Lenora May Yeager, 83, of Livingston, died Wednesday, July 9 at her home. She was a waitress.

Born April 1, 1920, in Vincennes, IN, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Flossie (Smith) Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Authur Yeager.

Survivors include a daughter, Melanie Doherty of Livingston; two grandchildren, Debra Danner and Mark Danner, both of Livingston; six great grandchildren, Thea Danner and Brett Danner, both of Livingston, and Mark E. Danner, Jaren Doherty, Melissa Doherty, and Raymond Doherty, all of Baltimore, MD.

No services have been planned at this time. The family has chosen cremation.

Clara Dimple (Warden) Bilbrey
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Dimple (Warden) Bilbrey, 77, of Cocoa, FL, were conducted on Sunday, September 10, 2003, at Fountainhead Memorial Gardens in Palm Bay, FL.

Mrs. Bilbrey died Wednesday, September 10 at her home.

Born January 29, 1926, in Overton County, she was the daughter of Ina Elizabeth Warden of Livingston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bilbrey; and two brothers, Lonzie Warden and Paul Warden.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include five children, Patricia (Bilbrey) Upchurch, Jimmy Bilbrey, Lee Bilbrey, and Michael Bilbrey, all of Cocoa, and Linda (Bilbrey) Harmon of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Elsie Kathleen (Warden) Matthews of Palm Shores, FL, and Bobbie June (Warden) Ramsdell of Benton, KY; seven grandchildren; and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Special care provided by Fountainhead Memorial Gardens.

JANE ELIZABETH BILBREY
Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Elizabeth Bilbrey, 68, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Ruth Chapel cemetery with Bro. Kent Terry officiating.

Mrs. Bilbrey died Sunday, September 28 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She worked 25 years at Botany 500, and 15 years at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a member of Livingston Church of Christ.

Born September 20, 1935, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Agnes (Wilborn) Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Deloye Bilbrey; and a brother, Bobby Roberts.

Survivors include a son, Terry Bilbrey of Livingston; and a grandson, Kohle Bilbrey.

INA MARY GUNNELS
Funeral services for Mrs. Ina Mary Gunnels, 81, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Craig Green and Rev. Larry Thomas officiating.

Mrs. Gunnels died Thursday, September 18 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired shirt factory employee, and a member of Allons Baptist Church.

Born June 22, 1922, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Lannie and Montie (Burchett) Bilbrey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Gunnels.

Survivors include two sons, James Gunnels and his wife, Jerikay, of Mt. Juliet and David Gunnels and his wife, Debbie, of Livingston; two daughters, Jene Barsness and her husband, Dennis, of Allons, and Reba Maynard, and her husband, Gerald, of Livingston; two sisters, Robbie Reagan and her husband, Paul, of Livingston and Ilene Massengille and her husband, John, of Allons; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Brandon Gunnels, Joshua Gunnels, Jeremiah Maynard, Jonathan Maynard, Alex Gunnels, Andy Gunnels, and Aeric Gunnels.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Paul Reagan, John Massengille, Steve Strickland, and Danny Odle.

AARON JOSEPH HUFF & BENJAMIN ISAAC HUFF
Graveside services for Masters Aaron Joseph Huff and Benjamin Isaac Huff, infant twins, of Knoxville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2003, at Bethsaida cemetery in the Monroe Community with Rev. Bill Gowder officiating.

The twins died Thursday, September 25 at UT Memorial Hospital in Knoxville.

Born Thursday, September 25, 2003, in Knoxville, they were the sons of Shean and Kim (McDonald) Huff of Knoxville.

Survivors, in addition to their parents, include their grandparents, Roger and Mildred McDonald of Monroe and John and Patty Huff of Knoxville; great grandparents, Waverly and Clara Pile of Jamestown; and two sisters, Eva Joy Huff and Eliza Faith Huff, both of Knoxville.

Memorial contributions may be made to The West Park Baptist Church Children's Focus Program, 8833 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923.

ALINE JOHNSON
Funeral services for Mrs. Aline Johnson, 63, of Sparta, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2003, at Community Freewill Baptist Church in Sparta.

Burial was in Plainview Cemetery, in Cassville, with Bro. Carson Whiteaker and Bro. Jerry Sester officiating.

Mrs. Johnson died Monday, September 23 at Mid Western Medical Center in Zion, IL. She was a retired director at Sparta Head Start and a member of Community Freewill Baptist Church. Born January 27, 1940, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of the late Dallas and Nicie (Foster) Holloway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Cordell Holloway.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Dillard Johnson of Sparta; a daughter, Rena Johnson and her husband, Michael, of Cookeville; a brother, Delbert Holloway and his wife, Nola, of Monterey; a sister, Bessie England, and her husband, Rev. David, of Sparta; four grandchildren, LaTisha Johnson, Landon Johnson, Layne Johnson, and Laken Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and additional family members.

Pallbearers at the church were Orvin Sparks, Billy Stevens, Joshua Davis, Jeremy Davis, Talmage Brown, David Bain, Eddie Brown, and Kevin Brown.

Pallbearers at the cemetery were her brothers-in-law, Morris Hobbs, Gene Johnson, Rex Jones, Les Stringer, Shannon Mooneyham, James Harold Johnson, Rev. David Lee England, and Rev. George Johnson.

WILLIE FRANK JONES
Willie Frank Jones, 89, of Cookeville. Death does not end life Ð it serves as a transition to eternal life. As Willie Frank passed away on Monday, September 22, 2003, he took great comfort in this knowledge.

Willie Frank was born on August 20, 1914, and was highly respected for his honesty and integrity in the logging industry and by families in Putnam and surrounding counties.

As a fourth generation timber inspector who has walked literally hundreds of acres estimating tracts of timber throughout Middle Tennessee, Willie Frank led an active and robust lifestyle in the outdoors for almost nine decades and was often recognized and admired for his energy and strength.

In addition to dedicating 75 years to his career in the logging profession, Willie Frank was married to Avie (Padgett) Jones, his devoted and faithful wife of 50 years, and was a father to eight children and a grandson. A spiritual man, Willie Frank was of the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Pansy (Buckner) Jones; sister, Bonnell Jones; sister, Avannah Pointer; brother, C.J. Jones; brother, Jim Jones; grandson, Terry Lynn Ford; brother, Paul Jones; step-son, Robert Lewis Ford; and a brother, Horace Jones.

Survivors are: his wife, Avie (Padgett) Jones of Cookeville; son, Willie Frank Jones Jr. of Cookeville; daughter, Martha Rebecca Jones of Gatlinburg; daughter, Cynthia Elizabeth Clapp of Maryville; son, Jerry Roger Jones of Cookeville; son, Larry Bruce Jones of Cookeville; daughter, Judith Kay McPherson of Nashville; step-son, John Ronnie Ford of Rickman; sister, Beauton Morphew of Cookeville; sister, Joyce Haney of Cookeville; brother, Gleen Jones of Detroit; brother, Bob Jones of Cookeville; and brother, Norman Jones of Cookeville.

Willie Frank will be sorely missed by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and dozens of adoring nieces and nephews throughout the country.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 26, 2003, at 2 p.m. from Monterey United Methodist Church with Ministers Jack Gentry and Robert Holt officiating.

Interment was in Whitaker cemetery immediately following the services.
