Funeral services for Mrs. Flora P. Carwile, 97, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Maxwell Chapel cemetery with Bro. Barry Mayes officiating.
Mrs. Carwile died Sunday, June 6 at her home. She was a housewife and a member of Hilham Church of Christ.
Born November 6, 1906, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Bethel and Mary Elizabeth (Philpot) Pitcock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Carwile; a son, Marvin E. Carwile; two daughters, Mallie Carwile and Amanda Carwile; a brother, Odis Pitcock; two grandchildren, Ray Allen and Gary Lee; and a great grandchild, Amy Maynord.
Survivors include two sons, Edd Carwile and his wife, Cindy, of Dyersburg, and Larry Carwile and his wife, Margaret, of Hilham; three daughters, Madeline Carwile of Livingston and Mildred Lee and her husband, Greasy, and Myrtle Allen and her husband, Clifton, all of Hilham; a daughter-in-law, Aldie B. Carwile; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jason Carwile, Jerran Allen, Edwin Lee, Terry Allen, John David Carwile, and Adam Miller.

BERNICE LEE DENTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Lee Denton, 97, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Bro. Dwayne Hargis officiating.
Mrs. Denton died Wednesday, June 2 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ.
Born October 11, 1906, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Mary (Sweat) Fuqua. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Denton; a daughter, Maxine Hill; and a grandson, Eddie Hill.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jo McDonald of Livingston; 6 grandchildren, Doug Parsons, Mike Parsons, Tony Parsons, Debbie Boles, Kelly Hill, and Penny Hill; and 12 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Doug Parsons, Mike Parsons, Tony Parsons, Derrick Parsons, Kelly Hill, and Hayden Hill.

MARCHIE EVADEAN (SMITH) GARRETT
Funeral services for Mrs. Marchie Evadean (Smith) Garrett, 83, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, from Brown Funeral Chapel in Byrdstown.
Burial was in Story cemetery with Bro. Charles Gibbs officiating.
Mrs. Garrett died Wednesday, June 2 at her home. She was a factory employee, a homemaker, and a member of Bethsaida Christian Church. She had attended First Baptist Church in Byrdstown for the past several years.
Born March 2, 1921, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Etter (Smith) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ottis Garrett; two sisters, Junie Sells and Sarah Taylor; and two brothers, Odell Smith and Kermit Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Savage of Livingston and Dianne Garrett of Cookeville; a son, Ronnie Garrett and his wife, Wanda, of Clayton, IN; a sister, Elise Ledbetter of Michigan; two brothers, Doyle C. Smith of Cookeville and Hollis Smith of Byrdstown; three grandchildren, Stacy Staggs, Joey DeDominicis, and Stephanie Mitford; and two great grandchildren, Isabella Mitford and Abigail Staggs.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Sells, Jerry Sells, Pete Lee, Lloyd Taylor, Terry Smith, and Jimmy Storie.

GENEVA U. MAYNORD
Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva U. Maynord, 74, of Allons, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Edwin Garrett officiating.
Mrs. Maynord died Sunday, May 30 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a beauty salon owner and a member of Allons Bethel Assembly of God.
Born January 30, 1930, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Lora (Cole) Garrett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Dalton Maynord; a sister, Aura Lee Thompson; and six brothers, Billy Garrett, Coley Garrett, Joe Garrett, Louis Garrett, Monty Garrett, and Clyde Garrett.
Survivors include a son, Mike Maynord of Cookeville; a daughter, Martha Brown of Gainesboro; a brother, Teddy Garrett of Livingston; a sister, Nytaree Hilton of California; and four grandchildren, Cody Maynord, Peighton Maynord, Katelyn Brown, and Mason Brown.
Pallbearers were Andrew Ramsey, John Daniels, Butch Garrett, Joel Garrett, Ted Garrett, and Roy Dale Parrott.

MCCOY ALLEN MCDONALD
Funeral services for Mr. McCoy Allen McDonald, 73, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Paran cemetery with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating.
Mr. McDonald died Tuesday, June 1 at his home. He was a foreman at Overton Farmers Co-op, a member of Christian Community Church, and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Born August 26, 1930, in Overton County, he was the son of the late R.L. Benton and Mary Ann (Swafford) McDonald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Coleen Crawford.
Survivors include his wife, Neva McDonald of Livingston; a son, Patrick McDonald of Clinton; a brother, Bobby McDonald of Livingston; two sisters, Marie Smith and Joyce Linder, both of Alpine; and two step-grandchildren, Josh Scott and Jordan Scott.
Pallbearers were Bobby Beechboard, Wayne Beechboard, Eric Beechboard, Gaywon Ferrell, Kenny Smith, and Tommy Ketner.

BESSIE PHILLIPS
Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Phillips, 66, of Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.
Burial was in Phillips Cemetery, in the Anderson Community, with Rev. Daily McCowan and Rev. Tex Boles officiating.
Mrs. Phillips died Sunday, June 6 at her home. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Monterey 2nd Freewill Baptist Church.
Born December 31, 1937, in Monterey, she was the daughter of the late Emby and Clemie (Vaughn) Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, L.J. Phillips and Jack Phillips.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, M.B. Phillips of Monterey; a son, Tony Phillips and his wife, Pam, of Monterey; three sisters, Mae Seagraves of Pleasant Hill, and Mertie Jackson and Linda Walker, both of Monterey; two brothers, Marshall Phillips and Arnold Phillips, both of Monterey; and a special granddaughter, Oriana Phillips of Monterey.

MYRA LEE (FABRE) SELLS
Funeral services for Mrs. Myra Lee (Fabre) Sells, 63, of Monroe, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sells died Tuesday, June 1 at Overton County Nursing Home. Retired from the Overton County Nursing Home Cafeteria Department, she was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Born October 18, 1940, in Mobile, AL, she was the daughter of the late Tony and May (Pethel) Fabre. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale Sells; a daughter, Toby Lyn Garrison; and a brother, Danny Fabre.
Survivors include her husband, Forrest "Sonny" Sells of Monroe; a daughter, Toni Gruic of Lakemore, OH; two step-sons, Gary Sells of Cookeville and Don Sells of Hartville, OH; two brothers, Mike Fabre of Arizona and Ray Fabre of Lakemore; four grandchildren; a special friend, Tina Hummel of Allons; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

HELEN VINSON
Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Vinson, 74, of Jackson and formerly of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, from the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home of Cookeville.
Burial was in Paran cemetery with Dr. Don Thrasher, minister of North Side United Methodist Church in Jackson, officiating.
Mrs. Vinson died Monday, May 31 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. She had been hospitalized for injuries she received in a head-on collision in Jackson on Thursday, March 25. Her husband, Charles Vinson, was killed in the accident. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside United Methodist Church in Jackson.
Born May 4, 1930, in Algood, she was the daughter of the late Ben Letcher and Maggie Alice (Stockton) Norris. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Jackson, and two brothers, Harold Ray and Roy Lee Norris.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Bruce Vinson and his wife, Linda, of Germantown, and Randy Vinson and his wife, Bernadette, of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Dr. Jason Vinson, Ian Vinson, Todd Vinson, Taylor Vinson, Jonathan Vinson, and Olivia Vinson; and two sisters, Grace Hamlin of Cookeville and Marjorie Norris of Algood.
Pallbearers were Jason Vinson, Ian Vinson, Todd Vinson, Taylor Vinson, Jonathan Vinson, and Jessica Vinson.

CHARLES HASTON WINNINGHAM
Mr. Charles Haston Winningham, 66, of Ogden, UT, died Thursday, May 20.
Born April 7, 1938, in Allons, he was the son of the late Haskel and Veachel (Sevier) Winningham.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie Nelson and Trina Cornia; three brothers, Carvel Winningham, Dallas Winningham, and David Winningham; and three sisters, Kathaline Smith, Aderine Hodge, and Florine Smith.
HUGH MAXEY PETERMAN
Funeral services for Mr. Hugh Maxey Peterman, 76, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Peterman-Cole cemetery with Rev. Dick Frazier and Dr. Randall Goodman officiating.
Mr. Peterman died Saturday, September 27 at Livingston Regional Hospital.
He was a painter, and a member of McFerrin United Methodist Church. Born October 6, 1926, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Hugh Tolbert and Bessie Ella (Brown) Peterman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Luke Peterman; and a son, Danny Peterman.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Peterman of Allons; a son, Gerald Peterman and his wife, Karen, of Allons; four grandchildren, Wendy Robbins, Clint Peterman, Jacob Peterman, and Will Peterman; and two great grandchildren, Brea Robbins and Sawyer Robbins.
Pallbearers were Bill Bilbrey, Joe Eddie Sullivan, Bill Buford, Bill Warren, Jerry Shaw, and Keith Carr.

THURMAN LEE "PETE" PETERMAN SR.
Funeral services for Mr. Thurman Lee "Pete" Peterman Sr., 94, of Allons, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Hunter Cove cemetery with Rev. Larry Thomas officiating.
Mr. Peterman died Friday, September 26 at his home.
He was a retired postmaster at Allons Post Office, a general store owner, and a member and deacon of Allons Bapist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, a chaplain of the Honor Guard of James T. Davis VFW Post 5062 in Livingston, a life member of the VFW, and a member of Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodge 259.
Born December 3, 1908, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Sib Riley and Lizzie (Spicer) Peterman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Peterman.
Survivors include a son, Lee Peterman of Morristown; a sister-in-law, Ora Mai Grace of Livingston; two grandchildren, Brandi Peterman and Ryan Peterman, both of Wilmington, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gordon Kenney, William McMahon, John Wilmoth, Jack Watkins, Durran Lewis, and David Copeland.
