HERSHEL HOMER POSTON
Funeral services for Mr. Hershel Homer Poston, 93, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Rev. Jeff Monday officiating.
Mr. Poston died Tuesday, December 7 at his home. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Rickman First Baptist Church, and a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Born April 13, 1911, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Johnnie Bell and Mary Isabell (Wilson) Poston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mauda A. (Ray) Poston; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Hershel Atnip of Cookeville and Judith Graham of Villa Rica, GA; two brothers, Gerald Poston of Cookeville and Billy Poston of St. Petersburg, FL; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Scott Samples, Michael Hamilton, Alex Robinson, Richard Lee, Max Graham, and Jim Atnip.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lazarus House Hospital of Cookeville.

JOE ALLEN SMITH
Funeral services for Mr. Joe Allen Smith, 48, of Celina, were conducted Saturday, December 11, 2004, from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Celina.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Jackson County with Bro. Roy Wright officiating.
Mr. Smith died Thursday, December 9 at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. He worked in the construction business with heavy duty equipment and was a member of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Riders Club.
Born October 20, 1956, in Beech Grove, IN, he was the son of Hazel (Allison) Smith Wallace and the late Joe J. Smith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, James H. Wallace.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Serena Teasley Smith; a son, Harley Smith; two daughters, Samantha Russell and Jasmine Smith; a step-son, Nathan Swing; a step-daughter, Katrina Teasley; four sisters, Wilma Dunaway and her husband, Terry, Becky Thomas and her husband, Michael, Melanie Herron and her husband, Billy, and Marty Conard and her husband, Luke; and a grandchild, Anslie Russell.
Pallbearers were Charles Elliott, Donnie Pells, Joe King, Richard Holloway, Ronnie Smith, and David Allison.

ZELA ETHA WHITE
Graveside services for Miss Zela Etha White, 88, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2004, at Good Hope cemetery with Rev. Craig Green officiating.
Miss White died Saturday, December 11 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Livingston.
Born October 6, 1916, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late John Andrew McKinzy and Cory Etha (West) White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Haskell White, Dudley White, Beeland White, and Fred White Sr.; and seven sisters, Caedna Wilmot, Allie Gore, Lillian McBee, Lois White, Elleta Long, Grace Dean Wisdom, and Imogene Copeland.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Lucian Copeland of Livingston; a sister-in-law, Elise White of Livingston; five nephews, Johnny Long of Signal Mountain, Jerry Copeland of Lebanon, Michael Copeland of Cookeville, Fred White Jr. of Algood, and Robert McBee of Hastings, MN; and nine nieces, Nancy Tipps of Lebanon, Vicki Stevens of Livingston, Cheri McConnell of Old Hickory, Faye Pryor and Freida White, both of Algood, Rita McBee and Ann McBee, both of Washington, IA, Sarah Oglesby of Bernardsville, NJ, and Lawson Hubert of Selma, AL.

RAY "DUCK" MACE
Funeral services for Mr. Ray "Duck" Mace, 62, of Watertown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2004, from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown.
Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery with Rev. Danny Tomlinson officiating.
Mr. Mace died Saturday, November 13 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was retired from Tennessee Woolen Mills.
Born October 21, 1942, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Arlin and Della (Hammock) Mace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Mace and Junior Mace; two sisters, Bonnie Mace and Thelma Jean Mace; and a granddaughter, Kayla Capps.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Clarice Mace of Watertown; six children, Kenneth Moss and his wife, Melinda, of Mt. Juliet, Kay Woodard and her husband, Ricky, and Richard Mace, all of Watertown, and Tammy Taylor and her husband, Daryl, Darlene Gipson and Buddy Barnett, and Irene Stafford and her husband, Johnny, all of Lebanon; seven brothers and sisters, Ruth Dillon, Velma Cox, Lonnie Mace, and Norma Hamilton, all of Hilham, Bill Mace of Cookeville, Linda Sevier of Brush Creek, and Jennie Sevier of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Jessica Mace, Richard Woodard Jr., Ray Woodard, Donovan Woodard, Jason Taylor, Tony Taylor, Rachel Gipson, and Rachel Barnett; and six great grandchildren.

RAY ENSOR SWALLOWS
Mr. Ray Ensor Swallows, 87, of the Dodson Chapel community in Overton County, passed away at Livingston Regional Hospital on Tuesday, November 9, 2004, following a brief illness.
He was born June 15, 1917, to the late Frank and Mary (Gibbons) Swallows. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eva (Neal) Swallows; and his daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Donnie Stover of the Dodson Chapel community and Sandra and Jim Elliott of Oliver Springs. He is also survived by his grandchildren and their spouses, Donita (Stover) and Don Burnett of Livingston, Caryn (Stover) and Jeff Robichaud of Algood, Lisa (Elliott) and Kenny Powell of Clinton, and Kevin Elliott of Oliver Springs; and his great grandchildren, Brad and Ashley Powell and Austin Powell, all of Clinton, Hunter Burnett of Livingston, Jordan Monger and Sierra Elliott, both of Oliver Springs, and Morgan Robichaud of Algood.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Roy Frank; and his sister, Eva Mae.
Ray was an active member of Dodson Chapel United Methodist Church since 1931, where he served as a trustee and Sunday School teacher for many years.
He served with the United States Army in Europe during World War II, and was a member of VFW James T. Davis Post 5062, where he proudly served as a member of their Honor Guard. In 1998, he was honored to participate in a memorial service at Arlington National cemetery for a fallen comrade, and wore his original WWII uniform.
He was known as "Mr. Swallows" for 27 years to his students at Rickman High School, and was named Tennessee's Biology Teacher of the Year in 1967. He was class sponsor at the school for many years, and enjoyed accompanying many groups of students on their senior trip to Washington, DC.
His hobbies over the years were playing guitar, spelunking, woodworking, and carving. In the past several years, he especially enjoyed giving carved mushrooms to friends and acquaintances. A very special activity for him was speaking to students in schools about patriotism.
A celebration service of his life was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2004, at Dodson Chapel United Methodist Church, with interment following in the church cemetery. Rev. Jackie Wheeler officiated the service, and music was provided by his former students, The Webb Sisters: Geraldine (Webb) Garrett, Wyndoline (Webb) Farris, Betty (Webb) Owens, Marsha (Webb) Eldridge, and Sharon (Webb) Sevier.
Pallbearers were Hunter Burnett, Sam Gibbons, Howard Anderson, Randy Dodson, Jim Means, and Kenneth Dodson.
The Rickman High School Class of 1960 served as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dodson Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, America Cancer Society, and American Heart Association.

ARVIN LANCE PIGG
Funeral services for Mr. Arvin Lance Pigg, 78, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Maxwell Chapel cemetery with Bro. Dewey Glenn Masters and Bro. Tom Greenwood officiating.
Mr. Pigg died Monday, September 15 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was a farmer, a school bus driver, and a janitor. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. Born February 21, 1925, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Hubert and Ella (Ayers) Pigg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Barlow; and two grandchildren, Dustin Pigg and Crystal Huddleston.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Jean Pigg of Hilham; six sons, Kenny Pigg, Frank Pigg, David Pigg, Donald Pigg, and Jerry Pigg, all of Hilham, and Clifton Pigg of Livingston; two daughters, Elaine Daniels of Monroe and Pam Huddleston of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Lear Pigg of Cookeville; two sisters, Joliet Scrimager of Memphis and Lois McDonald of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Edd Long, Jason Daniels, Allen Shelton, Terry Melton, Ray Austin, and Brad Edens.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Terry Pigg, Johnnie Pigg, Jacob Daniels, Jake Pigg, Charlie Huddleston, Dustin Pigg, Billy Joe Maxwell, and Robert Boles.

WILLIE EUGENE BROWN
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Eugene Brown, 73, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Shannon Copeland officiating.
Mr. Brown died Wednesday, April 2 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was an auto factory worker and of the Baptist faith.
Born July 4, 1929, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Curtis and Mable (Bowman) Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kelly Brown; and a grandson, Phillip Branch.
Survivors include his wife, Zula Brown of Cookeville; two daughters, Judy Cantrell of Crossville and Betty Branch of Springfield; two brothers, Rosco Brown of Tip City, OH, M.C. Brown of Livingston, and Bob Brown of Monroe; two sisters, Reba Cantrell of the Three Forks Community and Roena Phillips of the Hanging Limb Community; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

CHARLYNE HAWKINS DAWS
Funeral services for Mrs. Charlyne Hawkins Daws, 66, of Goodlettsville, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.
Mrs. Daws died Saturday, April 5 at her home. She was an analyst for Motorola Corporation and a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Livingston.
Born October 13, 1936, in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Stephenson and Myrtle Mae (Ludwick) Stephenson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Hawkins Jr.; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Hawkins of Goodlettsville; three daughters, Marlena Linder of Livingston, Ginger Ridgaway of Fayetteville, and Sonita Stewart of Joelton; a sister, Margie Menard of Florida; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

ROSIE MAE (HOOVER) DIXON
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosie Mae (Hoover) Dixon, 95, of Holly, MI, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2004, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.
Burial was in Cedar Chapel cemetery with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Mrs. Dixon died Saturday, September 25 at Holly Convalescent Center in Michigan. She was a homemaker.
Born September 7, 1909, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Kurt and Dolly Hoover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dixon.
Survivors include two sons, Clarence Dixon Jr., of Fenton, MI, and Clyde Dixon of St. Joseph, MI; a brother, Lon Hoover of Hanging Limb; four grandchildren, Cole Dixon, Paul Dixon, David Dixon, and Helen Dixon; and two great grandchildren, Issabella and Eva.

SAMMYE LAN (MCCORMICK) GOODPASTURE
Funeral services for Mrs. Sammye Lan (McCormick) Goodpasture, 89, of Livingston, were conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goodpasture died Tuesday, September 28 at Masters Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Livingston Church of Christ.
Born February 8, 1915, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Ninnie (Draper) McCormick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Goodpasture; two sisters, Christine Winningham and Rose McCormick; a brother, Chapin McCormick; and a granddaughter, Lori Ann Goodpasture.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin Goodpasture and his wife, Patricia, of Cookeville, and Bill Goodpasture and his wife, Janice, of Huntingdon; a sister, Anna Lamons of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Russell Shawn Goodpasture of Cookeville, Karise Cheatham and her husband, Terry, of Hendersonville, and Melanee Bandy and her husband, Bobby, of Nashville; and five great grandchildren, Max Goodpasture, Taylor Britt Cheatham, Robert Walker Cheatham, Keri Kennedy Cheatham, and Elijah Luke Bandy.
