NANCY LOUISE RAMSEY
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Louise Ramsey, 63, of Watertown, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Poplar Springs cemetery with Bro. H.S. Brown officiating.

Mrs. Ramsey died Monday, May 19 at her home. She was a cook, a waitress, and of the Baptist faith.

Born January 2, 1940, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Eva Dean Matthews and step-father, Millard Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William "CurlyÓ Langford; three sons, Johnny Ugene, Dewayne Boles, and Bruce Langford; and a daughter, Lucy Langford.

Survivors include her husband, Harold G. Ramsey of Watertown; a son, Edward Claude Langford; a step-son, Mitchell Ramsey of Hilham; three daughters, Elaine Hammock of Hilham, Willa Himes of Watertown, and Katherine Evitts of Millersville; three brothers, John Matthews of Smyrna, James William Matthews of Livingston, and Charles Matthews of West Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Virginia Scantland of Gainesboro; seven granchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Todd Matthews, John Garrett, Doyle Langford, Roger Langford, Bryan Matthews, and Daniel Hammock.

ALLARD HERSHEL SMITH
Funeral services for Mr. Allard Hershel Smith, 83, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in Wirmingham cemetery with Bro. Donald Bowman and Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating.

Mr. Smith died Saturday, May 17 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired truck driver, a rock quarry employee, and a member of Wirmingham Church of Christ.

Born November 15, 1919, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Floyd Allard and Nova Gray (Daniels) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Junior Smith and Dinzle Smith; a sister, Beatrice Rovani; and a granddaughter, Lisa Davidson.

Survivors include his wife, Bonza (Bowman) Smith of Monroe; two daughters, Stella Holly of Baxley, GA, and Portia Grissom and husband, Tom, of Algood; a son, Hershel Smith and wife, Betty, of Monroe; two sisters, Cleatrice Wehrli and husband, Leonard, of Philadelphia, PA, and Alfrieda Smith of Monroe; three brothers, Lonzo Smith and wife, Linda, and Bethel Smith and wife, Emogene, all of Monroe, and R.D. Smith and wife, Cathy, of Brownsville, NJ; 5 grandchildren; 10 great granchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Pallbearers were Gary Smith, Ronnie Smith, Randy Smith, Billy Smith, Charles Ray Smith, and Tom Grissom.

HEDDIE E. SMITH
Funeral services for Miss Heddie E. Smith, 99, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Red Hill cemetery with Rev. Larry Thomas officiating.

Miss. Smith died Saturday, May 24 at Overton County Nursing Home. She worked at Firestone Tire in Akron, OH, and was a former owner of East Port Boat Dock on Dale Hollow Lake. She was of the Methodist faith, and she also served in the United States Army.

Born February 14, 1904, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Nellie Maria (McKnight) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Howard Smith, Harold Smith, Bill Smith, J.T. Smith, Ken Solek, and Sam Masters.

JOHN R. "BUD" ALLRED
Funeral services for Mr. John R. "Bud" Allred, 74, of Dayton, OH, were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2003, from the chapel of Tobias Funeral Home. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Gardens with Rev. Edith Brooks and speaker Windy Kesson officiating.

Mr. Allred died Sunday, May 11 at Hospice of Dayton. He retired from General Motors after 39 years of service and attended Xenia Christian Center. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the American Legion Post 763, and a former member of VFW Post 8312.

Born June 30, 1928, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Lillie Allred. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.

Survivors include a sister, Nena Behnken of Xenia, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and very close friends.

Pallbearers were Kenny Thorp, Thomas Thorp, John Cluff, Buddy Bartlett, A.J. Behnken, and Jamie Kessen.

LOU ALLIE DALE
Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Allie Dale, 87, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Holly Springs cemetery with Bro. Billy Hawkins officiating.

Mrs. Dale died Tuesday, May 13 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.

Born December 4, 1915, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ella (Kendall) Neely. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dale; three sisters; and a brother.

Survivors include a son, Fred Rich of Alabama; a daughter, Reba Dale and husband, Willie H., of Livingston; a brother, Sam Neely of Livingston; a sister, Claudia Ogletree of Livingston; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Charlie Fox, Glenn Hazard, Richard Sager, Gerald Ferrill, Jimmy Ferrill, and Danny Ferrill.

TRACY KENNETH FERRELL
Funeral services for Mr. Tracy Kenneth Ferrell, 85, of Sparta and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Williams officiating.

Mr. Ferrell died Friday, May 16 at White County Hospital in Sparta. He was a farmer, a member of MartinÕs Chapel United Methodist Church, and a United States Army veteran of World War II.

Born February 12, 1918, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John Hardy and Sula Belle (Ramsey) Ferrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Bilbrey) Ferrell; four sisters, Juanita (Ferrell) Harris, Tina (Ferrell) Bilbrey, Auda (Ferrell) Looper, and Dean Ferrell; and eight brothers, Clyce Ferrell, Ward Ferrell, Travis Ferrell, Truman Ferrell, Vanis Ferrell, Doyle Ferrell, Carlis Ferrell, and Mitchell Ferrell.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth Coleman of Livingston; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Pallbearers were Ronald Harris, Donald Harris, Frankie Harris, Randall Harris, Jerry Harris, Junior Harris, and Randolph Harris.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Joe Harris, Johnny Harris, and Royce Harris.

OVA OLENE SAVAGE HENRY
Funeral services for Mrs. Ova Olene Savage Henry, 81, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Holly Springs cemetery with Bro. Marlon Winningham, Tom Greenwood, and Billy Burchett officiating.

Mrs. Henry died Thursday, May 15 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a garment factory worker, a homemaker, and a member of Holly Springs Church of Christ.

Born August 19, 1921, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Early Erman and Susan Annie (Harville) Allred. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Alfred Savage and S.T. Henry; three sisters; a brother; and two grandsons.

Survivors include five sons, Oather Savage and wife, Joyce, Avery Savage and wife, Darlene, Jerry Savage and wife, Brenda, and Danny Savage and wife, Brenda, all of Livingston, and Paul Savage and wife, Inez, of Franklin, OH; two step-sons, Gene Henry of Monterey and Terry Henry of Livingston; two step-daughters, Doris Bohannon and Elaine Leathgo, both of Cookeville; a sister, Elsie Pennington of Sparta; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Savage, Doug Savage, Brandon Savage, Roger Savage, Donald Savage, Sherman Savage, Tim Savage, Chris Savage, Wayne Savage, and Mike Savage.

BOBBIE JEAN (WILSON) LEFFEW
Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbie Jean (Wilson) Leffew, 68, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in Freedonia cemetery with Bro. David Moore and Bro. Billy England officiating.

Mrs. Leffew died Monday, April 28 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a factory worker and a member of Freedonia Community Church. She also attended Christ Chapel Church.

Born August 5, 1934, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late M.C. and Allie May (Evans) Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie E. Wilson.

Survivors include her husband, Dawson Leffew of Livingston; a daughter and a son-in-law, Shelia Padgett King and husband, Larry E., of Rickman; a step-son, James Lee Leffew and wife, Lisa, of Livingston; a sister, Ruby Ann Barnes of Livingston; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; special nephews, Jackie Wilson, Jerry Wilson, and Ron Barnes; special cousins, Nannie Mae Ledford and Wilma York, both of Livingston; special friends, Mildred Sullivan and Lorriane Vaughn, both of Livingston; and other cousins and family.

Pallbearers were Kevin Vaughn, Ron Barnes, Jerry Wilson, Jackie Wilson, Roger Wright, Rick Brown, and Bobby Miller.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were James Leffew, Steven Leffew, J. D. Leffew, Larry King, Mike Frizzell, Bruce Ledford, John Ledford, and Jessie Norfleet.

ANTHONY B. COFFMAN
Funeral services for Mr. Anthony B. Coffman, 53, of Hilham, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Maxwell Chapel cemetery with Rev. Tim Sharp and Rev. Fred Hawkins officiating.

Mr. Coffman died Thursday, January 22 at his home. He was the owner and sales representative of United Appliance in Cookeville and a member of Maxwell Chapel Church of God.

Born January 17, 1951, in Jackson County, he was the son of Donald "Sil" and Edwina (Brown) Coffman of Hilham.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Sue Coffman of Cookeville; a son, Clay Phillips of Baxter; two daughters, Misty Gentry of Timothy and Alisha Coffman of Nashville; a brother, David Coffman of Hilham; a grandchild, Tori Phillips of Baxter; two nephews, Jason Coffman and Joshua Coffman, both of Hilham; and a great nephew, Hunter Coffman of Hilham.

Pallbearers were Earl Loftis, Larry Geesling, Brandon Geesling, Josh Coffman, Gerald Peterman, Jason Coffman, and Robert Ramsey.

NANCY ELIZABETH COOK
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Cook, 62, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville.

Bro. Roger Anderson officiated.

Mrs. Cook died Tuesday, January 20 at her home. She was a homemaker.

Born May 1, 1941, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Connie (Shipley) Lupo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lupo.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Cook of Cookeville; her mother-in-law, Litta Mae Cook of Cookeville; her daughter, Aprille Cook and her boyfriend, Robert Wade, both of Cookeville; two sons, William Stonehouse and his wife, Cathy, of Clinton Township, MI, and Frank Stonehouse of Zacateatus, Mexico; a sister, Sharon Dohn of Roseville, MI; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Judy Webb of Garden City, MI; two grandchildren, William Stonehouse III and Sarah Stonehouse; and a host a nieces and nephews.

TALMAGE PHILLIPS
Masonic memorial services for Rev. Talmage Phillips, 73, of the Hanging Limb Community of Overton County, were conducted by Green Pond Lodge 703 at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004, from the chapel of Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 23 at Horner Funeral Home.

Burial was in Hanging Limb cemetery with Rev. Kevin Phillips and Rev. Billy England officiating.

Rev. Phillips died Tuesday, January 20 at Standing Stone Care and Rehab Center in Monterey. He had been a minister since he was 18 years-old and served several area Freewill Baptist churches. He founded the 25th Street Freewill Baptist Church in Anderson, IN, which was the first Freewill Baptist Church in that state.

He sang with the Talmage Phillips Singers for more than 50 years, was active in the Crawford Community, and was one of the founders of Hanging Limb Community Center.

Rev. Phillips was a former road superintendent with Overton County Highway Department and was a retired staff member of Horner Funeral Home.

He was an active member of Green Pond Masonic Lodge 703 Free and Accepted Masons for more than 50 years. He was instrumental in organizing Green Pond Eastern Star Chapter 482 in 1967 and had been active for more than 36 years, serving as Worthy Patron several terms.

Born January 25, 1930, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Perry Phillips and Ruby (Vaughn) Phillips Harville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Ray Phillips; two brothers, Jimmy Harville and Johnny Harville; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Phillips and Carrol Harville; and a brother-in-law, Floyd Pierce.

Survivors include his wife of more than 55 years, whom he married on August 7, 1948, in Rossville, GA, Bonnie Phillips; a son, Dewayne Phillips and his wife, Sandy, of Hanging Limb; two daughters, Delene Pickering and her husband, Dwayne, and Delaine Morton, all of Cookeville; his step-mother, Elo Phillips of Monterey; six brothers, David Phillips and his wife, Joyce, of Monterey, Terry Phillips of Livingston, Danny Phillips and his wife, Margie, of Rickman, Bee Harville, Dee Harville, and Cee Harville and his wife, Wanda, all of Monterey; nine sisters, Jo Anna Looper and her husband, Jennings, of Clarkrange, Jeanette Phipps and her husband, Bobby, Jearldean McPhail and her husband, Bill, Bonnie Dial and her husband, Ed, Becky Phillips and her husband, Jerry, all of Monterey, Jean MacAbee and her husband, Howard, of Old Hickory, Dean Odom and her husband, Monroe, of Erin, Georgia Slagle and her husband, Roger, of Crossville, and Wanda Pierce of Monterey; four grandchildren, Tamara Julian and her husband, Shawn, of Cookeville, Tiffany Caldwell and her husband, Scott, of Crawford, Chastity Morton, and Ashley Morton, both of Greenville; five step-grandchildren, Jason Pickering, Jeremy Pickering, Lora Pickering, Rebecca Reed, and Ashley Smith; three great grandchildren, Peyton Caldwell, Paige Caldwell, and Alexis Caldwell; five step-great grandchildren, Josh Reed, Matthew Reed, Adriana Stover, Abby Julian, and Libby Julian; a brother-in-law, Glen Phillips of Livingston; and a special aunt, Eliza Phillips of Monterey.

Rev. Phillips' family and friends served as pallbearers.
