Funeral services for Mr. James Cullom Upchurch, 28, of Nashville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home.
Burial was in Upchurch cemetery in Fentress County with Bro. Eddie Hargis officiating.
Mr. Upchurch died Monday, July 19 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Born August 1, 1975, in Livingston, he was the son of Jimmy and Judy (McCann) Upchurch of Livingston. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jamie Upchurch and Christopher Upchurch; and his grandparents, Cullom and Rellie Upchurch and Clarence and Sarah McCann.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister, Glennis Allred of Alpine; a niece, Tammy Allred; an uncle, Joey McCann of Jamestown; two aunts, Roxie McCann and Alice Garrett, both of Jamestown; and special great aunt, Marie Turner of Jamestown.
Pallbearers were Gerald Allred, Clinton Allred, Donald Presley, Keith Linder, Robert Sullivan, Joey McCann, Jeremy McCann, Joe McCann, and Eddie McCann.

WILLIAM EARL UPCHURCH
Funeral services for Mr. William Earl Upchurch, 77, of Livingston were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.
Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Bro. Jeff Monday officiating.
Mr. Upchurch died Friday, July 23 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired general laborer, served in the United States Army, and was of the Baptist faith.
Born August 15, 1926, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Sam and Ermine (Dishman) Upchurch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Earl Wayne Upchurch; two brothers, Fred Upchurch and Cletus Upchurch; and four sisters, Nova Coffman, Ruby Davis, Pauline Gilpatrick, and Edith Ray.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Grace (Moss) Upchurch of Livingston; a daughter, Jean Stamps and her husband, Ricky, of Livingston; a son, William Edward Upchurch of Livingston; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Jason Swallows, Anthony Hayes, Michael Hayes, Dewayne Upchurch, Darrell Sidwell, Tommy Carr, Mike Handy, and J.T. Hayes.

STANLEY HOWARD SMITH
Funeral services for Mr. Stanley Howard Smith, 47, of the Timothy Community, were conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Keen cemetery with Bro. David Hemphill officiating.
Mr. Smith died Sunday, July 11 at Meharry Medical Center in Nashville. He was a factory worker and was of the Church of Christ faith.
Born July 27, 1956, in Clay County, he was the son of Jean (Jones) Smith Verble of Algood and the late Jimmy B. Smith.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Michele (Smith) Ray of the Timothy Community; two brothers, Jimmy Robert Smith of Sparta and Randall Edward Smith of Livingston; a sister, Sandra Malin of Cookeville; a grandson, Luke Ray of the Timothy Community; a niece, Amy Carr; the mother of his daughter, Vicky (Key) Smith of the Timothy Community; and several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Nathan Carr, David Malin, David Green, Jack Sidwell, Coy Nation, and Johnny Ledbetter.

WILBUR ORAL WRIGHT
Funeral services for Mr. Wilbur Oral Wright, 77, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Nolan Cantrell officiating.
Mr. Wright died Tuesday, July 6 in Roseville, CA. He was an elementary school teacher for 39 years, a member of Level Park Baptist Church in Battle Creek, MI, and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Born February 4, 1927, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Sherman B. and Marchie F. (Worley) Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Inez (Norris) Wright; and a brother, Dorbet Wright.
Survivors include a son, Edward Wright and his wife, Kathy, of Rocklin, CA; and two grandchildren, Sara Naomi Wright and Jacob Luke Wright.

SIERRA SKIE FRY
Funeral services for Miss Sierra Skie Fry, 2, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Miss Fry died Monday, June 5 at Vanderbilt Hospital.
Born December 29, 2001, in Davidson County, she was the daughter of Donald Wayne Fry of Nashville and Corona Marie Scott and Jody Shelton of Livingston.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her grandparents, Rita and Brad Cushing of Livingston, Weldon Scott of North Carolina, Connie Fry and Ron Hammons of Bearstown, IL, and Brenda and Billy Shelton of Nashville; a brother, Gabriel Fry of Nashville; a step-brother, Joseph Shelton of Nashville; a step-sister, Brittany Shelton of Livingston; her godparents, Lori and Marvin Dehart; aunts and uncles, Melissa Muller, Serena Kremenak, Priscilla Linder, James Cushing, George Cushing, Rick Fry, Jay Fry, Kay Jones, Brian Westrope, and Raymond Westrope; and cousins, Ashley Muller, Austin Muller, Hunter Kremenak, Zack Kremenak, Jessica Linder, Parker Linder, Autumn Cushing, Dylon Cushing, Jade Cushing, James Cushing, and Blake Cushing.

ERNAL (LEDBETTER) GORE
Funeral services for Mrs. Ernal (Ledbetter) Gore, 95, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery with Rev. Ronald Whited officiating.
Mrs. Gore died Tuesday, June 8 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a retired clerk for Holman's Store and for Save the Children Thrift Store. She was also a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and an active member of the Democratic Party.
Born March 31, 1909, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Minnie (West) Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Gore; two children; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Lucas Oliver, Davis Maxwell, Randy Goodman, Kenny Murphy, David Ledbetter, and Lynn King.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were L.G. Puckett Jr., Gary Maxwell, Lee Maxwell, and Graham Goodman.

DOUGLAS "TOOTIE" KNIGHT
Funeral services for Mr. Douglas "Tootie" Knight, 61, of Rickman, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2004, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home.
Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Mike Ledbetter officiating.
Mr. Knight died Tuesday, June 8 at his home.
Born September 23, 1942, in Gainesboro, he was the son of the late Homer and Leonda (Jackson) Knight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mable Allen, Linnie Langford, and Ora Smallwood; and six brothers, Claude Knight, Carson Knight, James Knight, Birdle Knight, Bill Knight, and Carl Knight.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Knight of Rickman; three sons, Mark Knight, Terry Knight, and Jerry Knight, all of Dayton, OH; a step-son, Jimmie Riggins of Rickman; three step-daughters, Kristi Thurman of Rickman, Renee Purtule of The Colony, TX, and Roxanne Fugate of Dayton; two brothers, Bobby Joe Knight of Gainesboro and Edward Knight of Dayton; 10 grandchildren; and 4 step-grandchildren.
Mr. Knight's nephews served as pallbearers.

ERBIN PHILLIPS
Funeral services for Mr. Erbin Phillips, 92, of Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.
Burial was in Weeks cemetery in the Muddy Pond Community with Rev. Mike Kirby and Rev. A.J. Looper officiating.
Mr. Phillips died Wednesday, June 9 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. He was a mechanic, a retired bus driver with Overton County School System, and a member of Union B Freewill Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Born September 15, 1911, in Overton County, he was the son of the late C. Dibrel and Dora Lee (Miller) Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roenia Hassler Phillips; an infant son, Willie Phillips; six sisters, Lola Hassler, Erma Bilbrey, Ova Bilbrey, Erma Ford, Avie Bilbrey, and Evie Phillips; and six brothers, Mayford Phillips, Arlie Phillips, Verlie Phillips, John D. Phillips, Barness Phillips, and Ethridge Phillips.
Survivors include two daughters, Jewell Melton and Lilly McCowan, both of Monterey; two sons, Everett Phillips of Monterey and Elvie D. Phillips of Muddy Pond; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.

WILLIE ARNOLD SMITH

Mr. Smith died Sunday, June 6 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was retired from Standing Stone State Park and was a United States Army veteran.
Born December 29, 1927, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Sanford and Lola (Chilton) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ida Faye Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Mae (Pierce) Smith of Allons; three daughters, Donna Etheredge and her husband, Dennis, of Rickman, Pam Dillon and her husband, David, of Cookeville, and Melissa Greenwood and her husband, Gary, of Allons; four brothers, Paul Glen Smith and Durell Smith, both of Cookeville, Huell Smith of Rickman, and Lecile Smith of Nashville; three grandchildren; a great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

DELPHA DAILEY
Funeral services for Mrs. Delpha Dailey, 85, of

Mrs. Dailey died Sunday, Aug. 3 at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. She was a housewife and was of the Church of Christ faith.
Born May 22, 1918, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Cora Edna (George) Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Dailey.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Dailey of Celina and Carlos Dailey of Sparta; four daughters, Mary Ellis, Vertie Dailey, and Mildred Short, all of Celina, and Hallie Burchett of Sparta; eight grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Graveside services for Mr. Roy C. Daniel, 87, of the Willow Grove Community, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, from the St. John's cemetery with Bro. Ronnie Parsons officiating.
Mr. Daniel died Saturday, Aug. 9 at Overton County Nursing Home.
Born August 20, 1916, he was the son of the late Jufus and Ruthie Daniel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Daniel; a brother, Earnest Daniel; and a sister, Veachel Daniel.
Survivors include three sons, John Daniels of Allons, Tony Daniels of Celina, and William "Bill" Daniels of Livingston; a daughter, Virginia Bilbrey of Allons; a brother, J.P. Daniel of Missouri; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Hummel, Hollis Thrasher, Becky Daniels, Crystal Green, Dalton Daniels, Karah Daniels, Farrah Wood, and Tara Wood; and a great grandchild, Niki Hummel.
