Funeral services for Mr. Buddy Roger Beaty, 73, of Sparta, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.
Burial was in Welch Memorial cemetery with Bro. Jack Honeycutt officiating.
Mr. Beaty died Wednesday, June 30 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a coal miner for more than 33 years, working in Monterey and Middlesboro, KY.
Born March 25, 1931, in Monterey, he was the son of the late Ernest Beaty and Janie (Randolph) Beaty Clark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Arleva Beaty; a son, Jackie Edward Beaty; a sister, Janie Ernestine Beaty; and a brother, Charles Ernest Beaty.
Survivors include a daughter, Jenny Marie Phillips and her husband, Albert Paul, of Jamestown; two sons, Roger Beaty and his wife, Rhonda, of Acworth, GA, and Buddy Randall Beaty of Sparta; a sister, Mary Judd and her husband, Ray, of Monterey; a brother, Bradley Beaty of Owensboro, KY; a half-sister, Tina Shelton of Lexington, NC; an uncle, Joe Randolph of Monterey; six grandchildren; special family friend and caregiver, Jannett Stout of Owensboro, KY; and a special friend and brother-in-law, Jamie Brooks of Sparta.

IVA JEAN DISHMAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Iva Jean Dishman, 70, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bud Hargis and Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.
Mrs. Dishman died Thursday, July 1 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a housewife and a member of Fairview Freewill Baptist Church.
Born April 30, 1934, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Louvell (Jackson) Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Rocky Dishman; and a nephew, Randall Martin.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Dishman of Livingston; three sons, Junior Dishman and Jimmy Dishman, both of Livingston, and Kenny Dishman of Rickman; two daughters, Sue Dixon and Gail Dixon, both of Livingston; a brother, Donnie Phillips of Cookeville; two sisters, Elise Martin of Monterey and Betty Roberts of Michigan; nine grandchildren, Amanda Barnes, Brian Dixon, Kevin Dishman, Shannon Dishman, Wayne Dishman, Christopher Dishman, Jacob Dishman, Derick Dishman, and Jeremy Dishman; and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Anthony Roberts, Ronnie Dixon, Charles Dishman, Brad Short, Doug Parsons, Tom Davidson, Paul Sharp, and Billy Jackson. Johnny Ray Arney served as honorary pallbearer.

ROY LEE JOHNSON
Masonic services for Mr. Roy Lee Johnson, 72, of Livingston, were held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, from Memorial Baptist Church in Livingston.
Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Rev. Bob Vickers and Rev. Nolan Cantrell officiating.
Mr. Johnson died Friday, June 25 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a furniture factory worker, a member and deacon of Memorial Baptist Church, and a veteran of the United States Army. He was also a member of West Fork Masonic Lodge 648 and Eastern Star Chapter 206.
Born November 25, 1931, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Willie and Mary (Winningham) Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Johnson; a daughter, Rebecca Lea Johnson; two sisters, Magalene Meadows and Olene Clark; and a half-brother.
Survivors include his wife, Joanna (Norris) Johnson of Livingston; a brother, Billy D. Johnson of Algood; two sisters, Pauline (Young) Buck of Monroe and Kathleen Johnson of Byrdstown; and a half-sister, Judy Johnson of Burkesville, KY.
Pallbearers were Gary Young, Nolan Clark, Larry Johnson, Darrell Norris, Kevin Norris, and Jonathan Norris.

FLORENCE E. LEDBETTER
Funeral services for Mrs. Florence E. Ledbetter, 86, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Liberty cemetery with Bro. Donnie Bull officiating.
Mrs. Ledbetter died Saturday, July 3 at Master's Health Care in Algood. She worked in a jacket factory and was a member of the House of Faith. Born October 14, 1917, in Ennis, TX, she was the daughter of the late John and Ocie Mae (Manning) Mims. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Kenneth Ledbetter.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Simmons and Mary Keen, both of Crawford; five grandchildren, Kenny Simmons, Billy Houston Simmons, Kimberly Diane Keen, Mary Jo Keen, and Timmey Maxey Keen; and 11 great grandchildren.

CARL H. MOFIELD JR.
Mr. Carl H. Mofield Jr., 72, of San Rafael, CA, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, following open heart surgery.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Mofield, and his parents, Carl Mofield Sr. and Margaret Rowland Mofield.
Born in Kentucky, he lived in Livingston as a child, and then moved to Florida where he graduated from Florida State University.
He retired in April of this year as a buyer for State Compensation Insurance Fund in San Francisco, CA. He began his long career as a buyer/ purchasing agent with his military service and was employed by Pan American Airlines and Gerber Baby Food Co. in the Bay area prior to his state fund career.
An avid auto racing fan, Mr. Mofield served as San Francisco Region Race Chairman for Sports Car Club of America for more than 20 years. He was a 50 year member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.
He is survived by Judy Howard Jouett of Manchester and several cousins.

Mr. Norrod died Saturday, July 3 at Overton County Nursing Home. He was a farmer and a member of Oak Dale Baptist Church.
Born March 22, 1916, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Grant and Effie (Sells) Norrod. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children; five sisters, Norma Jewel Markus, Willie Davis, Ordean Plunkett, Nola Young, Nova Norrod; and seven brothers, John Hershall Norrod, Jim Norrod, Fate Norrod, Benton Norrod, Herman Norrod, Walter Norrod, and Cordell Norrod.
Survivors include his wife, Cordie Norrod of Monroe; two sons, Kenneth Norrod and his wife, Helen, and Bill Norrod and his wife, Ann, all of Monroe; a daughter, Carolyn Peterman of Livingston; two sisters, Hazel Spaulding and Pauline Garrett, both of LaFayette, IN; five grandchildren, Jeff Norrod and Sherry Blakely, both of Monroe, Shelia Norrod of Cookeville, Wendy Robbins of Georgia, and Billy Jo Norrod of Livingston; and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ramsey died Saturday, July 3 at her home. She worked at ACME Boot Company and was a member of Martin's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Born February 8, 1938, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Verda (Johnson) Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe Francis Carter, David Welman "Bud" Carter, William Rol Carter Jr., and Shirley Eugene Carter.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Ramsey of the Independence Community; two daughters, Vonette Dawn Murphy and her husband, John, of Doyle, and Leila Laraine Roberts of Cookeville; a brother, Hubie Carter of Byrdstown; five sisters, Margaret Dishman of Battle Creek, MI, Robbie Tackett and Josephine Ward, both of Delton, MI, Carlee Bilbrey of the Timothy Community, Josephine Ward of Delton, MI, and Carol Howell of Crossville; grandchildren, John Michael and Melanye Padgett, Brice Murphy and Mary, Laura Joyce and Mike Rivers, Lucas MacDonald, and Kayla Murphy; and five great grandchildren, John Christian Padgett, Crayley Michael Rivers, Caden Van Garrett Padgett, Hayley Morgan Murphy, and Corie Dawn Padgett.

GAIUS ALAN ROSE
Funeral services for Mr. Gaius Alan Rose, 50, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2004, from the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville.
Burial was in Netherland cemetery with Rev. Jeff Monday officiating.
Mr. Rose died Friday, July 2 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was a self-employed truck driver and also drove for Leroy Jones Trucking Company.
Born August 12, 1953, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Roy and Virginia Ruth (Smith) Rose.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Netta (Gaw) Rose of Rickman; a daughter, Kelly Pendergrass and her husband, Sam, of Rickman; a sister, Evelyn Lee and her husband, Randy, of Rickman; and two brothers, Roger Rose and his wife, Barbara, and Robert Rose, all of Rickman.

IRENE (PARRIS) ELDER
Funeral services for Mrs. Irene (Parris) Elder, 91, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2003, from the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home in Byrdstown.
Burial was in Lovelady-Sims cemetery with Bro. Dickie Hinton and Bro. Rick Cross officiating.
Mrs. Elder died Wednesday, November 19 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved teaching, being active in her church, and participating in educational and community events.
She loved teaching and continues to be fondly remembered by her students. Irene was a strong-willed but humble woman who treated everyone with respect and dignity.
She was also a kind and generous person throughout her life. She was a retired teacher with 29 years of service to the Pickett County schools. Over the years, she acted as both president and secretary of the Pickett County Retired Teacher's Educational Association. Active in her church, she taught Sunday School for years and acted as both president and secretary of the Christian Woman's Fellowship.
Born January 29, 1912, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Seber Parris and Emma (Young) Parris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Ward Elder; and her infant twins.
Survivors include two daughters, Vivian (Elder) Edwards of Byrdstown, Phyllis (Elder) Howden and her husband, William B., of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister, Maggie (Parris) Garrett; five grandchildren, William Ward Edwards, Jane (Edwards) Whitten, Carole Anne Edwards, Katie (Howden) Rienzo, Jackie (Howden) Bazylewicz; and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Doug Elder, Jason Elder, Josh Elder, Fred Elder, William Edwards, and David Whitten.

Mrs. Elrod died Tuesday, November 18 at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville. She was a housewife and of the Church of Christ faith.
Born April 5, 1929, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Edith (Christian) Eldridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilmoth Davis, and her second husband, George Elrod; a son, Charles Edward Davis; two sisters, Dean Warden and Helen McCauley; and a brother, Fowler Eldridge.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Lindsey of Clarksville; two brothers, Ernest Eldridge of Alpine and Harold Eldridge of Livingston; three sisters, Mary Ruth Copeland, Irene Brown, and Myrtle Allred, all of Livingston; a brother-in-law, Edd McCauley of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Collins died Friday, July 11 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a garment factory worker and a member of Freedonia Community Church.
Born August 10, 1921, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Ridley and Ida Mae (Smith) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Collins; and three brothers, Marvin D. Brown, Melvin Brown, and Willie C. Brown.
Survivors include her husband, Willis Collins of Livingston; a sister, Odell Warren of Dayton, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were A.D. Collins, Rick Coleman, Nicholas Coleman, Whitney Coleman, Gordon Copeland, and Mark Speck. Honorary pallbearers were Ronald Dishman and Carlos Perdue.
