Funeral services for Rev. Marion Hancock Jr., 61, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bro. George Nave officiating.
Rev. Hancock died Wednesday, March 5 at Overton County Nursing Home. He was a retired minister and school bus driver, and a member of Livingston Church of God.
Born June 27, 1941, in Jasper, he was the son of the late Marion Hancock Sr. and Reba (Wright) Hancock Hillis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Parrill.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Ledford) Hancock of Livingston; two daughters, Cathey (Hancock) Leverette of Shelbyville and Gail Carr of Cookeville; three sons, Eric Hancock and Lynn Hancock, both of Cookeville, and Paul Hancock of Gainesboro; three step-daughters, Kathy Cross of Monroe and Sherra Garrett and Tammy White, both of Livingston; three sisters, Shirley Fordham, Ruby Burton, and Bessie Adams, all of Shelbyville; a brother, John Hancock of Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Pallbearers were Wayne Adams, Randy Hancock, Earl Maddux, Jeremy Leverette, Lonnie Leverette, and Michael Leverette.

LEONARD HOWARD
Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Howard, 51, of the Anderson Community near Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey. Burial was in Campground cemetery in Clarkrange with Rev. Billy Joe Hedgecough and Rev. Delmer McCowan officiating.
Mr. Howard died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. He was a farmer and a member of Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
Born April 10, 1951, in Monterey, he was the son of the late Carson and Lillie (Hargis) Howard.
Survivors include five foster brothers, Freddy Williams of Murfreesboro, James Williams of Cookeville, and Lynell Williams, Ralph Williams, and Dale Williams, all of Monterey; an aunt, Flora Bowman of Livingston; an uncle, Odell Hargis of Monterey; and a special friend, Cordell Presley of Monterey.

AUDREY SUE JONES
Graveside services for Mrs. Audrey Sue Jones, 23, of Hilham, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, from the Sylvester Robbins cemetery with Bro. Bobby Gore officiating.
Mrs. Jones died Saturday, March 8 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a grocery store clerk and of the Baptist faith.
Born November 20, 1979, in Fentress County, she was the daughter of Janet (Walker) Padgett and step-daughter of Larry Padgett, both of Livingston. She was preceded in death by a grandmother, Jewel Walker; a grandfather, John Walker; and a step-grandfather, Victor Padgett.
Survivors, in addition to her mother and step-father, include her husband, James Lynn Jones of Hilham; a son, Quinton Jones of Hilham; her step-grandmother, Pauline Padgett of Monroe; a step-sister, Ashley Faye Padgett of Livingston; and several friends and other family members.

WILLIAM CLAUDUS McCORMICK SR.
Graveside services for Mr. William Claudus McCormick Sr., 81, of Knoxville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003 at Overton County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. McCormick died Wednesday, March 5 at NHC Health Care in Knoxville.
Born November 14, 1921, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Walter and Dellas (Peterman) McCormick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cloyce McCormick.
Survivors include his wife, Anna V. McCormick of Knoxville; two sons and daughters-in-law, William C. Jr. and Janice McCormick of Clinton, OH, and Larry A. and Bo-Hyon McCormick of South Carolina; a sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and John West of Rickman; a sister-in-law, Zua McCormick of Livingston; a grandson; a granddaughter; a great grandson; a great granddaughter; and a host of nieces and nephews.

CHARLIE DENTON NEELY
Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Denton Neely, 89, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Ruth Chapel cemetery with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.
Mr. Neely died Wednesday, March 5 at Overton County Nursing Home. He was a farmer, a member of the Ruth Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a member of the American Legion.
Born October 2, 1913, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John and Ethel (Tayse) Neely.
Survivors include two nieces, Louise Linder of Livingston and Jeannie Goodman of Rickman; two nephews, James Neely of Hilham and Kenneth Neely of Livingston; two grandchildren, Tammy Nimmo and Joey Neely; and two great grandchildren, Allison Nimmo and Autumn Nimmo.

ROBERT LYNN OWENS
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lynn Owens, 42, of Algood, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville. Burial was in Paran cemetery with Bro. Bobby Floyd officiating.
Mr. Owens died Wednesday, March 5 in the emergency room of Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a self-employed roofer and a member of House of Prayer Revival Center.
Born December 7, 1960, in Daytona Beach, FL, he was the son of Lola J. (Peek) Owens of Algood and the late Curtis W. "Shorty" Owens.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sons, Robert Lynn Owens Jr. and Christopher Lee Owens, both of Cookeville; a daughter, Tabitha Nichole Garza of New York; four brothers, Johnny Owens, Terry Owens, and Ricky Owens, all of Cookeville, and Mike Owens of Rickman; and a sister, Mary Hunter of Cookeville.
Pallbearers were Daniel Hunter, Josh Owens, Benji Owens, T.J. Owens, Justin Owens, Ray Huddleston, Buddy Garrison, and Wayne Vaughn.

ELIZABETH CORYNNE (BRAZZELL) ARNEY
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Corynne (Brazzell) Arney, 85, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Livingston with Bro. Clarence Daily officiating.
Mrs. Arney died Wednesday, June 23. She grew up in Nashville and graduated from East Nashville High School in 1937. She began attending the (YMCA) Nashville School of Law while a senior in high school and became the youngest woman to have passed the bar in Tennessee.
Mrs. Arney worked for the law firm of Mainer and Crouch and was later appointed by governor Browning to be executive director of the Board of Cosmetology. In 2001, she was among those honored by the Lawyers Association for Women as an early woman in law. After her marriage to Cloyd Lee Arney in 1947 she began a second career as an Air Force officer's wife. In 1978, she and her husband retired to Livingston.
She was also a lifelong Democrat, a member of the Tennessee Lawyers Association of Women, the Livingston Civic and Garden Club, and the Church of Christ.
Born October 4, 1918, in Sumner County, she was the daughter of the late Reuben II and Stella McGinnis Brazzell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Cloyd Lee Arney, and a brother, Harry M. Brazzell.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Sumpter Arney; three nieces, Rebecca Steen, Teresa Ragland, and Elizabeth Nelson; and a nephew, Jon Michael Brazzell.
Pallbearers were Marty Romine, Joshua Ragland, Ronald Steen, Kevin Nelson, Edward Ragland, and Steve Gilpatrick.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Matthew Steen, Dr. Vincent Fromke, Bruce Myers, Chris Miller, Jon M. Brazzell, and Greg Black.
Contributions in her honor may be made to the Corynne Brazzell Arney Scholarship Fund at the Nashville School of Law.

BETTY BEA BEATY
Funeral services for Miss Betty Bea Beaty, 69, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.

Miss Beaty died Sunday, June 20 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Livingston.
Born December 17, 1934, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Milborn Woodrow and Creo (Boles) Beaty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Nell Beaty; and a brother-in-law, Larry Walthall.
Survivors include a sister, Jimmie Walthall of Livingston; two brothers, Bill Beaty of Livingston and Ron "Bud" Beaty and his wife, Margarett, of Minnesota; two aunts, Martha Parsons of Monroe and Lottie Robertson of Nashville; two uncles, Raymond Boles of Pall Mall and Aaron Boles of Dayton, OH; nieces and nephews, Joan Thomas, Cheryl Emery, Stan Walthall, Ken Walthall, Mitch Beaty, Rich Beaty, Ronnie Beaty, and John Beaty; special girls, Gina Coy, Carol Pippin, Shannon Ayers, Sabrina Curd, and Jennifer Drake; and other family members and friends.

IRENE (WOOLBRIGHT) BUSH
Funeral services for Mrs. Irene (Woolbright) Bush, 96, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville.
Burial was in Smyrna cemetery with Bro. Dan Jones and Bro. David Flatt officiating.
Mrs. Bush died Sunday, June 27 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ.
Born November 18, 1907, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Letha (Coomer) Woolbright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Bush Sr; a son, Adrian Bush Jr.; three brothers, Harley Woolbright, Anthony Woolbright, and Samuel Woolbright; and three sisters, Auta Letner, Auda Hammons, and Ella Mae Woolbright.
Survivors include four daughters, Louise Eldridge of Rickman, Doris Robbins and Carolyn Chaffin, both of Cookeville, and Mary Phares of Dothan, AL; a son, James W. Bush of Cookeville; a brother, Haron Woolbright of Laporte, IN; two sisters, Notie Woolbright and Doris Fields, both of Cookeville; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bush's grandsons and great grandsons served as pallbearers.

CARVEL "BUCK" COLSON
Funeral services for Mr. Carvel "Buck" Colson, 88, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville.
Burial was in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating.
Mr. Colson died Friday, June 25 at Masters Health Care Center. He was a carpenter, a brick layer, a United States Army veteran of World War II, and was of the Church of Christ faith.
Born December 4, 1915, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Calvin and Lena (Harvey) Colson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie (Daniels) Colson; and four brothers, Odis Colson, Arvil Colson, Haltie Colson, and Hoy Colson; and four sisters, Mary Lou Colson, Lela Colson, Lillie Sherfield, and Ruby Daniels.
Survivors include four brothers, Grady Colson and his wife, Ruth, of Knoxville, Willie D. Colson of Cookeville, Delton Colson of Charlotte, and O.D. Colson and his wife, Eudean, of Livingston; two sisters, Vela Lee of Livingston and Pauline Thompson of Knoxville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

NYTAREE (GARRETT) HELTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Nytaree (Garrett) Helton, 80, of Davis, CA, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Helton died Saturday, June 12 at Davis. She was a retired elementary school teacher and was of the Methodist faith.
Born December 10, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Lora Garrett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Billie Garrett, Coley Garrett, Joe Garrett, Lewis Garrett, Monty Garrett, and Clyde Garrett; and two sisters, Anna Lee Thompson and Geneva Maynord.
Survivors include a daughter, Leneda Helton of Davis; a brother, Teddy Garrett of Livingston; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Miss Walker died Saturday, June 26 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was associated with Pacesetter's for 7 years.
Born January 9, 1955, in Overton County, she was the daughter of Willene (Edmonds) Walker Kirby of Livingston and the late Dormas Glenn Walker.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her step-father, Robert Kirby of Livingston; a brother, Kenneth Glenn Walker and wife, Shelia, of Livingston; and other family members and friends.
