JAMES LESTER "LECK" SAVAGE
Graveside services for Mr. James Lester "Leck" Savage, 72, of Rickman, were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at Liberty cemetery with Bro. Bernie Barton officiating.
Mr. Savage died Tuesday, October 14 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a mechanic and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Born April 1, 1931, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Gertrude (Ray) Savage. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joanna Savage.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Marla Stevens and her husband, J.D., of Livingston; a step-son, Kenneth Bilbrey and his wife, Linda, of Rickman; two sisters, Judy Franklin and her husband, L.D., of Hilham and Reba West and her husband, James, of Knoxville; a brother, Dillard Savage and his wife, Betty, of Knoxville; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

MARY ALICE WILSON
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Wilson, 77, of Rickman, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2003, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home.
Burial was in Harris Chapel cemetery with Bobby Roberts and Eugene McCowan officiating.
Mrs. Wilson died Tuesday, October 14 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born February 22, 1926, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late George and Rosie (Harris) Presley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ed Wilson, and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include four sons, James Wilson, Fred Wilson, and Donald Wilson, all of Rickman, and Willie Wilson of Cookeville; two daughters, Edith Allen of Celina and Rosie Murray of Livingston; three brothers, M.G. Presley and Elvin Presley, both of Monterey, and Coy Presley of Livingston; and three sisters, Ova Phillips and Ola Phillips, both of Michigan, and Dora Staggs of Rickman.
Pallbearers were Chris Wilson, Josh Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Billy Murray, Roger Allen, and Johnny Allen.

DOROTHY L. VEAL
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy L. Veal, 77, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Moore and Rev. Jeremy Byrd officiating.
Mrs. Veal died Saturday, March 8 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a housewife, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Livingston, and Home Dem and Crafts & Arts clubs. She and Jean Webb started the first Girl Scout troop in Livingston.
Born August 9, 1925, in Bay Minetta, AL, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Ryder) Vines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Veal.
Survivors include a son, Freddy Veal of Charleston, SC; a daughter, Sandy Veal of Charleston; a brother, Ben Vines of Bay Minetta; three sisters, Bea Crysel and Nellie Edna Wallace, both of Bay Minetta, and Rachel Myers of Fairhote, AL; and two grandchildren, Jessica Veal and Melissa Veal.
Pallbearers were Doug Keisling Percy Hill, Peck Smith, Jack Crabtree, Donald George, and Billy Bilbrey. Memorial contributions may be made to Overton County Public Library.

LAURA (DEAN) WRIGHT
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura (Dean) Wright, 79, of Granite, OK, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, from the chapel of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf, OK. Burial was in Granite City cemetery with Bro. Tim Montgomery officiating.
Mrs. Wright died Wednesday, March 5 at Elkview General Hospital in Hobart, OK. Her family was very important to her, she was a devoted mother and friend. She liked caring for and cooking for everyone around her. She made daily phone calls to check on all her friendsŐ welfare.
Born March 10, 1923, in Willow Grove, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Ola Sherfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elsie Jean; two sisters, Lula and Ann; two brothers, Johnny and Kenneth Ray; and a granddaughter, Laura Lee.
Survivors include a son, Charles Glen; a daughter, Helen Marie; a brother, James; a sister, Berty; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia Society.

SARA FORSHEE
Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Forshee, 80, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2003, at Livingston Church of Christ.
Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Bro. Glen Goggins and Bro. Chris Coil officiating.
Mrs. Forshee died Monday, November 10 at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Livingston Church of Christ.
Born February 22, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Dr. W.M. and Ida (Burks) Breeding. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Forshee; and a son, William Jeffrey Forshee.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Forshee of Livingston; a brother, Edward Breeding of Linden; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gary Luton, Jack Glasscock, Ryan Smith, Herman Brady, Matt Brady, and Jeff Upton.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Percy Hill, Brent Gore, David Webb, and Fred Maxwell.

OPAL GLENN (MCCORMICK) LEDBETTER HACKETT
Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Glenn (McCormick) Ledbetter Hackett, 87, of Yardley, PA, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, November 19, 2003, from the chapel of FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home in Yardley.
Burial will be in Newtown cemetery in Newtown, PA.
Mrs. Hackett died Saturday, November 15 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis in Trenton, NJ. She had worked for the Heacock Florist in Lower Makefield, was a retired short order cook for the Toddle House in Trenton and Charcoal Steaks n' Things in Yardley, and later worked at the Yardley Pharmacy.
Mrs. Hackett was then a caregiver for many years to several people. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 6393 in Yardley, and a life member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation.
She loved life and Atlantic City. She was a very active person and will be sadly missed.
Born in Livingston, she was the daughter of the late Shirley Addison and Lillie Mae (Swafford) McCormick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester H. Ledbetter; and her second husband, C. Leroy Hackett.
Survivors include three sons, Addison B. Ledbetter and his wife, Barrie, and Robert E. Ledbetter and his wife, Patricia, all of Langhorne, PA, and Artie Ray Ledbetter and his wife Nancy, of Newtown; a daughter, Anna V. Reed and her husband, Parker, of Levittown, PA; a brother, Floyd McCormick of Nashville; a sister, Ora Lewis of Monroe, MI; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Martha Jean Ashburn
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Jean Ashburn, 65, of Livingston, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ryan Barnhart officiating.
Mrs. Ashburn died Monday, Feb. 17 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a dietary aide at Overton County Nursing Home and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Born December 16, 1937, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Benton and Ivory Pearl (Dubree) Mathis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Pete" Ashburn.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Davis of Alpine; two daughters, Gayle Johnson of Byrdstown and Carol Hogue, of Livingston; a brother, William Mathis of Livingston; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Jonathan Shane Breeding
Funeral services for Mr. Jonathan Shane Breeding, 20, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in Mt. Gilead cemetery with Bro. A.J. Looper and Bro. Rick Dixon officiating.
Mr. Breeding died Wednesday, Feb. 12 in Carthage due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was employed at Performance Food Group in Lebanon.
Born October 15, 1982, in Overton County, he was the son of Lonnie Joe Breeding of Rickman and Janie Sue Breeding of Livingston. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Edith Breeding; and a great grandmother, Zora Boles.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Donna Breeding of Livingston; his grandparents, Pat Breeding of Livingston and Joe and Pearl Breeding of Rickman; a great grandfather, Jimmy Boles of Livingston; step-fathers, Jessie Grasty of Livingston and Johnny Bilbrey of Cookeville; his girlfriend, Kerri Keisling of Livingston; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Dixon, Craig Roach, Chris Keisling, Billy Breeding, Jason Ledbetter, Phillip Murphy, and Brian Murphy.

Bertha Handy
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Handy, 63, of Gordonsville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial was in Oakley cemetery in Rickman with Bro. Bobby Peoples officiating.
Mrs. Handy died Saturday, Feb. 15 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was employed at the former Welch Company in Gordonsville for more than 20 years and attended Bowlings Branch Church of God.
Born March 29, 1939, in the Hanging Limb Community of Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Riley McDonald and Fannie Lou (Harris) Honeycutt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Handy; a son, James Edward Handy; and a grandson, David Allen Handy.
Survivors include seven children, Jim Handy of Gordonsville, Kay Handy of Clarkrange, Donnie Handy and wife Ruby of Defeated Creek, Joyce Cox of Gallatin, Becky Handy of Smithville, Bill Handy and wife Evelyn of Rickman, and Ray Handy and wife Rosie of Lebanon; a sister, Lonnie Alice Vaden of Indiana; and nine grandchildren.

Mary Edith Hargis
Funeral services for Miss Mary Edith Hargis, 78, of Livingston, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Eugene McCowan and Bro. Derek Copeland officiating.
Miss Hargis died Friday, Feb. 14 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired factory worker and affiliated with Livingston First Freewill Baptist Church.
Born August 8, 1924, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Tilbert and Octivia (Bilbrey) Hargis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah Phillips, Cora Swallows, and Lillie Howard; and four brothers, Earnest Hargis, Burton Hargis, Roy Hargis, and Cordell Hargis.
Survivors include a brother, Odell Hargis of Monterey; a sister, Flora Bowman of Livingston; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Herbert Hollars
Funeral services for Rev. Herbert Hollars, 73, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, from Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church in Monterey. Burial was in Welch Memorial cemetery with Rev. David Harris and Rev. Randy Bilbrey officiating.
Bro. Hollars died Monday, Feb. 10 at his home. He was ordained as a Freewill Baptist minister in May 1972 and was serving as assistant pastor at Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church. He founded and pastored the first Vandalia Freewill Baptist Church in Vandalia, OH, from 1971-1973. He had preached in many churches in this area as well as in Dayton, OH. He retired from the Dayton, Ohio City Water Department after 31 years of service and also worked at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville from 1988-2000. He was a Korean Conflict veteran.
Born September 2, 1929, in Wilder, he was the son of the late John and Della (Dailey) Hollars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Buelah Ellis, and a brother, Eugene Hollars.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty (Hanshaw) Hollars of Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Hylan Calvin of Stone Mountain, GA; two sons, Bruce Hollars of Cookeville and Randy Hollars of Murfreesboro; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lilly and Ross Vanderpool of Lancing, Margaret Ledbetter of Monterey, Louise and Don Smith of Wartburg, and Agnes and George Powell of Hamilton, OH; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dooley and Woodrie Hollars of Marion, IN, and Bill and Vivian Hollars of Anderson, IN; and two grandchildren, Shawn Calvin and Alisha Calvin, both of Stone Mountain.
