GERALD Q.L. CARTER
Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Q.L. Carter, 57, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Bethel Cemtery with Bro. Ferrell Looper officiating.
Mr. Carter died Wednesday, January 14 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer.
Born July 19, 1946, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Earl T. and Hattie Ann (Garrett) Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Carter and Larry Carter; and a sister, Wanda Knoblock.
Survivors include his fiancee, Denise Huckeby of Monroe; a son, Gerald T. Carter of Red Boiling Springs; two daughters, Ruth Ann Garrett of Rickman and Michele Lynn Carter of Red Boiling Springs; a brother, Earl D. Carter of Indiana; three sisters, O.C. Bilbrey and Carlene Knoblock, both of Indiana, and Genevie Ramsey of Rickman; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Staggs, Junior Poston, Charles Qualls, Tommy Ramsey, Noel Key, and Bobby Thompson.

GLADYS RAY (DISHMAN) GORE
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Ray (Dishman) Gore, 78, of Hilham, were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.
Burial was in Liberty cemetery with Bro. Ovle Tinch officiating.
Mrs. Gore died Sunday, January 11 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker.
Born July 12, 1925, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Will and Lou Ellen (Bilbrey) Dishman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Gore; an infant son, Dennis Carl Gore; and four brothers, Oscar Dishman, Bethel Dishman, J.T. Dishman, and Fred Hollis Dishman.
Survivors include a daughter, Reba Barlow and her husband, Bruce, of Hilham; three sons, James R. Gore and his wife, Gail, Donald K. Gore and his wife, Vicky, and Clifford D. Gore, all of Hilham; a brother, Herbert W. Dishman of Livingston; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Anthony Barlow, Matthew Barlow, Charles Dishman, Bruce Barlow, Larry Gore, and Steve Dishman.

JAMES ROBERT KILLMON
Funeral services for Mr. James Robert Killmon, 61, of Rickman, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating.
Mr. Killmon died Thursday, January 15 at his home. He was an auto dealer, a member of the VFW, and a member of Livingston Lodge 259. He was also a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Born July 5, 1942, in Clay County, he was the son of Irene (Daily) Killmon of Livingston and the late Domer Killmon.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a son, John Killmon of Livingston; a daughter, Jamie (Killmon) Norris and her husband, Kevin, of Livingston; and a brother, Jerry Killmon of Allons.
Pallbearers were Willie Martin Neely, Dewayne Killmon, Danny Killmon, J.B. Killmon, Mark Staggs, Donald Gray, Reed Gray, and Shirley Gray.

ROBERT DOIS MAYNORD
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Dois Maynord, 71, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.
Burial was in Maynord cemetery with Bro. Randy Maynord and Bro. Eugene McCowan officiating.
Mr. Maynord died Saturday, January 10 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired truck driver and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
Born April 7, 1932, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Vanis and Gracie (Reeder) Maynord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Maynord; two brothers, Dennis Maynord and Demon Maynord; and a granddaughter, Amy Maynord.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Smith) Maynord of Allons; a daughter, Lynn Jolley and her husband, Bert, of Monroe; four sons, Rick Maynord and his wife, Sherry, of Livingston, Ronnie Maynord and his wife, Gail, and Mike Maynord and his wife, Donna, all of Allons, and Eric Maynord and his wife, Elaine, of Gainesboro; a daughter-in-law, June Maynord of Monroe; three sisters, Adarene Lane of Tompkinsville, KY, and Lexie Jones and Naomia Stafford, both of Allons; two brothers, Harold Maynord of Hilham and Doward Maynord of Nashville; 14 grandchildren; a special friend, Brian Harlow; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

WOODROW PIERCE
Funeral services for Mr. Woodrow Pierce, 71, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2004, from the chapel of Brown Funeral Home in Byrdstown.
Burial was in Story cemetery with Bro. Ronnie Brumley, Bro. Charles Jolly, and Bro. Glenn Ledbetter officiating.
Mr. Pierce died Friday, January 16 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a mechanic, a farmer, an electrician, and a plumber. He had also been a member of Bloomington Christian Church since September 1948 and married
Gracie Zachary on December 15, 1951.
Born January 22, 1932, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Posie Anderson and Ida Lou (Gulff) Pierce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Pierce; and a special foster aunt, Mattie Lee Pierce.
Survivors include his wife, Gracie Irene (Zachary) Pierce of Byrdstown; a daughter, Lois Pierce of Byrdstown; a son, Richard W. Pierce of Byrdstown; two sisters, Gwendolyn Clark of Byrdstown and Evelyn Smith of Albany, KY; two brothers, Junior Pierce of Rickman and Billy W. Pierce of Finchville, KY; four nieces; three nephews; cousins; and other family members.
Pallbearers were Roger Goolsby, Junior Stephenson, Eric Pierce, Melvin Zachary, Phillip Zachary, and Mark Reagan.

Timothy Jeffery "Tim" Hunter
Funeral services for Mr. Timothy Jeffery "Tim" Hunter, 42, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, from Livingston First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Halliburton and Dr. Don Ragland officiating.
Mr. Hunter died Wednesday, Feb. 12 at his home. He was an iron worker and affiliated with Livingston First United Methodist Church. He was a member of Local 704 Iron Workers Union and Signal Mt. Masonic Lodge.
Born January 12, 1961, in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late James T. Hunter and Anna Dean (Cole) Padgett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christian Colby Hunter. Survivors include a son, Dakota Hunter of Livingston; and three brothers, Jim Hunter and David Hunter, both of Livingston, and Don Hunter of Ft. Collins, CO.
Pallbearers were Boone Dishman, Talmagene Smith, Lowell Arney, Boone Eldridge, David Carter, and Shirley Gray.

Lerla Jewel Beaty King
Funeral services for Mrs. Lerla Jewel Beaty King, 91, of Gordonsville, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sylvester Robbins cemetery with Rev. Mark Stinett and Rev. Robert Wright officiating.
Mrs. King died Monday, Feb. 17 at her home. She was a housewife and a member of McDonaldÕs Chapel United Methodist Church.
Born March 18, 1911, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late William and Flora (Smith) Reagan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Arter Beaty and Joel Robert King; a sister, Margaret Smith; and a brother, Ray Reagan.
Survivors include six daughters, Betty McDonald and Bonnie King, both of Livingston, Peggy Conatser of Jamestown, Margie Sells of Alpine, Barbara Jean Davenport of Milton, and Sandy June Tubb of Gordonsville; a sister, Lila Reagan Smith; loving friend and caregiver, Christine Loonsfoot; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Alice Faye Looper
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Faye Looper, 58, of the Pleasant Shade Community of Overton County, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Jimmy Dixon and Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.
Mrs. Looper died Sunday, Feb. 16 at St. Thomas Hospital. She was a factory worker and a member of Highland Freewill Baptist Church.
Born July 27, 1944, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Cordell and Otis (Ledbetter) Speck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, A.B. Speck.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Looper of the Pleasant Shade Community; two brothers, Cordell L. Speck of Rickman, and Cecil Speck of Livingston; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Braden and Violet Looper of Anderson, IN, and Ina Speck of Nashville; 12 nieces and nephews; and 28 great nieces and great nephews.

Janice Evelyn Nevins
Funeral services for Mrs. Janice Evelyn Nevins, 69, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Davis cemetery in Pickett County with Rev. Michael Ledbetter officiating.
Mrs. Nevins died Wednesday, Feb. 12 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She worked more than 25 years at Wilson Sporting Goods and was a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church.
Born August 7, 1933, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Eula (Whittenburg) Beaty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Nevins; and two sisters, Louise Price and Elise Beaty.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Nevins of Crossville and Donnie Nevins of Livingston; three brothers, Jake Beaty and H.L. Beaty, both of Byrdstown, and Dorman Beaty of Albany, KY; two sisters, Nola Geiser of Colorado and Ildean Vitatoe of Byrdstown; and three grandchildren, Camdon Nevins, Colton Nevins, and Jordan Nevins.

Cliva Phipps
Funeral services for Mrs. Cliva Phipps, 82, of Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey. Burial was in Wilson cemetery with Rev. Bud Hargis and Rev. Mike Kirby officiating.
Mrs. Phipps died Thursday, Feb. 13 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. She was a homemaker and a member of Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
Born April 1, 1920, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Clora Mae (Vaughn) McCowan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Phipps; two sons, Charles Phipps and Donnie Phipps; three sisters, Evelyn Kirby, Myrtle Wilson, and Noble Melton; and five brothers, Hollie McCowan, Thurston McCowan, James McCowan, Paul McCowan, and Daniel McCowan. Also, Mrs. Phipps son Roy Vernon Phipps passed away the same day as she.
Survivors include four daughters, Elise Beatty of Muddy Pond, and Vida Clark, Diane Phillips, and Sharon Miller, all of Monterey; two brothers, Homer McCowan of Michigan and A.C. McCowan of Monterey; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.

Mr. Phipps died Thursday, Feb. 13 at his home. He was a truck driver.
Born July 14, 1954, in Monterey, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Cliva (McCowan) Phipps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Phipps and Donnie Phipps.

Survivors include a daughter, Reba Reid of Allons; a brother, Ralph Ramsey of Livingston; a sister, Ruth Ramsey of Livingston; two grandchildren, Angela Ray of Cookeville and Tony Ledbetter and wife Joy of San Antonio, TX; and a niece; Gail Ramsey.
