MORROW, Dwight Eugene, age 54 of Huntland died Monday, July 17, 2006 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. He was born in Fayetteville and was a Timberman. Mr. Morrow is survived by two sons, Chris (Terri) Morrow of Elora and Clint Thomas (Melanie) Morrow of Huntland; mother, Elsie Aliene Morrow of Huntland; brother, Tom (Faye) Morrow of Huntland; four sisters, Wanda Boughman of Winchester, Brenda (Joe) Hutto of Nashville, Dianna (Ronnie) Maxwell of Belvidere and Charlotte (Ricky) Holiday of Huntland; five grandchildren, Anthony, T.J., Cameron, Alanna and Braeden Morrow; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 5 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Gardner and Rev. Marion Pope officiating. RAMSEY, Virginia Isabel Harris, age 85 of Hammond, Louisiana, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home after a three-year struggle with cancer. She was born Virginia Isabel Harris on July 2, 1921, in a log cabin in Wheel (Bedford County), Tenn., the daughter of Frances Lisenby Harris and Richard Ezra Harris Sr. To family and childhood friends she was known as "Tut" (after Egyptian King Tutankhamen). After attending Franklin County High School, Winchester, Tennessee, Virginia completed her senior year at Pine Grove High School in Saint Helena Parish, Louisiana. During World War II she worked as a secretary for A. R. Holton of Life & Casualty Insurance Company in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1945 she married Tech/Sgt. Richard Dean Ramsey, of Amite, Louisiana. After living in Arkansas and Kentucky, the couple settled in Louisiana in 1947, residing successively in New Orleans, Ponchatoula, Covington, and Hammond. Primarily a homemaker, she also served as secretary for the Church of Christ Student Center at Southeastern Louisiana University and as assistant manager for the Bible Shop, Hammond, Louisiana, until her husband's death in 1997. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ, Independence, Louisiana; the American Association of Retired Persons; the American Automobile Association; the Harding University Alumni Association; and the Central Church of Christ Girls Home Alumnae Club, Nashville, Tennessee. She was a longtime supporter of the Herald of Truth (Abilene, Texas) and Words of Life (Louisville, Kentucky) worldwide ministries. Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; two brothers, Richard Ezra Harris Jr. of Midland (near Bell Buckle), Tennessee, and William O. Harris of Estill Springs, Tennessee; and one sister, Rosemary Harris Riley of Harmony (near Winchester), Tennessee. She is survived by a brother, John T. Harris of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a sister, Bettye Lytle Harris, of Winchester, Tennessee; a son, Dr. Richard David Ramsey, of Hammond, Louisiana; a grandson, Private Carl David Ramsey, United States Army; a granddaughter, Anna Linnea Ramsey of Hammond, Louisiana; and a great-granddaughter, Natali Linnea Ramsey. Visitation was held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Louisiana, Friday, July 28, 2006 from 6-10 p.m. and was continued at Oak Grove Church of Christ on Louisiana Highway 40, three miles east of Independence, Louisiana, on Saturday, July 29,2006 from 9 a.m. segueing to the funeral there at 10 a.m. Graveside dismissal was held at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana, at 11:30 a.m., and a farewell luncheon was held at the Westchurch Church of Christ, Hammond, Louisiana, at noon. Arrangements were by Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana, (985) 345.5801. GIPSON Anna Faye, age 84 of Winchester passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Gipson was a loving and devoted caregiver to her family. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ at Oak Grove. She worked for Genesco in Cowan, owned and operated a beauty shop in Decherd and retired from Carrier following nine years of service. Her husband of more than 50 years, William Clyde Gipson and grandsons, William and Ira Gipson, preceded her in death. Mrs. Gipson is survived by her sons, Donnie (Joyce) Gipson of Pelham, Ricky Doyle Gipson and Randy Lynn (Bonnie) Gipson both of Winchester; daughter, Clyda Fay (David Wayne) Hall of Birmingham, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Sunday, July 30, 2006 from 1-8 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home. The funeral service was conducted Monday, July 31, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of the Watson-North Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Hart officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd with family and friends serving as pallbearers. WILDER, Mary Lee, age 81 of Winchester, passed away Saturday July 29, 2006 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. Her high school sweetheart and husband of 59 years, William Allen “Bill” Wilder, precedes her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Stan) Weber of Magnolia, Texas; a son, Glenn Wilder of Winchester; her long-time friend, Judy Schenderline of Winchester; grandchildren, Heidi Jenkins, Kristin Adzgery, Lisle Simpson and Julia Finchum; and great-grandchildren, Kiley Silva, Conner and Kiera Adzgery and Caleb Jennings. Mrs. Wilder was born in Chicago, Ill., but spent many years in Franklin County before relocating to St. Petersburg, Fla., where she worked in the dental office of Dr. Paul H. Schmidt for 27 years. She returned to Franklin County in 1986 and has made her home here since then. Mrs. Wilder was a member of the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 5-8 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at 3 p.m. from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of the Watson-North Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathon Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Owens Chapel Cemetery with friends and family members serving as pallbearers. VANZANT, Hugh Lynn, age 66 of Belvidere died Friday, July 28, 2006 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. He was born in Belvidere and was a farmer. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Darlene Vanzant of Belvidere; daughter, Scarlett (Shane) White of Belvidere; son, Hubert Austell Vanzant of Belvidere; brother, Glynn Vanzant of Belvidere; two sisters, Betty Ray (Davis) Shultz of Winchester and Alice Fay Vanzant of Belvidere; two grandchildren, Chloe and Cullyn Davenport of Belvidere; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Sunday, July 30, 2006 at 4 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel. VAUGHN, Donald E., age 82 of Estill Springs died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the Lynchburg Nursing Center in Lynchburg. He was born in Ohio and is survived by his wife, Roberta Vaughn of Estill Springs; three sons, Greg Allyn (Jeanne) Vaughn of Decherd, Donald Ellis (Cindy) Vaughn of Ameilia Island, Fla. and James Lee (Pamela) Vaughn of Savannah, Ga.; a daughter, Debra Day Vaughn of Nashville; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Rieke, Cris, Julie and Nicole Vaughn, Luceas, Hollie, Elizabeth and Justin Sain; and seven great-grandchildren, Robert Rieke, Jessica and Alexis Bond, Maggie and Allie Vaughn and Alex and Raidon Sain. WHITTINGTON, Charles L., age 81 of Winchester died Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. He was born in Green County, Ohio and was a Tool and Die Supervisor employed by General Motors. Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by wife, Ella C. Whittington. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Whittington of Winchester; four sons, Gary K. Whittington of Monroe, Ga., Loren P. Whittington of Houston, Texas, Ronald L. Whittington of Oxford, Ohio and Douglas E. Whittington of Mansfield, Ohio; a brother, Max Whittington of Xenia, Ohio; two sisters, Aileen Whittington and Wilma Shaw, both of Xenia, Ohio; and nine grandchildren. MULCAHY, Nettie M., age 80 of Huntland, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Sunbridge Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida Gardner Rappoldt; brother, Marvin Rappoldt; two sisters, Mary Alderman and Arvilla Jones; husband, Louis Mulcahy; and daughter, Joan Newman. Mrs. Mulcahy is survived by her two granddaughters, Jo Ann Adkins of Elizabethton and Shelia Estrada of Sterling, Va.; two brothers, Irvin Rappoldt of Glenville, Penn. and George (Helen) Rappoldt, Jr. of Hanover, Penn.; two sisters, Vallie Bowers of Lake Helen, Fla. and Shirley Anne (Thomas) Simmons of Huntland; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 6 p.m. from the Church of Christ at Huntland. GIFFORD, Floyd Avery, age 48 of Tullahoma died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006 at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma. He was born in Chicago, Ill. and was a painter. Mr. Gifford is survived by his daughter, Kathy Lee of Wisc.; a son, Joshua Evans of Pontiac, Ill.; mother, Effie Gifford of Lynchburg; four sisters, Debra Jean Gifford of Joliet, Ill., Libby Findlay of Tullahoma, Ora Flanigan of Boilingbrook, Ill. and Wanda Gifford of Westmont, Ill.; and three brothers, Donald Gifford of Tullahoma, Leslie Jack Gifford of Boilingbrook, Ill. and Edward Gifford of Rush Springs, Okla. KING, Norris Kyle, age 76 of Estill Springs died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at Hendersonville Medical Center. He was born in Harvey, Ill. and was a machine operator. Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Linda King. He is survived by a step-daughter, Ginger Holt of Hendersonville; two grandchildren, Michael Allen Holt and Jason Edward Holt; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
