ETHEL MAE SMITH
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Mae Smith, 82, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Rev. Terry McCloud officiating.

Mrs. Smith died Sunday, November 9 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and was of the Church of Christ faith.

Born November 23, 1920, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Edd and Elizabeth (Coffee) Sells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erby Smith; and two daughters, Patsy Bennett and Kaye Parham.

Survivors include a son, Charles Smith of Livingston; two brothers, Jack Sells of Livingston and Joe Sells of Anderson, IN; three sisters, Judy Husser of Middletown, IN, and Judy Thompson and Betty Lynn, both of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Stormiee Eldred, April Parham, Charles Steven Smith, Jesse James Parham, Chipper Bennett, and Jonathan Bennett; and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Smith, Jesse Parham, Jessie Sevier, Ryan Huntzinger, Mike Dishman, and John McBride.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Tim Sells, Stevie Joe Sells, and Alan Eldred.

Special care provided by Speck Funeral Home.

JESSIE L. SMITH
Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie L. Smith, 73, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Ruth Chapel cemetery with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating.

Mrs. Smith died Saturday, November 15 at her home. She was a garment factory worker and a member of Ruth Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Born September 18, 1930, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Martha Ellen (Qualls) Wolfe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Smith; a son, Ronald Martin Smith; three brothers, Carl Wolfe, J.T. Wolfe, and Cecil Wolfe; and a sister, Gladys England.

Survivors include a son, Johnny "Squeak" Smith of Livingston; two granddaughters, Shannon Ford and Becky Smith, both of Livingston; two grandsons, Bryan Smith and Scottie Smith, both of Livingston; six great grandchildren; two nieces, Nelda Brown and Louise Davis; and two special friends, Jessie Pryor and Frances Fyffe.

Pallbearers were Scotty Smith, Bryan Smith, Danny Ford, Doug Smith, Charlie Ray, Horace Ray, and Michael Pryor.

NANCY CAROL (JOHNSON) YOUNG
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Carol (Johnson) Young, 51, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Rev. Ricky Cross officiating.

Mrs. Young died Sunday, November 9 at her home. She was an LPN and a member of First Baptist Church in Livingston.

Born August 4, 1952, in Detriot, MI, she was the daughter of Johnnie B. Johnson of Livingston and the late Willis Terry Johnson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cass S. and Etta Agnes (Eldridge) Stout and Bee and Dollie (White) Johnson.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Jackie Young of Monroe; two daughters, Christy Gore and her husband, Travis, of Monroe and Kimberly Pierce and her husband, Eric, of Byrdstown; a brother, David Johnson and his wife, Leta, of Gallatin; three sisters, Sherry Maynord and her husband, Rick, and Leigh Ann Simcox, all of Livingston, and Angela Gore and her husband, Barry, of Baxter; two grandchildren, Shayna Gore and Angel Robbins; and a step-grandson, Cody Gore.

Pallbearers were Wayne Huckeby, Dave Parresol, Billy Oliver, Scotty Walker, Adam Smith, Randall Stockton, Allen Roberts, and Dodd Scott.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were the remaining members of Monroe Volunteer Fire Department, Rachel Deck, Rhonda Roberts, Cindy Collins, Steven Flowers, Carolyn Oliver, and Matt Melton.

Robert Dewayne Ledbetter
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Dewayne Ledbetter, 43, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Ledbetter Family cemetery with Bro. Jerry Buck officiating.

Mr. Ledbetter died Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a roofer.

Born February 22, 1959, in Overton County, he was the son of Robert Glen and Olene Lee (Gore) Ledbetter of Hardy's Chapel. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Buck and Cora Ledbetter and Harve and Georgia Gore; his father-in-law, J.T. Abbott; and a nephew, Rocky Dishman.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Elizabeth A. Ledbetter of Livingston, two sons, Tony Dewayne Ledbetter of Monroe and Steve Allen Ledbetter of Livingston; two brothers, Johnny Ledbetter and Kenny Ledbetter, both of Alpine; two sisters, Glenda Vaught of Indianapolis, IN, and Sharon Garrett of Livingston; a grandson, Jordan Ledbetter, and another on the way; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Pallbearers were Tony Ledbetter, Steve Ledbetter, David Abbott, Jody Abbott, Rick Abbott, and John Savage.

Honorary pallbearers were Jason Lindsey, Brian Reagan, Cody Clark, Virgil Sizemore, Joey Upton, and Toby Upton.

Roy Lee Ledbetter
Funeral services for Mr. Roy Lee Ledbetter, 85, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial, along with full military honors provided by James T. Davis Post 5062 of Livingston, was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Stoner officiating.

Mr. White died Friday, Feb. 7 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired farmer and sawmill worker and affiliated with the Baptist church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Born June 6, 1917, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Walter and Mae Ledbetter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Jewell (Flatt) Ledbetter; two sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Ledbetter of Huntsville, AL, and David Ledbetter of Livingston; seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Dalphine and William Carmack, Joyce Bilbrey, and Fern and Jerry Savage, all of Livingston, Lorene and Gene Daniel of Albany, IN, Sue and Bruce Buck of Anderson, IN, Patricia White of Rickman, and Judy and Billy Wright of Oliver Springs; two sisters, Zella Carr and Della Brown, both of Livingston; 25 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ed Daniel, Philip Buck, Derrick Buck, Michael Savage, Kerry Ledbetter, Casey White, Greg Savage, and Jason Whited.

Brent Eric McAlpin
Brent Eric McAlpin, 45, of Liberty Hill, TX, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at his home.

He was born July 22, 1957, in Dayton, OH, to William Virgil McAlpin and Patricia Ann (Forlines) McAlpin.

He was a 1975 graduate of Livingston Academy, and the nephew of the late Ray and Betty Hogue. Survivors include a son, Thomas Lee Eric McAlpin of San Angelo, TX; a daughter, Olivia Leigh McAlpin of Liberty Hill, TX; his parents of Fayetteville; a brother, Brad Ivan McAlpin of Farmington; and a sister, Tonya Y. Scroggins of Lincoln.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at Farmington cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Rob Hadley officiating. Burial was held after the ceremony.

Arrangements were under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, AR.

Lynn Morgan Rogers
Funeral services for Mr. Lynn Morgan Rogers, 54, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Aaron's Chapel cemetery with Rev. Phillip Morgan officiating.

Mr. Rogers died Saturday, Feb. 8 at his home. He was a furniture factory worker and a member of Aaron's Chapel Community Church.

Born August 19, 1948, in Jackson County, he was the son of Mary (Murphy) Rogers Strange of Hilham and the late Walter Rogers.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two daughters, Julie Ann Rogers of Murfreesboro and Andrea Lynn Rogers of Livingston; a son, Kenneth Rogers of Hilham; a sister, Patricia Stevenson of Cartersville, GA; and a grandson.

Zola Katherine Sells
Funeral services for Mrs. Zola Katherine Sells, 77, Monroe, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Bro. Bob Stoner and Bro. Aron Dillon officiating.

Mrs. Sells died Tuesday, Feb. 4 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of Beaty Swamp Community Church and the Home Demonstration Club.

Born October 17, 1925, in Fentress County, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Alpha Ann (Choate) Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Arthur E. "Bud" Sells of Monroe; a son, William Sells of Livingston; two daughters, Martha Padgett and Ann Talley, both of Monroe; three sisters, Clara Richards, Jamestown, Carrie Smith, Alpine, and Electra Franklin, Grimsley; seven grandchildren, Jane Ann Ferrell, Coy Edward Padgett, Dudley Talley, Rodney Padgett, Buddy Sells, Eddie Sells, and Frankie Talley; and five great grandchildren, Matthew Ferrell, Chase Ferrell, Jayna Kate Ferrell, Megan Talley, and Beth Talley.

Pallbearers were Coy Padgett, Dudley Talley, Rodney Padgett, Buddy Sells, Eddie Sells, Frankie Talley, Matthew Ferrell, and Chase Ferrell.

Carmen May Stover
Funeral services for Mrs. Carmen May Stover, 91, of Monroe, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, from Free Communion Church of Christ. Burial was in Richardson cemetery with Bro. Glenn Ledbetter officiating.

Mrs. Stover died Sunday, Feb. 2 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a furniture factory worker and a member of Free Communion Church of Christ.

Born May 18, 1911, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Ona V. (Winningham) Stover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Stover; and a grandson, Robbie Melton.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Kathy Stover of Jasper, TX; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nina and Raleigh Melton of Allons, Willa Dean and Odis Mayberry of Monroe, and Kay and Leonard Ledbetter of Livingston; a sister, Connie Smith of Deerfield, OH; 11 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 18 step-great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lonnie Melton, Brandon Melton, Mike Mayberry, Jeff Mayberry, Ricky Ledbetter, and Steve Poston.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Andrew Stover, Jonathan Stover, and Larry Melton.

Alex Qualls Verble
Funeral services for Alex Qualls Verble, 83, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, from the Wildwood Chapel of Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park.

He was born April 5, 1919, in Livingston. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marie Verble; and daughter, Patsy Potts.

Mr. Verble died Thursday, Feb. 6, in Dallas. He was a veteran of World War II in the Army Air Corp. He was the owner of Al Verble Sale Company and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He loved to hunt and fish and was a game warden in Tennessee. He adored his children and grandchildren and wanted to go home and see his wife.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Longoria of Addison, TX, and Debra Verble-Smith of Garland, TX; six grandchildren, Alan and wife Donna Potts of Arlington, TX, David Potts of Terrell, TX, Brian and wife Amy Longoria of McKinney, TX, Kevin and wife Jennifer Longoria of Madisonville, TX, and Amy Smith and Jason Smith, both of Garland; seven great grandsons; and countless friends.

Edgar Bruce "E.B." White
Funeral services for Mr. Edgar Bruce White, better known as E.B., 54, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in White cemetery with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating.

Mr. White died Wednesday, Feb. 5 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was affiliated with Monroe Christian Church.

Born April 30, 1948, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Edgar and Lela (Norris) White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy White, Charles White, and Troy White.

Survivors include a sister, Clara Jean Reid of Mt. Sidney, VA; three brothers, Tommy White of Livingston, Jerry White of Cookeville, and Billy Joe White of Barberton, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Daniel Kolaskai, Danny White, Greg Reid, Timmy White, Charles Carter, and James Parrott.

MARY ANNA (CULBERSON) QUALLS
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Anna (Culberson) Qualls, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2003, from the chapel of Brentwood Funeral Home.

Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Rev. David McIntyre officiating.

Mrs. Qualls died Friday, November 14. She was a graduate of Livingston Academy and Tennessee Tech University, and a retired teacher for Metro Nashville Schools.

She was the daughter of the late John P. and Zoe (Dell) Culberson.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Ed Qualls of Nashville; a daughter, Jacquelyn Power of Franklin; a sister, Reba May Stults of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Nicole Harper, John Power, Henri Harris-Qualls, and Sofie Harris-Qualls; and two special friends, Jeanne Gardner and Brad Perkinson.
