CHARLOTTE GRACE RAMSEY
Ms. Charlotte Grace Ramsey, 62, of Rickman, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She worked in the accounting department at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Born July 28, 1940, in Evansville, she was the daughter of the late Hillas and Loyetta (Miller) Ramsey.

Survivors include two brothers, Louis Ramsey of the Swallows Chapel Community in Rickman and Tildon Ramsey of Dover Plains, NY.

No services have been planned at this time as the family chose cremation.

MARY ELEASE WEBB
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elease Webb, 90, of Rickman, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge cemetery with Rev. Comer McGuire and Rev. Marvin Saylors officiating.

Mrs. Webb died Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired Overton County school teacher and a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church.

Born July 30, 1912, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and May Looper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Howard Webb; and a brother, Cato Looper.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Webb of Rickman; five daughters and sons-in-law; Geraldine and Ernest Garrett of Livingston, Wyndoline and Harvey Farris and Marcia Ann and David Eldridge, all of Cookeville, and Betty Jo and Russ Owens and Sharon and Randy Sevier, all of Rickman; a brother, Largo Looper of the Dry Hollow Community; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

M.L. HARRIS
Funeral services for Mr. M.L. Harris, 71, of Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.

Burial was in Welch Memorial cemetery with Rev. David Phillips officiating.

Mr. Harris died Friday, October 31 at his home. He was a glass worker and a member of Mineral Springs First Baptist Church.

Born September 28, 1932, in Overton County, he was the son of Rev. Foyster and Lyda (Sisco) Harris. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Harris.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, May Bell Harris of Monterey; two sons, Ronald Harris of Knoxville and Merle Jr. Harris of Mayland; three daughters, Olive Harris, Joyce Quinlin, and Dava Harris, all of Monterey; two brothers, George Albert Harris of Crossville and Hollis Harris of the Love Joy Community; four sisters, Bonnie Pierce of the Love Joy Community, Reba Pierce and Emma Lou Vernon, both of the Mineral Springs Community, and Genevieve Stouder of Monterey; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

JOHN MELTON
Funeral services for Mr. John Melton, 86, of Monterey and formerly of the Crossroads Community, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Home in Monterey.

Burial was in Wilson cemetery with Rev. Willie Anderson and Rev. Hoyt Looper officiating.

Mr. Melton died Wednesday, October 29 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was a sawmill worker and a World War II Army veteran.

Born October 16, 1917, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Tom and Kelley (Ford) Melton. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas Melton and Bill Melton; and two sisters, Veachel Buckner, and infant sister, Daisy Dimple Melton.

Survivors include a brother, Thomas "Puter" Melton of Monterey; and two sisters, Pearl Sisco and Rosezell Wilson, both of Monterey.

SYlVIA TIPTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Tipton, 74, of Algood, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2003, from the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Algood.

Burial was in Algood City cemetery with Bro. Kerry Higgins officiating.

Mrs. Tipton died Friday, November 21 at Masters Health Care Center in Algood. She was retired from Cookeville Shirt Co. and a member of Algood First Baptist Church.

Born June 20, 1929, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Cora (Dickerson) Hooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Jacob Hunter and James Tipton; a son, Eddy Hunter; three sisters, Mary Gillem, Martha Copeland, and Edith Nelson; and seven brothers, Overton Hooks, Benton Hooks, Walter Hooks, Eugene Hooks, Henry Hooks, Willie Hooks, and Columbus Hooks.

Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Sain of Algood and Cindy Gothard of Nashville; a sister, Myrtle Hicks of the Hardy's Chapel Community; a granddaughter, Curiston Stevens of Cookeville; a grandson, Corey Hunter of Nashville; and a great grandson, Seth Stevens of Cookeville.

Mrs. Tipton's family and friends served as pallbearers.

MCKINLEY BOOT WOODY
Funeral services for Mr. McKinley Boot Woody, 79, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2003, at Apostolic Lighthouse Church on Falling Water Road.

Burial was in West cemetery with Bro. Jay Blankenship and Bro. George Conley officiating.

Mr. Woody died Friday, November 21 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was a retired coal miner at Red Jacket Coal Co. and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was a World War II veteran, having received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, a Victory Medal, three overseas medals, and the American Service Medal.

Born June 12, 1924, in Londall, WV, he was the son of the late Don and Tennessee (Goodman) Woody. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Lee (Cecil) Woody; a daughter, Polly Ann Kennedy; two brothers, William C. Woody and E.C. Woody; a sister, Nancy Marie Paint; a granddaughter, Mary Ann Toler; and a great grandchild, Amy Toler.

Survivors include three daughters, Mable Tayse and her husband, Kenneth, and Joann Woody, all of Cookeville, and Glenna Lafferty and her husband, Walter, of Sunhill, WV; two sons, John Woody and his wife, Sandra, and Jimmy Woody and his wife, Patricia, all of Cookeville; three brothers, Jason Woody and his wife, Inas, of Bartley, WV, and Roy Goodman and his wife, Clara, and Connie Kennedy, all of Cookeville; three sisters, Anna Lawrence of Dayton, OH, Dolly Kenneda of Simon, WV, and Bonnie Miller Flatt and her husband, Al, of Cookeville; 10 grandchildren, Angel McCloud, John Woody Jr., Charles Woody, Lucas Woody, Jason Tayse, Charlie Toler, Georgia Suttles, Glenna V. Blankenship, Jesse Dunford, and John Conn; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Woody's grandchildren served as pallbearers.

PAUL BRADY
Funeral services for Mr. Paul Brady, 74, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in Old Maxwell Chapel cemetery with Bro. Dewey Glenn Masters officiating.

Mr. Brady died Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a factory employee and of the Baptist faith. He truly enjoyed life and helping others. He was a friend to all who knew him.

Born November 10, 1928, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Quitman and Belle (Hawkins) Brady. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernest Brady and James Brady.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys (Moss) Brady of Livingston; a daughter, Diane Dale of Hilham; a sister, Ruby Norrod of Livingston; a brother, Carl Brady of Livingston; a granddaughter; a great granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Steve Rector, Tim Rector, Shaun Scantland, Billy Scantland, Thomas Rector, and Roxanne Rector. Special care provided by Livingston Funeral Home.

JAMES MALBERT "BERT" BROWN
Funeral services for Mr. James Malbert "Bert" Brown, 44, of Baxter, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2003, from the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home.

Burial was in New Hope cemetery with Bro. Chuck Branch officiating.

Mr. Brown died Friday, December 19 at his home. He was a factory worker at Identity Group and attended New Hope Baptist Church.

Born July 18, 1959, in Cookeville, he was the son of Larry Hugh and Marie (Phelps) Brown of Baxter. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Doris Phelps; and his paternal grandparents, Malbert and Ora Mae Brown.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, Larry Dale Brown of Baxter; two sisters, Anna Brown and Glenda Medley and her husband, Roger, all of Cookeville; a niece, Ashlyn Medley of Cookeville; a nephew, Jackson Medley of Cookeville; two aunts, Susan Stamps and Arnell Anderson; and an uncle, William Phelps.

Pallbearers were James Maynard, Floyd Brown, Charles Anderson, Bill Anderson, Mike Robichaud, and Wayne Stamps.

PEARL (PHILLIPS) Crawford
Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl (Phillips) Crawford, 86, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Crawford cemetery with Bro. A.J. Cox officiating.

Mrs. Crawford died Friday, December 19 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of Flatt Creek Church of Christ.

Born May 11, 1917, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Mary (Carwile) Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Crawford; a son, Ray Crawford; and a great grandson, Johnathan Earl Crawford.

Survivors include a son, Raymond Crawford and his wife, Sue, of Hardy's Chapel; a daughter, Lula Bell Riley and her husband, Bill, of Hardy's Chapel; a brother-in-law, Buford Rector of Gainesboro; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Phillips of Livingston; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

EDITH MARIE DALTON
Graveside services for Miss Edith Marie Dalton, 79, of Nashville, and formerly of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, from Good Hope cemetery with Rev. Craig Green officiating.

Miss Dalton died Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Summit Medical Center. She was a factory worker and of the Methodist faith.

Born January 9, 1923, in Livingston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Westley and Beulah K. (Williford) Dalton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Dulaney; and a brother, Joe W. Dalton.

Survivors include three sisters, Gladys Vanderver of Akron, OH, Opal Moredock of Sevierville, and Frances Green of Canton, GA.

ARNIE BETHEL COPELAND
Funeral services for Mr. Arnie Bethel Copeland, 96, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Green Hill cemetery with Bro. Terry Crabtree officiating.

Mr. Copeland died Monday, March 15 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH. He worked with the Sunshine Biscuit Company for 17 years.

Born February 12, 1908, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Albert and Ollie (Robbins) Copeland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Conva L. (Smith) Copeland; a daughter, Christine Robbins; and a son, Harley Copeland.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie B. Copeland of Livingston; four sons, Kelly Copeland and Ray Copeland, both of Tipp City, OH; Roy Copeland of Dayton, and Arnie Copeland Jr. of Livingston; two daughters, Marie Danner of Tipp City and Nellie Miller of Riverside, OH; two sisters, Clarice Robbins of Trotwood, OH, and Clara Beaty of Alpine; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

HOMER HARGIS
Funeral services for Mr. Homer Hargis, 78, of Hanging Limb, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2004, at Hanging Limb Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial was in Phillips cemetery with Rev. Richard Rollins and Rev. Billy Hedgecough officiating.

Mr. Hargis died Friday, March 19 at his home. He was a retired factory worker and a member of Hanging Limb Missionary Baptist Church.

Born July 25, 1925, in Overton County, he was the son of Rubin Hargis of Algood and the late Bertha (Sisco) Hargis. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Hargis and Clyde Hargis; and a sister, Pauline Reed.

Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife of 53 years, Gearldine (Shephard) Hargis of Hanging Limb; two daughters, Diane Shouse and her husband, Donnie, of Monterey, and Donna Baker and her husband, Billy, of Hanging Limb; three sons, Dewayne Hargis and Jack Hargis, both of Hanging Limb, and Roger Hargis and his wife, Vickie, of Monterey; three brothers, Otis Hargis and his wife, Goldie, of Hanging Limb, Claude Hargis and his wife, Dean, of Cookeville, and Danny Hargis and his wife, Teresa, of Monterey; three sisters, Juanita Reed and her husband, Buster, of Hanging Limb, Geneva Simpson and her husband, Doug, of Wallings Creek, KY, and Betty Cleghorn and her husband, Donald, of Algood; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Brenda Bingham of Livingston.
