RUTHIE LACK
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruthie Lack, 80, of Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.

Burial was in Welch Memorial cemetery with Rev. Raymond Phillips and Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating.

Mrs. Lack died Tuesday, March 16 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. She was a retired factory worker and had owned and operated Lack's Clothing Store in Monterey. She was a member of Monterey First Baptist Church.

Born August 13, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Sullivan and Ova (Phillips) England. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry O. "Buddy" Lack; two brothers, Artie Henry England, and Otis England; and a grandson, Daniel Norrod.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Norrod and his wife, Anna K., of Monterey, and Ronald Norrod and his wife, Brenda, of Grimsley; three sisters, Ruby Bowman, Evelyn Phillips and her husband, Carlen, and Jeanette Phillips and her husband, Amos, all of Monterey; five brothers, Talmadge England and his wife, Naoimi, and James England and his wife, Beatrice, all of Monterey, and Earl England and his wife, Charlene, Richard England and his wife, Elanor, and Junior England and his wife, Linda, all of Clarkrange; two grandsons, Michael Norrod and his wife, Leslie, of Elizabethton, and Steve Norrod and his wife, Dora, of Monterey; and two great grandchildren, Payton Norrod and Spence Norrod, both of Elizabethton.

ALFRED OREN SMITH
Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Oren Smith, 92, of Eastpointe, MI, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2004, from the chapel of Kaul Funeral Home in Clinton Township, MI.

Burial was in Clinton Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, March 16 at the Bon Secours Hospital.

Born October 21, 1911, in Manson, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Smith; a son, David Smith; two brothers, Guy Smith and Bethel Smith; a sister, Reva Ledford; and a son-in-law, Harold Graham.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Graham; a sister, Opha Reynolds; 6 grandchildren, Steve Graham and his wife, Janet, Susan Brown and her husband, Wayne, Scott Graham and his wife, Judy, David Scott Smith, Debbie LaGrutta and her husband, Paul, and Jim Smith and his wife, Shawn; 13 great grandchildren, Erin, Trevor, Matthew, Kelly, Megan, Madison, Jienelle, Paul, Jeffrey, David, Daniel, Devin, and Delaney; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Smith.

IRENE (BROWN) WILLEFORD
Funeral services for Mrs. Irene (Brown) Willeford, 80, of Hilham, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Campground cemetery with Rev. Tommy Harris and Rev. John Weaver officiating.

Mrs. Willeford died Sunday, March 14 at Bethesda Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Hilham United Methodist Church.

Born November 23, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Alva Brown and Lillie Mae (Masters) Brown Hembree. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leslie Willeford; her step-father, A.B. "Ben" Hembree; two sisters, Doris Marie (Brown) Sink and Dorothy Hembree; and a brother, A.B. "Ben" Hembree Jr.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Willeford and his wife, Rhonda, of Hilham; a brother, Donald Hembree and his wife, Ann, of Cookeville; a sister, Jane Knight and her husband, David, of Decatur, AL; three grandsons, Wesley Willeford, John Willeford, and Robert Huckeby, all of Hilham; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tony Hembree, Jackie Hembree, Mark Hembree, David Sink, Dennie Sink, and Michael Danner.

JONATHON TROY DANIELS
Funeral services for Private First Class Jonathan Troy Daniels, 18, of Fort Knox, KY, and formerly of the Flatt Creek Community, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Daniels Family cemetery with Bro. Doyle Bowen officiating.

Mr. Daniels died Thursday, Jan. 2 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a soldier in the United States Army and of the Church of Christ faith.

Born February 27, 1984, in Overton County, he was the son of John and Mary (Boles) Daniels of the Flatt Creek Community.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a son, Austin David Crabtree of Hilham; a brother, Richard Daniels of Rockwood; two sisters, Patricia Gentry of Gainesboro and Teresa Dixon of Livingston; eight nieces; and three nephews.

EVELYN M. FERGUSON
Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn M. Ferguson, 83, of Aledo, IL, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, from the chapel of Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial was in Corns cemetery in Perryton Township Mercer County, IL, with Rev. Robert Stoner, her son, officiating.

Mrs. Ferguson died Saturday, Jan. 4 at Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo. She received her education from the Black Oak School and attended Viola High School. She was employed in the kitchen of the Mercer County Hospital for more than 20 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Aledo First Baptist Church and its Women's Organizations, the Mercer County Senior CitizenŐs Center, AARP, and the Sunshine Circle. She married Herschel Stoner in 1938 and later married Willard Ferguson on September 2, 1977, in New Boston, IL.

Born February 23, 1919, in Perryton Township Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Fred A. and Ruth E. (Sproston) Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Ferguson, and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Bertha Stoner of Livingston and Raymond and Mary Stoner of Peoria, IL; seven sisters, Leona Maynard, Mildred Pratt, Letha Fisher, Pauline Riley and Dorothy Cooper, all of Aledo, Shirley Schultz of Silvis, IL, and Patty Ryan of Metamora, IL; five brothers, Richard Williams, Willard Williams, and Leonard Williams, all of Aledo, Melvin Williams of Arizona, and Everett Williams of Boise, ID; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Nursing Home in care of Fippinger Funeral Home, 401 South College Ave., Aledo, IL 61231.

LIZA BROWN LEVAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Liza (Brown) Levan, 89, of Rossville, GA, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Miller cemetery with Bro. Damon Corley officiating.

Mrs. Levan died Friday, Jan. 3 at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga. She was a homemaker and a member of Allons Baptist Church.

Born September 22, 1913, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Sofrona Viola (Ferrell) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry D. Levan; two brothers, Walter Lawrence and Charlie Brown; and a sister, Bertha Huckeby.

Survivors include a son, John Levan of Winchester; two daughters, Kathleen Peterman of Rossville, GA, and Margaret Painter of Cuyhoga Falls, OH; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jeff Levan, Gary Peterman, Billy Heming, Mike Painter, Steve Painter, and John Painter.

BEULAH E. MOORE
Funeral services for Mrs. Buelah E. Moore, 94, of Anderson, IN, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, from the chapel of Brown, Butz, Diedring Funeral Home in Anderson. Burial was in Anderson Memorial Park with Jerry Scott officiating.

Mrs. Moore died Friday, Jan. 3 at her home. She was a nanny for area families for more than 30 years. She held memberships in the Madison County Triad and Senior Link Program, and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Born January 30, 1908, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Avo Ayers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Moore; six sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include a daughter, Patty Hamilton of Anderson; a step-daughter and her husband, Mariam and Palmer Smith of Lake Wales, FL; a sister, Ollie Geiger of Anderson; 10 step-grandchildren; four nieces, Joyce Scott and husband Glenn, Georgiana Yahn, and Jean Forry, all of Anderson, and Phyllis Humphries of Alexandria, IN; a nephew, Larry Geiger and wife Teri of Port Orange, FL; a cousin, Milton Ayers of Anderson; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

ROSA NELL PETERMAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Nell Peterman, 67, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Miller cemetery with Rev. Larry Thomas and Rev. Jerry Buck officiating.

Mrs. Peterman died Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was the former owner of West End Footwear and a member of Livingston Church of God.

Born January 29, 1935, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Alpha Ferrell. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dolphus Davis.

Survivors include three sons, Roy Davis of Monroe and Larry Davis and Randy Davis, both of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters, Carolyn Dickson of Indianapolis and Diane Watkins of Livingston; a brother, Joe Ferrell of Hamilton, OH; a sister, Susan Buck of Livingston; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

OPAL (HAMMOCK) BROWN
Funeral services for Mrs. Opal (Hammock) Brown, 84, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Oakley cemetery with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.

Mrs. Brown died Saturday, Jan. 18 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a factory worker, a member of Eastern Star of Livingston, and of the Baptist faith. Born November 16, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late James Tilford and Ollie Butler Smith Hammock.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Vickie Brown of Soddy Daisy; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Mac McLeod of Livingston; a brother, M.J. Hammock of Livingston; a sister, Dallas Smith of Livingston; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Harold Smith, Danny Smith, Daniel Smith, Eric Hammock, Tony Carr, and Joey Clement.

CLYDE LEE "SONNY" BALLARD
Memorial services for Mr. Clyde Lee "Sonny" Ballard, of Rootstown, OH, were conducted on Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Unity Chapel of Light in Tallmadge, OH.

Mr. Ballard died Thursday, November 25 at his home. He was a Mason with Akron, OH, Lodge 83, an alumnus of University of Akron, and owner and operator of Ballard Heating and Air Conditioning since 1985. He loved his family, home, his dog, gadgets, mechanical things, and fast cars.

He was born in Nashville and lived most of his life in Akron and Rootstown.

Survivors include his mother, Pauline Ballard of Livingston: his wife, Cheryl; two daughters, Wendy Miller and her husband, Jon, and Karie Ballard; two sisters, Beverly of Tennessee and Barbara Kress of Massillon, OH; a grandchild, Seth Miller; four nieces, Krista Schwerger, Michelle Stanton, Kimberly Ricker, and Jane Kress; and three nephews, Ryan Cummings, John Cummings, and Rick Kress.

Special care provided by Unity Chapel of Light.

NELL (MOON) BEATY
Funeral services for Mrs. Nell (Moon) Beaty, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.

Burial was in Sylvester Robbins cemetery with Bro. Arnold Moon and Bro. Donald Cobb officiating.

Mrs. Beaty died Saturday, December 6 at her residence. She was a housewife and a member of Livingston First Baptist Church.

Born August 20, 1935, in Pickett County, she was the daughter of the late William Spencer and Bertha (Conatser) Moon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Fonzie Tompkins, Vonnie Gibson, and Nora Mullins; two brothers, Jay Moon and Tommy Moon; and an infant brother and sister.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Beaty of Livingston; two sons, Mitchell Beaty and his wife, Angie, of Cookeville, and Richard Beaty and his wife, Susan, of Mobile, AL; six sisters, Dorothy Tompkins and Ilene West, both of Byrdstown, Cora Storie and her husband, Walden, of Springboro, OH, Bessie Garrett of Akron, OH, Norma Qualls and her husband, Doyle, and Betty Barton and her husband, John, all of Beaufort, SC; a brother, Talbert Pryor of Crossville; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Tompkins of Akron, and Glee Gibson of Byrdstown; five grandchildren, Morgan Beaty, Taylre Beaty, Trey Beaty, Gracie Beaty, and Mary Clare Beaty; and several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Mrs. Beaty's nephews served as pallbearers.

MARIE KATHLINE CARR
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Kathline Carr, 70, of Cookeville, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville.

Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Pastor Mike Campbell officiating.

Mrs. Carr died Saturday, December 6 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired owner and operater of Dipsy Doodle Restaurant and attended Trinity Assembly in Algood. She organized benefits for Christmas for underprivileged children, and assisted numerous employees in their college education.

She was also acknowledged in USA Today for having the best hamburgers and hamburger steaks in the United States, and was the best mom that she could possibly be.

Born October 10, 1933, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Effie Mae (Key) Qualls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darel Carr; two brothers, Donnie Qualls and A.J. Qualls; and her mother and father-in-law, Henry and Maude Carr.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Carr) Black of Cookeville; a brother, Ronnie Qualls and his wife, Barbara, of Livingston; a grandson, Dakota Ray Black of Cookeville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bobby Hill, Mike Maynord, Craig Terry, Howard Allison, Mike Turner, and Ismail Bagci.
