LYDIA E. "BITTY" (DAVIS) CARR
Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia E. "Bitty" (Davis) Carr, 81, of Anderson, IN, and formerly of Overton County, were conducted Saturday, December 27, 2003, from the chapel of Robert D. Loose Funeral Home in Anderson.
Burial was in Pleasant Walk cemetery in Anderson.
Mrs. Carr died Monday, December 22 at her home.
Born June 12, 1922, on Walker Mountain in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late William Hickman and Emma (Smith) Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodroe Carr; a daughter, Sheila Fern Carr; three sons, Stanley Carr, Willie Ray Carr, and Steve Carr; four brothers, Walter Davis, Estel Davis, Ira Davis, and Cecil Smith; and a great grandson, Kevin Scott.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Wayne Carr and his wife, Diane, and David Carr and his wife, Becky, all of Anderson; three daughters, Shelby Bennett and her husband, Joe, of Anderson, and Geraldine Centers and friend, Clark Hovermale, both of Sweetser, IN, and Helen Carpenter of Marion, IN; two sisters, her twin, Gladys Carr of Anderson and Latta Copeland of Allred; an aunt, Bertha Neal of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

WILLIS E. COFFMAN
Funeral services for Mr. Willis E. Coffman, 81, of Hilham, were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Maxwell Chapel cemetery with Bro. Barry Mayes and Bro. Robert Boles officiating.
Mr. Coffman died Saturday, December 27 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and a member of Hilham Church of Christ.
Born July 10, 1922, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Martha Alice (Brown) Coffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vonda Gillentine, Lola Dillon, and Grace Johnson; and five brothers, Valis Coffman, Vader Coffman, Arvil Coffman, Grady Coffman, and Jess Coffman.
Survivors include a brother, Albert Coffman of Hilham; a sister, Louise Moss of Detroit, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Paul Coffman, Gurstel Taylor, Leon Gillentine, William Gillentine, Carson Gillentine, and Mike Gillentine.

WILLIAM E. "ED" CONNER
Funeral services for Mr. William E. "Ed" Conner, 80, of Bluffton, IN, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Bluffton. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. with Pastor Don Wilks officiating.
Mr. Conner died Monday, December 22 at at home. He was a member of Canton Masonic Lodge 481 and Epworth United Methodist Church. He moved to Bluffton in 1951, and worked at Sterling Casting Company from 1951 until he retired in 1987 with 36 years of service.
After his retirement, he served six years as a custodian at Epworth United Methodist Church, and he assisted with Bible school at the church for several years. Mr. Conner was also a den leader with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Born August 27, 1923, in Overton County, he was the son of the late William and Ellen (Sullivan) Conner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Conner; and a sister, Nannie Conner.
Survivors include his wife, Ermin L. (Hummel) Conner; two sons, Terry E. Conner of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Timothy L. Conner of Delphi, IN; two grandsons, Spencer Conner and Alex Conner; and a granddaughter, Molly E. Conner.

HARLEY DE MILLE ADAMS
Funeral services for Mr. Harley De Mille Adams, 73, of Livingston, were conducted at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Mr. Adams died Thursday, Jan. 30 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired supervisor for RCA and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and Overton County Senior Citizens. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Born December 9, 1929, in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Harold D. and Helen C. (Taphorn) Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla "Petey" Adams of Livingston; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Shirley Adams of Tampa Bay, FL, and Gregory and Brenda Adams of Geneva, NY; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janine Coonce of Hanover, PA, Margaret and Mark Ross of Salisbury, MD, and Judy and Tom Patrick of Pennyan, NY; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Tom O'Donnell of Bensalen, PA, Elise Lee and Bill Coates of Livingston, and Carol and Harry Warner of Levittown, PA; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many VFW card-playing friends. The family chose cremation.

CARL C. GILPATRICK
Funeral services for Mr. Carl G. Gilpatrick, 93, of the Flatt Creek Community, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Flatt Creek cemetery with Bro. James Hunter and Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating. Mr. Gilpatrick died Friday, Jan. 31 at his home. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of Holly Springs Church of Christ. He served as Overton County Trustee from 1960 until 1970.
Born January 6, 1910, in Overton County, he was the son of the late James William "Bill" and Mattie Celina (Masters) Gilpatrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jack Harris Gilpatrick; an infant daughter; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Edwina (Thomas) Gilpatrick of Livingston; two sons, Bruce Gilpatrick of Chattanooga and Mike Gilpatrick of Livingston; two daughters, Elizabeth Lewis of Rossville, GA, and Linda Sue Gilpatrick of Dalton, GA; a brother, Dude Gilpatrick of Livingston; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. Pallbearers were Terry Gilpatrick, Gary Gilpatrick, Mark Gilpatrick, James Lewis, Wayne Gilpatrick, Eddie Gilpatrick, Jeff Gilpatrick, and James Brown.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Lansford Bilbrey and Oather Savage.

CHRISTOPHER LEE GREENWOOD
Funeral services for Mr. Christopher Lee Greenwood, 26, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, from the chapel of Rickman-Hall Funeral Home. Burial was in Coffee cemetery in Monroe with Bobby Gore officiating.
Mr. Greenwood died Friday, Jan. 24. Born July 30, 1976, in Overton County, he was the son of Roy Greenwood of Onieda and Rebecca Padgett of Cookeville. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Herman Coffee and Carle Greenwood; and a step-grandfather, J.D. Padgett.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Christal Greenwood of Livingston; a son, Bailey Greenwood of Livingston; his step-father, Wayne Padgett of Cookeville; two grandmothers, Haley Coffee Phillips of Cookeville and Edna Greenwood of Livingston; a step-grandmother, Gladys Padgett of Cookeville; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorie and Steve Judd of Cookeville; and two nephews, Chad Judd and Nicholas Judd, both of Cookeville.

LEVA LOOPER HOLMAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Leva Looper Holman, 91, of Monterey, were conducted at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey. Burial was in Looper cemetery with Rev. Coleman Looper, Rev. Ferrell Looper, and Rev. Jack Taylor officiating. Mrs. Holman died Monday, Feb. 3 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. She was a retired school teacher.
Mrs. Holman professed hope in Christ at age 9, was baptized, and joined the Freewill Baptist Church. She was a member of the Taylor's Seminary Freewill Baptist Church. She lived faithful to God as she could until her death.
Born August 9, 1911, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Virgal and Ann (Vaughn) Phipps. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Joesar Looper and Critt Holman; three brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Hoyt and Joanna Looper and Kyle and Helen Looper, all of Monterey; four step-children, Ruth and George Sessions of Nashville, D.C. and Frances Holman and William R. "Bill" and Ruth Holman, all of Cookeville, and Rev. David and Sharon Holman of Lander, WY; five sisters, Oda Pugh, Cora Tudor, and Ina Stevens, all of Monterey, and Letha Phillips and Delta Warren, both of Anderson, IN; 3 grandchildren, Denette Way and Terry Looper, both of Monterey, and Sherri Lee of Cookeville; 9 step-grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, Brittany Nichole Lee, Brandon Lee, and Angel Overstreet; and 12 step-great grandchildren.

LONNIE A. HOLT
Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie A. Holt, 79, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Halliburton officiating.
Mr. Holt died Sunday, Feb. 2 at Overton County Nursing Home. He was a certified public accountant for more than 50 years and a member of First Baptist Church. He also held membership in the VFW, American Legion, Jaycees, Lions Club, Rescue Squad, Fair Board, County Music Association, and the original Pioneer Days Committee. He was a former city alderman and a veteran of the United States Army.
Born Febuary 2, 1924, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Rockey Lee and Sarah Jane (Johnson) Holt.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Holt of Livingston; two daughters, Yvonne Davidson and Paula Kennedy, both of Livingston; two brothers, Udell Holt of Knoxville, and Ralph Holt of Memphis; three sisters, Lydia Brown and Lola Gunnels, both of Allons, and Dean Brown of Livingston; five grandchildren, Sherree Jolley, Steve Jolley, Allison Holt, and Caleb Kennedy, all of Livingston, and Emily Davidson of Cookeville; and three great grandchildren, Chelsea Jolley, Dalton Jolley, and Mason Jolley, all of Livingston.
Mr. Holt's nephews served as pallbearers.

WILMOTH E. JOHNSON
Funeral services for Mr. Wilmoth E. Johnson, 71, of Livingston, were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Gene Schmidt and Rev. Bob Vickers officiating.
Mr. Johnson died Thursday, Jan. 30 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a brick mason, a deacon at Memorial Baptist Church, and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Born June 6, 1931, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Milburn E. and Henrietta (Hunter) Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kioto Johnson; and a grandson, Matthew E. Kioto Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Johnson of Livingston; four sons, Steve Johnson and Larry Johnson, both of Houston, TX, Mike Johnson of Atlanta, GA, and Scott Johnson of St. Louis, MO; four brothers, Carvel Johnson of Akron, OH, Jeoffrey Johnson and R.L. Johnson, both of Allons, and Arvis Johnson of Cookeville; four sisters, Betty Lou Copeland of Rickman, Judy Padgett of Livingston, Mary Jo Denton of Cookeville, and Wanda Schultz of Lincoln, CA; and two grandchildren, April Michele Johnson and Landon E. Phillip Johnson.

JOHN GARLAND MURDOCK
Funeral services for Mr. John Garland Murdock, 51, of West Palm Beach, FL, were conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27 in Garrett cemetery with Bro. Rick Frazier officiating.
Mr. Murdock died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2002, in Miami, FL. He was a welder and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Born July 11, 1951, in Anderson, IN, he was the son of Bobby and Audrey (Badger) Murdock of Allons. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Velma Badger and John and Ethel Murdock.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a daughter, Michelle Murdock of Wildomar, CA; two sons, Charles Murdock and John Murdock, both of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Susan and Terry Robbins of Allons and Janice Murdock of Livingston; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Wendy Murdock of Dardanelle, AR; a grandson, Randy Evans; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other family members.
Pallbearers were David Murdock, Jason Murdock, Todd Bowman, Terry Robbins, Paul Robbins, and Carl Badger.

DONALD LUTHER PENNINGTON
Mr. Donald Luther Pennington, 58, of Rickman, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a carpenter and formerly a tire engineer.
Born August 9, 1944, in Overton County, he was the son of the late James and Annie (Spivey) Pennington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Pennington; and six brothers, Lester Pennington, Joe A. Pennington, Paul Pennington, Chester Pennington, Billy Pennington, and George Pennington.
Survivors include a daughter, Anna Randles of Rickman; two sons, Daniel Pennington and David Davis, both of Cookeville; two brothers, Amos Pennington of Detroit, MI, and Aron Pennington of Cookeville; two grandchildren, Kevin Randles and Keith Randles; and two former wives, Betty R. Davis of Cookeville and Linda G. South of Lockehaven, PA. With the family choosing cremation, no services have been held at this time.

BETTY JOANNA (BILBREY) SAVAGE
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Joanna (Bilbrey) Savage, 69, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Burial was in Liberty cemetery with Bro. Phillip Buck, Bro. Jerry Buck, and Bro. Bernard Barton officiating.
Mrs. Savage died Thursday, Jan. 30 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a factory employee for 44 years, working at Botany Shirt and Style Craft. Mrs. Savage was also a quilt maker.
Born November 25, 1933, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mattie Ray (McDonald) Bilbrey.
Survivors include her husband, James L. "Leck" Savage of Rickman; a daughter and son-in-law, Marla and J.D. Stevens of Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Linda Bilbrey of Rickman; a sister, Paula Sue Bilbrey of Monterey; four grandchildren, Jesse Stevens, Jonathan Stevens, Jed Stevens, and Maggie Stevens; and two great grandchildren, Mazy Stevens and Abby Stevens.
Pallbearers were Jesse Stevens, Jonathan Stevens, Jed Stevens, Phillip Wilson, Adam Hill, and Joey Green.
