EXETER, Va. - Elizabeth Ann Price Harding, 55, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday (Nov. 29, 2003) at Wellmont-Lonesome Pine Hospital at Big Stone Gap, Va.
Born in Imboden, Va., she was a lifelong resident of Exeter, Va. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron William Price and Myrtle Marie Horner Price.
Surviving are one son, Jeffrey Harding, Mt. Carmel, Tenn.; one daughter, Sheila Hamblin, Exeter, Va.; two granddaughters, Tesia Hall, Exeter, Va., and Faith Hamblin, Exeter, Va.; two grandsons, Shawn Hamblin, Exeter, Va., and Mikey Randolph, Exeter, Va.; six brothers, Ronnie Price, Port Clinton, Ohio, Harold "Butch" Price, Clarksville, Tenn., Bill Price, Big Stone Gap, Va., Robert "Pete" Price, Indianapolis, Ind., Jim Price, Exeter, Va., and Aaron Price Jr., Big Stone Gap, Va.; three sisters, Rita Robinette, Imboden, Va., Marlene Bush, Exeter, Va., and Merry Pease, Exeter, Va.; son-in-law, Mike Randolph, Exeter, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

KYLES FORD, Tenn. - Paul Hurd, 88, Route 2, Box 209, Fisher Valley Road, passed away Saturday (Nov. 29, 2003) at Sunbridge Hillside Nursing Home in Kingsport, following an extended illness.
He attended Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hurd farmed all of his life and was a lifelong resident of Kyles Ford.
He is survived by his wife, Kate Hurd, also of Sunbridge Hillside Nursing Home in Kingsport; son, Kenneth Hurd of Brian Center in Weber City, Va.; grandson, Jason Hurd of Church Hill; granddaughter, Michelle Shelton of Yuma, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Autumn Hurd, Tyler Shelton and Brooke Shelton; two sisters, Lorene Sizemore of Church Hill and Nancy Horton of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.

KINGSPORT - George Lampkins, 100, Church Hill, died Saturday (Nov. 29, 2003) at Brookhaven Nursing Home.
He was born in Sullivan County. He was of the Baptist faith and was saved when he was 95. He retired from the Tennessee Motor Lodge, where he was employed most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Lampkins; and first wife, Pearl Lampkins.
Surviving are his wife, Beulah Lampkins of Church Hill; one daughter, Georgia Russell and husband Bill of Kingsport; stepdaughter, Della France and husband Lynn of Church Hill; son, David Lampkins and wife Irene of Kingsport; stepson, Larry Skeen of Church Hill; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

BLOUNTVILLE - Mildred Mize Potts, 81, died Sunday morning (Nov. 30, 2003) at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, Tenn.
She was a native of Hart County, Georgia and had lived in Blountville since 1974.
She was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Annie Pruitt Mize; her husband, Robert L. Potts; and a sister, Paula Bennett.
Mrs. Potts was a member of First Baptist Church in Blountville, where she was active in the Senior Adult Ministry, the Senior Adult Choir and Sunday School. She was a member of Alpha-Omega Ministries and enjoyed bowling with the Bristol, Tennessee Senior Bowling League for many years.
She is survived by three daughters, Annette Crosby and husband Sam, Lakeland, Fla., Martha Potts, Blountville, Sandy Mills and husband Tom, Blountville; granddaughter, Ashley Mills, Blountville; sister, Caroline Chandler, Bowman, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Blountville, followed by the funeral service at 8 p.m. with Dr. Clay Austin officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of The Good Shepherd.

Born in Hawkins County, he had lived here his entire life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Steadman was a recipient of a Purple Heart.
He was a member of Saint Matthew United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivor and Georgia Nelms Steadman; one brother, Darce Steadman; and one sister, Emmogene Barker.
Surviving are his wife, Virgie E. Steadman, of the home; son, Dan Steadman of Johnson City and fiance' Linda Vinyard of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Richard L. BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Virdia Lee Bowman, 93, went to be with the Lord at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 31, 2004).
She was born on May 2, 1910 in Wise County, Va., where she had been a resident most of her life. Virdia was a member of the Irondale Faith Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Bowman in 1987; two sons, Jimmy R. Bowman in 1992 and Coy Lee Bowman (infant); her parents, John Hurd and Lydia Fisher Hurd; sisters, Margaret "Mag" Wells, Vinia Hurd, Gracie Robinette, Ella Gilley; and brother, Edward Hurd.
Surviving are her two daughters, Lydia Kay "Katie" Hawkins and husband Fred, Big Stone Gap, and Linda Ruth "Ruthie" Chandler and husband Billy of Big Stone Gap; three sons, Earskle "Huck" Bowman and wife Elizabeth of Big Stone Gap, Va., Kenneth Bowman and wife Sandra of Seminary, Va., and Danny Bowman and wife, Betty of Church Hill; daughter-in-law, Ruth Hensley of Gate City, Va.; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

William D. Carter, 65, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - William D. "Billy" Carter, 65, formerly of Brunswick County, N.C., died Thursday morning (April 1, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born in Garland, N.C., he resided in Brunswick County, N.C. for 20 years and moved to Kingsport in 2001. Mr. Carter retired in 1987 from Brunswick County Government, where he served as County Manager for several years. He was instrumental in the formation of the Lower Cape Fear Sewer and Water Authority. Mr. Carter served on the Brunswick County Board of Education.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
His father, Milton Carter preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Carter, Kingsport; one daughter, Leanne Potente and husband, Jim, Kingsport; two sons, Dale Carter and wife, Nancy Forsyth, Ill., Kenneth Carter and wife, Sherrie, Greenville, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and his mother, Margaret Carter, Garland, N.C.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
Burial will be in the Garland cemetery in Garland, N.C.
