KINGSPORT - Margaret Cox Cleek, 76, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday (March 31, 2004) at Wexford House after a long illness.
She lived in Kingsport her entire life and was an active member of Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Reuben Cox and Mary Brickey Cox; two sisters, Connie Ramsey and Ruby Myers; and a son, Charles Alan Cleek.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Cleek, Kingsport; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Ann and Phillip Carpenter, Knoxville, Kay and Zane Vanover, Kingsport; four grandchildren, Amanda Vanover, Kelly Vanover, Chris Carpenter, and Katie Carpenter.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Elias Dantas and Dr. Ira Howard officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

KINGSPORT - Ben F. Grills, Jr., 73, formerly of the Fordtown community, passed away Tuesday night (March 30, 2004) at Indian Path Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Born in Sullivan County, he had resided here all his life and was a graduate of Holston High School. Mr. Grills was a lifelong farmer.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ben F. Grills Sr. and Mary Grills, and a sister, Helen Riggs.
Surviving are one sister, Margaret B. Grills; one niece, Jill Rich and husband, Darrell; one nephew, Joe Riggs and wife, Becky; four grand-nephews, Garrett Rich, Alex Rich, Darren Riggs, and Ben Riggs; one brother-in-law, Jack T. Riggs; and special friend, Ruby Whaley, all of Kingsport.

KINGSPORT - Iris Cradic Grimes, 90, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday (March 28, 2004) at the Wexford House.
She was born in Hawkins County and lived in Daytona Beach, Fla., for over 20 years. She was a homemaker and was of the Protestant faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Grimes; and her parents, R.N. and Annie Bailey Cradic; one sister, Daisy Cradic; and two brothers, Homer Cradic and Lee Cradic.
Surviving are her brother, Noah R. Cradic, Kingsport; and also several nieces and nephews.

KINGSPORT/PENNINGTON GAP, Va. - Robert (Bob) Humbert, 79, passed away Tuesday (March 30, 2004) in the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
Mr. Humbert was a member and an Elder in the Monarch Independent Baptist Church in Woodway, Va.
Surviving are his wife, Glessie Humbert of Kingsport; one daughter, Rise' Eaton of Vancouver, British Columbia; one sister, Genieve Burke; one brother, Blaine Humbert; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at the Monarch Independent Baptist Church in Woodway, Va.
Services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at the church with Pastor Robert Overton officiating.

David Jackson, 63, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - David Max Jackson, 63, was called home during his sleep on April 1, 2004 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Born and raised in Seattle, Wash., Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, he moved to the East Coast having spent most of his adult life in Kingsport.
Mr. Jackson was the previous owner of Bison Industries and Kingsport Woodworks. He was the owner of Jackson Muscle Therapy Center in Kingsport. He was past vice president of the Northeast Tennessee Massage Therapy Association.
Prior to his illness, he was active in the ministry at Mercy Seat Ministries.
Mr. Jackson was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed water activities and the scenic mountains. He was an avid aquarium enthusiasts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Linley and Louise Jackson; and two brother, Don Odland Jackson.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jackson, of the home; daughters, Samara Elizabeth (Rose) Jackson, Kingsport, Simona Athalia Jackson, Gray and Debi Jackson, Nevada, a former Miss Las Vegas; son, Daniel Jackson, Nevada; sister, Lindee' Ann Shuecraft, Kingsport; brothers, Jack Jackson, Kingsport, Dean Carlton, Anacortes, Wash., Michael Harold-Burnett Jackson, Kingsport; nieces and nephews, Deborah May, Manchester, Tenn., Beth Marie Jackson, Peter Max Jackson, Kaylin Joy Jackson, Paul Fredrick Jackson, Kara Louise Jackson, all of Washington, James Gabriel Jackson, Michael Andrew Jackson, Benjamin Reuben Jackson, Jonathan David Jackson, all of Kingsport.

EWING, Va. - Henry Manning, 99, was born March 31, 1905 and passed away Thursday (April 1, 2004) at the Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va.
He was a retired railroad employee, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Payton and Jelina Manning; wife, Sallie Manning; six brothers, Herman, Ira, Ray, Charlie, Joe and Warren Manning; three sisters, Martha Wheat, Mary Frances and Helena Collins.
Surviving are two brothers, Leon Manning of Georgia and Lester Manning of Hancock County; one sister, Ruby Manning; four sisters-in-law, Christine, Mable, Ignes Manning and Ruby Yeary; and several nieces and nephews.

Floy Hutchins Martin, 95, of 443 Bay St., Mt. Carmel, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Thursday (April 1, 2004) at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol.

Carmel, John Hutchins and wife, Shirley, Kingsport, and Ray Hutchins, Bristol; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and special family to the Martins, Vickie Chafin, Brad Chafin, Chris, Cindy and Makenna Chafin, Rebecca and Trevor Smith.

KINGSPORT - Lillian Mae Miller, 82, of Oak Street, went to be with the Lord Wednesday (March 31, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and had been a secretary with Holston Defense. Lillian was a member of Maple Oaks Gospel Mission and a previous member of Sunny Side Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Trinkle Sr.; parents, Emory and Grace Smith; sister, Lucille Brown; brothers, Ernest Smith and Billy Ray Smith; and one son, Bruce Trinkle Jr.
Surviving are her daughters, Rose Marie Hunt, Orlando, Fla., and Vicki Jane Barker and husband Steve, Forest Hill, W.Va.; son, Wesley Miller and wife Brenda, Fall Branch; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jane Johnson and husband Gordon, Orlando, Fla.; special friend, Sue Mason, Kingsport; and a host of nieces, nephews and others surviving.

Ralph Moore, 83, Vinton, Va.
VINTON, Va. - Ralph B. "R.B." Moore, 83, of Goodview, passed away Thursday (April 1, 2004).
Mr. Moore served his country proudly during World War II serving in the U.S. Army 246 Coast Artillery Medical Detachment.
He is remembered for his fullness of life as Mr. Moore enjoyed being around people, taking special interest in young people teaching hundreds to water ski, including June Carter Cash.
A true believer in Christ, Mr. Moore was a member of Barnhardt Baptist Church since 1973.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Burrell Moore and Berta Lee Eversole Moore; a daughter, Davanna Lynn Moore; and a sister, Nancy Moore Ferguson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ester M. Moore; two sisters, Patty Paterson of Vinton, Va., and Mary Sue Hughes of Roanoke, Va.; a brother, Bill Moore; and many special godchildren. He is also survived by special brother-in-law, Roy Hobbs and his wife Hilda; special sister-in-law, Blanche Ferguson; numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends, neighbors, Special K and his dog Dreyfus.
