Services for Mrs. Florney M. Fields, 76, Gate City, Va., who entered into rest, Thursday (March 25, 2004), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating.
The Lee Smith Singers will provide the music.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at the Fields Family cemetery in the Midway community of Scott County, Va.

Harold "Buster" Ford, 68, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Harold M. "Buster" Ford, 68, 864 Harmony Rd., died Friday (March 26, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Ford was the son of the late Irene Brown and Fred M. Ford. He was a native and had lived all his life in Washington County, Tenn. Mr. Ford was of the Baptist faith. He had retired from the Washington County Highway Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Harold Mitchell Ford II in 1997.
Mr. Ford is survived by his wife, Janice "Jan" Ford, of the home; two daughters, Robin Sue Carver of Johnson City, Georgia F. Whitson of Jonesborough; three sons, Terry Wayne Carver and Dennis Lee Whitson, both of Johnson City, and Issac Baxter Whitson of Jonesborough; one foster son, John Edward Peters of Carter County; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several foster grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel and also anytime at the home.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev L.C. Tester officiating.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dale Fitzgerald, Darrell Fitzgerald, Donnie Willis, Bill Dickerson, Dennis Whitson and Issac Whitson.

BLACKWATER, Va. - Dora Glass passed away at 5:15 p.m. Friday (March 26, 2004).
Dora was born Dec. 6, 1914 in Blackwater, Va., and spent her entire life there. She attended Osborne Chapel Church in her early life.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; six sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include one son and wife, T.J. and Shirley Osborne, Johnson City; one grandson, Timothy Osborne, Jonesborough; one great-grandson, Alex Osborne, Jonesborough; one step-grandson, Mike Rowland, Kingsport; one step-granddaughter, Kathy Cox, Gray; three step-grandsons, Matt Rowland, Johnson City, Naaman and Aaron Cox, Gray.
The family wants to thank special caregivers, Toni Robinette and Carolyn Grace, for their help and kindness; special nephews, Jack Childress and Joe Robinette; special niece, Juanita Payne, for their kindness. A very special thanks to friends and neighbors in Blackwater. Also, thanks to the nurses and staff at L.C.C. Hospital. CHURCH HILL - Ursula Vivian Johnson, 87, of Main St., entered her heavenly home on Friday (March 26, 2004) after a few months of declining health.
She was born in Eidson, Tenn. After marrying, she moved to Oklahoma, later returning to Hawkins County. Mrs. Johnson lived several years in Rogersville before moving to Church Hill.
She was a member of West View Primitive Baptist Church, Kingsport.
Mrs. Johnson was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.
Awaiting her in heaven for the happy reunion are her husband, George B. Johnson; mother, Willie Lawson Price; father, Kyle Price; step-mothers, Callie Sizemore Price and Mollie Bowlin Price; sister, Charlsie Johnson; brothers, Odell Price and B.H. Price.

KINGSPORT - Tressie "Granny" Larimer, 77, died Tuesday (March 23, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a Baptist.
A son, Hubert Hurst; infants, Billie Jo and Ricky Allen; her parents, Blanche and Hugh Cole; and sister, Billie Barrett preceded her in death.

Paul Jr. Owens, 78, Lee County, Va.
LEE COUNTY, Va. - Paul Jr. Owens was born here in Lee County on Friday, May 8, 1925, and departed this life on Wednesday (March 24, 2004) at Holston Valley Medical Center at the age of 78.
He worked as a coal miner and also, worked in construction in Indiana. He lived most of his life in Lee County.
Paul is survived by two daughters, Jackie Laughton of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Pat Chapman of Ocala, Fla. He is also survived by five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Viva Owens of Sneedville, and Gladys Smith of Richmond, Ind.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Va.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. today in the sanctuary of the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Davis Jr. officiating.

NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Rev. Hershel Eugene Ramey, 74, of Nickelsville, Va., went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning (March 27, 2004) at his home.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea, a member of American Legion Post #265 of Gate City, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad in 1987.
He was a former pastor of First Baptist Church in Olinger, Va., and Hardy's Creek Baptist Church in Rose Hill, Va. He also served as an interim pastor for First Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap, Va. He was currently the pastor of Grassy Creek Union Church and attended First Baptist Church of Gate City, Va. He attended Tennessee Temple School in Chattanooga.
He enjoyed gardening and beekeeping.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter L. Ramey.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Jo Castle Ramey, Nickelsville; his mother, Nannie Jewel Blevins Ramey of Kingsport; three sisters, Lottie Smith and her husband Lee of Kingsport, Peggy Rutter and her husband Robert of Bristol, Va., and Nancy Horne and her husband David of Kingsport.
