Tressie Larimer, 77, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Tressie "Granny" Larimer, 77, died Tuesday (March 23, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a Baptist.

A son, Hubert Hurst; her parents, Blanche and Hugh Cole; and sister, Billie Barrett preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathy Lunsford, Kingsport, Sandy Pippin, Kingsport, Peggy Wilcox, Johnson City; one son, Jack Hurst, Hiddenite, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; half-brother, David Booth, Virginia; uncle, Roy Saults, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church cemetery with Pastor Terry Jones officiating.

John Herman Martin, 65, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - John Herman Martin, 65, died Friday (March 26, 2004) at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in New York, N.Y., he had been a resident of Hawkins County since 1995. Mr. Martin was self employed in the construction industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louisa Nagora Martin; sister, Joan Martin; brothers, Richard and Ted Martin.

Surviving are daughters, Louisa Martin Bryan and husband, Frank of Rogersville, Loretta Cranmer and husband Curtis of Florida; two sons, Jim Smith of New Jersey and Steve Martin of Florida; sisters, Louise, Betty Lou, Josephine, Georgiann and Lorraine; brothers, Tom, Bob, Joe, Henry, Charles, Eddie and Billy; sister-in-law, Karen Peterson; grandchildren, Jonathan, Jimmy, Kelly, Kevin, Jim, Jesse, Misty and Jo Kelley; and great-granddaughter, Jasmine.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville, is in charge.

Frank F. Phillips, 69, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - Frank F. Phillips, 69, of 783 Old Stage Road, passed away Friday (March 26, 2004) at his home following an extended illness.

Mr. Phillips was a native of Tarboro, N.C., and had lived in Church Hill since 1960. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill, and was a retired electrical engineer with AFG Industries.

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Army National Guard and was a former employee of the Justice Department. He was a member of the Gideon's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas and Louise House Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Grindstaff Phillips, Church Hill; one son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Gena Phillips, Jonesborough; one daughter, Cindy Phillips, of the home; one brother and sister-in-law, Alton and Suzanne Phillips, Clayton, N.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Nellie Mae and B.D. Williford, Windsor, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bryan Moore officiating.

Graveside services with military honors conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

The family requests those desiring to make memorial contributions to the Gideon's International, P.O. Box 846, Church Hill, Tenn. 37642.

Faye Price, 76, Lebanon, Va.
LEBANON, Va. - Faye Bernice Fields Price, 76, died Friday (March 26, 2004) in Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Born March 23, 1928 in Russell County, she was the daughter of the late Willie J. Fields and the late Oneida Price Fields. She was the wife of the late Curtis Burns (June) Price, Jr., who died March 7, 2004.

She was a member of the Bascom United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca (Becky) Gilbert and Jackie Gilbert and Pamela (Pam) Phillips and Jeff Phillips, all of Lebanon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis N. Price and Iva Price, Bristol, Va., and Chester Price and Rhonda Price, Lebanon; five grandchildren, Angie Chafin, Jessica Price, Sarah Price, Quentin Price, and Brandon Phillips; one great-granddaughter, Kesandra Chafin; five step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Clark, Orange, Va., and Patricia Martin, Unionsville, Va.; a brother, Dave Henry Fields, Bristol, Va.; also several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Combs Funeral Service.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Virgil Musick, the Rev. Richie Neese, and the Rev. Jason O'Neal officiating.

Burial will follow in the Price Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Quentin Price, Brandon Phillips, Jack Combs, Randy Fields, Randy Williams, and Robbie Kiser.

The men of the Bascom United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Combs Funeral Service is serving the family of Mrs. Price.

Lucille Ramey, 79, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Lucille Ramey, 79, Kingsport, who went to be with the Lord Tuesday (March 23, 2004), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet in the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. for that service.

Active pallbearers will be Travis Herron, Scott Weeks, David Puckett, David Clinton Puckett, Billy Winkle, Ray Cain, Derek Sims and Adam Hughes.

Oak Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wiley "Jim'' Reece, 59, Fall Branch.
FALL BRANCH - Services for Wiley J. "Jim" Reece, 59, of 145 Judge Baines Road, who passed away Wednesday (March 24, 2004), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Wallace officiating.

Burial will follow at the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Keith Garland, Ken Garland, Mike Hubbard, Glen Inscore, Terry Hopkins, Johnny Gordon, and Randall Wines.

Gladys Dykes Scalf, 78, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Services for Gladys Dykes Scalf, 78, who went to be with the Lord Thursday (March 25, 2004) will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Orville Dolen and Rev. Roy Darnell officiating.

Burial will follow at Hilltop Mission Church Cemetery.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Kingsport Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 3952, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664.

Neal S. Shanks Jr., 88, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Neal S. Shanks Jr., 88, died Thursday (March 25, 2004) at St. John's Health Care in Johnson City after an extended illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a retired farmer.

Mr. Shanks was a member of Hickory Cove Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal S. and Willie Alvis Shanks Sr.; sisters, Leona Hensley and Louise Shanks; and a brother, Clarence Shanks.

Surviving are one sister, Nettie L. Carpenter of Rogersville; two brothers, Willie Shanks and wife, Mable of Rogersville and H.C. Shanks and wife, Ruby of Oak Ridge; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Keith Bunch and the Rev. Basil Jones officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland Cemetery.

Bernice Templeton, 86, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Services for Bernice Taylor Egan Templeton, 86, of the Wexford House in Kingsport, who died on Saturday (March 20, 2004), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Roberts officiating.

Family members will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on today at the funeral home.

Following the funeral service, the body will be laid to rest in the Taylor cemetery at Fort Blackmore, Va., on a hill above her family home.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA Center of Excellence at Emory University School of Medicine), 1841 Clifton Road, Atlanta, Ga. 30329.

Danny Bailey, 85, Knoxville.
KNOXVILLE - Graveside services for Danny Bailey, 85, of Pressmen's Home in Hawkins County, who passed away Monday morning (March 22, 2004), will be conducted at at 11 a.m. today at Highland Cemetery.

Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, is in charge of arrangements.

George Barrett, 75, Kingsport.

KINGSPORT - Graveside services for George Arthur Barrett, 75, Kingsport, who went home to be with Jesus Tuesday (March 23, 2004), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Powers Cemetery, Robinette Valley community.

Family and friends will meet at the funeral home Friday at 11:45 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Craig Depew, Joey Davis, Danny Glover, Daniel Tate, Michael Rogers, Scott Sawyer, Michael McConnell and Charles Minnich.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Rogers, Jason Hickman and Jamie Hickman.

The family would like to thank all Home Care Nurses and Hospice Nurses who cared for Mr. Barrett.

Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lura Bishop, 83, Clinchport, Va.
CLINCHPORT, Va. - Lura Katherine Bishop, 83, of Clinchport and formerly of Rogersville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning (March 24, 2004) at Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Rye Cove. She enjoyed life to its fullest and was a very happy person.

Lura was a very loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Arlie Bishop; son, J.P. Bishop; daughter, Mae Bishop; great-granddaughter, Emily Grace LeAnn Akers; two sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are two sons, Artie Bishop and wife, Rhonda, with whom she made her home and Thomas George Bishop and wife, Brenda of Rogersville; five daughters, Maudie Ellen Cody of Kingsport, Beulah Faye Griffin of Chattanooga, Nova Lyda and husband, J.D. of North Carolina, Janie Helton and husband, Doug of Rogersville and Betty Trent and husband, Charles of Rogersville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Perry and Ola Gibson, both of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joe Hill and the Rev. Denny Hass officiating.

Singers will be Denny Hass and the Kerns Sisters, Jerry Perry and Eddie McCollough.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Chimney Top Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

James Croteau, 51, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - James William Croteau, 51, of 168 Ridgemont Road, passed away Wednesday (March 24, 2004) at his home following an extended illness.

Mr. Croteau was a native of Portsmouth, N.H. He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the 157th New Hampshire Air National Guard as a Senor Master Sgt. and was fuel superintendent.

He was Roman Catholic and loved working, fishing, hunting, softball, bowling, a wonderful husband, father, friend, son, brother and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Heidi Rumford Croteau, Church Hill; two sons and daughter-in-law, James W. Jr., and wife Sheana Croteau, Kingsport, Christopher Croteau and fiancée, April Barr, Church Hill; parents, Roland and Caroline Croteau, Gray; three grandchildren, Joshua, Christian and Alexis Croteau; three brothers, Arthur Coffey, Lee, N.H., Gerald Roy, Austin, Tex., and Joseph Croteau, Knoxville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at Saint Dominic's Catholic Church with Father Gregory officiating.

Burial will follow in Church Hill Memory Gardens with Military Rites.

Pallbearers will be James W. Croteau, Jr., Christopher D. Croteau, Arthur Coffey, John Palmer, Joseph S. Croteau and Larry Williams.

Johnson Funeral Home is serving the Croteau family.

Everett Davidson, 81, Church Hill.
Graveside services for Everett Ray "Pop" Davidson, 81, Church Hill, who went home to be with the Lord Wednesday (March 24, 2004), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Valley View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donald Davidsion, Terry Larkins, Nicholas Davidson, Jeff Dotson, Steve Begley and Wes Barrett.

Johnson Funeral Home, Church Hill, is serving the Davidson family.
