Wanda Davis, 84, Coeburn, Va.
COEBURN, Va. - Wanda Adkins Davis, 84, passed away Tuesday (March 23, 2004) at the home of her daughter in Bristol, Va.

She was the widow of Emitt Davis and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Ellen Laney Adkins; four sisters, Oma Fifer, Virgie Mullins, Carrie Burns and Effie Underwood.

Surviving are a daughter, Paula Jean Cowan of Bristol, Va.; two special friends, Frances Addington and Gerline Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sturgill Funeral Home, Coeburn, Va.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Marty Puckett officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Va.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Addington, Greg Addington, Jr. Harvey, Phillip Laney, Kenneth Hillman and Lincoln Keith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Ball, Arthur Adkins and Dr. A.R. Joshi.

Mary Ann Dingus, 71, Pound, Va.
POUND, Va. - Mary Ann Dingus, 71, passed away Thursday (March 24, 2004) at St. Mary's Hospital in Norton, Va., after an extended illness with her family by her side.

Mrs. Dingus was a member of LonePine Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Dingus; her parents, Horton Morgan and Nancy Webb Morgan; four sisters, Grace Keith, Ivalee Mullins, Betty Wardrup and Juanita Morgan; brothers, Arville Morgan and Coy Morgan.

Surviving are her husband, Clyde D. Dingus, Pound, Va.; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Mullins, Pound, Va., and Mary Judith Ring, Big Stone Gap, Va.; sons, David C. Dingus, Leburn, Ky., Terry L. Dingus, Wise, Va., and Randy A. Dingus, Coeburn, Va.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Swiney, Kingsport; brothers, Roy Morgan, Martinsville, Va., and Bill Morgan, Garrett County, Md.; a host of friends and loved ones.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home, Pound, Va., where an evening song service will be held at 7 p.m.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Carter officiating.

Interment will be at Dingus Family cemetery in Pound, Va.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Florney M. Fields, 76, Gate City, Va.
GATE CITY, Va. - Florney M. Fields, 76, entered into rest Thursday, March 25, 2004 at her residence.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Gate City Funeral Home.

Maryetta Hileman, 85, Harlan, Ky.
HARLAN, Ky. - Mrs. Maryetta Greene Hileman, 85, formerly of Rogersville, passed away Thursday (March 25, 2004) at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.

She was born Sept. 1, 1918 in Treadway, Tenn., to the late John Pettibone Greene and Mary Cantwell Greene. She was a homemaker and believed in the Baptist faith.

She and her husband Woodrow lived in Gettysburg, Pa., and in Silver Springs, Md. After the death of her husband, she moved to Rogersville, Tenn. In recent years, she had lived near her sister in Harlan.

She attended Lincoln Memorial University and East Tennessee State College and taught in Hawkins County, Tenn. schools.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Hileman; four brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by a sister, Madge Robinette and husband Frank of Harlan; two brothers, Ralph Greene and wife Hazel of Dixon, Tenn. and Grant Greene of Whitesburg, Tenn. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Otto Giles officiating.

Music will be provided by the Clinch River Quartet.

Burial will follow in the Bassett and Mayes cemetery in Mooresburg, Tenn. with nephews serving as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Anderson & Laws Funeral Home in Harlan, Ky., and Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville.

Jack G. Keith, 70, Pennington Gap, Va.
PENNINGTON GAP, Va. - Jack G. Keith, 70, passed away Saturday (March 20, 2004) at Lee Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

A lifelong resident of Lee County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bertie Keith; siblings, Beatrice Tiller, William Keith, James Keith and Betty Cridlin.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Margaret Jones Keith; daughter, Diane and husband Clay Williams of Roanoke; son, Bill and wife, Sharon Keith of Clintwood; grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Cole Williams, Keith Williams, Zachary Keith and Kaitlyn Keith; sister, Greta Benton of Big Stone Gap; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Keith received a B.S. degree in Biology from Lincoln Memorial University and an M.A. degree in Education from East Tennessee State University. As a former teacher, coach and principal, he spent his career working to improve educational opportunities for many Lee County students.

In addition to his career in education, Mr. Keith was a former owner of several Lee County businesses: Keith's Variety, Dorothy's Flowers, Keith Tours, and Jolly Jack's Fireworks. Additionally, he was a radio personality for over 25 years and was well-known for his weekly Saturday morning radio show "The Country Buddy Show."

Mr. Keith was a life-member of the Lee Jaycees, a member of the Mensa Society, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. As an active civic leader, he received numerous awards during his lifetime and will long be remembered for the generous contributions he made to his family, friends and community.

Mr. Keith's wishes were to be cremated.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Pennington Gap, Va.

Visitation will follow the services in the fellowship hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Monica Kennedy, Bristol, Va.
BRISTOL, Va. - Monica Lea Mumpower Armstrong Kennedy went to be with the Lord Thursday (March 25, 2004) and to see her daddy, Roy B. Mumpower, her loving mamaw, Minnie Mullins, her sister, Cindy Mumpower and nephew, Roy Michael "Punkin" Mumpower, Jr. who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Jeff Kennedy; a daughter, Kelly Michelle Armstrong of Abingdon, Va.; a son, James Brandon Armstrong of Saltville, Va.; her wonderful and precious grandson, Tanner Armstrong; her first husband, James Dennis Armstrong of Saltville, Va.; her mother and stepfather, Revonda and Russell Cassell of Bristol, Va.; four sisters, Lisa Barker of Bristol, Va., Vickie Arnold of Bristol, Tenn., Tammy Stanley of Clintwood, Va., Joy Henderson of Kingsport; two brothers, Mike "Sput" Mumpower of Bristol, Va. and Rickey "Whistle" Mumpower of Meadowview, Va.; stepbrother, Rusty Cassell of Glade Spring, Va.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peggy and Hulen Thomas of Abingdon, Va.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Farris Funeral Home, Abingdon, Va.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronnie Blevins and Herman Widener officiating.

Burial will follow in the Wideners Valley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rick Edmiston, Wesley Barker, Chris Barker, R. J. Mumpower, Eric Keen and Joshua Mumpower.

Jerry Todd Koslow, 38, Blountville.
BLOUNTVILLE - Jerry Todd Koslow, 38, departed this life on Thursday (March 25, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He left this life for a new home with his Heavenly Father.

Todd graduated from Sullivan South High School in 1983. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a self-employed journeyman electrician and was a member of the Local I.B.E.W. Union.

Todd will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Mike Fleenor, Collierville, Tenn.; father and stepmother, Jerry and Faye Koslow, Kingsport; stepfather, Sherryll Tunnell, Blountville; sisters, Terri Koslow Wood, Winston-Salem, N.C., Kelly Tunnell Morrow and Heather Tunnell Cupp, both of Collierville, Tenn.; two brothers, beloved brother and best friend, Nat Tunnell, Blountville and Shane Tunnell, Blountville; six nephews; five nieces; and a host of good friends.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mike Beverley officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gunnings Cemetery. Family and friends are requested to meet at 10:50 a.m. Saturday at the cemetery for the graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Donald Wayne Pickle Jr., Donald W. Pickle III, Shane Daughtery, Terry Lynn Tabor, Mark Addleburg and Nat Tunnell.

Tressie Larimer, 77, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Tressie "Granny" Larimer, 77, died Tuesday (March 23, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a Baptist.

A son, Hubert Hurst; her parents, Blanche and Hugh Cole; and sister, Billie Barrett preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathy Lunsford, Kingsport, Sandy Pippin, Kingsport, Peggy Wilcox, Johnson City; one son, Jack Hurst, Hiddenite, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; half-brother, David Booth, Virginia; uncle, Roy Saults, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Lola F. McDavid, 93, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Lola F. McDavid, 93, passed away Wednesday (March 24, 2004) at Outlook Pointe.

She was a member of Heritage First Church of God.

Mrs. McDavid was preceded in death by four sisters, Otley Drinnon, Ethel Barnett, Mary Davis and Ellen Hall; and two brothers, Carroll Lawson and Fred Burgin.

Surviving are her husband, Harry McDavid; a daughter, Jean Fletcher; a stepson, Kenneth McDavid and wife Randi of Ohio; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Virgie Arnold; two brothers-in-law, Elmer Hall and Emory Davis; a sister-in-law, Betty Lawson; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Tilley officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow immediately in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be the men of Heritage First Church of God.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. McDavid's honor to Adventa Hospice, 2612 N. John B. Dennis, Suite 3, Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.

Lucille Ramey, 79, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Lucille Ramey, 79, went to be with the Lord Tuesday (March 23, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Mrs. Ramey was born in Sullivan County and had resided most of her life in the Kingsport area. She was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church.

Lucille was a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Dora Dykes.

Surviving are five daughters, Shirley Ramey, Darlene Lark, Mildred McGhee, Hazel Sexton and Dora Sims; four sons, Clinton Ramey, Earnest Ramey, Dennis Ramey and Ray Ramey; two special grandchildren, Travis Herron and Ginger Hughes; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Conkin; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Marvin Winkle, the Rev. Kelly Dykes and the Rev. Clint Ramey officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet in the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. for that service.

Active pallbearers will be Travis Herron, Scott Weeks, David Puckett, David Clinton Puckett, Billy Winkle, Ray Cain, Derek Sims and Adam Hughes.

Wiley "Jim'' Reece, 59, Fall Branch.
FALL BRANCH - Wiley J. "Jim" Reece, 59, of 145 Judge Baines Road, passed away Wednesday (March 24, 2004) at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was a native of Carter County and had resided in Fall Branch since 1983. He was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his father, Lawrence Reece; stepfather, Atlee Brown; and a special niece, Angela Reece.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Reece, of the home; three daughters and a special son-in-law, Cynthia Reece, of the home, Tonya and Eddie Speers, Jonesborough, Tina Reece Brown, Johnson City; one son, Glen Reece, Elizabethton; a special granddaughter and his number "1" buddy, Anastashia Speers, Jonesborough; two grandchildren, Judy Reece and Jared Reece, Elizabethton; his wonderful mother, Cynthia Brown Butler; one sister, Bonnie Reece, Butler; one brother, Ernest Reece, Butler; one nephew, Alan Reece, Butler; one great-nephew, Dakota Reece; and all of his wonderful and special friends who loved him dearly.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes and anytime at the home.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fall Branch Chapel with Rev. Victor Wallace officiating.

Burial will follow at the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Keith Garland, Ken Garland, Mike Hubbard, Glen Inscore, Terry Hopkins, Johnny Gordon, and Randall Wines.
