Charlie Clark, 85, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - Charles (Charlie) Patton Clark, 85, of Ross Campground, went home to be with the Lord late Thursday night (Dec. 2, 2004) at Brookhaven Manor following an extended illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Ross Campground community. Charlie was in World War II, serving with the U.S. Army with the rank of Private First Class earning the Purple Heart three times. He served in the 17th Airborne Division with the Glider Outfit.

Charlie retired from Penn-Dixie with over 41 years of service as an electrician. He loved to make walking canes. Mr. Clark attended Ross Campground United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lawson Clark; a son, Robert Clark; a grandson, C.L. Clark; parents, J.W. Clark and Bessie Calhoun Clark; five sisters, Mattie L. Brooks, Elizabeth Mullins, Lula Tranbarger, Edith Arnott and Margaret Mullins; two brothers, Edward Clark and William Clark.

Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Dye; a son, Ronnie Clark and his wife, Yolanda; several grandchildren; two brothers, J.C. Clark and his wife Jimmie Louise, all of Ross Campground, Paul Clark and his wife Roberta, Kingsport; a special friend, Jessica Doran, Surgoinsville; along with several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill or friends may also call anytime at the daughters reisdence.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Fred Freeman and the Rev. Doug Harris officiating.

Burial with military rites will be conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard following the funeral at Ross Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The cremains of his beloved wife, Pat will be interred at the same time with Charlie.

Pallbearers wil be members of the Hawkins County Color Guard.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Clark, Paul Clark, Gene Clark, Don Brooks, Leonard Boyd, Curtis Hammonds and Bill Mullins.

A special thanks go out to all employees of Brookhaven Manor that touched his life.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill is sreving the Clark family.

Marie M. Coates, 74, Bristol, Tenn.
Graveside services for Marie M. Coates, 74, Bristol, who went to be with the Lord Wednesday (Dec. 1, 2004), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, is in charge of arrangements.

Mayme Darnell, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Mayme Jones Darnell went home to be with the Lord at 8:12 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 2, 2004) at her residence.

Friends may call anytime at the residence of the son, Keith D. Darnell.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and are under the direction of East Lawn Funeral Home.

Georgia F. Davis, 89, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Georgia F. Davis, 89, died Friday morning (Dec. 3, 2004) at Wexford House after an extended illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Davis was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death was her husband, E. E. "Cat" Davis.

Surviving are two daughters, Shelby Meade, Kingsport, and Nancy Williams and husband Ralph, Kingsport; two grandchildren, Mitzie Douglas, Gregory Douglas and wife, Jacqueline, and great-grandson, Tyler Douglas; two sisters, Mina Bea Forbes, Kingsport, and Pauline Ketron, Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens with Rev. Al South officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Beulah Baptist Church, 491 Beulah Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.

Diane Jessee Edens, 40, Duffield, Va.
Services for Diane Jessee Edens, 40, Duffield, Va., who passed away on Wednesday (Dec. 1, 2004), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., with the Rev. Joe Roberts and Evangelist Garry Hood officiating.

Music will be provided by Working Toward the Promise.

Burial will follow at the Cox Chapel Church Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Maloy "Howard" Ervin, 71, Gate City, Va.
GATE CITY, Va. - Maloy "Howard" Ervin, 71, of Route 1, Manville community, passed away Thursday (Dec. 2, 2004) at his residence.

He was born in Scott County on Nov. 17, 1933 and was the son of the late Wright and Monnie Musick Ervin. Mr. Ervin was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgie Mae Darnell Ervin in June 1999; stepmother, Fannie Finch Ervin; sister, Ruth Qualls; and brother, Don Ervin.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, David and Debbie Casteel Ervin, Gate City, Va.; grandson and wife, Calvin and Amber Williams, Gate City, Va.; great-grandchildren, Karsyn, Tanner, and Cassie Williams; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Edwards, Shirley and Jim Fields, Lorene and James Carter all of Gate City, Va; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Hazel Ervin, Gate City, Va.; special friends, Shirley Lawson, Charlie Ervin, Jack Carter, and Virginia Grizzle, all of Gate City, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va. and other times at the residence.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m. with Rev. Willie Neeley and Rev. Tommy Holder officiating. Music will be provided by The Holder Family.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Ervin Cemetery, Ervin Town community. Serving as pallbearers will be Calvin Williams, Mike Edwards, Doug Edwards, Eddie Carter, Larry Fields, Daryl Edwards, Kelly Sexton, Scotty Fansler. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Poole, Tony Grizzle, Rick Fansler, Junior Leonard, Greg Fields, Bobby (Pedro) Poole, and Dillon Grizzle.

The family will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Imogene "Jean" Ferguson, Gray.
GRAY - Imogene "Jean" League Ferguson, Gray, formerly of Jonesborough, went home to be her Lord and Savior and reunited with her Mother and Father on Dec. 3, 2004, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer at her home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City.

Paul Edwin Fugate, 74, Nickelsville, Va.
NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Paul Edwin Fugate, 74, of Route 2, went to be with the Lord Thursday (Dec. 2, 2004) at Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was born in Scott County on May 10, 1930 and was the son of the late Robert and Minnie Harris Fugate. He retired from AFG Industries.

Mr. Fugate was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Moore Fugate in October 1977; and his daughter, Joyce Marie Fugate in September, 1998, both whom he loved and missed very much; sister-in-law, Marie Parks Fugate.

Surviving are his sister, Ruth Fugate Baker, Kingsport; brother, J.B. Fugate, Nickelsville, Va.; nieces and their husbands, Charlotte and David Atchley, Susie and Jerry Lawson, Kathy and Mark Duval, Anita and Ken Bates, and Donna and Mike Stallard, all of Kingsport; nephews and their wives, Jim and Joy Baker, Bobby and Sherry Baker, J.M. and Pattie Baker, all of Kingsport; several great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. J.M. Baker and Rev. G.W. White officiating.

Music will be provided by The Easterling Family and special friends, Glen Owens, Joe Good, and Junior Compton.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Holston View Cemetery. The family will meet at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Baker, Bob Baker, Travis Baker, Glen Owens, Rayford Dingus, Junior Compton, and Joe Good.

Don Gilliam, 65, Gate City, Va.
GATE CITY, Va. - Committal services for Don Gilliam, 65, of the Daniel Boone community of Gate City, who died Wednesday morning (Dec. 1, 2004), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at the Merdie Bishop cemetery in Jasper, Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for procession to the cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The Duffield Funeral Home at Thomas Village is in charge of arrangements.

Richard L. Hamby, Springfield, Ark.
April 24, 1947-Nov. 28, 2004

SPRINGFIELD, Ark. - Richard L. "Bone" Hamby went to be with his Lord on Sunday, November the 28th at Northwest Arkansas Medical Center after battling a lengthy illness.

His former wife and lifetime friend, Jerri Hamby, was by his side.

He was born in Kingsport and was the son of Simon P. and Natalie S. Hamby. After graduation from Lynn View High School in 1965, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965-1969. Moving to Eureka Springs in 1977, he was co-founder of Paradise Greenhouse and Landscaping in 1980.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sandra H. Woods.

Surviving are Gerri Hamby; five children, Shawn and husband Kevin Caldwell of Severn, Md., Donna and husband Damon Hunley of Chesterfield, Va., Jonathan and wife Vivian Hamby of Springdale, Ark., Emily Rose and husband Michael Efirt of Springdale, Ark., and Harley Thomas Hamby of Eureka Springs, Ark.; five grandchildren, Tyler Caldwell, Jordan Caldwell, Stephen Efirt, Madyson and Cameron Hunley; one sister, Debi and husband Robert Coffman of Church Hill; one brother, R. Scott Hamby of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Paradise Mountain in Arkansas.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Helen Sue Johnson, 76, Jonesville, Va.
JONESVILLE, Va. - Helen Sue Johnson, 76, went to be with the Lord Dec. 2, 2004 at the Lee Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pennington Gap, Va. after a lengthy illness.

She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Jonesville, Va.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Quentin Johnson; her parents, Charlie and Birdie Hopkins; four brothers, Allen, Bob, Elmer and George Hopkins; and two sisters, Hazel Edens and Grace Minor.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Shannon Johnson of Jonesville, Va.; one sister, Opal Jones of Tipton, Ind.; two step-grandsons, Barry Cottrell of Jonesville, Va., and Garry Cottrell of Berea, Ky.; three step-grandchildren, Chasie and Colie Cottrell of Jonesville, Va., and Bailey Cottrell of Berea, Ky.; special nieces, nephews and a host of friends and acquaintances.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville, Va.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Doug Clem and the Rev. Jim Hubbard officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va.

Knoxie Johnson, 79, Lebanon, Va.
LEBANON, Va. - Knoxie Salyer Johnson, 79, died Friday (Dec. 3, 2004) in the Maple Grove Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 27, 1925 in Russell County, she was the daughter of the late Julie Salyer and was the wife of the late Fred S. Johnson. A graduate of Lebanon High School, she was a member of Free Hill Baptist Church and attended Bethany United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Bostic, Castlewood; niece, Kathryn Campbell and husband Ted; great-nieces, Mary Thomas and husband Buddy and Martha Steele and husband Billy; great-great-nieces, Katlyn Steele, Kelly Steele and Carrie Thomas, all of Castlewood; special caregivers, Betty Irvin, Phyllis Sims and LeAnn Price.

The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. today at Combs Funeral Service and at the home of Mrs. Johnson at anytime.

Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Beavers and the Rev. Aaron Pierce officiating.

Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Hartsock, Bobby Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Tony Davis, David Puckett, June Bevins, Ronnie Bevins and Brian Hartsock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul McNew, Floyd Salyer, Jimmy Webb, Trigg Fields, Fred Garrett, Terry Webb and Paul Jessee.

Lonnie Johnson, 64, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Graveside services for Lonnie Johnson, 64, who passed away Wednesday (Dec. 1, 2004), will be held at 11 a.m. today at Highland Cemetery.

Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville is in charge of arrangements.

David Lynn Lawson, 42, Wise, Va.
WISE, Va. - David Lynn Lawson, 42, passed away Friday (Dec. 3, 2004) at the St. Mary's Hospital in Norton, Va.

He was a graduate of Coeburn High School, graduate of Mountain Empire Community College and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

Surviving are his father, Hager Lawson, Coeburn, Va.; mother and stepfather, Virginia Mae and Johnny Miller, Athens, Tenn.; grandmother, Mary Lawson, Wise, Va.; his fiancee, Donna Johnson, Wise, Va.; a sister, Leatha Lawson, Denton, N.C.; a special niece, Desary Lawson.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church of one's choice or to the charity of one's choice.

At Mr. Lawson's request, he will be cremated.
