Graveside services for Jack (J.D.) Persinger, 73, Kingsport, a devoted husband, father and papaw, who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday (Nov. 30, 2004), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:55 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Howard Monday, George Williams, Skip Johnson, Billy Winkle, Michael Persinger, Shannon Rhoton, Jamie King and Harry Sykes.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Whittamore, Josh Whittamore and Jamie Lane.

Eric Stevens Rozier, Kingsport.
CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Eric Stevens Rozier, formerly of Raleigh, N.C., passed away Wednesday (Nov. 24, 2004) in Cullowhee, N.C., after a long period of declining health.
He was born May 21, 1951 in Kingsport. Eric attended St. Dominic's Parochial School for eight years before going on to graduate from Dobyns-Bennett High School. After graduation from high school he attended NC State, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in history and was a member of Sigma Chi.
Eric received his MBA from Bristol College and attended the University of Tennessee as a graduate student in history.
He had a long career with various manufacturing firms in Purchasing and Materials Management. He retired several years ago due to declining health.
He was currently on a teaching fellowship at Western Carolina University where he was pursuing a masters degree in Public History.
Eric loved coaching soccer and playing virtually any musical instrument he could get his hands on, including the guitar, harmonica, and piano.
He was a devoted and loving father.
Mr. Rozier was preceded in death by his father, Bill Rozier; and step-father, Bob Adams.
He is survived by his children, Jessica Frost Rozier of Wilkesboro, N.C., Sarah Clinton Rozier of Apex, N.C., and William Stevens Rozier of Charleston, S.C.; his mother, Peet Rozier Adams of Kingsport; his brother, Butch Rozier and wife Lou of Pittsboro, N.C.; his sisters, Suzy Rozier of Kingsport and Maryanne Rozier Chiriboga and family of Brea, Ca.; his step-brothers, Robert Adams and family of Richmond, Ky., and Mike Adams and family of Kingsport; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Burton and Rev. Les Schmidt officiating.
The family will welcome friends from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eric Rozier Children's Fund in care of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 2517 John B. Dennis Hwy., Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.
Ruby Johnson Ryans, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Ruby Johnson Ryans, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday (Dec. 2, 2004) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Wytheville, Va., and had resided in Kingsport all her life.
Mrs. Ryans had worked at The Little Store and Oakwood Bakery for several years.
She attended Gospel Mission Church.
Her parents, Robert McKinley Brown and Willie Lee Brown; and a sister, Helen Pauline Brown preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Brad C. (Bill) Ryans, Kingsport; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn (Kay) Browder and John C., Kingsport; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby L. Johnson and Sandra, Kingsport; one grandson, Robert Alan Browder and wife Kim, who are very special to Bam-Bam and Grandpa; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Raymond Amos officiating.

Graveside services for Mattie Lee Stapleton, 85, of Route 2, Nickelsville, Va., who passed away Tuesday (Nov. 30, 2004), will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at Holston View Cemetery. The family will meet at the funeral home at 9:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Virginia Elizabeth Tritt Stout passed away Wednesday (Dec. 1, 2004) at the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister and a strong woman. She was a homemaker and a retired CNA from National Health Care. She was a wonderful caregiver not only to her patients but also to their families and her co-workers.
She was born in Lee County, Va., Aug. 18, 1928, to Kemp and Ruby Delph Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Everette Tritt; second husband, Raymond B. Stout; and a sister, Connie S. Morelock.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. Tritt of Bristol, Tenn.; seven daughters, Glenda Venable and husband Ron of Kingsport, Joyce Camper and husband Ron, Sandra Hunt and husband Robert, Rita Teaster and husband Norman, Rhonda Woodby and her fiancé, Steve Mullins, all of Bristol, Thelma Delaney and husband Timothy of Panama City, Fla., and Teresa Sherman and husband Leonard of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Jean Asbury of Blackwater, Va., Marie Meadows of Virginia Beach, Va., and Betty Gilley of Gainsboro, Tenn. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; six stepdaughters; three stepsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Weaver Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with her granddaughter and her husband, Captains Joe and Melissa Irvin of the Salvation Army, and the Rev. Dennis Burnette officiating.
Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Eula Mae Bloomer, 93, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Eula Mae Bloomer, 93, of 1022 Borden St., formerly of Rogersville, passed away Wednesday (Dec. 1, 2004) following a brief illness.
She was retired from J.P. Stevens Co.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence H. and Fannie Elizabeth Wolfe Bloomer; four brothers, Gene, Clarence Jr., Horace, Sam Bloomer; three sisters, Alice Hilton, Nora Stapleton, Elsie Spradlin.
She is survived by three sisters, Gladys Spivey of Kingsport, Joyce Fain of Rogersville, Louise Williams of Kingsport; three sisters-in-law, Jewel Bloomer of Johnson City, Opal Bloomer, Flogene Bloomer, both of Rogersville; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charlie Everhart officiating.
Interment will follow in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
Gregory Cantrell, 55, Big Stone Gap, Va.
BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Gregory Dean Cantrell, 55, passed away on Tuesday (Nov. 30, 2004) after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
He was a loving and devoted son, father, husband and friend who exemplified living a life of Christian love.
Greg was an elder in the Gladeville Presbyterian Church in Wise, Va., where he also taught Sunday school and was a youth leader. He was employed as an oncology pharmacist at the Wellmont Southwest Regional Cancer Center in Norton, Va.
Greg received a BA degree from Clinch Valley College and taught school in Wise County for several years before entering Virginia Tech to further his studies in foreign language, French, German and Spanish. He also studied French at the American University of Paris. He received his pharmacy degree from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University and his Juris Doctor (J.D.-Law) degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. In addition to his work as a pharmacist at several health care institutions in Southwest Virginia, he taught pharmacology and law courses at Mountain Empire Community College and the University of Virginia College at Wise. He was a certified diabetes educator and was a volunteer instructor for diabetes education classes in Lee, Scott, Russell and Wise counties as well as assisting many individually in understanding and managing their diabetes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Cantrell.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Cantrell; children A1C Stephen Christopher Cantrell of Whiteman AFB, Missouri, Emily Forrest Cantrell, David Julian Cantrell and Daniel Gregory Cantrell, all of Big Stone Gap, Va.; his mother, Edith Baker Cantrell, Pound, Va.; one brother, Christopher Cantrell, Pound, Va.; lifelong friend, Frank Gentry, Big Stone Gap and good friends, too many to count.

ROGERSVILLE - Margaret Ann Cinnamon, 62, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning (Dec. 1, 2004) at Wellmont Hawkins County Hospital after an extended illness.
She was a member of East Rogersville Baptist Church. She was retired from BASF after 29 years of service where she was active in the United Way.
She was also a past president of Holston River Chapter of American Business Women's Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Randa Heck Byrd; four brothers, Earnest Byrd, Richard Byrd, Charles Byrd and W.G. Byrd Jr.
Surviving are her loving husband of 43 years, Frank Cinnamon, of the home; two brothers, Rev. Grady Byrd, Adkins, Va., and George Byrd, Indianapolis, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

BRISTOL - Marie M. Gilliam Coates, 74, went to be with the Lord Wednesday (Dec. 1, 2004) at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center with her family by her side following a brief illness.
She was the wife of Bill Coates whom she married
on Dec. 24, 1951.

Verlin Crawford, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Verlin A. Crawford passed away Wednesday (Dec. 1, 2004) at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born in Hawkins County, lived most of his life in Kingsport, and attended Sullivan High School.
Verlin served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone.
He retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 37 years of service.
Verlin was an avid golfer and hunter and loved to go fishing with his grandsons who referred to him lovingly as "Buddy".
His father and mother, Carl and Bertha Crawford, and two brothers, Kenny and Joe Crawford, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Paula, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Libby and Michael Cradic, Kingsport; two grandsons, Michael Devin Cradic and Andrew Logan Cradic; five brothers, Carl Crawford, Maryland, Cleo Crawford, Nashville, Cecil Crawford, Elmer Crawford, and Jackie Crawford, all of Kingsport; also a special mother-in-law, Charlene Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.
