BRADENTON, Fla. - Emily Rush Barlow, 85, died Sunday (Nov. 28, 2004) at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, Fla..
Miss Barlow was a native of Knoxville, a former resident of Johnson City and had lived in Bradenton, Fla., for the past several years.
She was a daughter of the late James Stanley Barlow Sr. and Emily Taylor Miller Barlow and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Barlow Parks and Grace Barlow.
Miss Barlow is survived by one brother, Dr. J. Stanley Barlow Jr., Leonia, N.J.; and one sister, Sanna Barlow Rossi, Bradenton, Fla.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery, Johnson City. The Rev. J. Stanley, Jr. will officiate.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery.

Jimmie Brewer, 71, Mendota, Va.
MENDOTA, Va. - Mr. Jimmie Lawrence Brewer, 71, died Tuesday (Nov. 30, 2004) at the home of his son.
Born on June 21, 1933 in Washington County, Va., Jim was a son of the late John Wilson Brewer and Mary Hall Brewer. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nettie Thomas; and brothers, Dewey Brewer, Clyde Brewer, and Junior Brewer.
Jim was a devout Christian and was a lifelong farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Whaley Brewer; a son, Stephen "Doc" Brewer and a very special daughter-in-law, Brenda Brewer of Abingdon; a daughter, Catherine Widener of Bristol, Va.; three brothers, Charlie Brewer of Abingdon, Donald Brewer of Lebanon, Va., and Paul Brewer of Bristol, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Shawn Brewer, Ryan Brewer, April Mahoney and Amanda Blevins; also surviving are nine great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, Va.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Main Street Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Sam Haynes officiating.
Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove cemetery in Mendota.
Casket bearers will be Shawn Brewer, Bryan Brewer, Brandon Mahoney, Virgil Wise, Butch Murray, Johnny Wardle, Vernon Helton and Sherman Pippin.
Honorary casket bearers will be Charlie Whaley, Darrell Kern, Creed Dye, and his friends and neighbors of the Mendota community.

Mrs. Christian was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Christians Bend Free Will Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Christian; her parents, James and Isabelle Dykes Caldwell; sisters, Frankie Kincheloe, Ruth Christian and Willie Smith; stepson, Demas Christian; and son-in-law, Dwayne Arnold.

He was a native of Washington County, Tenn., and had lived most of his life in the Gray community. He was the son of the late George and Catherine Chandler Fitzgerald.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Jean Fitzgerald of Gray; three sons, Nathan and wife Leah Rogers, Jamie Rogers, and Shawn Fitzgerald, all of Gray; one sister, Jenny Fitzgerald of Elizabethton; and one grandson, Austin "A.J." Rogers; special friend, Chris McLain; and special sister-in-law, Mary Presnell.

GATE CITY, Va. - Gertrude "Trudy" Gillenwater, 89, passed away Monday (Nov. 29, 2004) at Indian Path Medical Center.
She was born in Scott County on June 29, 1915, the daughter of the late K.M. and Pearl Quillen Lane. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Gillenwater was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church.
She was a loving wife, mother, and sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Gillenwater in 1987; brothers, Herman Quillen Lane and Claude W. Lane. Surviving are her daughter, Debra Gillenwater, Gate City; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gate City United Methodist Church.
Services will be conducted at the church at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Wyrick officiating.
