ROGERSVILLE - Services for Albert (Abb) Burns, 48, who went to be with the Lord Sunday morning (Jan. 30, 2005), will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, with the Rev. Mark Starnes officiating.

Interment will follow in the Providence (County Line) Cemetery.

Junior F. Butler, 80, Mount Carmel.
MOUNT CARMEL - Services for Junior F. Butler, 80, who went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon (Jan. 30, 2005), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill with Dr. Cecil Sturgill officiating.

Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Graveside services will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Mc-New, Mark Butler, Randy Fillers, Charlie White, Scottie Mallett and Joe Crawford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Cobb and Jim Trent.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to his good neighbors and the 2nd floor nurses at Wellmont for their loving care.

Eula M. Conklin, 75, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Eula M. Conklin, 75, passed away Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Wise County, Va., she had lived in Kingsport since 1971 and was of the Baptist faith.

She was the daughter of C. Fred Snodgrass and Pearl Frazier Snodgrass. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Conklin in 1971; an infant sister, Velma; and a brother, C. Sidney Snodgrass.

She is survived by four sons, Christopher Conklin, of the home, Charles Conklin, Knoxville, Steven Conklin and wife, Lynn, Cathedral City, Calif., and Tom Conklin and wife, Donna, Weber City, Va.; two daughters, Mary Ann Conklin Reed and husband, Rodney, Cathedral City, Calif., and Caryn Conklin-Hawthorne and husband, Mike, Knoxville; sisters, Laura Grasham, Wise, Va., and Mavis Light, Mary Little, and Doris Snodgrass, all of Kingsport; two brothers, Albert Snodgrass and wife, Betty, Marion, Ill., and Carl Snodgrass and wife, Louise, Wise, Va.; special sister-in-law, Wanda Snodgrass; and grandchildren, Jon and Jennifer Conklin, Jessica and Jackie Conklin, Claire Hawthorne, Eamon and Dylan Conklin.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Hawthorne officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Carl Snodgrass, Scott Snodgrass, Duane Snodgrass, Phil Snodgrass, Rodney Reed, and Mike Hawthorne.

Honorary pallbearer will be Albert Snodgrass.

Peter Day, 48, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Peter Day, 48, Kingsport, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 1, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a two and a half year battle with cancer.

His parents, Newell and Rosina Day of England preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Lockie Day, Kingsport; two sisters, Angela Day, England, and Beverley Lane and husband Dennis, Kingsport; brother, Christopher Day, England; mother and father-in-law, Mary Lee and Gene Coleman, Maryville, Tenn.; nephew, Kevin Marshall and wife Kristen, Johnson City; nieces, Janice Harbour and Tasmyn Smith and husband Dom, all of England, Amy Nash and Candice Nash, Atlanta, Ga.; sister-in-law and husband, Lucy and Joe Nash, Atlanta, Ga.

Calling hours are from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dale Wyrick officiating.

Kenneth R. Dolen, 79, Kingsport.
This is the day which the Lord hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

KINGSPORT - Kenneth R. Dolen, 79, went home to be with the Lord Monday (Jan. 31, 2005).

Kenneth was born Oct. 3, 1925, in Sullivan County and was the son of Minnie Churchwell Dolen and Charles Nelson Dolen. He lived his entire life in Sullivan County and was a graduate of Sullivan High School.

Mr. Dolen was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II in the South Pacific. He was awarded several medals.

After working for 25 years with the Mead Corporation, he retired due to health reasons.

Kenneth was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church where he was active in many ministries. He was ordained and served as a lifetime deacon.

Kenneth Dolen loved God, his family, his church, and his country. In return, he was much loved by his family, church, and community.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Minnie and Charles Dolen; his son, Mark R. Dolen; his brother, Clarence Dolen; and his sister, Betty Dolen.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian Overbay Dolen; his daughter Linda and her husband Dave Lawrence; his favorite granddaughter, Kris and her husband Jim Chapman; two great-grandsons, Kenneth James and David Mark Chapman; one sister, Pauline and her husband Arthur Rogers; one brother, Rev. Orville C. Dolen and his wife Maude; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou and husband Pete Grubbs; two brothers-in law and their wives, Howard and Ruth Overbay, all of Kingsport, Gary and Pam Overbay, Roanoke, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Sullivan Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating and eulogies by Dave Lawrence, Gary Overbay, Leland Gott and special music by Kenny Clevenger.

Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post #3382.

Pallbearers are Clay Bowser, Ralph Conant, Raymond Conkin, Dan Dolen, Leonard Harless, Henry Lawson, and Paul Overbay.

Honorary pallbearers are J. Paul Cox, Pete Grubbs, Howard Overbay, Arthur Rogers and Kenneth's Men's Sunday School Class.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sullivan Baptist Church, 4152 Maplewood St., Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.

Lema Clark Falin, 82, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Lema Clark Falin, 82, of Kingsport, formerly of Bristol, passed away Tuesday morning (Feb. 1, 2005) at the home of her son in Farragut.

Lema was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport, a former member of First United Methodist Church in Bristol, and was active in the church. She was a member of a service club of Bristol.

Lema loved to travel encompassing trips overseas, cruises and had traveled all over the United States and Canada.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Worley Falin Jr., in 1996; parents, Palmer Clark and Nora Clark; brothers, Warren Clark and B.A. Clark.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Rebecca Hall of Farragut; grandchildren, Jennifer Topp and husband Greg of Zionsville, Ind., Donald Hall and wife Tara of Anaheim, Calif., Clark Hall of Nashville, Lindley Hall of Farragut; great- granddaughter, Isabella Topp; brother and sister-in-law, James and Betty Clark of Arizona; sister and brother-in-law, Jewell and Gene Brooks of Kingsport; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Velma and Harold Harris of Clarksville, Tenn., George and Jo Falin of New Carlisle, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday at Akard Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Edwards officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Glenwood cemetery Mausoleum.

Mrs. Ellen Fishburne, 71, Statesville, N.C.
STATESVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Ellen Osborne Murr Fishburne, 71, 906 Restmore Lane, died Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005), surrounded by her family at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C. Mrs. Fishburne suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at her home on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005.

She was born Dec. 2, 1933 in Hickory, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Morris Neal (Red) Murr and Doris Shell Murr. She was a graduate of Hickory High School and Lenoir Rhyne College. On Aug. 11, 1956, she was married to Loring Lee Fishburne Sr., who survives.

For a number of years she was a school teacher for the Statesville City Schools and the Iredell-Statesville School System, having taught at Northview, Pressly Elementary, Harmony and Celeste Henkel Elementary Schools.

Mrs. Fishburne was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she had taught pre-school and kindergarten and had been a member of the Alt Guild for over 25 years. Ellen was devoted to her family and friends. She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed bird watching, art and time spent at the beach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a baby brother, Morris Neal Murr Jr.

Surviving family members are her husband, Loring Lee Fishburne Sr.; three daughters, Ellen F. Cartee of Columbia, S.C., who lost her husband, Larry Cartee, October of 2004, Margaret F. Goldston and husband Bryan of Goldston, N.C., Carol F. Pitts and husband Steve of Kingsport; one son, Loring Lee Fishburne Jr., of Carrboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Susannah Goldston, Raleigh, N.C., Emily Goldston, Southern Plains, N.C., and Brett Seats, Columbia, S.C. She is also survived by one brother, David L. Murr and wife Jacqui of Durham, N.C.; two aunts, Virginia S. Lineberger, Hickory, N.C., and Katherine M. Nibbelink, West Chester, N.Y., along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Brad Mullis officiating.

Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Lippard, Brian Niblock, Ben Levenson, Dick Griggs, Matthew Poole and Bill Balaton.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, for the flower fund or building fund, c/o P.O. Box 1103, Statesville, N.C. 28687 or to Hospice of Catawba County, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658.

Bob Gragg, Bristol, Tenn.

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Mr. Bob Gragg passed away at Wellmont Hospice House.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert Parker Gragg; and brother, Paul Gragg.

Bob was the son of Lewis and Beatrice Gragg of Kingsport.

He is survived by his wife, Roma Parker Gragg; a daughter, Sarah (Mrs. David Dugger); and a son, Lewis Denton Gragg II. The joy of his life was his grandchildren. The children of his late son Parker are Seth, Laura Beth, and Zackary Gragg. His daughter Sarah's children are David II, Hannah and Andrew Dugger. Also surviving are his sister, Anna Louise Gray; and his brother, Carl Milhorn Gragg, both of Kingsport.

Bob was a pre-med student of ETSU before joining the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Tex. He served for four years at Brooke Army Medical Center. While in San Antonio he completed studies at San Antonio Junior College. He was transferred to Landstuhl, Germany, 2nd General Hospital, working in Forensic Chemistry.

Bob was certified by CDC in Clinical and Anatomical Pathology. He attended advanced medical schools. He was chief of toxicology USAER Seventh Army. In a medical capacity, he served 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Army. He retired after eight years to continue studies at ETSU.

In 1965, he joined S.E. Massengill as a Senior Research Biochemist. He also worked for Instrumentation Laboratories in Boston, and Boston and Beckman Instruments in California.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.

Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Edgemont Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Larry Stallard and Dr. Dewey Kerr officiating.

Entombment will follow at Glenwood Mausoleum. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Patton Crosswhite Post #6975 and the National Guard.

Anna Mae Harkleroad, 87, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Anna Mae Harkleroad, 87, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning (Jan. 31, 2005) at the Wexford House.

She was a member of West View Baptist Church and a member of the church choir until her health prevented her from attending church.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Wexford House and their hospice staff.

Mrs. Harkleroad was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Harkleroad; parents; two sisters; and one brother.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Groves and husband, Matt of Elizabethton; one son, Don Harkleroad and wife, Nancy of Kingsport; one sister, Geri Deal of Kingsport; two brothers, George Wells and A.J. Wells and their wives, all of Kingsport; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday at Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. Friday with Pastor Mike Stout officiating.

Graveside services will immediately follow in the Oak Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West View Baptist Church, 1037 Fairview Ave., Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.

Myrtle Miller Hensley, 85, Kingsport.
Services for Myrtle Erwin Miller Hensley, 85, of Bluff City and formerly of Kingsport, who passed away Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005), will be conducted in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home at 7 p.m. today with the Rev. James Hagy and the Rev. Raymond Hammonds officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hensley's wishes were that her grandsons be her pallbearers.

Aaron Hagy will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The staff of Oak Hill Funeral Home is serving the Hensley family.

Worley Hubbard, 96, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Services for Worley Wesley Hubbard, 96, of Eastern Star community, who went to be with the Lord Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. George Winegar and the Rev. Larry Nelson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Todd Hubbard, Jay Hubbard, Steven Carroll, Reed Hale, Clarence Lee Grills and Warren Vicars.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church, 153 Eastern Star Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.
