Mrs. Dionne Byrd Young, 87, Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Dionne Byrd Young, 87, died at her residence Friday (Jan. 28, 2005).
She was a native of Barbourville, Ky., and had lived most of her life in Kingsport and Johnson City.
She was the proprietor of Rosepointe Apartments.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit E. Young; her parents, Thomas H. Byrd and Mary Grinstead Byrd; and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosemary Young Brener, of New York City; one son, Kermit E. Young Jr., of the home; granddaughter, Jan Marrs Brener; great-granddaughter, Jessie Brener, and great-grandson, Max Coakley, all of London, England. Also surviving are a nephew, Carl Young Jr., Johnson City; nieces, Mary Young Hawkins, Nashville, Betty Jane Moore, Grapeland, Tex., Ruth Ann Byrd, Houston, Tex., and Shelia Katherine Byrd, Atlanta, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, Johnson City.
A funeral service for Mrs. Young will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the North Chapel of the funeral home. Mr. Larry Crawford will officiate.
Burial will follow at Shelby Hills Cemetery, Bristol, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be Carl Young Jr., Bill Hawkins, Kermit Young Jr., and other friends and family members.

Committal services for Della Mae White Anderson, 84, of Nickelsville, Va., who went to be with the Lord Friday (Jan. 28, 2005), will take place at 2 p.m. today at Holston View Cemetery. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. for the services.

POUND, Va. - Mabel Pearl Bolling, 95, passed away Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at the Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md.
She was a longtime, dedicated member of the Indian Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Conard Bolling; and a son, Gary W. Bolling.
Surviving are a son, George Roger Bolling of Olney, Md.; one grandson, Gregory Wayne Bolling; three great-granddaughters, Doreen Marraffa, Lynn Tingen and Dina Rasavage; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rubel Powers of Wise, Va., and Arthella Kilgore of Kingsport.

Louise Ford Boyer, 93, Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY - Louise Ford Boyer, 93, of 2018 Sherwood Dr., Apt. 223, died Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City.
Mrs. Boyer was the daughter of the late Walter D and Fletchie P Ford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mack P Boyer in 1995; and two brothers, William Cecil Ford and Raymond Howard Ford; and one sister, Mildred (Kate) Harmon.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Pierce, Ivy Hall, Elizabethton; cousins, Sara Cunningham and husband David, Memphis, Josie Lee Reilly, Kingsport, and Mrs. Margaret Goodhoe and her husband Dave, Montrose, Colo. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jane Gray Collier and husband, Dwayne, Rome, Ga., Lake K. Boyer Jr. and wife Connie, Atlanta Ga., Dr. James Reuben Pierce and wife Vicky, Elizabethton, Sandra Satterfield, Rockville, Md., and David Pierce, Kingsport.
Mrs. Boyer was a graduate of Science Hill High School and attended ETSU. She also completed several correspondence courses in banking. At the time of her retirement from First Peoples Bank, she was an assistant vice president. She was very active in community service, during the 26 years that she worked at the bank.
Mrs. Boyer was a very giving person and during her 80-year membership at Central Baptist Church she was active in the Dorcus class and in missionary work. She also taught Sunday School.
She was a 50-year member of the Federation of Women's Clubs and the Monday Club.
She was a past board member of the Sister Cities, National Association of Bank Women, Tipton Haynes Historical Farm and served on the originating board of the Carroll Reece Museum. Mrs. Boyer was also a charter member of Shady Oaks Garden Club and Garden Lovers Club.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

ROGERSVILLE - Clara Lorrine Brooks, 74, died Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) at Rogersville Care & Rehab Center.
Clara was a member of Mooresburg Baptist Church. She was a former employee of the Corner Drug Store and the Burger Bar, Rogersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mamie Hicks Brooks; and brother, Harold Brooks.
She is survived by four sisters, Geraldine Long and husband, Guy of Bulls Gap, Mary Biggs and husband, Raymond of Morristown, Meta Absher and husband, Raymond of Rogersville, Zannie Hicks of Morristown; one brother, James Brooks of Mooresburg; a number of nieces and nephews.

MORRISTOWN - Valice Guy Martin Bryant, 60, formerly of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at Lakeway Regional Hospital.
She was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Assembly Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elisha "John" Bryant; parents, George and Angie Guy; daughter, Gail Martin Miller; granddaughter, Scarlet Miller; brothers, M.D., R.C. and Tommy Guy; and a sister, Dorothy Nichols.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Bryant and fiancé Lt. Terry Malone; granddaughters, Charlotte Dennis and husband Timothy, and Renee and Ashley Miller; grandsons, Scott Miller and wife Tonya and Adam and Timothy Miller; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Wayne, Katlyn, Taylor, Timmy, Haley, Destiny, Devon, Erin, Mickey, Nick and Autumn; several nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends.

ROGERSVILLE - Albert (Abb) Burns, 48, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning (Jan. 30, 2005) following a brief illness.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a self-employed mechanic and carpenter.
Abb was a loving son, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his fiancée, Jeanette Black of Rogersville; five brothers, James Burns and wife, Judy, Glen Burns and wife, Linda of Greene County, Robert Burns and wife, Jane, Charlie Burns Jr. of Rogersville, and Ricky Burns and wife, Vacheena of Greeneville; three sisters, Iva Lutz, Linda Carter and husband, Gary, and Tryna Strong and husband, Freddie, all of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Lester Wadsworth and Marlene Patterson.

MOUNT CARMEL - Junior F. Butler, 80, went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon (Jan. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Hancock County, but had lived in Mount Carmel the majority of his life. He retired from A&L Construction with over 24 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and loved to give away what he grew.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Christine Anderson Butler; brothers, Earnest Butler and Coby Butler; and one sister, Marvie Sutton.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Rosie McNutt Butler; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Katherine Butler, Gate City; daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Terry Bowman, Church Hill; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Madge Brownlow, Kingsport; along with six nephews.

KINGSPORT - Eula M. Conklin, 75, passed away Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Wise County, Va., she had lived in Kingsport since 1971 and was of the Baptist faith.
She was the daughter of C. Fred Snodgrass and Pearl Frazier Snodgrass. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Conklin in 1971; an infant sister, Velma; and a brother, C. Sidney Snodgrass.

BRIGHTWOOD - Eunice Schooler Denny, 88, of Brightwood, died Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) in Brightwood.
She was born Sept. 28, 1916 in Mineral, Va., and was the daughter of the late Dewey Thomas Schooler and Maude Terrell Schooler and the wife of the late Charlie Edward Denny Sr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charlie Edward Denny Jr.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church at Reva.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Reed Fincham of Brightwood, Kay and John Wright of Wise; one sister, Littie Snellings of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Deborah F. Kenneth R. Dolen, 79, Kingsport.

KINGSPORT - Kenneth R. Dolen, 79, went home to be with the Lord Monday (Jan. 31, 2005).
Kenneth was born Oct. 3, 1925, in Sullivan County and was the son of Minnie Churchwell Dolen and Charles Nelson Dolen. He lived his entire life in Sullivan County and was a graduate of Sullivan High School.
Mr. Dolen was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II in the South Pacific. He was awarded several medals.
After working for 25 years with the Mead Corporation, he retired due to health reasons.
Kenneth was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church where he was active in many ministries. He was ordained and served as a lifetime deacon.
Kenneth Dolen loved God, his family, his church, and his country. In return, he was much loved by his family, church, and community.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Minnie and Charles Dolen; his son, Mark R. Dolen; his brother, Clarence Dolen; and his sister, Betty Dolen.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian Overbay Dolen; his daughter Linda and her husband Dave Lawrence; his favorite granddaughter, Kris and her husband Jim Chapman; two great-grandsons, Kenneth James and David Mark Chapman; one sister, Pauline and her husband Arthur Rogers; one brother, Rev. Orville C. Dolen and his wife Maude; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou and husband Pete Grubbs; two brothers-in law and their wives, Howard and Ruth Overbay, all of Kingsport, Gary and Pam Overbay, Roanoke, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
